LD23 — Tiny World

Tiny's World by Topaz 2012-04-26T08:02:00

I'd advise you to find a way to conjure an EXE out of it - You really don't want your players to need to jump through hoops.

Around the World in 80 Seconds (or less) by gormio 2012-05-02T19:10:00

As mentioned, what you have is awesome. It's unfortunate you're missing the obvious part of GamePlay, but you've got something to build upon.

Don't Leave our Home! by EdiiKnorand 2012-04-23T12:00:00

Is it at all possible to make a Windows release? I'm afraid many people won't play it otherwise :(

SS Tiny World by JesterBLUE 2012-04-23T12:02:00

Consider converting the game to an EXE: http://viralpatel.net/blogs/2009/02/convert-jar-to-exe-executable-jar-file-to-exe-converting.html Also, check mine: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=5952 :)

SS Tiny World by JesterBLUE 2012-04-23T12:05:00

Also getting an error:
Could not find the main class: TinyWorldLD23.TinyWorldLD23. Program will exit.
That's with the newest Java Runtime Environment.

Inlander by Darkwater 2012-04-23T13:04:00

It would probably have been better if you'd just put a zip or rar there instead of a self-expanding exe. Check mine as well: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=5952

Inlander by Darkwater 2012-04-23T13:07:00

argh, can't run it on my work computer; I'll check it once i'm home!

When Worlds Collide by AlwaysGeeky 2012-05-08T17:23:00

I like that it's fun. I dislike that the actual gameplay is too limited. There's too little control, too much a clickfest. However, I do think that the technology, with a bit more thought, has a lot of potential and could become the ultimate planet smasher [tm]

Microscopia by azurenimbus 2012-05-08T17:16:00

Finally found you. Is your twitter suspended?! Anyway, I've rated you high on most, but I must say I didn't find your game much fun. You succeeded in what you intend to do; perhaps a little too much ;)

Leptogenesis by QAZWSX 2012-04-26T09:19:00

I think you've built your game in DEBUG mode; when releasing to a public I'd advise to do it in RELEASE. Also, the PDB file is only useful for Visual Studio, and deleting it will not affect your game. Hit me up on Twitter if you'd like more advise on these matters :)

Face The Truth by Evgiz 2012-04-23T12:15:00

Pretty funny and well working game, though not very innovative, in my opinion.

$ales by Sanguine 2012-04-23T12:09:00

The goal of the game is somewhat vague at best. I haven't rated the audio cause this computer doesn't have any audio.

I actually think it's a good idea, I like trading simulations, but it needs more polishing to be really fun.

Gravity Sucks [WEB] by Nocturne 2012-04-23T12:26:00

I liked the base mechanic, even though a single touch death is somewhat frustrating :P I missed a clear(er) visual on where the gravity started sucking to time my jumps better, but that's up to personal preference I guess.

Predominantly Tiny World by Graham Weldon 2012-04-23T12:19:00

I found it quite hard to tell the distance from me to the saucer, making it almost impossible to kill it. I also feel that I had a little bug, cause I could move much faster while jumping than just walking, as if i was weighed down by the planet.

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-23T08:44:00

Challenge! But it's a good advice for post-compo publishing ;)

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-23T09:48:00

Thanks :)

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-23T13:09:00

I'm contemplating releasing this on IOS for free, but it'll need some work (on-screen buttons being the most pressing issue) and I'm not sure how long Apple'll need to check it.

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-23T14:27:00

Ups, I should make that a little less strict indeed, sorry I screwed up your game a bit ^_^'

Yeah, I had more questions for the classes/HUD, so I'm going to flesh that out a bit better.

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-24T22:21:00

Just be glad i didn't include crashing on planets or you'd really have a run for your money XD

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-25T13:42:00

Thanks XD Should I add a "Warning, that's the sun you're heading for!" Warning? ;)

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-26T08:56:00

@Topaz I had that a few times, usually by meticular turning (and using an unnessicary amount of fuel) you can still get out.
@R3ason My greatest weakness! Yes, there is a bug on the far left of each planet, I'm very sorry!

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-26T12:38:00

Thanks, and yes, I fully agree that the sounds are horrible.

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-26T17:44:00

Thanks and well, it was my first LD48 so next time I really need to spend more time on the details!

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-27T17:33:00

I was a bit afraid I would run out of time, so I didn't do any DNA, I just made 1 tree type which looked about right. So including some different kinds of trees and having them cross-bred would help.

In addition, Trees from a planet shouldn't improve that same planet's class, so that you need different trees from different planets to improve the class (Akin to the space age in Spore(tm))

In the end, I had time left, so I could've made a bit more improvements, but it'll be for the next #LD48 - I can always hide behind the fact that this was, actually, my first :)

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-28T10:41:00

There is this in the tutorial:
"Be careful for the yellow dash. The Sun will kill you!"

As I mentioned in my reaction to caranha, I full well agree with your observation about the planets; trees should be more unique and different trees should have different changes.

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-05-02T07:13:00

Thanks, and yes, myou should see my future work ideas XD

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-05-02T19:11:00

Thanks, as for the stuck while trying to lift off thing - it happens sometimes, it's sometimes possible by steering to get out of it but it's something I will re-evaluate for a post-compo polish.

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-05-08T08:07:00

Yeah, changing the markers is a high thing for post-compo polishing. As soon as I find the time to do it -_-'

It's a tab by brackcurly 2012-04-23T11:58:00

Very innovative, even though I was confused for a minute there. I didn't rate the audio because I'm playing on a work machine without audio :)

Junior's Car by Khayet 2012-05-02T19:22:00

It's pretty basic, but for a first 48hr attempt it's pretty good, keep it up and in a few years you'll be programming with the pro's ;)

LD24 — Evolution

The Unbeatable Blob by Gemberkoekje 2012-08-27T11:19:00

Ahaha, I'm very self-critical. You are meant to gobble up the smaller, green-ish astroids to grow, which allow you to gobble up increasingly bigger astroids. In the end you get so big that your whole computer will go on tilt.

The Unbeatable Blob by Gemberkoekje 2012-08-29T07:26:00

I should at least add some hazards. I was thinking about spikes which actually make you smaller when you smack into them.

