LD49 — Unstable

Hexworld by icxon 2021-10-04T21:49:09Z

The art style is great, the game mechanic is creative and interesting, the SFX is on point. Honestly nothing to complain. One tiny confusion: I'm not sure if the physics works properly: sometimes the people falls when I move a little but sometimes they don't even if I move a lot.

2001 Unstable Oddyssey by nopogo 2021-10-06T08:56:33Z

This is such a chill game. The BGM definitely contributes a lot to the mood. I also like the bloom effect a lot, makes the game looks so cool.

Turtles All The Way Down (VR required) by andyman404 2021-10-06T20:04:12Z

Amazing game. Big respect for making a VR game in a game jam! I've only encountered 2 VR games so far, and the other one doesn't work on my PC for some reason.

Anyway, this game is very polished. Your sfx and haptics are really on point, which I think is very important for a VR game. The UI is really clean and pretty too.

I hope that there's some way to reinforce the stack, like making a turtle grabbing two turtles if place between them.

I make VR games too so I know how troublesome it is to make a VR game (putting on and taking off the headset while testing is really annoying), so I really appreciate your efforts to making this game. Good job! 244675129_2557755131037917_8596115761652733610_n.jpg

P.T. Bone-um's Fabulous Tightrope of Terror by Kyrio 2021-10-08T10:46:18Z

At first I thought this is just a Chrome browser dinosaur game with fancy graphics and music, but the light randomly turning on and off makes it feels like a completely different game. It's interesting how a single mechanic can make a game feel so different.

CalmR - Rock Skipping Mindfulness by Eli Delventhal 2021-10-07T19:35:45Z

Not gonna lie, the game got me in the first half :)

Also I really appreciate you put in effort to make a VR version of it. And you nailed the feel of throwing!

One little bug in the end, if the player is not in the origin, the end screen won't be in sight (it does in PC version, not in VR version). Maybe reset player's position after destroying the last piece.

Great job, I like the humor!

Nuclear Faith by jvolonte 2021-10-04T22:41:25Z

This game is so polished, even the itch.io page looks sleek. The audio is great, SFX is on point, the bgm is not intrusive. Graphics and art style is simply amazing. You can even burn your follower for extra power, 10/10 for humor (too). The only thing missing is the tutorial, it's a bit confusing what to do in the beginning. The tips between rounds are useful, but it'll be better if I know them beforehand. Great job!

Office Novice by HermesEs 2021-10-06T09:55:45Z

This is so chaotic, I loved it, especially the "I am fine" meme in it. It's a bit unclear what to do in the beginning (intentional? I guess that's what a intern should feel), my suggestion is to highlight the interactable objects.

Project Earth by anstabo 2021-10-09T18:11:57Z

The UI wasn't showing up on the fullscreen version, but the windowed version did. I find it a bit annoying to have to hold the W button all the time, maybe an option to make it a toggle?

Btw how did you made the hex-sphere thing on the earth? Is it from any library/asset you're using? I've been wanting to make some games with the hex tiled system on a sphere.

Project Earth by anstabo 2021-10-11T21:39:45Z

@ninjacreeper47 ah thanks for the explanation on the hex tile system. That make sense for a game jam, I don't think it's wise to dive deep into some fancy algorithm in a time-constrained situation.

Spanner Fever by stanroy 2021-10-04T21:34:30Z

Fun game! I like that the car control is unstable too, which match the theme quite well. Also nice SFX, a lot of jam games have music but no SFX. Yours is the other way around. If you could add in some music, the game will feel much better.

Unstable Robot Soccer by Ausstein 2021-10-06T22:00:27Z

My favorite was the 3rd ninja-running robot. :)

It very hard to aim with the camera angle, and also the ball being unlit. Another suggestion is to make the explosion smoke semi transparent, so it doesn't block the vision as much.

Time Rift by Unrivaled Super Hottie 2021-10-05T22:38:25Z

Really nice graphics, but my GPU sounds like a helicopter when running the game :). The music is good but it doesn't seems to be fitting the game quite well.

