LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Grow In VR by hpearson2 2015-12-15T21:24:00

As stated in the above comments this is Augmented Reality and not Virtual Reality. I chose to call it Virtual Reality to make it much easier to explain to family and friends without them seeing the game in person.

Grow In VR by hpearson2 2015-12-17T21:37:00

@KaiseanGames thank you that is the best compliment I could ever hope for and totally brightened my day! The full page QR codes (in the drop box) work a lot better and less fiddly to use. The larger pages also help massively with camera focus.

the game works on both scales (single page of QR codes | 1 page per QR codes), but I wouldn't mingle the size scales in the game.

*I shouldn't have used QR codes, because they are very similar to each other but it is much easier to explain to someone with QR codes. If a qr codes matches a 3D model incorrectly you can "reset" it by covering it then reshowing it to the camera.

Grow In VR by hpearson2 2015-12-22T00:27:00

@Starspell If you are compiling from source it has to be unity 5.2.2f1 (32 bit) with no deviation. 64 bit or newer versions will produce a black screen with button on-top of where video should be. What tablet are you using ill see if I can patch and update for you.

I tested on Galaxy S4, Dragon touch x10 tablet, Huawei Ascend II, and Acer tablet iconia a1 (Device I own and handy to test with).

Grow In VR by hpearson2 2015-12-26T06:23:00

@miwuc Thank you for trying it out :)

(I'm new to unity so I coded it the way I knew how)
Watering plants grows them slowly and not an immediate affect. The watering can uses an invisible ray-cast instead of particles to water plants. So the water stream is a guide line but is just an illusion. The watering can, sometimes clips inside the collision box of the plant and will not register if too close.

*In game mode the smaller plant makes it more difficult to hit, educational mode should be much easier.

This should help you :) (there is no technical reason for watering not to work)

Grow In VR by hpearson2 2016-01-05T02:58:00

Thank you everyone so much!

STALKer by Hegemege 2015-12-14T02:13:00

Two button and growing!, relaxing to play and has good music :) I wish it was a little more lax on path selection (Keeps making a new branch rather then follow a made one)
(hold left or right to follow branch, press left or right to make new path)

Anyway,
:D good work man!

Containment by paste0x78 2015-12-15T03:59:00

I can move wires at the start but if I sit for a second and let the physics settle down I am no longer able to click or select wires to move. This is a repeatable error for me and I am unable to continue with the game due to this.

I believe I get the gist of the game and I think it would be a neat thing to play if it had some more development. (would have made an awesome ww2 enigma game) although the graphics were not completed it has a good look and feel

Magic Hero by Mixon00 2015-12-15T04:08:00

Good short little game, follows the theme well. It could have used more feedback on weather it was a successful button press.

Kin by purrpurr 2015-12-22T03:23:00

A religious game in Ludum Dare? Ok cool lets get into it. I like the lightning effects. Not enough info in the hints bar turned the game into trial and error (might be by design)

Gift Wrapper by NightShadow0 2015-12-22T03:01:00

Nice little game, I like the multiple control scheme and it prevent the browser from jumping all over the place. The music is quite sharp.

Babality by Spaghetti and Meatball 2015-12-16T01:19:00

What did I just play? lol ok the goal of the game is humorous and I hate me some babies but feels forced and a bit incomplete. I would love to see a more flushed out version. Almost like a lan-party carmageddon :)

OrbiHop by TnT 2015-12-21T01:57:00

You Make It To The Mansion... by Esjaji 2015-12-19T21:20:00

UI didn't scale for me and had to alt-f4 to exit. The bad grows and slows you down a lot faster then I would like, 95% of loot will have to left and never touched because picking up an extra apple is a massive gamble already. (It is hard to complete the game without getting any loot). With all that said I liked the game, the sound and shadows are nice and the AI is decent/retarded enough to have charm. Good mood

Crusher Escape Race by monsterkillu 2015-12-13T22:21:00

*No exit button had to alt-f4 out of the game
*Game over text was partially cropped out of frame

"Done in less than 4 hrs" holy cow man! good work!