LD25 — You are the Villain

My Little World Domination Simulator by Ace 2012-12-17T16:01:00

I liked the idea, I liked the graphics, good and simple which works for these kinds of games, but I wasn't sure what you're supposed to do

- Could use a bit more variety
- Needs a bit of a tutorial, it was a bit confusing what to do in the beginning.
- I'm not sure how you could lose. I understand your basis is Evil Genius, which I adore, but I must say that the original is better ;)

So yeah, do keep it up; I think it has potential but isn't just there yet. For the record, I'm a whiner, mine isn't any better :P

Bad Puppy by csanyk 2012-12-17T15:55:00

I think you should've been able to sh*t on the carpet.

- You should've added in the game itself to press Z to bark, first time I was confused as what to do.
- Some alternative actions ;) would've been nice.
- It's a bit too simple in my opinion, but I see what you're trying to do :P
- Quitting and restarting aren't obvious.

Invasion! by xgeovanni 2012-12-17T10:33:00

I think this game has potential, but isn't just there yet.

- It's not quite clear how much the upgrades cost, you could've added it to the HUD.
- In my opinion, the enemies move too fast.
- The graphics, well, they need work :) Consider downloading GIMP and practice on pixel art ;)

Keep up the good work; I think with a bit more info and a bit better graphics this could be really fun.

A Chistmas Rebel by DDDBOMBER 2012-12-17T08:24:00

A fun game. I did find the jumping to be a bit overdoing it, and shooting stuff on ledges is a bit hard.

- Graphics are good
- Game type is a tad overdone, but at least this one is done well ;)
- Weapon types are good
- I found it somewhat confusing that each time I picked up a package my gun changed.

Dastardly Diver by Spierek 2012-12-17T09:51:00

Same problem with the MSVCR110.dll; This is my work computer so I can't install it at the moment either. I'll play it at home though~!

End Boss by Ditto 2012-12-17T08:54:00

Unfortunately this crashed on my work computer; right at the beginning ~ I'll put this on a list to try at home~!

Villainous by JPatrick 2012-12-17T08:16:00

You should make some effort making it easy to start it, I had to make a batch file with my Java installation to start it.

Anyway, having played your game once:
- I liked the particle-numbers to show damage and money
- I didn't like that I couldn't see whether I was attacking if I wasn't hitting anything; some kind of effect or a sticking sword would've been nice.
- Your bow seemed to be bugged - I appearantly shot myself to death.
- Your graphics are adequate, nothing special but they serve their perpose.

I definetly see potential in the concept, but I think a bit more polish would be in order. Keep going!

Kidnap by Bzaraticus 2012-12-17T14:06:00

Don't use a windows icon as your game icon, that's confusing :P

- I think the gameplay is pretty original, though it's quite hard right now, and somewhat confusing until you figure it out.
- Could use a little tutorial or something
- Could use a bit more variation, or at least some alternating AI or something.
- Graphics are functional, but nothing special.

Kidnap by Bzaraticus 2012-12-17T15:27:00

Wasn't it a windows-style ini-file icon? Maybe my windows screwed up icons.

Missile Rider by rylgh 2012-12-20T12:28:00

Hm, can't install unity on my home comp. I'll try it at home though~!

Demons in Dungeons by blay09 2012-12-17T09:00:00

This game is either too hard, or not well enough explained. I really like how I can put down stuff, but when I can't put down any stuff and I have these merry men who..err..die.. and uh...
Anyway, it's kinda confusing.

- It could've used a tutorial, with all dem features. (Beyond the help screen, which was only minorly informatic)
- I really like how you added many features, but like I said, it's confusing.
- The enemies maybe were going a bit fast, but then again, I might be getting old.
- It needs more feedback. Why can't I put something somewhere? What does it do in the first place? Stuff like that.

Those Pesky Rogues by CoffeeOnimal 2012-12-17T09:07:00

This game is somewhat confusing. Also, the help text in the beginning disappears WAY too fast.

- I like the basic idea of spawning minions.
- I think you could've done better on how the level looks, as you did do the UI elements pretty well.
- Could use a bit more help on what exactly you're doing, and a spawn bar between when you've clicked and when the skeleton appears.
- Some different minions would've been nice.

Oh, for the record, I'm just a whiner, my game wasn't all that much better :P I do see potential, I hope you can improve it and make it more fun, because I do like the idea.

Evil Keeper by XmmmX 2012-12-17T14:13:00

Putting this one on a list to play at home.

Kim Jong-un's Glorious Missile to Liberate the Nations DX by dremelofdeath 2012-12-18T09:29:00

This was a pretty fun game, a simple concept done well.

- Graphics are good
- Game was challenging, but never unfairly so. Well balanced!
- The only thing which was rather confusing was the level endings. I was expecting a big boom, instead i got another level. Couldn't you have made the level switches a little more organic?

I say it again, well done.

Runner of a viod by Badrpas 2012-12-20T12:38:00

Can't get it to run either, unfortunately.

Runner of a viod by Badrpas 2012-12-20T12:40:00

The Villain - Christmas will not be by Remblej 2012-12-17T09:40:00

A bit of a simple game, quite short, but not all that bad.

- I really liked how you could pocket your bow to run faster. Nice touch!
- I expected the arrows to curve somehow. I understand how they don't, but it would've been nice.
- It was quite easy, I just kept sticking santa with arrows and he died before I did.
- Some other reaction, except for the bar getting less, would've been nice when hitting or being hit.

Consider making it longer and more varied, perhaps with more weapons.

Red Revenge by Skyshifter 2012-12-17T09:15:00

I found it a bit unfortunate that the graphics were somehow shocky and the rockets in some rotations weren't very pretty.

- I found it confusing which weapon I was actually shooting with. An overlay text "Plasma Rifle" or something would've been nice.
- I really liked the nice explanation screens, I've been missing those with some other games.
- Those missiles are just mean, luckily you can shoot them.
- I'm not a fan of these kind of games, but I can't blaim you for that :P

I think you should keep going, this game has potential (for people other than me who actually like these kinds of games :P) I think it mostly needs just that bit more spit'n'polish.

Sunday by Cy4n1d 2012-12-17T10:27:00

I see potential, it's indeed unfortunate you had so little time.

I really like the art.

It's too bad there's a complete lack of variety, which I understand, but it's still unfortunate.

Speedrun by jmk 2012-12-17T10:24:00

I liked this. It's quite simple, but well executed. I liked how getting damaged decreased your acceleration, which eventually destroys you.

- You really should've added a bit of info in-game; at least that you should use space. I had to go back to this page to find out how to start.
- I'm also fan of a menu; at least to make sure the game doesn't start right away.

Other than that a fine first attempt.

Obliterate the City by Clavus 2012-12-17T13:48:00

This was pretty enjoyable, though it does gets a bit annoying at some point.