Celestial Waltz by gasgiant 2021-10-07T19:51:55Z

Very cool idea and interesting take to the theme! This is obviously not a complete game yet, but it totally has the potential to become one, once you added more elements to the game, like a goal, and some other factor.

Here's some of my idea (take it if you like it, ignore it if you don't): the goal can be making two body collide and one survive, or making them not separated too far away for x distance. You can even add some new factors like player-generated gravity, or other celestial body passing by.

The Volunteer by DoctorTurbo 2021-10-06T21:15:21Z

The geiger meter sound was my favorite, it gave me goosebump! The fog and monochrome world made quite an atmosphere. Good job.

Balancefield by Codeer 2021-10-05T20:07:35Z

It doesn't runs on the browser but the window build works fine. As other people said, when the field tip over to the other side it's impossible to recover from it due to lost of vision. My highscore is 2:20! (I kinda forgot you can move things around with the hand in the later stage)

Unshippable by MikoziQ 2021-10-04T21:25:37Z

A nice take to the 'unstable' theme. The game play is fun but the two containers bug kinda ruins it a bit. The UI is not working well on my Windows machine too (might due to my ultrawide monitor?).

Unshippable by MikoziQ 2021-10-04T21:53:58Z

@mikoziq no, the UI just doesn't show up. I assume there should be some restart button when the game is over. Resolution is 3440x1440 unship.png

Scrap Pilot by BjornStahl 2021-10-04T23:09:07Z

I can't believe I've already spent almost an hour on this game (and it's so difficult). This reminds me of the game Besiege. Btw some music and a little bit of sfx would be make the game much better.

Edit: I just noticed that in the description you mentioned you can rotate parts by [R]. That'll make the game less difficult (still quite hard tho).

Last Breath by Pious 2021-10-06T09:29:15Z

The art style and music are great, but the gameplay gets repetitive after a certain point. And the stability point has no purpose, it falling to zero has no negative effect, I managed to win the game without using 'Stabilize'.

Precarious Atoms by Turquoise Moon 2021-10-05T22:26:33Z

Creative! Some suggestion here: the electron is very hard to click on, not sure if that's intentional. Also, instead of having multiple difficulty levels, I think it's better to increase difficulty overtime.

Cheating Simulator: Unstable Relationships by kyboon 2021-10-07T08:52:45Z

@fraxxinus the goal is to date as many people as you can, I might need to make it clearer in the future

@vivien-fargette it takes about 20 seconds for a full bar to be emptied, I originally set it to be 30 seconds, but consider this is a game jam I decided to make it a quicker game. btw you can leave it to be unstable, you just have to avoid them

Thanks for all your feedbacks

Cheating Simulator: Unstable Relationships by kyboon 2021-10-08T10:32:36Z

Thanks for the feedbacks guys.

@eli-delventhal @m0dsat I agree that the mechanic is a bit too simple to be interesting, I have more ideas in mind but couldn't implement them due to time constraint. I might add them into the game post jam.

@adrian-guevara thanks for the suggestion. I'll add those moving parts in the future. Just like the basketballs you have in your game :smirk:

Save the Sun by RumiaObsessed 2021-10-06T09:45:07Z

I got one-shot by the earth defense. 10/10 for the humor on that. I agree with @cppchriscpp, if it's a little bit easier it'll be more enjoyable.

Untrailed by bakuchi 2021-10-08T11:27:38Z

Nice game! It gives me a Tron vibe, and tons of fun.

May I suggest another possible way to counter the infinite donut exploit? Maybe make the car slow down when it's touching it's own trail.

And also the car control is too 'Stable' for the theme, maybe increase the slippery-ness?

Paper Work by elbowGeese 2021-10-05T22:45:31Z

Was confusing why the game ends when I was just looking up without doing anything. But the game feels very nice thanks to the nice music and SFX. Really feels like work in real life (in office, not WFH of course)!

