Shark Lazer Hands by HeuGamer 2015-04-22T13:01:00
I lol'd when i saw the feet in the walking animation xD Really funny. Also fun to play

I lol'd when i saw the feet in the walking animation xD Really funny. Also fun to play
This is so far the best pixel art I encountered playing this compo. Really well made. The animations also feel really polished
Really loved the overall theme and feel. And I can just see myself bashing on the same keyboards with 3 other idiots ^^ well done!
Nicely done ascii art. A rare gem these days
Really love the color scheme of the art. Well done!
Really loved the background statues pixel art. Also the gameplay is fun
The vending machine mechanic is well thought out. Cool take on the theme
Liked the powerup throw. A suggestion for next entry. Make the first person controller be just a camera so you dont get the weird glitchy I can look into my own body experience when you look down :)
I really liked the mood and soundtrack went really well with that.
A cool game, a good idea for next entry would be to start off with a tutorial section in which you explain the mechanics part by part.
Cool concept. would like to see a finished version!
Cool concept. I like the uniqueness of the problem :)
the web version ran out of memory for me. will check later to see if its fixed
Fun mechanics. I like the idea of cleansing the area.
Got a hotline miami-esk vibe from this. nice entry
Very cool take on the theme!
Cool idea. really loved the fact it recorded every keystroke. missed a play again button though
Like the concept of using airlocks as weapons
Like the huge variety of weapons
Fun Little entry. Liked the 100% vocal sound effects :)
Background hurts my eyes. The rest is fun :)
made it only 18 waves xD
Really hard game. Like the gravity mechanics of it. The only thing I would change is maybe have 1 minion in the beginning, because if you run into an enemy instead of minion on the first go its instant game over.
Really like the artstyle of the main character, fun game
Very hard, but that's a good thing ^^. The only thing I don't like is the very short music loop.
Cool little game, lol'd at the game over screen :)
Movement feels very crisp, and in platformers thats ofc the most important thing! well done :)
A really interesting take on the theme. Well thought out
Really cool game. Love the sound effects and the evolving part. Only downside I found is you could only find food "at spawn"
Very cool idea! Nice way to incorporate the theme with VR (though technically this is considered AR, Augmented Reality)
Very cool platformer. Real clever use of teleporters and water to be able to navigate vertically without jumping.
I loved the tutorial esk difficulty ramp which made it a fun exploration of what the game would offer me next level.
When I first saw a gif of this game I thought it was going to be an endless climber. The result turned out waaay better then I imagined. Really love the controls of this game, also really dig the visuals with all the little pixel particle effects. Would love to see this as a full game!
Cool game, the randomness of the pickups makes you want to keep playing! fun!
Fun concept. Love the aesthetics and the use of the theme. Didn't have any trouble with the cow though, he just vanished after a while, so that made the game way too easy.
It's a game with potential, but for me it lacks a bit of difficulty curve.
Original idea with the current theme's. The variety in obstacles kept it fresh. Only thing I would suggest with a soundloop this short is a mute button.
really LOVE the hand drawn aesthetic of the game. The ripple effect left me a bit nauseas I think. So maybe make that optional.
Interesting concept. Great execution. Really laughed at the I<3 cats station. great humour.
A lovely visual novel with beautiful images. The only thing I could think of improving this is maybe a soundtrack.
Cool and original idea. Fun to play, nice art and a fitting soundtrack.
I like the art style and story aspect of the game. The game would benefit a lot if you added sound to it. Other then that fun game
The not getting audio was a fault on my part. This game has great audio even, it sets the mood perfectly!
I got to 67. Cool little shmup. One tip, don't name your file l34. It makes it annoying to find in the download map amongst all other entries.
Laughed way to hard at the first gif of this on irc. Loves the humour of the laying eggs part. What I did not expect was a surprisingly difficult game ! cool concept, great execution. Loved the art style and the little meeehs, if only they weren't so bloody stupid and all fall to their death
Love the aesthetics of this game. The walking animation, the slime animation. But really the terminal intro is what sets the mood perfectly.
