Great game unlike any I've seen yet. I wish there was an auto next-turn button so I don't have to spam the next turn button when I have finished the puzzles.
Great game visually with some diverse and interesting enemies (did the colour of the enemies mean anything?) I wish it was easier to strike the enemies as 'x' was an awkward key for me and I found that I was often trading blows without any way of dodging incoming damage.
Really fun game with a crazy and interesting twist that, until mastered, is suitably punishing. My biggest issue was that the floaty movement, as stated by some other commentors, meant that a few times I would lose all my health points from one obstacle that I would become trapped on top of.
Thoroughly entertaining game with so much room for growth I'm excited to see what you do with it. As others have said, frustrating at first but I felt I understood a lot better as I was reaching the 10,000 data point level. If there was a bit more of a tutorial that would be brilliant! There was a bug I encountered where, if I selected the road to be placed. It would just place it everywhere I dragged my mouse without me clicking.
Awesome game, I particularly enjoyed the vertical game-play allowed by the booster in the middle and the art style and story tie in well to provide a great mood. I would have liked the tutorial to mention that the position of the flashing lights gives you an idea of where the issue is as initially I was running around endlessly. Also if there was a visual indicator right before a plume of smoke or lava hit you that would be quite useful too.
The best looking game I have seen so far in the competition as many others have stated. The one thing I found was that I went to every part of the map before I went down to see the old man, I was wondering if anyone else found that they went up and around before deciding to go down and finding the old man.
Exciting game with a great atmosphere due to the art and lighting. The pacing was great as I felt I had to get further and further from the plant to get more jerry cans. As others have said the movement felt clunky due to the way the character is rotated. I am assuming you are either linearly interpolating or using SmoothDamp to move rotate the player. I think if you made the transitions between the target vector and current position faster it would feel a lot more responsive. Also if we had some sort of way of knowing where the mouse was on the screen it would save some confusion.
Thoroughly enjoyable experienced, small but really well done and it looks amazing.
Would be great if there was a way to save your images or see them in an art gallery, but I still enjoyed how chill the whole experience is.
Like a previous commenter said, clearing the paintings is like using a pressure washer and very satisfying. It would be great if there were a few different tools to use on the paintings for different tasks so the game-play was a bit more varied.
Really fun to have a story behind the point and clicker that you have to figure out yourself. However the Bot Repair option for me also uses 5m^3 of water which makes the game very difficult as generating new bots takes a long time due to lack of water. I don't know if this is intended as it doesn't say under the uses section. Also I would like to have a use for data in the late game but I couldn't find one.
The game looks great, often I overlooked important objects because they blended into the background too much. I also found that no matter what I did I wouldn't die.
Really nice looking game with a simple yet challenging premise. At times I thought the game was really tough as I struggled to get passed wave 3. I felt that taking damage was something that could be worked on or reworked, the only obvious indicator that you have taken damage is the audio queue which I sometimes overlook due to the hectic nature of the game. It would be nice if there was some visual queues too such as a change in sprite or knockback.
The game is really well done and a very intriguing concept that is quite similar to ours. I found that in one area I got stuck and kept dying as I jumped down a hole in some cave like area and couldn't find how to progress so i little bit of instructions on where to go could help.
@feingehacktes We have attempted to make builds for the other OSs.
Awesome game really enjoyed how challenging but rewarding it was. If the camera was moved down slightly so that I could see more of the level beneath me it would be quite useful. Having a cool-down on shooting the swords would also make it that bit more challenging and satisfying. Good luck in your future game jams!
Great aesthetic, addictive and very challenging (I like challenging games). I had a small issue where sometimes I could not jump when I was touching the ground that led to a few frustrating deaths, but the easy repeatability made me skim over this issues.
Really challenging but fun game when you get the strats down. Looks amazing. I would have loved a timer to see how quickly I could kill the crab as well as seeing some more content. Sometimes the hit boxes behaved oddly but this is still one of my favourite games of the jam so far.
Great idea and good execution and difficulty curve, would have loved to see some more levels and different ways to use the sun. Agree with previous about sound.
Super fun game, intuitive and addictive. I really enjoy how hectic it gets. I think that the progression curve could do with some refinement. I would have liked it to start slightly harder but get more difficult at a more gradual rate.
One of the best looking games, incredible how you got it all done in such a short amount of time. I would have liked the game to be a bit harder or maybe greater diversity in the enemies.
Awesome game, really enjoyed the sun taunting me as I went passed. The one think that confused me for a while was how some mushrooms bounced you up but some didn't. I think a change in colour as well as size would help players realise that they perform different mechanics when collided with.
Really enjoyed playing this one. Took me a bit to wrap my head around the controls but after while I was moving around fairly fluidly. I think that the zoom out option shouldn't bring you back in and I wish I could control it. As a smooth brain it takes me a while to understand the whole level and the few seconds you get weren't enough
The presentation of the game is really well executed and the the chicken, fox and onion look great. The one thing I found that held it back was that I found the attack hard to control so I often felt that running away was better than fighting.