Cave In by Rafael Garcez 2021-10-06T21:15:57Z

Gameplay and mechanic is straight forward, and it's really fun. It looks like a game made for mobile, do you consider porting it to mobile platform?

Unstable Adventures of the Space Engineer by Sceef 2021-10-06T09:37:52Z

Who keeps undoing my wiring? The music and atmosphere is amazing, but the gameplay is a bit boring. Some enemies plus limited vision would make the game much more terrifying. Considering it's done in only 3 days and it's your first game jam, I'd say it's still a good job!

Default cube game by Dreamerflow 2021-10-08T10:39:24Z

Today I learned that you can make games with blender. By the way in the first level I fell because I can't see the gap between two platform, maybe change the lighting or color a bit to make it more visible.

Unstable Piles by nulldreams 2021-10-04T22:11:14Z

Sometimes the piles doesn't register correctly. I won in some cases where I shouldn't and I didn't win in some cases where I should. It seems that the bomb is one of the culprit, and also when the bottom pile is not upright.

Spirit Soother by OverloadedPampukin 2021-10-05T23:38:21Z

Nice game, I think you should add a losing condition, like a time limit or something. And I agree that it needs some way to show the soothing progress, it's kinda confusing in the beginning as there's no feedback on that.

Star Miner by Misfire_dev 2021-10-06T20:25:53Z

I like the game, it made me want to replay it a few more times. I agree with some comments above, where you die if you stop on top of the water, I was expecting there to be some (physical) fall off time. I've got all the upgrades but there's no ending as the description said. Or do I need to go further to reach the ending? (I went through a portal but there's still no ending)

Cytoplasm Madness by dagon 2021-10-05T23:50:00Z

How do you start the game? I tried pressing z and x in the same time, it's not starting at all (both browser and exe).

CORE by StudioRightside 2021-10-06T22:53:59Z

This game is not very forgiving. I'd say give the player 3 lives to make it easier.

Also the camera movement is disorienting, if that camera movement and camera shake can be reduced a bit it'll be friendlier to more players.

Nuclear Labs by JoLu Studios 2021-10-06T21:11:41Z

Really fun game. The tutorial has too many words, some gifs to show it instead would be better. But I think it's totally acceptable, as you probably ran out of time. This is a game jam after all.

LD53 — Delivery

Golden Hour by Tyrannas 2023-05-03T19:22:23Z

Beautiful game! Art style is great, the music and sfx are on point too. Left and Right cannon controls are awkward at times but I guess that's by design, once you get pass the learning curve it's pretty satisfying to hit a ship with those cannons.

I also like the map and spawning infos. The game mechanics are easy, but quite some thinking and planning are required if the player wants to get higher score.

Just one minor suggestion: the font is a bit hard to read, maybe get another font that fits the game theme without sacrificing readability.

Good job!

Beelivery by Jejkobb 2023-05-09T20:01:22Z

Great game! So fun that I played it till the end.

Very good level design. The two logs with the horizontal slits checkpoint is the most difficult in my opinion, spent most time on it.

May I suggest some idea? A checkpoint with a really large fan that blows sideway. And a checkpoint with inverted gravity.

Delivery City by digital bacon 2023-05-07T14:47:44Z

Was a little bit confused where the locations are, but that's easy to find out after a while as there's not many places. But if you're planning to expand it to a bigger city (as you said in the description), you'll need a map so it's easier to navigate around, especially for new players.

Return To Sender by Aurailus 2023-05-04T20:30:35Z

I got a score of 250. Not sure if it's high or not, but for the next day I try to read the message when you Approve/Deny stuff, and my score went down to 46.

(My dear boss at Amozom, I gave my review, can I get my children back? -- Your favorite Intern #346787123)

Food Factory by oscarglo 2023-05-07T16:50:17Z

Good job on the game. Obviously it's missing a lot of stuffs, but I've tried to make a similar game in a jam before and I understand how much work is behind the seemingly easy mechanics, so I really appreciate what you've done here.