The game is crazy difficult. But because you are instantly thrown back into the fray this is not as frustrating. Good simple concept with solid execution. The argument is already made for a continuous soundtrack (I second that)
Fun little game that has potential. One thing I found that for me, the balls were too far apart so I had to switch my focus from left to right. The game would be easier to play if the two "tracks" were a bit closer together imho.
Very beautiful game, controls like a dream. looks great. You are crazy to have done this in 72 hours :)
Very interesting take on the theme. Loved the mechanical aspect and the art style. Sometimes the camera would be wonky and show the inside of the characters head. other then that impressive game for such a short timespan
A fun little platformer with potential. Albeit a little short. Really missed sounds, that would greatly improve this game imho
Cool platformer. Lot of content. The only thing that I didn't like is the knockup of enemys on hit, they made the controls feel all weird for me.
Fun concept. would like the ability to craft more miners for faster mining :)
Didnt really get what was going on. screen was mostly dark. the firing of projectiles worked but that was about it.
With a bit of more work this could become a decent tower defense.
The two biggest things to tackle I think would be 1. better balance of enemy health vs. the attacks of the turrets. and 2. To show the cost of the turrets on the cards.
Keep it up!
Really like the fact you went with a rhythm game, original! Also clever to incorporate a high score. At first I didn't see the need for the space bar. But then you threw in false notes and I had a gotcha moment. :)
Really cool concept, lovely art. Love the endless building potential this game has.
I like the 2d sprites in a 3d world aesthetic.
It's an impressive game with a lot of options such as picking up weapons etc.
Two issues I have with this game. I can't see the connection to the themes, and it's an exact copy of paint the town red.
Fun game with an interesting combination of both themes. Only thing I really missed was an indicator for the next log
Fun game, I managed to get to 2300. I love the art style of the flower, and clever use of kickback of the gun as a platformer mechanic.
The font in the menu was a bit hard to read when the text was really small. And on gameover the sound of the lazer stuck and looped forever. overall a neat game :)
Found it really visually interesting the way the aesthetics kept changing over time. The game sometimes hangs a few frames. But still it conveys the mood really well. Excellent choice of sound and music. I get that it's not meant to be "fun" but it did strike a chord with me in a good way
Fun game, controls took a while to sink in but after that it was neat to get into. Didn't really get rage mode though :P
Also I couldn't eat tanks, maybe I just wasn't big enough yet.
Maybe make more builds so people can play this in the browser?
Simple concept, but the simplest concept often make the best puzzles. the skill needed ramps up quite well which keeps each next lvl interesting. what a frustrating game (in a good way) also, Love the udder puns! :D
I really like the concept of the game and the metaphor behind it. It is a really hard game which surprised me (in a good way)
It helps if you don't name your executable ld34 though, the name of the game would be easier to find in the middle of all other downloaded l34 games.
Very good puzzle game. I am finishing this before I go play something else! (at lvl 12 atm) only thing i'm missing is a mute button for the music, since the loop is quite short it gets anoying after a while. GREAT puzzles. I love the use of pickup order, it really forces you to stop and think.
cool concept. like the endlessly growing part. its something that ill be playing for a while :)
cool concept. like the endlessly growing part. its something that ill be playing for a while :) Got to the lawyer part, don't know if there is any more to it.
The level of detail in the graphics is REALLY impressive. The memorizing bit starts of as difficult but gets easier with more playthroughs. Also liked the humour in the written parts.
Very cool game. Really liked the art style and randomness of the events. Only thing I would add is skippable dialogue because some text keeps recurring.
Cool game, reminded me of defender. Really difficult
nice mashup of 2 clasics. love the artstyle with the vibrant colors and black background. well done
Thanks for all the feedback so far :) Cancelling out of state will be added in the post LD version.
Thanks very much for all the feedback. I'll add audio in the post ld version. I will also rework the timer system and ice physics.
Holy... what a difficult game. Very nice artstyle. Felt really unnatural to use space for anything other then jumping. But once you get into the flow of things it really plays amazing.
