I love Ludum Dare for such kind of games!
Crimes!
I played this game in VR and this was awesome. Gameplay has variety and has big freedom for puzzles and stealth action. I would like to know how you did locomotion. I also made VR game on this LD, but I didn't find a solution to combine arm swinging and proper head collision.
Sometimes when I hitting I also jumping. So I found a workaround - make one fist forward and swing with another to approach to the enemy. This looks fun, but it works.
Yes, guys, you totally right. I made the submission in the middle of the night after three days of hard working in two realities and I messed up with categories. Now it fixed. I know the difference between Compo and Jam. I have 4 games made in Compo restrictions. And I know that only a few people can play my VR game instead of hundreds of people if it will be web-based game. But it's okay for me. I come to this LD for my personal goals (learn how to make VR games).
vipbasil, thank you for kind words.
Simone, I haven't Oculus to make a port for it. Probably, it can work on Oculus just from the box. But there is no reason to port this game to the regular first-person shooter for monitors. It is possible and not hard, but all idea was to make VR experience.
0uicmoi, that sad, but it is useful information for me. I will search for solution on my next VR game.
Cataractar, you are the first person who gave me feedback. Thank you! Glad to hear that it is too easy not just for me. It is hard to make a game that you can't playtest on any random person before submit.
I can play such games for hours. Brilliant!
The game looks good, but it is hard to play, because horizontal speed is not enough. And I didn't get where VR here. Is it joke? I made VR game on LD for real and I'm looking for similar cases.
Conception is interesting, I really want to play this game, but I stuck with understanding how UI works. I can't understand which parts of the ship is on and how to turn them off. It's not intuitive.
Moral decisions... mmm.. I like it. I think this idea has a great potential.
Congratulation with your first finished game. I can recommend tweaking the game balance. Killing enemies is quite boring because you need to shoot a lot of time before they die. As idea, you can drop powerups randomly or make killing enemies more challenging (hard to aim).
Good result for first try. I wish to say more, but I need to take one more selfie.
Looks good, but I don't get why I need to collect and deposit scrap and after depositing I can't move.
Strange feelings. From the one side, this is arthouse game. From the other side, I feel like I wasted a lot of time to toiled that not working.
Excellent entry! I didn't get conception about where to go and what to do, but I had fun flying around and searching for new planets.
I didn't get how to launch this game on HTC Vive. I can't find any options to switch game into VR mode.
Procedural dungeons is a cool feature and a smart solution how to make a lot of levels in short time.
Oh my gosh! That moment!
@smbe19 we have no option to test the game on Linux, sorry.
I like this low poly style and casual controls. There is plenty of space for making a puzzle game. Only one thing concerns me - each time I need to run the whole level from the beginning.
Looks great! I wish to play longer, but I have no clue why I'm dying after the second monster. Who makes the music? I like it.
Get 1st place in overall on the first try with a lot of free energy. A little tweak of balance and this game will shine like a diamond. Webcam idea is overwhelmingly super.
You can check my game too. We made our interpretation of participation in Ludum Dare too.
The best part is when you leave the city and see the pandemonium of cows. So sad that after a few minutes of play controls get broken and I can't move. Also didn't get how to defeat final bulls.
I win on the third try, but I throw people away in random order because I have no time to read. But I appreciate that every people and cargo has a unique description. Opening sequence is too long for waiting. I like cascade explosions. It's a quite fun mechanic that similar to fun of match3 cascade effect (that makes this genre to be popular). I has dropped all cargo at the beginning and didn't notice effect in the final. But it's a good idea to give to the play an option to modify the difficulty on the fly.
I like your art style, humor, and narrator. But moreover, I like your idea because of my game also about making games on Ludum Dare :o)
Argh! My eyes melting. It's so good and fun!!
This game can be played forever Cult.png
My recommendation on the next time: - Put information about controls directly in the game. At least, as usual text near the starting point. - Give visible feedback on the player's actions. For example, if I hit an enemy with my fireball something should happen. If I do melee attack - I expect to see some attack movements (at least pose change or some slashing effect nearby the character). - The first level better to keep simple and easy. It's about learning game mechanics, not about challenge. - And don't let any feedback ruin your motivation to make games! This game is a great job for your age!
Too fast for me.