To: Tony by miraculousMelon 2023-05-04T19:34:44Z

Hi Boss,

I keep getting the same package to Charta via van. I'm 3 hours overtime now and still sorting the packages. Also there's people drawing and writing nonsense on the shipping label, which made them really hard to read.

Best Regards, Tony

Interstellar Delivery by KudneuS 2023-05-07T17:41:57Z

What I like:

The music and vibe is amazing.

Well done on having different screens (main game screen, maps, etc), and switching between them is quite seamless.

Great UI implementation, I rarely see UI with such complexity (pop up windows, list, etc) done in a game jam, especially that I don't see any obvious bug on the UI.

What could be better:

I'm not an art person, but I believe that for pixel arts, the pixel size should be the same for different objects. For example, if you look at the station and the planet separately, they don't seems to be in a same game.

Gameplay vise it's a bit lacking, you just buy station and ship, and that's all. It would be fine if there's some goal or penalty or timer, which requires the player to plan out their buying/expand strategy.

Power Delivery by SharpLoaded 2023-05-01T16:52:36Z

Great game and idea! The economy is unbalanced towards the end, as you always have too much currency to spend by then. Also it's impossible to lose the game, it's just a matter of time to win. Maybe instead of making the buildings generate money over time, you get money for once off when the power is connected, so the player will need to plan out the building order.

Some sfx would go a long way. Playing some sound when placing down buildings and connecting them will improve the game feel a lot.

Btw, the game didn't end automatically when I had both city on green, no prompting too.

Meowxtape: Delivery by crow_seeds 2023-05-04T19:55:31Z

Got to the end on first try! I'm a talented gamer you know :)

Too bad the game just restarted at that point, was hoping for an ending screen, but that's already a lot of content for a jam game so I guess that's asking too much.

My favorite is "TRY TO LOOK AWAY" "FROM YOUR PHONE", which ironically made me put more attention on the phone. Oh and the "delivered but not read" part too, laughed my ass off.

Grab N' Dash by kyboon 2023-05-04T18:55:25Z

Thanks for all your feedbacks!

@cypheus yeah it make sense, for the post jam version I'll add an alternative control for it.

@tyrannas I know the early game is slow too, but that was designed to let new players to get used to the controls first. Maybe I can add a dash button so player who already learnt the controls can fast forward to late game.

Grab N' Dash by kyboon 2023-05-07T17:21:55Z

@resacagames @trevor-lentz thanks for playing! I've updated the game on itch page as a post jam version, which should address the slow beginning and one hand controls feedbacks.

Grab N' Dash by kyboon 2023-05-08T23:12:34Z

@sarah-alexa Thanks. I used music and sfx from asset store so I opted out audio. For the keys, I added and alternative control U/I/O/P in the post jam version, assuming that the player will use right hand for the claws. I suppose I can add 1/2/3/4 as the left hand alternative in a later version?

Galactic Roadside Assistance by SpaceyLake 2023-05-01T20:56:57Z

Not sure what game engine you're using, but windows defender is not liking the exe. Anyway, I ran it, and glad that I did.

A very polished game

Great graphics, decent music and good sfx, intuitive controls, bugless, and I think the game is even ready to be sold on steam. I like the art style, a bit neon brings some futuristic vibe, but not too overwhelming. This game reminds me of Elite Dangerous, there's a group of players named Fuel Rats bringing fuel to people stranded in dozens of systems away.

Some very minor downside

I'm using an ultrawide display, the main menu and UI is a bit off to me. The gameplay is a bit slow, I hope that there's a toggle for the game speed.

Outer Space Snacks by Coro_yy 2023-05-01T17:01:41Z

The game is too hard, maybe that's by design? The spacecraft goes out of control easily, I suggest adding a slight damping to the speed.

Delivery Dungeon by Buni 2023-05-01T17:39:58Z

Well done! There's definitely some part that requires some polishing, but for a compo submission it's already quite decent.

The projectile collision could be better, sometimes they are blocked by the walls even if they're quite some distance away.