Lovely artstyle. It really fits the games theme. Interesting jump mechanics, at times reaaaally frustrating to jump up a ledge. But that's not necessarily a bad thing :)
It gives me a real oldschool lemmings feel. The soundeffects the ooze makes is adorable. Great little game :)
Im getting an out of memory error for the webgl build
final score of 440. The flavor text is what got me. Like the humour :)
that raizor noise just cracked me up. Great game, really oddly satisfying. :)
Found it very difficult to stear the spikes in lvl 2. also if you boot it up the music is REALLY loud :P maybe balance that a bit. overall fun concept
Took me a bit to get the concept, but after that it was fun for a bit. Maybe add some more difficulty as time progresses, otherwise it is a bit too easy.
LOVE the shading in this game. really reminds me of obra dyn.
how did you accomplish that?
Liked the perspective and controls. Also great level design.
Fun little munchkin type game. Nice twist how you keep adding to your deck. Found the cards difficult to read at times when there was a lot of text.
Took me a while to figure out you needed to walk over the ooze to pick it up. After that it was a blast :D When I first became "upgraded" the intensity level really intensified. Great game!
Very fun game, like the randomness of the card draw combined with puzzling mechanics reminiscent of cluedo.
What would help is numerical values over at the stats, since you have actual values on the cards this would help decide.
Also maybe a way to mark areas as "cleared", but maybe this would make it too easy.
Very fun game!
Thanks for the feedback everyone :), I've fixed the regrowing of wool bug. Sadly there wasn't really time to add more agency to the game. The idea was to have maintenance costs on your farm so the goal would become to make enough money to pay your bills by the end of each season. But due to time constraints that had to be cut from development.
The sheep can walk over the ledge though :) Whats missing right now is an incentive to actually make money. The plan was to have a papers please style system were you have bill to pay or its game over. However there wasn't enough time to implement such a system
too bad its only for macos :(
The first few times i walked straight into the fire like a dumb-ass :) A few bugs I encountered: - Shooting furniture will stick the bullets on top of each other, you cannot pass the bullets and it takes a few seconds for them to disappear.
- after I killed 2 enemies they stopped spawning
the gun also didn't feel very satisfying, that was because of a number of reasons: - no reload time or time between shots, you can just spam bullets. - the gun sounds the same every shot, since you are hearing this sound a lot this gets annoying very fast. - the bullets were really big compared to the person, a smaller bullet would make it feel more "realistic"
hope this feedback helps :)
Maybe it was my audio but that gun sounds was loud as BALLS. That said, it's the first shooter I've played this LD rating that had a gun that felt powerful, so well done on that regard. Also really liked the fact it wasn't just shoot the thing but you added a fun twist that wasn't just optional but vital to the game.
One point of critique, don't call your file game.zip. A lot of people are voting for a lot of games and finding the zip in your download folder is annoying if everybody names it that :)
next LD if you have trouble finding a programmer hit me up! your art is on point! Downloading tabletop simulator now to give this a try :)
edit*
I quickly tried setting up a game since I didn't have anybody to play with right now. The grid works really well placing the cards so it doesn't get messy. I also really dig the artwork. A suggestion I would give is have a copy of the rules in the game for anybody who downloads this directly from the workshop.
Liked the theme and the visuals. Only thing i would like is a sword swing when enemies aren't close enough, because in the beginning i had the feeling mousecontrols weren't working
Love the audio, the graphics and the style you went for. That being said, in a shootemup its very important you can clearly see all the projectiles to make it "fair" to the player. But when you have the impact explosion of your gun (purple) or the exploding enemies (red) be very big and in front of the bullets that makes them very difficult to see.
I liked the game overall, some points of critique: - there is a bug if you pickup a booster it zooms you out till the point the screen is just black - the gun doesn't "feel" very powerfull, this is mostly due to the fact you can just hold down the shoot button, it takes multiple hits to kill any form of enemy and the sound doesn't feel very gun like.
- The camera was also very zoomed in so its hard to see enemies coming before they hit you, which feels kinda unfair.
Hope this feedback helps you guys!
The intro really cracked me up. Liked the chip tune, but since it played on an endless loop and was a bit too short it sadly got annoying pretty fast.
Had to play this with keyboard since I don't have a controller. But that said I didn't have the feeling I had any control to where I was going, which made it hard to even start the game.