Pros: - Simple, but stylish graphics - Procedural generated dungeons - Inventory system - Lots of enemies and bosses Cons: - Music is very loud - No info about item stats. I don't know how to decide which item I want to take and what I want to drop. - Attack zone is too small. It is easy to miss attack at enemy even he is in the close range. - I can't drop weapon that I don't want to use to make easy switching weapons in the fight.
It takes time to understand how to beat the boss. And I still not able to pass him. In any case, it was fun to play. I like how you made level design, upgrades, camera moving on rails, animations.
@pedro-miranda it was intented that player will step on floor button by himself, not by putting stone over it. We didn't thought that it is obvious move from the experience of other games like Portal or Zelda.
Jeff!! Nooo!!!!
Only after your video above I realize that for grabbing stick I need hold button E, not just quick press. Game is tiny, but looks good and cute. I like your scheme of core loop mechanics. I suppose you have a lot of things what you can improve in your developing process on the next ludum dare :o)
Perfect sense of darkest humor 😈 I wish to move faster between characters, because long walks brakes the pace.
Unfortunaly, interface doesn't fit on wide screen monitons (2560x1080). I can't see my money. No possible to play :o( wide2.png
@jonas-michael yep, I will check your game again when you say. I recommend to you to use Canvas Scales set Scale With Screen Size and Match set to 1 (Height). This will make you UI works good on any resolution and wide monitors. Here the tutorial about that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4AdT5cKmZQ
@jonas-michael I tried the new version. It's playable and much more convinient, but still have some issues with numbers fit. wide3.png
Somehow all items except flowers are locked. So it's very zen game for me. zen.png
Haha, only at this stage I realized that I need click RMB to unselect flowers. zen2.png
I get 17 items from 30, but now I stuck. More items I have -> more combination I need to try. I like your idea to use alchemy gameplay for stone age.
C'mon, you are using Synty Studios assets (Fantasy Characters and Knights packs). You should opt-out from graphics nomination.
Oh my gosh, it's unbelivable quality for LD. I complete it to the end. Not sure that I found all letters. I like how you made onboarding.
Scary! Usually red bars used for health bar, but here it is stamina bar. And it doesn't clear because it used red color on red color. But ok, it works and I understand mechanic. I didn't realize that flashlight need to be reload in the inventory. Few times I got situation when I grab battery and flashlight turns off right after it. And I don't know why I collect some peaces of paper. In any case, it is just my mumbling. You did good entry: playable, complex, difficult, holistic!
It is incredible how many levels you made. I'm in love how you made tutorial text as a gameplay objects.
I died a lot on the first enemy before I realize that there no way to kill him and I just need to continue avoid attacks. Idea is good.
I like this moment when I think that I can avoid gargoyles forever until I get the key :o)
New build is working, I'm able to play. But it's fking scary. I made a few brick when I saw doll nearby under the heavy post-effects. Scary as hell. And I don't understand how random teleport works.
It takes time to understand how it works and what possible combination can be. I like the concept of the factory of letters and words. Good work, nice game! You nailed the ludum dare theme!
I don't get how to play. I have a black screen after NOTHING text and looped sound. I should do something to proceed or it is just a bug?
Now game works and I'm able to play. Controls makes me mad, but I understand that this is a part of conception. I can pass through the closed doors if aim into the middle. It is awesome idea to play in the brain literally and metaphorically.
@drjeebus it's okay than not each time you make exactly what you planned. I participate with my students in Ludum Dare not for victory, but for collecting fails that we can use to learn.
This town needs a hero hero1.png
Am not good at being hero hero2.png
Still looking for secret super powah
Yep, visual style is a top-notch, animations is good and fun. But gameplay is boring. I'd will reduce number of waves per level and put enemy spawns on opposite sides on level to make player move around. But next time I recommend you to think how to make game with less game mechanics. For example, you make large worlds to have exploration gameplay that doesn't require additional coding.
@doodums this is why I participate in each Ludum Dare. 2-3 days give me more "battle" experience than a few months in other circumstances. This is most important take away from LD, not just a small game I made.
I don't understand how to find some seeds and start growing something.
Yeah, 10 out of 10. Totally correct life simulator. No clue what is going on and what shall I do. Somehow I managed to get the end.
The end is never!
