Prikolnaya igra!
I see you guys wanted the Automation theme to win :) I had a lot of fun with this, building roads was a bit clunky at first. Also I experienced some bugs that made the cats fly across the screen and they wouldn't spawn anymore if I stopped the simulation, having to start over again.
Anyways, good work for a simulation/tycoon game in such a short time, the UI looked great
Sadly I experienced to same bug as @hegemege multiple times however still a great game. I liked the style and automation theme.
Great game, can't believe it was made in such a short time! I also experienced the cats stopped spawning bug. It was a bit hard to understand where to place the road and the attractions. Still great game, art and sound!
Hello all. Thank you very much for the kind words, appreciate it! Folks please sorry about the bug, we are trying to find a way to reproduce but didn't succeed yet. If you have a second please drop me a line about your case. @slam0 @hegemege @zerohbeat Thanks!
I can reproduce this bug if I place the sleeping spot right above the claw sharpener CatFunFactory_Bug1.jpg
Thank you @slam0 , you are life saver :) By the way, great job with Need for Feed - High Voltage!
Very cool game! The gameplay is very fun! Cats are the best! We also made a game about cats (again) hahah.
Impressed by how much was put together in a short time! I love the idea (and also cats). It played smoothly once i was able to figure out how to operate and place things. A grid might have helped with laying out the different pieces. Nice work!
I seem to hit the bug described above every time I try to build the Sleeping Spot, no luck with different path setups.
What a shame, this game looks really fun! I'll try it again if you find a fix for it.
This was very fun! I built a factory that could handle heavy cat traffic without stopping, but sadly it glitched at this point: https://i.imgur.com/aGNt00h.jpg
First all cats just started moving in one direction, off the map, and then no other cats would spawn.
Other than that I had a great time building and planning, it's a well made game, especially for being made in a gamejam!
The bug is now fixed! Thanks for the feedback and the kind words folks! @slam0 @hegemege @zerohbeat @jefvel @devastus
This was a cute and fun factory conveyor belt game. Like the graphics and theme. If it was expended upon I'd like to see ways of chaining cats and facilities together for bigger bonus and effects.
This game is very awesome ! I love it ! I litteraly passed 1 hour just for optimize my cats production ! x) I want to see more and more ! Art and story are fun. I just have some bugs when I want to build at the border of the game. Now I have the solution for my cat : a second me. Haha ! Well done !
Amazing game! Well done!
Very nice game! Ive always wondered where cats come from and now I finally know! Very nice art and the gameplay is fun. Good job!
So cool and so cute. I really like the factory system. But I don't understand where the theme is x)
Really fun game. I mean, it has cats! What else do you need for a good game? The only complaint I can think of is that roads sometimes didn't connect. Not sure why
Thank you all for the feedback and the kind words!
@lamossus yep, our bad, unfortunately we decided to "invent" a brand new way to render the world... on Ludum Dare... That's why we have troubles with roads sometimes. You can connect them only by dragging with pressed right mouse button. Just imagine that it is a brush from Photoshop :)
Very very fun! Great graphics, nice buildings, inventive gameplay. And CATS :) I really had loads of fun with this one!
However, I did encounter the bug described by @jefvel and others. The one with cats suddenly just moving off the map and no other cats produced. I also encountered another bug, when a game would just place whatever I had chosen to build in the path of my mouse cursor (like a game thought that I was clicking even though I wasn't). That bug I fixed by pausing/playing several times.

Controls for building doesn't work well at 2560x1080 resolution. Switching to 1920x1080 is workaround for it. I like your idea of factory lines and learning basics of logic. I hope to see this game evolved into a big cat satisfactory :o)
Who doesn't love cats?! It's a fun and cute game, quite ambitious scope for a game jam, but I must admit that it was executed in a very polished manner. I finished the story, enjoyed the game and thankfully haven't encountered any bugs. Great game overall, the connection to the theme is quite weak though.
That was quite a fantastic game. I feel though that's a bit of a stretch of the theme, but it's quite fun and clever in its execution. Very well done!
Bro it has cats, I'm sold :cat: loved the premise! very well executed game!
Love the visuals, great execution! The problem I ran into most often was that I felt like roads didn't exactly build how I intended to most of the time - especially when connecting 2 existing roads, but in general it was totally workable. Really impressive how much you managed to put together in such a short time :)
with small iterations and some tutorial levels, this can easily teach basics of ml. Great work
Great visuals, I quite like the particle effects, maybe you could use different ones for the different activities though. Great atmospheric music. The intro also is really cool. The Machine Learning part is maybe a bit of a stretch, but it's a cool concept and done in an interesting way nevertheless. Fun, captivating!
really cool and fun, just two roads merging into one didn't always work as wanted :)
My son had too much fun! It took us a while to understand how it worked to clean the floor, but after we found out it was easy. He managed to get to the goal correctly. It's a well-done game, with art and music that go great together.
Congratulations!

boi ohh boi that was a fun experience.
Aw yeah. Cats and automating things, what more do you need.