Snake Runner by SketchyGalore 2015-12-22T03:33:00

Death worm?
http://sandbox.yoyogames.com/games/72097-death-worm

Very close game to death worm enough for me to be suspicious and cynical. Besides that I want to give a fair balanced review of what I see. Lets give this game a go

Nice tie in with two button controls. I like the humor with the hats and gives the game some sensitive to play. I was wrong and the game-play is closer to flappy bird then death-worm. Sound is nice.

They Grow by megahold 2015-12-13T22:15:00

Fun game, took a few tries to get the hang of it.
(I thought more energy was better and couldn't figure out I was overloading the gun) Once I figured that out the game plays nicely :)

Seicho Boru by Robert 2015-12-22T03:07:00

Humor is spot on!

Hand of Deity by Ludorverr 2015-12-13T23:13:00

Great game! Like a top down lemmings. Awesome music and was upset that the game ended I would have played for longer :)

Momentum by Wumbo 2015-12-19T21:26:00

I couldn't get the game to join a server or host a server. Menu had scaling issues for me. Was unable to create web server.

Pixies Flowers by puppetmaster 2015-12-19T21:29:00

Was a treat to play :)

SUPER SCIENCE CORP by Hot Box Games 2015-12-19T21:47:00

Had a bit of issues just trying to get it ran (java issues) was able to work it out. a bit of fun but could use a graphics overhaul

Missing quite/exit button on death screen

Growing Up by gelisam 2015-12-21T02:06:00

Good mood and graphics, took me a sec to realize you can wrap the screen. Why haskell? it seems like a nightmare for a game jam.

Fight Back! by ChaosCult 2015-12-15T21:34:00

2 buttons but three controls (D + F + mouse).

Planet Grower by lanza 2015-12-13T23:39:00

scored 10 size and 20 ships downed
good fun little game, controls seem inverted to me but there is a guy running on the planet so maybe that is why. Aiming seems to be impossible and feels like I dont have control. Lots of shots seem to just smash back into the planet so that sucks.

Why is index.php a PHP file when it doesn't use any php code? (Might have stripped it out before giving source) its fine just weird to see.

Sheldon by narve 2015-12-18T02:16:00

8-bit music is good but the graphics downgrade each level

Button Simulator 2000 by wilsk 2015-12-13T22:45:00

game doesn't fit in iframe correctly play in full screen to see the terminal screen. (Not your fault)

Button Simulator 2000 by wilsk 2015-12-13T22:47:00

Text is under button, it can get confusing if you think description text is above the button.

Button Simulator 2000 by wilsk 2015-12-13T22:49:00

Toggles are enabled when in down position. That is inverse of what I thought it would be.

Button Simulator 2000 by wilsk 2015-12-13T22:54:00

Just found the help button now I know what to do

FLOW by Romixal 2015-12-15T15:23:00

Uses multiple buttons(menu) and I don't see a tie in with the theme "growing". Not following the theme is fine and stated in the rules but I am unable to award you any theme points in my rating.

Survive the Moco by Geck0 2015-12-22T03:43:00

21 seconds 0 kills

I do not know if it is just me but my player doesn't track mouse 1 to 1 then is a bit of a jerk movement like it is snapping to mouse cursor every .5 seconds. That issue is making shooting near impossible and a guaranteed death sentence even when 1 on 1. I can spin in circles flawlessly but shooting or moving ruins the tracking.

The difficulty is fun and I wont score based on the issue above for I believe it is just me. Great entry!

Sprouting Magic by Dakutau 2015-12-15T15:32:00

Nice good little game.

*If you want a high-score don't get the water droplets just be patient and slow
*Why press space to play? you were so close to both themes!

Looks like a good LAN game, nice upbeat music too!

Super Wall Jump by Peekotus 2015-12-16T00:48:00

Difficult but fun, good graphics. Excellent first ludum dare!