@aoni sorry, we had no time to implement sound and music.
@gamescodedogs come on, it's just a small game made during Unity lessons about making third-person controller, basics of level design and collaborate work. Usually, I don't like to make aggresive games.
I'm stuck with metal gloves. I loose all gloves and I have no idea how to make them metal. But I still in love in the mood of the game. For me it is enough to stand on crawler and feel how it moves throught the desert world. Really moody atmosphere.
Oh, and I forgot to thank you for puzzles with insuficient information. It provokes to thinking :o)
Controls for building doesn't work well at 2560x1080 resolution. Switching to 1920x1080 is workaround for it. I like your idea of factory lines and learning basics of logic. I hope to see this game evolved into a big cat satisfactory :o)
Dialogs are funny. I would like to get the story, but I can't pass orge. He is more educated than me. Otherwise, I'm to big for the small time window for attack. Still like this game and your sense of humor.
Perfect execution. Only wish to get some animation or something as the reward for job done.
@brielley @kasparkram it may be hard to believe but absence of control is a design decision and made on purpose. I wanted to make a game about random ragdoll falling and colliding with obstacles. It's just a fun to watch how body falls in unpredictable way. Having controls over the body will confront with the randomness of the process. Moreover, controls are useless when you can't predict the result of your decisions. And you can't because there a lot of random interactions with obstacles. So I decided to stay it simplest mechanics like slot machine where you only need to pull the lever. Sometimes it makes body fall near the mine - emotions go down. Sometimes you see how body makes a long trip down - emotions goes up. In the summary, you get emotional rollecoaster. That is why I'm satisfied with the game in current scope.
btw, here is the game with similar conception but with controls and challanges https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/katabasis
@general thank you, it is always interesting to watch how people playing my game.
@coleslaughter thank you for playing! I got a lot of emotions watching how you guys playing and your reactions. It is exactly what I want to make and I'm happy that it works.
I like the narrative of the last layers ❤
Brilliant! I hope you will win this jam! Pls, make it possible to take resources from crates by hand. And I think it will be more convinient if robots will be able to have multiple scripts or store scripts separetly. There are too many activities for only two robots at start.
Totally masterpiece! I was engaged to go deeper and deeper in your story. I had to press H only two times and it helps me stay in the pace.
It will be fair to have more hitpoints for player's starship.
I'm also can't figure how to throw a disc. I only able to throw disc down.
I'm also in love in the art style and can't beat any enemy. I think, you need to have a learning curve: first battle uses only one button to get the idea and feel the rythm, second button - play with two buttons, third battle - still playing around two buttons, fourth battle - ok, playing on three butoon, and etc.
All my respects to the tutorial you made. Unfortunately, many developers have forgot to explain how to play their games. But you did it!
Good atempt to make a platformer game. Your art on a very good level. My unsolicited advice: put a story in your game, even you have a lack of time and don't have much content. Currently, you have game with two abstract levels. If you say that main character goes into deep mine to save his brother (really simple plot) - it gives a sense of what happening and what we are doing. But if you put a pinch of humor - your game will impact players much more.
Is there main goal or something? Like a catch of rare fish on the bottom.
True engagement and pure emotions! Now I'm thinking about conception of the game: you can run fast, but you will die in any case.
I played a few tries but still not get the idea how to manage the stamina and find gems. I like the idea of mining and going on deeper levels.
The best digging simulator I ever seen!
Wind section on level 2 and no checkpoints - it's a game breaker. But in general quality of your game is good enough and I would like to see more games like this on Ludums.
COMЯADES!
This is really cool idea for a bigger puzzle game
Only the companion cube helps me to survive this game. Perfect execution of the game and of the player.
Gameplay is challenging but it is 100% match with the theme! Good work!
@crotonyl-alcohol thank you!
@maychant I made fix for snapping due to I have few hours before deadline. Thank you for report!
@pashaloban спасибо, что сообщил. Проблема исправлена, русский язык работает во всех версиях.
@euphelys yep, you understand everything as we designed :) btw, did you know what happen if you click on the final picture? ;)
@xpoho это ты ещё не видел мою игру с предыдущего джема 😆 Но вообще тебе сюда https://twitter.com/YarKravtsov/status/1445691478324518917
😍 ❤❤❤ Thank you @molpe !!! All team are happy to see how you playing and appreciating our work. The first let's play in a major step for the project. So emotional!