@vlandemart That's a really good idea, definitely worth putting in and I wish that I came up with that
Good pacing to the game, the one thing that I would change would be the ding when you get something correct.
Good first attempt! I felt that the controls were quite slow and sluggish, I couldn't tell if that was a hindrance or this made it difficult enough to make it challengingly fun.
Really good looking game, very simple but like others have said. I only realised later on I was gaining / losing health. The movement was a bit jarring although.
The wobbly platforms were a nice addition. Some points that might help: There should be more indication of where the platform was about to fall. Either the rumbling should increase or an audio queue. Also, like others have said the controls need to be more forgiving.
Excellent game, looks great and is really challenging. Maybe a bit too challenging, but if that's the type of game you're aiming for this really is a stand out of the competition.
Probably one of the most refreshingly unique games of the competition I really enjoyed it. I just wish it wasn't quite so difficult. I felt like I was getting punished for trying to do cool things like triple flips and all that.
Fun game. Managed to get a high score of 1269. I liked how you had to get out in order to get a score, good risk vs reward. I wish the wall jumps were a little more consistent.
The art is incredible, the fact that you got that done in such a short time is a real credit to the artist. I would have like to see more gameplay elements. The loop of trying to drag the toddlers to the bottle got old after just a couple drags and I couldn't see any change in difficulty.
I really like the chromatic aberration when you slow down time, it adds a lot to the atmosphere. The only downside was the music, wasn't really my kind of music.
Managed to get a high score of 18. Found myself dying a lot because I was trying to explore the map. I think it would be better to move the gamma zones around so that you can't just stay in the same place.
Very polished game that looks fantastic, especially the fireball spell. Also the current high score being kept in the top left is a very useful addition.
Like others have said, the game looks great and the mood is good. But I was very confused as to what to do and the sensitivity of the mouse was way too high.
The character art is great. I found I was often stuck waiting to transform as not all of the transformations had uses.
@peco Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I think we should have but more emphasis on the unstable engine (maybe tuned the timing a little bit).
@liss1024 Thanks for the heads up, fixed the server so it should work in web now
Great game, with a nice aesthetic. The core gameplay was easy to understand. It would've been nice if their were checkpoints because dying was super punishing.
Relaxing game, I think the information dump at the beginning was a bit too much. If you slowly introduced each of the ways to stabilize the element and got players to learn them by doing them it would have been less intimidating to start off.
The atmosphere you created was really good. I wish that Greg responded to what I was saying though, when I tried to cheer them up Greg just seemed to get more sad. Although everything got fixed with a hug :)
The voiceover is fantastic and the art looks great
Really fun concept and your game looks great, I wish there were more levels to play. Like others have said I would have liked to see the movement system refined more; moving faster and more intuitive controls. I'm not too sure where the theme fits in though.
Great art but I was a bit lost and just ended up floating around.
Love the character design and quite a challenging and intricate puzzle game. I would have definitely appreciated a restart level button cause I wasn't very good.
The aesthetic is good and the music was very addictive but I wish that I could see more of the level to stop be running into things. I also found that the jumping wasn't very responsive.
Got it in 17! Is that any good?
Such an amazing atmosphere and mood, you really nailed it. I would've liked to have seen a tiny bit more visually maybe or perhaps make the robot move a bit faster. Glad I stuck with it until the end a really enjoyable game.
That menu is awesome, neat idea, topical and fits well with the theme. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it's the best LD50 typing game I've played so far.
I think a little more explanation would be nice, it took me a while to understand what was going on instead of just pressing end turn. Once I understood the game it became fun to try and optimise my routes as much as possible and it's a really unique idea. Was the inevitable part the fact that they always find love in the end?
Your game looks fantastic and it's a really neat idea that fits in well with the theme. I would have liked some kind of score or timer to measure my progress between runs and I also found that I never switched off of the revolver because there was never really a need to use the other guns as they limited the resources I could drain from people. Really excited to see if you expand upon this game.
As others have said there's so much here and the journal and help is really appreciated, great game. I had one issue where when I tried to speed up the game my framerate dropped to a slideshow which hindered by ability to progress quickly.
Great game, love the inclusion of a leaderboard to keep it competitive and add replayability.
The grannies look great, especially when they dislocate their jaws to swallow you whole. I did find that the difficulty curve was a bit intense going from quite easy up to 100 grannies where it suddenly becomes impossible, the highest I could get was 104.
As others have said, the game looks fantastic but I could have used a lot more instructions on what to do, I found myself just clicking on repair until I couldn't keep up and I died a lot.
Great fun, would have liked for all of the different objects to cause the steamroller to slow down in different ways. Like the roller would spin around when it hits the bananas.
I love dams, I love stickman dam. Would've been nice to have a score to track my progress / get a better one next time. I would have liked a replay button too. Also some visual indication as to where the dam leaks are would really help elevate the gameplay.