Attack Of The Radioactive Octopus From A Planet Near Mars by donvermo 2015-12-13T22:33:00

*Attack.exe flips out chrome and av security like crazy. Very bad file-name to pick
*when a tentacle dies it needs to make a sound to let the player know that was a bad thing to do
*high score screen was broken for me, unable to click anything but could type text (had to alt-f4 out). I tried again but samething happened

Fun game! it reminds me of Death Worm Game (that is a good thing)

HUNGRY BEAST by bazz_boyy 2015-12-13T22:39:00

*can partially clip into walls(nit pick but you can get pretty far into it)
*button and where you press the button were misaligned.
*cann't use keyboard on menu screen

Sumo Master : The way of the sushi by KanedaXIII 2015-12-22T03:13:00

The crowd blew me away much better then games even in ps2 era. Two buttons, and two game modes (eating and fighting) totally blew me away. Excellent use of two button theme. The music is freaking awesome too! By far the best production game I have seen so far!

Match It by Tackwin 2015-12-17T20:56:00

Good little game, reminds me of the bomb mini game on mario 64 DS

Outgrow by groverburger 2015-12-18T01:58:00

Neat little game, I will try to find someone to play it with.

Star Wars Spaceflight by RetroKids 2015-12-13T23:22:00

Couldn't figure out how to start game until I read description. Was able to score 397 points hiding in the top corner and not moving.

The Climbers by NirabazGAMES 2015-12-22T03:18:00

was a blast to play and makes me wish I had someone to play with! Great theme tie in with two buttons. Humor and mood pleased me well.

Grammar Nazi: "relise buttons to fall." should be "release button to fall"

Human Invasion by zamotany 2015-12-17T20:42:00

Programer art is always fine :), the addition of a level maker makes this awesome!

LycanQuest by mactinite 2016-04-20T14:39:00

Loved the damage animation of screen! You get the ability to shape shift into dogie right before platforming section :(

Shapes Outdoor by leffe108 2016-04-20T18:10:00

text-to-speech was a great idea! but music was a bit rough.

Color Raid by Atmog 2016-04-29T16:55:00

A game in 8 hours is no joke, the controls at first was insane until I changed them. I should have read that first. Good work!

ShapaSort Recycling by Yrasin 2016-05-02T17:04:00

Best game I have seen so far!

Dice Delve by lanestp 2016-04-20T14:30:00

Nice little fun game. Slight glitch when the player and enemy can move into the same square the numbers overlap on that tile.

Hunter & Fox by lumscum 2016-04-29T17:04:00

Got "stuck" on the first screen waiting for enemies to come not knowing I had to leave the screen. Fun but enemies can move between screens and can be a pain to kill them, because you jump from screen to screen while they can move fluidly

*Played 1.14 version

Two rooms makes it very claustrophobic and no discovery.

Phat Fishes by tentacode 2016-04-20T20:29:00

*Played single player.
Good fun and would have wished to see it in the compo but things happen. Good work man!

"PHAT FISHES IS AN ANAGRAM FOR SHAPESHIFT!!!" I missed that! adding another star for it.

Parallel Shift by firedragon2225 2016-05-03T02:16:00

FUN!, The large face is a bit big and the next pickup isn't spaced very far so sometimes ill have to re-run the line and make sure I stop once I get the power up. If I continue even slightly it picks up the small face.

Welcome to your first Ludum Dare. Your timelapse was fun to watch!

Pup8Bit by Zealous Coder 2016-04-29T18:46:00

No executable, would have to build source to run it (not going to).

PolygonInvasion by Xesin 2016-04-20T18:25:00

Score: 10,120

Triangle was much easier than square and didn't have much reason to switch. Audio was draining without music and repetitive shoot sounds. With all that said I liked it. It enc-operated shape shifting into the game and had bullet hell elements without being to crazy.

Shifty Shapes of Grey by goibon 2016-04-20T21:20:00

Score: 280
Fun game, star for the win! Didn't like the sound effects :/

Space Morphers by OWi Games 2016-04-20T14:34:00

I was able to change shape once but then never again :( even after reset (Windows)

Mutant Squares by Notaveerus 2016-04-29T18:56:00

Bullets come out of enemies at weird location adjacent to body. It would be nice if player shape would have forward direction indicator

Tetrikado by mightymarcus 2016-04-20T18:16:00

Great! I only played it one player but it is entertaining. At first I thought it was ugly but when I realized there was physics it won me over. Great little game, I love the safety ledge and keeps it different from Jenga. Good work!

Only bug I saw was sometimes pieces would wobble for a long time and not advance the game until it was done. (Just read the other comments and it has been addressed)