- I like the idea that you're randomly spawning other bombs
- I like destroying stuff. You've done well on the DestroyingStuff category. heh.
- At around level 10, it just gets too hard. You click like mad, at random positions, and it sometimes just works but most of the times just not.
- A bit more tactics would've been nice, instead of mad clicking
- I wasn't entirely sure where my missiles would end up each time.

Show Me The Money by Faust 2012-12-17T10:39:00

Nice game.

- Could use a bit more feedback: Let the player know what's happening.
- Graphics could use some work. Consider downloading GIMP and practice your pixel art ;)

Other than that, pretty original, pretty fun, so I can't think of anything else to whine about.

Show Me The Money by Faust 2012-12-17T11:15:00

@Faust I don't have much talent either, but it's good to practice :)

Devon by 100GPing100 2012-12-17T13:55:00

Does seem quite buggy, unfortunately.

- I died before I really knew what was going on.
- When restarting, I ended up on the same place as I was, but then much higher, and I fell for like 10 seconds.
- When restarting again, it didn't restart at all...
- I think the speed was too high, it was too difficult to see what was going on rly. But I don't like fast-paced platformgames to begin with so maybe personal taste.
- You should consider practicing on your pixel art. Don't get me wrong, mine looks rubbish also, but it may be good to work on it :)

UREVIL ENDLESS TD! by Saisaith 2012-12-17T08:52:00

Mmm, tower defences. Not the most original of games, but pretty well executed and pretty fun.

- This game could've done well with a bit of a menu, or at least a pause button... The first wave was counting down before I realized it.
- The enemies have no variation, that's a bit of a shame.
- The towers also have no variation, that's also a bit of a shame, especially in a tower defence.
- The upgradebutton is red, which makes it seem as if you don't have enough money to upgrade. Somewhat confusing.
- I like the rain, and I like the fire and damage effects.

So anyway, I'm a whiner. I think it's a pretty nice game, and I think you should keep working on it to make it more varied. Good luck ;)

CORRUPTIONEXE by Xgor 2012-12-17T08:44:00

What's this I don't.... eh...

Very original idea; even though it lacked a bit... I dunno, gameplay, i guess. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for an interactive story, just saying that this was, in my opinion, an interactive story.

Anyway.

- Original.
- Fun, but a bit short and no replay value.
- Graphics are stylish, and a nice touch with all the corruption.

Alphanauts by dom2d 2012-12-18T09:24:00

This game is quite fun; very well done.
- I really liked the graphics
- It indeed started a little slow, a tad faster progression would've been nice.
- The only thing I would've done differently is to use keys which are close or next to each other, e.g. Q,W,E,R,T,Y. But then you'd need to detect which kind of keyboard the person is using..

So yeah, well done :P

Elevator Evil by 8bitDamage 2012-12-17T09:42:00

I can't run XNA things on my work computer, so this one goes on my ToDo Tonight list.

This does, however, sound like the most original idea I've seen up till now, I'd love to see the execution :)

Carnage by SXPanda 2012-12-17T10:19:00

I liked this game. The graphics are crisp, and it's quite fun. I did see my arm going to the heavens sometimes, I think there's a small bug with the hammer animation.

If anything, it could use a bit more variation. other then that, I don't have much to whine, well done!

Neutral Balance by koller-digital 2012-12-17T08:39:00

I found this game pretty hard, in addition to that it took a bit for me to understand it.

- Graphics are pretty good, though I guess you could've added some variety.
- I'd have liked a menu and/or a tutorial, especially as your concept is quite unique it could've used some explanation.
- I think it would've been better if one of the sides was AI-controlled, or by another player, but I'm not fan of the equilibrium.

Liar's Lair by madmaw 2012-12-17T09:55:00

Hmm, I seem to be missing a DLL, what's this Friends thing you are talking about?

I daren't rate this as I haven't played it yet, but I'll keep this in mind if I ever find these so-called 'friends'

Liar's Lair by madmaw 2012-12-17T09:57:00

I've had a look at the rules, and it doesn't state specifically that the game should be a computer game, so I see no reason why this shouldn't be a legal entry.

Kim Jong Un's Ultimate Childhood Game by Gemberkoekje 2012-12-17T09:34:00

Well, how do you think Kim Jong Un felt? You're right though, it's not particularly balanced. I've never done physics engines before, so half the battle was having proper physics worked out.

Kim Jong Un's Ultimate Childhood Game by Gemberkoekje 2012-12-17T11:14:00

You're right, actually. I was going for the 'Just try it and it works' thing, but showing the blocks and panning would've been better indeed.

Kim Jong Un's Ultimate Childhood Game by Gemberkoekje 2012-12-18T07:55:00

Should've done further or more spread out levels rly, make the editor scrollable so you can get close buildings and buildings far away. Another thing I wanted to do is a boulder instead of the missile, so you can just barrel through the building instead of sploding it.

Kim Jong Un's Ultimate Childhood Game by Gemberkoekje 2012-12-21T09:01:00

At least my game was better than The War Z. But I think every game made in a weekend at Ludum Dare falls in that category.

Kim Jong Un's Ultimate Childhood Game by Gemberkoekje 2013-01-04T11:24:00

Hah, thank you. I like experimenting best anyway, and perhaps I'll hit gold eventually ;)

Anta Gogen by Vic 2012-12-17T09:49:00

Quite nice indeed, pretty well executed 3D game, quite pretty, quite challenging.

- I'm a fan of a main menu. Just saying :P
- The gameplay is good, though it would've been nice to have an advanced warning that those guns shoot your zombies at a certain range.
- Perhaps showing health of zombies in some way would be nice.

I really don't have much to whine about this game, it's well executed. Very nice~!

Holly Jolly Pyromaniac by UndergroundPixel 2012-12-23T17:58:00

I personally didn't like the gameplay, but that's just me. Graphics are great, sound is good if somewhat repetetive, the only thing I find notable is that I clicked the 'windows' link and ended up with a webgame. But yeah.

Waldo by h.attila 2012-12-17T09:16:00

Hum, XNA games don't seem to work on my work computer. I'm gonna try this one out at home tonight~!

Princess Keeper by lorancou 2012-12-17T14:12:00

I actually quite liked this game, though it does seem somewhat buggy as I ended up with a white screen which does nothing.

- Nice game idea, not completely original but quite original within the theme.
- Pretty good execution
- Quite varied, at least compared to some of the others I've played.
- The only thing I liked less was the artstyle/quality, you should practice on this :P

(I've ignored the graphics for my overall score, cause I really did like this entry) ;) Keep it up~!