The game does speed up later in the game once you get the upgrades, but it is really slow at the beginning. For my second upgrade, the options ranges from 21 to 36 coins, at that time I have to take nearly 10 seconds to get one coin, which translates to about 5 minutes (including travelling through the map) just to progress one upgrade. 5 minutes isn't too long for a proper game, but is definitely too long for a game jam game where ppl don't usually spend much time to play.

Having the "Map" hotkey on M makes sense, but when the player's left hand is on WASD and right hand is on the mouse, it's very awkward to reach it. Perhaps add an alternative binding to the map? For example Q or E or R or F or G or even Crtl or Shift.

COLD CHEDDAR by deadjolly 2023-05-07T15:17:56Z

Might be the best SFX I've seen so far, the engine sounds are top notch. Also the car leaves trails behind? Wow.

It's very hard to control the car, but rewarding to learn.

The 3 slots is an interesting idea, (almost) making the player need to plan out which to deliver first. Why almost? Because there's no map, and which type of customer you meet first is up to luck, their required toppings might or might not match what you're carrying.

The game has a lot in details, but in the grand scheme of things it's missing a lot of components as a game. The gameplay loop itself is not completed in my opinion, there's no game over condition, no goal, no penalty.

Anyway, still a great job on the game. I understand this is a jam game and there will be things that the devs want to implement but didn't have the time to do so.

Fresh'n Hot by Lulunaria 2023-05-07T14:53:13Z

Pretty cool typing game. A few suggestions here:

The "success" sfx doesn't sound very rewarding. Also if there's some when adding ingredient that'll be great.

There's no penalty for pressing wrong button. I can just face-roll the keyboard a few times and press enter and it's still a success order.

Anyway, still a good concept and fun game nonetheless! Great job!

Crabload of Shells by mitur 2023-05-07T22:21:29Z

Really fun game. Simple but interesting gameplay, and intuitive controls.

The pixel art and sound effects are pretty good too.

I hope that the game spawns enough required shells around the map, when the crab with requirement appears. The requirement was like 4 red shells and there was only one on the map and I had to wait a while for the rests to spawn.

Some music would be great.

BALA!!! by DSK 2023-05-07T15:00:21Z

Can't really play the game as I'm using an ultrawide monitor and I assume some buttons are missing on my screen, the game automatically goes full screen and there's no way to make it in windows mode.

bala.JPG

BALA!!! by DSK 2023-05-07T22:09:04Z

@flynow Thanks, I played the html 5 version and it works perfectly.

What I like:

- Simple but interesting gameplay. - The art style is amazing. Don't know how your team did that, I noticed that it's a blend of pixel art and hand drawings, but they just compliments each other so well, instead of conflicting. - Good and suitable music. - SFX are on point. - Nice UI. The buttons got audio feedback for clicking? Such an attention to detail, in a jam game. The overall presentation of the game is done very well.

What could be better:

- I wish that there's some audio indicator when the dish I delivered/remaked is a success or fail. I had to rely on looking at chef's face to know so. That requires a lot of vision attention, especially when the player should have their eyes on the customer/meal details most of the time. - As some have mentioned, the fonts are hard to read sometimes.

Pancakes Won't Wait by SamChen 2023-05-03T19:31:53Z

OMG the sound effects are so funny! It just made the game much more fun. The comic style graphics is also very cool too. Controls are slippery but that actually matches the other parts of the game so well.

It's very hard to find the customers on the large map, maybe some indicator or error would be helpful.

LostAndFound by Shiirroo 2023-05-03T19:50:12Z

Nice concept! Game mechanics and controls are intuitive, you just move to the suitcases and then move to the associated passenger. Simple but it works.

Btw I noticed that the passengers are rendered behind the white table. You can change the sorting order in the SpriteRenderer, or simply change the z-height to fix that.

One more parcel - sorting plant by Pamuk85 2023-05-03T19:35:34Z

Both LD page and itch link are not working.
