Love this game! but it's too hard for me

nicmagnier 2021-10-05 15:56

Really cool game. I really love the art style and the music. It plays well. Maybe my main issue would be that the bullets are a bit too fast and difficult to dodge. But otherwise, well done.

tubyuwu 2021-10-05 17:14

Congrats! You did a pretty good job in so small time! :P

quite-good 2021-10-05 23:48

Right off the bat I loved this game for the hilarious intro scene. Straight to the point gameplay, fair difficulty and super clean visuals + mechanics. By far the most polished game I've seen this jam. And the fact that you're on a giant moving creature is so cool. Loved everything about this game! Only thing is it's initially unclear what your relationship is with the small dudes but I caught on quickly enough. Stellar work!

kyboon 2021-10-05 23:50

How do you start the game? I tried pressing z and x in the same time, it's not starting at all (both browser and exe).

fabioecco 2021-10-05 23:50

I almost thought it was an idle game. lol I love the art style, good job.

cope 2021-10-05 23:55

The music is awesome.

marc-jones 2021-10-05 23:55

A really nicely presented game. I thought the idea of having to protect the organelles which affected the rate at which your ammo came back was interesting. I didn't find the shooting mechanics particularly satisfying though, and I don't think it fitted the theme that well. I did enjoy that you could use the nucleus as cover!

validdark 2021-10-05 23:56

The art style is pretty cool, nice tight gameplay loop. I enjoyed playing it.

proz 2021-10-05 23:56

Love this style and music!

pavocado 2021-10-05 23:56

A nice little game! Love the music and the art style

ericfreeman 2021-10-05 23:57

Cute game! I made it to 1850 score. The sound effects, music, and art all really fit the mood of the game. It felt very polished and I liked the little cutscene at the beginning. Overall, this is a really cool project for a game jam!

mspawa 2021-10-06 00:01

I really liked this game!! I love this mechanics and I enjoyed a lot killing those microscopical unstable thingies. I liked a lot the music, sound effects and the 8bit graphics. But I still don't get what function does those little blue friends have?

unfocused-locust-games 2021-10-06 00:02

I have to start by saying I was enamored with the pixel art; I think PICO-8 is a great style to emulate. The shooting gameplay was solid, but I didn't really understand the meter at the top or the side bar, along with my other cell buddies. I didn't knock you for it, though; I assume I missed a tutorial at the start or something.

alec 2021-10-06 00:06

Super polished game for you first LD, great job! I had a hard time understanding what the little blue guys did, maybe a short tutorial would have been good. The art is super crisp, great music, and I appreciated the little detail of bullets having some auto-honing (nice touch)

nanobuilder 2021-10-06 00:27

I didn't know what the little blue dudes were about, I just knew I had to protect them. Using the timer bar as a health bar was a neat touch. Enamored by the art+music combination, really full of personality with so little fidelity!

jaknifed 2021-10-06 00:41

Oh wow, what a cute little game! I really enjoyed how polished it was and gameplay did not have any noticeable flaws. There were some things that could have really benefited from a tutorial showing all the UI elements or obstacles/enemies. It's a little embarrassing, but it took a while to figure out the shoot buttons too, since usually its mouse or space or something. Other than that, a beautiful game!

proxy-games 2021-10-06 00:51

This game is really well done. The graphics match the PICO-8 style really well, and the music is really catchy. The gameplay is simple, but well done, and I didn't run into any bugs with it. This game is REALLY well polished for a game jam, and it honestly impresses me. Great job.

Thank You all for the feedbacks!!!! I'm in love with all of this s2 s2

guimoliveira 2021-10-06 01:30

It's a good game, and very polished. Sometimes I felt lost... I don't know... I didn't understand what was happening. Good music/sounds and graphics. Well done.

dagon 2021-10-06 01:48

Thank you @guimoliveira s2 s2

euler-moises 2021-10-06 02:47

I loved it. I saved it here in my browse to keep playing and go further and further. Graphics, music and gameplay that fit together very well!

Congratulations!

bloodbane 2021-10-06 05:05

Unstability is in game's story. That being said, it's a good game.

hiko-game 2021-10-06 06:56

Oh, this is made with GMS2 ?! It looks just like PICO-8! Art is simple but really good, especially a big enemy. Nice game play. I wanted the sound effect of running out of bullets.

luis-felipe-patrocinio 2021-10-06 12:59

Yes, @hiko-game , it was made on GMS2, with lots of love! It was my first submission to Ludum Dare and we are very happy with all the feedback so far! Really thank you guys, we are very touched!

slimmerburger 2021-10-06 19:34

The graphics and audio on this game are just phenominal, honestly adored it

transylvanian-blacksmiths 2021-10-06 19:59

The graphics are cool, amazing color pallet and engaging gameplay. Music and sounds are well done and animations, simple and effective. One small complain, the control scheme was a little weird.

muros 2021-10-07 12:03

I liked the game. Very cute and simple graphics and colors. Very funny gameplay, emphasizing perky music.

ditam 2021-10-07 20:47

That soundtrack is hot fire. Very cool style, and a lot of fun. A great advertisement for the Pico8-style, even if you didn't actually use that engine.

badpiggy 2021-10-09 13:15

Great graphics and setting. Loved how the arena actually looked like a micro-organism. The visual style and art are all great. Loved the SFX and the music as well. Mechanically though, I felt like the game really needed more. I understand that your health dwindles away as time passes and the little guys give you back ammo, but it sometimes caused unwinnable situations. This happens a lot with the boss when he's invulnerable and the turrets shoot at you and since you can't really do anything other than dodge, you basically die unless you have enough health. A way to regain health would have worked well with the game. Some sort of mechanic which made use of the little guys as well besides affecting the rate at which your ammo replenished would have also been really helpful. Either way though, what's here is definitely fun. Good job on this entry none the less

luis-felipe-patrocinio 2021-10-09 13:33

I really appreciate your feedback. @badpiggy ! I agree with all your points, but the truth is we didn't have much time to keep polishing... We focused on implementing as many features as possible in the short time we had (cutscenes, boss, win/loss screens, etc), and fix any bugs that appeared!

And curiosity: There is a way to regain life in the boss, which is to successfully dodge all the bullets from the turrets. By doing this, a heart appears and recover your health. =)

kaytrill 2021-10-09 18:26

For the introduction the intro sequence was every so slightly a bit too wordy. Try to keep it to 5-6 words per sentence tops and 3 sentences. The simpler the better.

On the introduction page the press Z+X to continue is slightly buggy. It took some effort to get the game realize they are being pressed. Perhaps the check is done in the wrong loop?

There seems a slight issue when you start firing without having pressed a key, that it will immediately fire downwards. I would have expected after starting at the bottom to immediately fire upwards always.

Furthermore I love the screen transitions and the delayed player intro.

At last I find it very frustrating that dying enemies keep blocking my bullets. I would expected to shoot through them the moment they are no longer relevant. Or a different solution when a dying enemy absorbs my bullet and I want to hit the person behind him.

There is also a slight issue when a melee enemy crawls in the middle of my 4 bullet spawners, it becomes impossible to hit him wihtout friendly fire.

ldjq 2021-10-10 08:45

I like the art style and music.

It would be nice to have more information about what the different gauges represent.

ribout-horace 2021-10-10 14:15

Cute and (kind of) colorfull ! I love the color palette and all the animation made the game feel alive and well ! And most of all, the music is really powerfull and make me want to explose the high score !

Love the result !