BREAK! by LucaPavone 2012-12-17T09:59:00

I seem to need to login to my google docs to download this, that's a bit of an unneccesary hurdle.

BREAK! by LucaPavone 2012-12-17T10:03:00

This is quite pretty, well executed and well explained.

- The first time you need to duck, it's a bit confusing that you should, indeed, duck.
- I like the graphics style, and the gameplay. Well done.

Another game I don't really have much to whine about, well done ;)

@EdoMiyamoto Well, the level is so random, sometime you spawn inside a pillar, barrel or other random element. A bug I never solved, unfortunately :'(

@Bernhard thank you; I just expect better of myself :P But I really appreciate your kind words :)

Minimalism shooter by Gemberkoekje 2013-05-06T08:01:00

@Dietrich you can un-grab the mouse by right-mouse-clicking or pressing ESC in the game. I agree that it should auto-ungrab when you alt-tab, another bug I never solved.

@Pinkerator I wanted to do some lighting, it didn't work, so i tried to make the walls... obvious. It worked, in general, but it's not good for epileptics ^_^'

Minimalism shooter by Gemberkoekje 2013-05-08T07:36:00

@gecko The problem was that I wasn't able to use the 48 hours as well as I'd liked to; not as much the engine. Also, my goal was procedural generation, which doesn't get any easier with higher level engines, as they often have these kinds of tricks abstracted away behind layers of 'ease'.

LD28 — You Only Get One

Snowball Carnage by Moist 2013-12-16T08:36:00

Fun game, also the first game which really did something smart with the theme :)

the Pit by MRvanderPants 2013-12-16T08:26:00

I must say I dislike space to restart. First time I tried to jump... I restarted. Also loading seems to take quite long. I did like the graphics though, perhaps you should consider making a post-compo version with some bugfixes :)

Pixelfall by redhotvengeance 2013-12-16T08:38:00

I couldn't seem to get it to run, it was just stuck on "Sigh" with the name thing (Even when I did fill in a name)

Pixelfall by redhotvengeance 2013-12-16T08:39:00

After restart, filled in a name immediately, GO didn't do anything... :(

Refuge by chardish 2013-12-16T08:45:00

As I'm at work I unfortunately had to cut my adventure short for now, I'll try it again at home. But what I've seen so far is amazing for a 48 hour game, very well done.

You Only Get One Button by Gemberkoekje 2013-12-16T14:03:00

@kyyrma you can press The Button to try again.

You Only Get One Button by Gemberkoekje 2013-12-16T18:59:00

@occash I wanted to pull the one button idea through to the menus and everything, so then it'd made more sense (and be funny and annoying!) You'll see when I get time for the post-compo version!

You Only Get One Button by Gemberkoekje 2013-12-20T14:19:00

Thanks for the nice compliments all, I'll try to find the time to flesh this out a bit more, make it look better, and chuck it on Android store or something!

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Center of the Sun by Cyros 2014-12-08T19:23:00

Nice game, good feedback on when you do wrong and when you do right. A few little tips and things: There seemed to be a bug in my game where, 10 seconds before the timer ended, the game actually 'ended' - as in that the sounds for end-game sounded and the last 10 seconds, while I could technically play, no 'enemies' came anymore.
Secondly, I had a score of 48, which, while I thought it'd be quite reasonable, didn't even get into the highscore table.

The Mosquito Effect (mosquito simulator) by 01rafael 2014-12-11T17:04:00

Reasonable game, I found it a bit confusing what I was doing, and why I was doing it, a mosquito killing humans by touching them... The graphics were good, the screams were... unpleasant. Maybe I missed something, so it could use a bit more guidance or tutorial.
Finally, i was unable to exit any other way than using Alt-F4, so please add that when pressing Escape the game quits or at least goes to a menu or something!

Kill The Snowmen by elektricmaster7 2014-12-11T16:13:00

That was... quite hectic. Not a bad game, though a bit too hard for my tastes.
I feel you could've done a bit more with the theme.
Graphics were good, audio was ok, nothing memorable but it did the job.
Not really my type of game, but not a bad effort all in all!

The Murderdome by RyanNielson 2014-12-11T18:20:00

It unfortunately seemed a bit glitchy, with me being thrown back into the main menu every now and then. This was with the Web version.

Graphics were good and the gameplay was simplistic but effective, nice feedback on hitting and being hit. I felt it being a bit too fast-paced, but that might be me.

SideLands by MoltenMustafa 2014-12-08T18:50:00

I really like this game. The graphics are good, and while the game could do with a bit of a tutorial, or at least a bit further explanation, I found it quite fun to roam around with this weird... octopus dude? i think?

Very cool, keep it up! :)

Scan Lines by KilledByAPixel 2014-12-11T16:39:00

Bloody hell this game is hard. I also didn't like that it's a bit about premonition: You need to know in advance what's gonna happen, cause if you respond, you'll be too late. That said, I found it really innovative, nice concept, decent graphics.
For me, you could've made it a little easier and a little slower paced, but other than that, nice effort and very unique~!
(Check my entry too! it also has scanlines! :P)

Pink Morning (a waterdrop's journey) by jhice 2014-12-11T16:54:00

Hi m8, please help me fix the arrow issue you had on my game by downloading the debug version and sending me the log, thanks!

Now on to your game!

Nice idea, good and simple game, though i felt the 'you' looked a bit similar to the other drops, which was quite confusing. I also felt it could use a little more feedback, maybe a bit of a warning when you get too small?

Graphics looked simple but good, audio felt a bit boring, but the mood was good!

Flying Blind by Rahazan 2014-12-11T16:44:00

Cool concept! I only found that, in the feedback department, you could've added a little marker or something if you at least lined up a plane or helicopter correctly. Right now you can let the plane land and after that do more rounds, it's a bit confusing.

I'm a bit dualsided on the innovation scoring, cause on one hand, the game is quite.. done already, but on the other hand, you have this unique screen feature, so yeah.

Graphics were good, audio was ok, so yeah, nice effort!
(My game shares some concepts with yours, feel free to check it out :P)

Death in front by mahham 2014-12-11T16:06:00

Nice try, I like the idea, I like the light, but yeah, the rest wasn't great. Still, let's see how you can make things a bit better.