Thank you for allowing to play no matter how many fails I did. Because I did them a lot :о)
Amazing! Incredible visual style and chilling music.
Typical day in slav city. Big blob fella is my new friend. My pocket full of glowing pebbles and I don't feel good.
Nicely done! I had fun exploring the building.
My record is 4400. I like that everyone doomed no matter how I try to be a good player.
My record: 126880 x26 I'm in love that your game is about having fun in space.
Excellent execution! You guys are pro! I'm happy to see such high level of quality on jams.
Is this Facebook office on Monday?
Bloody fancy brilliant!
I think you miss theme of the jam. "Unstable" means you need to use Unity instead of GameMaker :o)) Cats saves the world! I like simplicity of this conception. With exeption to green bugs that appears from nowhere.
I like games about sailing and road trips. Atmosphere of an adventure and exploring unknown waters.
Gopnik is not a subculture. It is an overculture!
It's kinda funny to play without shooting the mobs.
I think this is a good concept for hyper casual game. More items, more effects, more levels. I see the potential here.
Oh, I see a high art masterpiece here! It is fun, innovative, narrative, and non-linear. Being on the backstage is never had so much entertainment.
I shouldn't brough a sword to a fire fight :)
I thought that one time I will turn my camera on the right to see a stranger on the seat nearby 😅
Failing never was so much fun :)
I can't stop laughing! Totally historically accurate [un]stable simulation!
It's quite interesting idea to make runner where you need to stop and wait. Little controversial, but I like this approach. Btw, if you controll movement by keyboard then it's better to make restart button on keyboard too.
Game looks like a start of something big. I see potential to make a good indie game in unique setting and gameplay. Keep it up!
Thank you for making instant restart. In your gameplay this is the most important part.
Soundtrack of the year! 😂 0.5Gb for voxel art game - typical Unreal Engine 😆 I had fun playing your game. Much better than looting ships in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
This is a good result for the first game jam. I like how time traveling changes the gameplay pace.
@poboy to be clear, I'm not from Ukraine and I never said that I'm from this country. But I have empathy, Ukrainian roots in my family and many good friends from this beautiful country. I hear stories and they make me cry. I just want to reflect this feelings into the game form. Moreover I want to make a statement about wars in general, because what happening in Ukraine is not the first war and unfortunately not the last one.
It was hard, but I did it. Puzzles are clever. I think issue with 7&8 levels in the pace. Every previous level has obvious controls and clear feedback. I beat first 6 levels very quickly. And after that 7&8 feels like it from other game, where you need to spend a lot of time to notice that small elements can work in unusual way. But still very good game I'm happy to play.
It was fun to play with a random guy. I like your brave idea to make the multiplayer game on LD.
Totally Realistic Delivery Simulator
@unkilledshadow135-alex thank you for the idea about quests. I'm thinking about this for the further development. Every game can be better with characters, story and quests. I just didn't have enough time to make it for jam version.
Everyone, thank you for your feedback. Please, let me know if you find any other games made on Roblox on this jam.
Gameboy vibes! You are totally get the style.
I'm impressed by the quality of this game. Even the camera motion and the car trails made with professional approach. This game concept can be evolved into game Vangers or game Gripper.
It will be good to have two levels. One as the current level and other as a small level to learn the basics. You made a very clever game.
This game totally deserves to have a screenshot on the game page. Visual style, atmosphere and slowly developing story - this all makes me feel that I'm playing something more than a small jam game. Outstanding work!
screenshot.png
I like the music and the theme of space traveling. Game has good vibes of the old school games.
It takes time to learn how to land on the planed and how to use fuel efficiently. Thank you for making rocket indestructible. My best moment is when I smash to the land on the high speed, get kicked from the ship and now flying among the stars. Romantic of space!
Metal robot on the motorcycle with flamethrower? Sold!
I wish to play desktop version of this game to avoid issues with performance in the browser version. The concept of the game looks fun, but getting stuck in zombies and obstacles are not fun.
@hatheus thank you for downloadable version. It plays better for me. But now I see another thing to improve. Cracks on the road can be hide by tall buildings so it is easy to stuck in a crack and be blocked by zombies around.
Pizza.png