It was also difficult to access what the goal was of the game, spamming the controls filled up a meter, but never fully so the game didn't change beyond the first level.
Now this all could be because I played with the keyboard but sadly I can't verify that for you.
Hope the feedback helps :)
p.s. I would remove the option to donate on ich.io its an extra click for anybody trying the game and you are entering a jam competition, not trying to sell your game :)
Twitch chat forced me a second play-through to see both endings. Really well made!
I played this on stream and almost cried. Y u do this? But seriously a gorgeous game with a compelling message.
41 seconds, while my fiance was laughing at how much I was getting into this game. Great entry! will definitely play the updated version when it comes out !!
Maybe one of the best world building I have seen so far this LD. Eery is the best way I can describe it
Very cool and polished result! I love the ideas for the twitch integration
Great movement controls as always @timbeaudet. Dig the driftiness. The camera switch when you change directions was a bit jarring at times. Killing it with the racing games!
Great theme throughout the game. I really liked the environment design and the game-over screen. my biggest issue was the audio balancing, the explosion and music are way louder then the other sounds. I also feel the enemies don't chase enough, if you stay far away you can snipe them without them shooting back. Never got the buying upgrade to work but maybe I didn't find the correct place to stand in. Maybe you could make a fixed buy phase after you finish a rotation? great effort overall!
I like the concept. I feel like the biggest issue right now is a lack of ramping difficulty. The game throws everything at you constantly which takes away from any tactics and makes you spam F and A. But nothing that a little bit of balance tweaking cant fix, great job!
Very cool concept. I love how each of the note blocks you leave behind change the soundscape very clever way to add an extra dimension to the gameplay. Only thing I found out is that if you are touching a block you can spam jump (I don't know if that is intended) Great effort!
Really digged the style and the mood. The music together with the art made it compelling. Took me a little bit of effort to figure out controls (use up arrow key to interact and space to select menu options for anybody else struggling) Great effort!
Got to the "put it back" bit. then the gameover screen was a bit much. overall very interesting experience
Thank you everybody for the responses and great feedback :) we appreciate all of you taking your time and leaving a comment.
1964 high score. fun little game, very satisfying audio with the cork plops
such a unique idea! love it. great execution. well done to you all!
very good mood, made it halfway the second tier. becomes quite challenging
how did you get the warcraft orc voice actor to VO for this??? amazing 10/10
Thank you everybody that took the time to provide feedback. It is really insightful and means a lot :)
The character has a flashlight facing forward that lights up the asteroids in a dramatic way, in the final build we did for submission I broke that (this is the main reason the game feels so dark)
Most of the stuff suggested was on the to do list but I only had 1,5 days to work on this due to rl obligations.
@anchorlight the soundscape is actually about 8 different sounds that play at random intervals in 4 different layers, it gets triggered by code so I have no way of exporting that out to a track unfortunately.
136 was my best distance, I love how the ballast doesn't exactly match so keeping it steady is always tricky. Very addictive gameplay, cute art, love the use of the theme!
Saw woz play this on stream so had to give it a go. Really unique take on the theme. Love the style and humour. The game became a bit laggy after a while but other then that great submission!
def the most interesting puzzle mechanics ive seen this time, great execution!
Cool concept, but I was in desperate need for some sort of wiki
I see what you did there :) camera got stuck in a corner below a table a couple of times, other then that it was nice and straightforward, love the visuals and the dry humor of it all
the magnifying glass with the mirrors are a very unique idea I haven't seen any other tower defense game do. Great idea!
To me the climbing and jumping while waiting for more too spawn was a bit frustrating. I wondered what would happen to the gameplay if you have a fixed number of flees at the start that you have to finish the level with
absolutely in love with the aesthetics! what a gem of a game
my favorite thing about this was the ghost shading, clever way of fresnel. I would maybe keep the recipes on screen because I had a bad time remembering.
Reading the description I was expecting a vikings style puzzle game. But I got something very unique, well done :) the trickiest to figure out for me was the movement of the yellow triangles, the rest was very intuitive
love the graphics, the camera lean to the left and right had me a bit nauseus so unfortunately couldn't play it long