Firstly, add some better feedback. A slight bump back if you hit a zombie would be good enough, at least you know you've hit then. I know the sound is also feedback, but it's less obvious.
Secondly, work on the graphics, and usually, especially for programmers, less is more. So maybe, instead of weird-looking grass, just use a solid darker green. It gets the point across, but it just looks better. Using more abstract art, especially for programmers, usually works well.
Don't worry too much about the sound, hell, you had more sound than my entry!

So yeah, keep going, keep trying, try to get a bit of a feel for what looks a bit better, and you'll be golden!

Carrot Chaos by GoudaGames 2014-12-11T16:10:00

Not a bad effort, I feel like you could've given a bit more feedback on hitting things, if only a bit slower speed or something. It was pretty hard, and not really obvious how you get the scarfs (i guess they were rare drops?)
Graphics looked good, the game was a pretty fun arcade entry.
You could've done a bit more with the theme, but other than that, good effort!

Music by Wakka 2014-12-11T16:49:00

This.. I loathe to call it 'game', cause it's really more of a tool,

IS AWESOME.
As soon as you understand what's going on, and see that you can drag and drop the items.
A bit of a tutorial or tooltip would be nice, but other than that, great effort. Even if it isn't really a game ;)

hot & cold by Wir 2014-12-11T16:57:00

Cool little menu, launching the Local Multiplayer mode took.. quite a while, might I say too long? hm, it seems a bit stuck on launching. Using windows 8.1, I just updated Java earlier today so it can't be that... Not rating yet, is there something I'm doing wrong?

Don't hit the Bad Guy ! by billos 2014-12-11T17:16:00

What's this I don't even...

At least you tried to do something nice with the theme, so kudos for that, the game was really simple but at least you made an entry, and with that, you can only improve! So keep at it, and before you know it you'll have a Ludum Dare Winner! :P

Cycle by vicious_br 2014-12-11T16:20:00

Oy, don't make me addicted to your game, i have more games to rate!
This really got me into the "Just one more level" mood. It also became quite hard as I ran out of bullets.
The only thing I can't rate you well on is the theme, cuz I have no idea how this'd fit in it at all, but other than that, great effort, keep it up, make more fun 'just one more level' games!

LD31_EGoOS by nofxboy1234 2014-12-08T20:30:00

Hah, nice first try. As commented before, it could use a bit more polish, but it's good to start with something simple. It's also good you stuck to the end, made a game which, albeit simple, works and is finishable.

Some ideas for the next ludum dare: Add a tutorial, or at least some form of text, to let the player know that you can use x to jump. I figured it out, so it's not a big problem, but little things like that really help the player experience.
Other than that, keep going. Keep making finished games, no matter how simple, and soon you'll have, well, maybe not a winner, but a good, polished and fun game.
And an extra star in humor for the magical ham ;)

Straight Fighter by felix3456 2014-12-11T18:24:00

It felt a bit small, the graphics were nice, i think it could use a bit more of a tutorial, as well as ideally an AI to fight against :P But I can imagine that not being viable, especially in a first entry. Still a nice concept.

Zoom by ChezPain 2014-12-08T19:35:00

Sometimes, when zoomed out, you couldn't read the text, so I didn't read a bit of the story.
Also, it was often a bit hard to determine why I was dying, a bit more feedback would've been nice.
And finally, necessary isn't spelled 'nessesary' ;) But I'll forgive you that one!

snowmen ate my rifle by whizzter 2014-12-08T20:18:00

First time I saw the entry, I thought the title was "Snowman ate my whizzer" - which would be a different game entirely.
I'm really impressed what you did in 4 hours, the gameplay is simple but effective, and the icy ground gave a nice touch later on. It could benefit from a bit of a tutorial, or at least a warning "Don't slide on the ice!" at the beginning.
Other than that, nice little game!

Get the fick out by elkiwydev 2014-12-08T20:21:00

I'm probably not drunk often enough to really get this game. It suffers from a few little bugs, and I found the 'action' a little too small, I think there were better ways to cope with the theme.

I can totally see how this game could be fun, and the graphical effects are hilarious, but I guess it's just not for me!

Ocean Crossing by andysolace 2014-12-11T16:28:00

Hi, please help me debug my game by downloading the 'debug' version I just uploaded and sending me the logfile, I'd love to know what's going on with people who can't move!

Onto your game! It crashed immediately. Let me upgrade my Java and see whether that fixes things...

No, i do not want Ask.Com, thank you Java...

Removing out-of-date versions.. yes, I'm pretty sure that's the problem.

Now it works!

Hm, help doesn't seem to do anything. Also, it's a bit hard to find out what you're supposed to do, other than randomly doing stuff, but maybe I'm just impatient, or maybe I just don't get it.

All in all, not a terrible effort, but does need a bit more... guidance i think.

Synthetic Nano-Organic Web-Manipulating Agent Network by ZNCatlaw 2014-12-11T17:11:00

This was... too complicated for me. I had no idea what I was doing, or how this game should be played. It looked good, and it seemed functional, but a bit more guidance or at least a bit less hectic start with a bit of a tutorial would've been nice. Also, the sounds seemed a bit loud, but that might've been me.

Crime Prevention by CrefossusJam 2014-12-11T16:34:00

I didn't really like it. It was too easy yet quite confusing, too short, the graphics weren't anything special, and I felt you could've done more with the theme.

I think the idea of playing with Security Cams has potential, and I've once thought about a game using security cams, but this isn't it just yet ;) Still, I hope this can inspire you to make a more interesting and inspired game ;)

SheeBall by dieblume86 2014-12-11T18:18:00

Nice little game, not very innovative but nice graphics, good mood and humor, and pretty fun to boot.

I can't really think of anything particularly bad to say, it's a solid effort!

Zroom by c2v4 2014-12-08T19:42:00

Don't bloody tell me to be patient! Insufferable game!

Seriously though, Nice game, although I really didn't like how the character moved. I know it's by design, so maybe it's just me, but I didn't like it :P
Other than that, I can't really add to the comments already committed. Well done!

The Snowman and the Cannons by thecord 2014-12-08T18:55:00

I like the amount of detail that went into the models and the snow.
Unfortunately, I don't like the rest as much, and as I approached 60 snowballs, I started to wonder "Why am I doing this?"
(don't worry by the way, my game probably has less gameplay than yours do ;))
So next time, maybe try to focus a little less on the graphics, and a little more on how to make the game fun :)

Encadenado by Deal With It 2014-12-08T19:29:00

I liked the artstyle, a bit of humor was good to see too. The only thing I found a bit less is the game itself. I'm all for a simple concept, but I found this a little.. lacking innovation. Other than that, nice graphics, nice mood, well done!