Let's get the bad parts out of the way first: - Roads. Arrgh, roads. The tutorial just says that I can connect via dragging. Tried that, I can't, nothing happens. Turns out I have to select the "road block" first. Its button doesn't exactly look like a road, and... you know that a "roadblock"/"road block" is something that *blocks* roads, right? Clicking that button and then dragging took me a fair bit to figure out. I had multiple things researched before I built my first road. - And they only merge in front of machines? So much for properly parallizing my cat desire classification. - And often they don't really align well with the machines, especially the upper part of splitters. - As @uberardy mentions, Machine Learning seems a bit of a stretch here. And digital marketing too. - The theme connection is pretty weak. - Unless I'm misunderstanding something, there doesn't seem to be much strategy apart from the obvious. Once you figure out how stuff works, not much thinking is required. Not ideal for this type of game.
And now, with *that* done, let's get to the good parts: - It's cute! - It's refreshing - I haven't seen any games like that yet in this Ludum Dare, and barely any in other LDs I attended. - It looks good! - The music is well made and fits. Games like that are usually played for a stretch of time, and the music blended well into the background. - You don't just have a starting cutscene with a great style, but also an ending cutscene. Wow! - You actually have a tutorial. And not just one in the beginning, but one that shows multiple windows. (Although I am not sure it is strictly *needed* - I figured it out just as well myself, because, I built my first road later I didn't even see it, and when it started it mostly showed me things I already knew - but it's nice that it's there for the players who it helps.) - It can't have been easy to develop all the mechanics in such a short time.
All in all, this is a really great jam game, and one of the most complete feeling I've seen in this LD so far. Great job, folks!
PS: I have a question about the first GIF in the description. Why do so many cats walk past the scratchers and sleeping pads even though they aren't full? In my factories, they always seem to go away angrily once they encounter the first machine they don't like, even if it's to the side of the road. Maybe I misunderstood something?
edit: First it didn't want to post anything, then it suddenly posts too much. Thanks, Ludum Dare page.
edit: I wish I could delete duplicate comments.
edit: I'm so sorry.
edit :(
I fully agree with the remarks made by @tobiasw; cats are cute, but they don't make a game. * The tutorial isn't clear on how to build roads * Building roads is clunky because they don't auto update (player has to manually fix connections to machines) * The sprites of the machines make it hard to understand how to align them * The special splitters should be locked until you have unlocked a survey machine * Theme connection isn't there
@tobiasw thanks for the detailed feedback, appreciate it! No worries about the duplicate comments, peace!
@gamescodedogs You're welcome! Did you see the question in the "PS"? I'm really curious about that. Was it taken from an older build? Am I misunderstanding a feature of the game?
@tobiasw actually it's quite a funny story :) The original idea was to build a factory which works as a digital company. Acquiring users, selling something to them, optimizing offers. We wanted players to think about what users (cats) really want (like it works in real-life digital marketing).
So we rushed into the programming headfirst. After 40+ hours everything was looking good, except the awful road-building because of the number of bad tech decisions we've made. So I made the GIF and went to sleep.
In the morning it was strange, I understood that cats just ignoring spots they don't want to visit :) So the main idea of figuring out what they really want was ruined. We've fixed it but didn't update the GIF :)))
I really glad that you highlighted it, players like you are the biggest source of inspiration for us! Take care.
@gamescodedogs Ah, gotcha! Yeah, that would've been a really boring game, just making a long road with every possible spot lined up next to it, haha. Glad you fixed that!
Hi @mika-la-grand. Thanks for the detailed feedback.
> cats are cute, but they don’t make a game.
Sure, I think everyone can agree with that. There was no intention to place cats into the game to replace the gameplay.
> The tutorial isn’t clear on how to build roads > Building roads is clunky because they don’t auto update (player has to manually fix connections to machines)
We will remember this roads for years I think, it's so funny how we invented troubles for ourselves with this simple thing :))
> The sprites of the machines make it hard to understand how to align them
Make sense
> The special splitters should be locked until you have unlocked a survey machine
Maybe
> Theme connection isn’t there
Originally it was very logical to us (take a look at the "Theme" section of the description) but now it looks really weak :)
Perhaps all the game notes I can write someone has written before and you know all of this. So I'd like to add that the game is very funny and I liked it.
woow what a lovely game, artwork, UI design, buttons everything is polished really great work good job, one of the best games I've played so far
Wow the game is really cool! Cats are adorable! The beginning was a bit frustrating, but then it became obvious. But I collected 10,000 coins and nothing happened. Also cats who wanted claw sharpener sometimes went wrong way after passing claw sharpenner splitter. Anyway for me it's one of the best games on LD!
Thoroughly entertaining game with so much room for growth I'm excited to see what you do with it. As others have said, frustrating at first but I felt I understood a lot better as I was reaching the 10,000 data point level. If there was a bit more of a tutorial that would be brilliant! There was a bug I encountered where, if I selected the road to be placed. It would just place it everywhere I dragged my mouse without me clicking.
Beautiful art and UI! I would love a little more hand holding in the tutorial- and it seemed as though my cursor was offset so that it was difficult to control exactly where I wanted to put the pieces. Also, the music very well produced, but a little repetitive. Love the concept and can't wait to see where you take it! Thanks so much for the cat fun factory!
Thats an impressive game, I could play for hours! I hope to see more features in a future update :)
My first impression playing this game was "How the hell did he manage to make this game in just 72 hours?!" This game is really well made, the theme connection is a little bit weak but it's ok, it's a great game anyway ;)
I really liked the intro, it's kind of rare in Ludum Dare games. The graphics and audio are super nice.
Good job! :)
Wow, good approach to game! Machine learning with cats, hmm... not bad ;) Pretty thoughtful game, good job!