Snappy controls that felt responsive, made me feel like when I made a mistake it was my own fault. Would be quite cool if there was a bit of drifting so that I could go even faster. I also think that a mini map would've come in handy because it was quite hard to follow the arrow.
@online-play We forgot to mention in the description the solar panels do actually work better at the equator and they also only work when the sun is shining on them. But 3824 is a pretty high score!
@mopifish Thanks for the feedback! You're right the balancing for the coups was way off, the number of emergency responders is calculated as a ratio of the buildings that you have and we had the ratio set way too low, we've now changed that ratio. Thanks for the heads up :)
Great game! Got some real slay the spire vibes from it and I mean that as a compliment. I found that there was a major build up of zombies on the left hand side and all my spells affected the right hand side.
This is the start of a really great game, congrats. I found that sometimes my units would get stuck behind bushes, it would have been nice if they could move around them automatically and I would also like a little more direction as to what the end goal is. I look forward to you adding more content.
Great mini-games! Although I just couldn't work out the tooth game. I would have liked a score so that I could compare my runs.
The artwork is great and the dialogue shows a lot of effort. Some feedback: Sometimes it felt like I was just spamming as many units down as possible as oppose to placing units down logically. Also when you restart a level it would be better if the dialogue wasn't replayed again as it's quite long and already been read.
Super unique mechanic, really fits in with the theme and the pixel art is really good. I liked that you could place your bombs in advance and plan out the level, I do wish that the lave moved a bit quicker though.
The dragon looks so cool! It would have been nice to have some variation in the trees or the background so the levels don't feel quite as repetitive.
I would have liked a reset button so that when I get stuck I didn't just have to wait to get old and die.
The audio and graphics really stand out, they look super clean while maintaining a retro vibe! I also like that population regrows; something that we totally forgot about and I wish we'd implemented in our game.
Congrats on the first Game Jam entry. I also couldn't find the exit. I felt as though there was no need to zoom in or out because there was no benefit to being zoomed in.
I got the holy grail!!! Nice game, would have been nice to see the shop for a bit longer than ten seconds, maybe at the beginning because I had no idea what I was buying
Really neat looking game. Constructive thoughts: I often got hit from behind, some visual or audio indicator would go a long way to stopping that frustration.
Nice clicker, would be nice if there was some choice in the upgrades instead of just going down the list slowly ticking them off
Love how the effects compound on each other, travelling on the ceiling and in the dark.
Fantastic game! Inspired by games like slay the spire, but with a great twist that suits the theme. Finally managed to beat it after several runs. My only complaint is that in order to win you need to hit a draw additional cards powerup at the beginning otherwise you just run out of steam too early and die.
Really unique art style that really stands out. I struggled to figure out what to do with the items in my inventory and the arrows sometimes seemed non-intuitive.
I love the voice acting, I had to reload the page once to get it to work tho, i don't know if that's just me or not
The mechanics here are great and it's a fun game but it's sooooooooo difficult, the best I could do was 50%.
Great game that is really difficult. Sometimes it felt like I was slipping off the edges a bit too easily and my jump wasn't getting registered. It might be worth considering "idiot-proofing" your game a bit; making the colliders for the platforms a bit larger than the asset, or better allow the player to sill jump a fraction of a second after they've slipped off the edge of a platform.
Good game with a great looking character, sometimes I found that I didn't know where to go or what to do and when I pressed esc and then tried to return to the game, it crashed. The main menu with individual volumes was greatly appreciated. :)
Like others have said, some kind of visual indicator that the walls hurt you would be very helpful
Great game and what's there is really well done. Got repetitive after a while but still a strong game for a game ja m
Nice game, really enjoyed it. I think that I would have enjoyed it even more if there was a way to automate actions so I wasn't just spamming my mouse
A really neat factory game that looks amazing for the amount of time that you had. I appreciate that there was no timer and you had time to explore for yourself and work things out.
Neat game! To improve it I would try to make the colliders match up more to the sprites
The game looks excellent! I would have liked a way to fast forward the players so it goes a bit quicker, particularly in the first level.
Great game, feels a bit sad when you feel like you've played as well as you could but you still end up sending people to the wrong areas to keep the game going
I liked the guiding laser that shows you where your parcel is going to land
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I only seem to be able to go backwards (s), if I try to go forwards I go so slowly that I never leave the depot area
I think something that would greatly benefit the game would be more information: info on how much gold you have, how much things cost, etc. But you have the groundwork of a really solid game and a great first try!
Great looking game with a simple, easy to pick up game play loop. A minimap would have helped a lot to stop me wasting so much time. Also when you moved diagonally you moved faster. I don't know if this was intended or not.
Like others have said, a scoreboard would have been great to see how I progress between runs. Also sometimes I feel like the order were unachieveable in the time limit given :)
Nice game! I don't know if other people found the same, but all the food tended to pile up in the middle as opposed to being distributed evenly.
Great game! Way more difficult that I originally thought it would be!