GameJam Tychoon by davesoft 2014-12-11T16:00:00

Hey man, could you please help me debug the problem you had with my game? I've added a DEBUG version which will add a bit of logging to the keys, so please play it for a bit, do whatever you did before, and please send me the log! Thanks in advance!

As for your game, while I'm here, and as soon as I've said to my virusscanner that this really ISN'T a virus.. ;)
Well, I won, first place, with a game which had 4 in fun, and minusses in most other things... I wish it were that easy in real life! It was a bit confusing, so a bit of a tutorial would've been nice, but not a bad effort overall! Also the audio made me a bit jumpy.

Train Time by Pietdagamer 2014-12-08T18:46:00

Unfortunately, I found it not quite fun, and somewhat buggy. I have one of them switches, but for some reason, the train just goes straight.
Also, I personally dislike the fact that you added a setup, I don't think it was necessary and it ends up taking longer before I can play.
I do see potential, so I hope you keep trying, but it just isn't it yet for me.
Finally, as a quick little hint: keep the 'press h to show help' on screen so I don't forget what button to press if I need help.

Electric Jezebel by OttersDen 2014-12-11T16:31:00

Nice game. I like how the main character looks, it looks like a real game character! Other than that I found it a bit too hard, but I did like how you integrated and played with the theme. Very nice effort!

Razor Dodgor ( Razer Dodger) by shotty456 2014-12-08T20:25:00

Why, world? Why? is what I thought when I played this game. It's a good, basic design really benefitting from the 'less is more' idea. I personally didn't like the razor design, I know that most of us aren't artists (Hell, I'm as far from one as you'll see) but it could've benefitted from something a little different, maybe even something a little more abstract. Other than that, nice little game.

Lombom by Kevin_twenty7 2014-12-08T19:01:00

I really like what's presented here, even though it's a bit rough at the edges. It seems pretty unique, and I like unique games! :)
While I can imagine the not seeing where you will teleport exactly as an intended mechanic, I feel that there should be some feedback as to where you're going. Maybe a little blink in the direction you're moving, every time you press an arrow key? Not showing the destination, but showing the general direction, as well as showing the player that he's doing the right thing.
Other than that, nice game!

Course de Fonte by 11-barreaux 2014-12-11T17:27:00

It looked nice, it was a bit vague what was happening, but the avatar looked cute. I do think you need a bit more... story, or at least let the player know what's happening.

Also, be aware that you should vote other entries, otherwise you won't be rated, and therefor won't have a score in the end!

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-08T19:25:00

@Joris Thank you for the feedback, maybe I can make sure, for a post-compo version, that there's a way to hide and show the text so it's not so.. in the way :)
@davesoft Sorry for that. Do you have any more information, because unfortunately I cannot fix something I cannot reproduce!

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-08T19:44:00

@Gouda while the game should feel 'laggy', and it is indeed partially by design, it could also be that, on slower computers, it starts to be more a drag than a feature, so be aware of that!

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-08T20:11:00

I've added a video, please have a check, if the game runs (much) slower on your PC, it might not be playable, unfortunately, unless I do some serious optimization... and that wouldn't really be in check with the rule not to really change your game other than bugfixes!

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-09T08:01:00

I've changed the entry point/hallway a little bit; it's now a room. I'm hoping that will solve the confusion of moving for most of you.

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-10T11:57:00

@OttersDen thanks for playing! :) Unfortunately, due to the way I've implemented it, the updating is bound to the speed of your computer.

I've also had a report from a friend saying the same bug happened to him, I'll go ahead and see whether I can reproduce it tonight.

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-11T15:50:00

If you're having trouble with the arrows, please download the DEBUGHELP version and send me the Log it generates after playing, so I can see what's going on and hopefully fix it!

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-11T17:12:00

Thanks everyone, I have a load of ideas for the post-compo version, and all your nice words really motivate me to make it XD

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-11T17:22:00

@ZNCatlaw I try to play the games of everyone who played my games and commented, that's the least I can do, right?

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-11T18:26:00

@felix part of the reason for the effect is that it actually is drawing the pixels, so without some refactoring I can't really do anything different. Still, for a post-compo version I have some ideas on how to increase the speed massively, which will allow me to control the speed of the scanline and make the game more enjoyable for everyone. I hope :P

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-11T18:49:00

@felix yeah, I just wanted an easy way to manipulate pixels, realising that it wouldn't be quite as fast as maybe possible. I still had a lot of fun doing it :P

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-11T18:51:00

@jhice yes, i found it. It's really weird, it seems to just crash or block for no reason that i can discern.

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-11T19:00:00

@felix I've done more stuff with pixels, check out my demo reel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgJJhjZO4Us&list=UUzPfZTro-zRKoagmstZ_j2g It's just been a while, cause I mostly stopped doing it when I finished school and started working on mortgage software.

Hackception by Gemberkoekje 2014-12-11T19:39:00

@davesoft added.

To Fight The Sea by BretHudson 2014-12-11T17:08:00

Really pretty, but the game didn't catch me as well as some others. Maybe you should try Cycle: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=36629 It takes the same game concept, but makes it so much more fun.

So yeah, if you can pair the graphics with a game that's a little more fun to play, you got a real winner ;)

I've played your game, the controls were a bit confusing at first, but the ending is cute!

Reap by managore 2015-12-15T11:59:00

Your game has the same problem as mine; it takes a little too long to get anything done :) I think with a bit of tweaks this could be an even more fun game than it's now :)

Thank you for this game, very nice.

I've also looked at your points for my game, and they are almost all points I want to pick up in a post compo version, so thanks also for giving me feedback :) One of the things I'd like to add is that you start with a settler, instead of an actual city, so you can indeed start near a forest.

Enlarge your Shifumi by Lythom 2015-12-24T12:02:00

It's a bit of a weird game, but I liked the originality!

Rebuild / Resist by saint11 2015-12-15T12:12:00

I think I found a little bug... when upgrading the campfire to 24+ it briefly went to the giant building, then back to the 23.9 stage, but then I couldn't repair it anymore...

Other than that really nice entry.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Candylicious by monaarc 2016-04-18T18:48:00

Nice game, a bit confusing as there's just food hurtling to you at breakneck speeds and you're just trying to figure out which control does what.

The gameplay wasn't really my style, I found it a little too confusing, but that might be me. Maybe if you balance it a bit, so it starts a bit easier and you can get into the rhythm, it would've been better.

Shape Rave by MintArcade 2016-04-18T18:15:00

That was so flashy, I feel my eyes are popping out... (That's a compliment, i think :P)

Not really my kind of game, but pretty well executed. Because the shapes were black, it was sometimes a bit hard to see which kind of shape I was supposed to go to, but other than that, nice entry!

SHIFT by Wevel 2016-04-18T18:43:00

I found this an interesting, though wholly confusing concept. The fact that you needed an entire page to explain your game is probably proof enough :P

Maybe a more dedicated tutorial level would've explained a lot.

Finally: Why'd you call your game Shift, while the actual Shift key does nothing?! ;)

play by pjimmy 2016-04-18T18:38:00

Nice concept, though I had unplayable key-to-game lag, it took like 5 seconds until the bat moved. I'm going to send that off as a local issue though and won't show it in your rating ;)

I really like the concept and the whole graphics 'theme' you wrapped around the music, though I do wonder if you're adhering to the compo rules, which state that you should've made (or generated) everything yourself, within certain limitations. I won't be mean and report you, but maybe it's better if you re-apply this game in the 'Jam' category.

I did find the gameplay itself to be a bit boring, but I understand you focused on the effects rather than the gameplay.

Kingdom of Metamorphs by AinoraZ 2016-04-18T18:03:00

(RE: P.S. Sorry to all the linux and mac users out there) you could install the WebGL package to Unity, and then you can make a WebGL version which you can just throw online, and then everyone can play online. Check my online version here: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-35/?action=preview&uid=5952

To your game then :)

Interesting boardgame. I like the tips, they really give you a bit of guidance what you should do. The graphics could've been a bit more interesting, but I'm not against the minimalistic setting.

At first, I thought I couldn't see which of my minions could still move, but then I saw the blinking... it's really hard to notice. I found it a bit weird that I could keep spawning minions each turn without perceivable penalty. I found the CPU turn to be a bit slow, but that might be me.

In general, I hope you keep developing this, it's a nice idea, but it needs just a bit more development, maybe some alternative unit types, maybe a resource management system of sorts (e.g. some fields give coins, and you need coins to spawn new items)

Shift City by TLansdale 2016-04-18T18:26:00

That was intense. Sometimes it was a little confusing what I was supposed to do. I had the artist on a piece with 2 road connections, and he wanted to see 4 towers or gardens? But I only have 2 road connections? Maybe you can resolve this by a little tutorial or a little diagram.

Other than that it could be nice if you could add a little text to each tile what kind of tile it is, and then maybe turn it on or off with a shortcut, so you don't need to guess/check from your description which is which.

All in all a solid entry.

Flight of a bee by terop 2016-04-18T18:19:00

Be aware that you can change the names of the links above, when I made a timelapse I usually used one of those links (instead of in the comments)

To your game then. I have no idea why I'm doing what I'm doing, or whether there's a point to the game at all. There's no issue with that, but if the point is that there is no point, you should consider telling that to the player, even if you only do that in the description above :)

It looked quite nice, but due to the vagueness I can't really see me doing this for a long time.

Platformery by mhlbrothers 2016-04-18T18:31:00

I'm not much for platformers, but this was a nice, pretty challenging ride, even if it is relatively short. You should consider for a post-compo version to expand on the idea, get more levels and get more shapes - for example a shape which can destroy icicles but cannot jump and moves real slowly, etcetera.

All in all a pretty good effort for a first completed game :)

TiltForm by Gemberkoekje 2016-04-18T09:26:00

Thanks. The 99999 is a default for not any; it should be noted that the lower the score, the better in this case, as it's just the seconds before you finish :)

TiltForm by Gemberkoekje 2016-04-18T18:04:00

@terop aww, hadn't noticed that yet, I'll make sure to keep an eye out for the post-compo version :)

TiltForm by Gemberkoekje 2016-04-18T18:39:00

@monaarc thanks, I made the first level to be simple while forcing you to shapeshift at least once, but you're right, a more dedicated tutorial level would be even better :)

TiltForm by Gemberkoekje 2016-04-18T18:45:00

Comeon everyone, I know level 5 is hard, but it's definetly finishable!

TiltForm by Gemberkoekje 2016-04-21T17:35:00

@sftrabbit thank you; there is the pause button, but no quicker way to quit/reset.

Shifting Shadows by Max Amaden 2016-04-18T17:53:00

The game looks very nice, though I found the gameplay only attractive for the first 2 loot items/guards, then it became tedious (I still played until I died, so it wasn't that bad, it just became repetitive)

I think I would've preferred a more puzzly element, for example that you needed to shapeshift to a specific item to fool different kinds of guards.

That said, overall it's still pretty nice.

Literal Shifting by RoboOggy 2016-04-18T18:12:00

A general tip: In my experience, it's best to keep your normal day rhythm. Even if you pull out a few hours at night, you'll get them right back in your face at around 4 PM the next day!

Anyway, To your game. I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing, in fact at some point I rolled out of the field forwards, and it didn't even kill me, so now I'm falling in the void. I noticed I could roll around, but I couldn't figure out how to shapeshift or do anything other than dying either on one side or the other. I'm sure I'm missing something, but a general tip for next time: Add just that bit of text, even if it sits on a wall or something, with just the minimum of what the player needs.

ShapeShifter by JozefGorila 2016-04-18T17:39:00

As mentioned before, it's rather confusing, especially with the crusher, fireballs and bullets. It might've been better if you'd used the actual shapes, or at least a 'ghost' of the shape you should be.
That said, it's a nice first try, if you think a bit better about conveying to the player what they should do I think you'll do even better next time!

color shift by ninja00283 2016-04-18T17:45:00

I played that longer than I thought in advance.

I liked it quite well, it was pretty addictive once you get the hang of it, but I think it could've been better if you hadn't thrown in so many different aspects, as half the time I had no idea why I died.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

CODE:WELL by superpatch 2020-10-05T22:30:10Z

Ok, this is seriously cool. There are some bugs, like I think it was supposed to be a double jump but sometimes I could just fly? And the attacking and enemies are a bit meh. But the visuals are stunning, I think you could've gotten away with just going through the levels as a sort of puzzle/adventure game and it would have been fine. Well done.

Ferrovia Folle (Crazy Railway) by Marco Stagni 2020-10-05T22:16:27Z

It seems that the game doesn't start in Firefox, but it did work in Chrome so I did play it. I liked the idea, it's like snake, however the controls felt quite clunky. I think it would have been better if you could just drag your mouse and make tracks that way.

Looptober by Kornel 2020-10-06T08:56:22Z

Interesting puzzle game with some potential. I didn't really see the added value in the loop concept, that could have been explained a little better. But the whole minion controlling thing? I'm so down for that. I enjoyed the graphics, and if you can add more features with the minions in a post-compo version, I think this could be a really cool game.

PARAD🕑X SECURITY by grizeldi 2020-10-09T11:40:02Z

That was pretty cool. Graphics looked good, even though it's mostly lighting tricks it does the job really well. Gameplay was a tad confusing at first, but then it clicked and it was really fun to stay away from your other selves, stay away from the anomaly, and slowly but quicker each time wittle them down. Nice game!

Rock Bottom Serfdom by upcharlie 2020-10-07T15:10:52Z

It might be my computer, but the game completely died on me after a single day. As for the bit I saw: A bit of a tutorial or a "Press E here" popup would help. And yeah, a 48/72 hour challenge is not the best opportunity to learn a new thing, but on the other hand, if you join again next time and do another Unreal project, you'll be able to use what you learned this time so all good!

Couples Delight by KingOfNova 2020-10-05T22:47:36Z

Ok, one: I'd never end up anywhere 20 minutes late, least of all a date. Second, I would never give these stupid answers. Third, This is probably why I'm single shut up.

Trajectory by KaisenTheGreatOne 2020-10-06T21:09:50Z

In the version I played, after I finished the first level, the ENGAGE button didn't work, didn't do anything. I see that there are more levels, but I'm afraid I couldn't play them T_T

Wall-A Project by Martin.Delemotte 2020-10-06T21:05:33Z

Oohh, this looks pretty. Also a tad psychedelic, but it looks nice and unique so I can't really complain. I did need like 5 minutes to figure out what exactly I was supposed to do, a little bit of ingame text or visualization would've been nice in the first level. And at the fourth level I just got stuck, but that might be because I've just had 72 hours of game programming and my brain's still not entirely recuperated. Nice game!

CodeRunner by Nairi 2020-10-06T09:08:19Z

I've never seen anyone taking 'playing with code' so littural. As a programmer, it's a funny concept. I actually played it for pretty long, so it was pretty engaging. The only things I kinda missed were a concept of dying (losing HP didn't seem like much of a problem) and a concept of score. Also the levels were a bit same-y and a bit more randomness would have been nice. But other than that, cool weapons, cool boss battles, and a nice general style.

Kessler by Vanea 2020-10-05T22:21:16Z

The game doesn't really communicate what you should do. I know the menu says to use x against y, but while playing it ends up being a really confusing shootemup. I think this has potential, if the hazards and the ways to counter are communicated better, with colors or better symbols. Also, when you die a small popup or anything would be nice.

Oops Loops by michaelaranda 2020-10-06T10:10:50Z

Jeepers, you won! I liked the level changing mechanic, though at first I really wasn't sure where to go to and I used quite a lot of cards 'in vain'. Maybe a map or at least a compass would've been nice. Also, at least at first, it's a bit hard to predict exactly how the map is going to change. Not sure how to fix that, maybe a sphere in the middle of the card image? But yeah, very nice and fun game, well done!

Caterpillar Dissent: Deliverance by Skleembof 2020-10-07T15:19:19Z

I loved the katamari damacy vibes, though yeah, the game is pretty barebones, as I already read in the description. But you still made it, so you can be proud anyway ;)

ORBIDRONE by bixarrio 2020-10-06T21:14:26Z

I think there's a solid gameplay idea here, but as mentioned before, a tutorial and a bit better GUI would go a long way into understanding what the player is supposed to do here.

Orbit by ZEN 2020-10-05T22:39:45Z

I'm a little bit confuzzled what the goal is. I got a few with 0 astroids and I won immediately. Then I got a few with more astroids, but I could pass them but I did not clear them? Might've missed something :P Graphics are simple but effective, I wouldn't have minded a second button (to switch reverse lanes) but not bad.

Loop per Minute by On100Ruykajop 2020-10-07T15:03:54Z

The visuals and audio for the looping was very fitting, well done :) The game was very short, which was unfortunate because I wouldn't have minded playing a bit more. The whole button concept was a bit confusing, and because it almost looked like you could make the jump with a double dash, I was a bit stubborn and only pressed the button after 3 tries orso. So yeah, unfortunate that it's so short, because there's a lot of potential here!

BLACKLOOPHOLE by A sMILE 2020-10-06T10:12:29Z

@dracesbane You might've been unlucky, but you might've been able to grab it with some well timed jetpack usage.

BLACKLOOPHOLE by A sMILE 2020-10-06T20:16:15Z

@skleembof I had the idea to add a mechanic where you need to keep the fuel upright by balancing, but it was slashed due to time ;)

BLACKLOOPHOLE by A sMILE 2020-10-06T22:40:21Z

@moffkalast There is a tutorial for a unity black hole shader done with shader forge, I adapted that one so we can use it in the newer universal pipeline shader maker in Unity itself.

Return 0; by IkerNoya 2020-10-07T15:14:11Z

This game is too hard, it doesn't really ramp up but within 2 screens you get so many enemies baring down on you, the game could've used a little bit of balancing.

15 Seconds time cop by teonino 2020-10-07T14:57:52Z

Fun mechanics and the gameplay is interesting. The only thing I'd change is to give every single person something unique, now it's really hard to discern people. Partially that's of course the point, but it felt a bit unnecessarily hard to me.

Clockwork Climber by TaxemicSpark27 2020-10-06T15:06:55Z

I loved the asthetic, but I really didn't like the control scheme. It felt more like fighting to get my character broadly where I wanted him than playing it.

Piece Of Cake by TheAppleCake 2020-10-06T09:54:26Z

Nice game! I love the background music, the cute graphics, and the gameplay is engaging. It also generally works really well, though I had one time I couldn't slot an arrow in a place, but fortunately I had another of the same arrow and that worked. Great job!

RUFF TIME by rickropes 2020-10-06T15:02:20Z

I got a bit stuck on the fourth level, as it seemed I only ever could have 1 'reflection' and I couldn't figure out how to make multiple ones. A bit of a tutorial or a hint system would've been nice. The character's graphics were nice, the level graphics maybe a bit boring but servicable. I liked the gameplay concept as well.

Stuck in a Hula Loop by RichardK 2020-10-06T09:46:29Z

I got loose from the hula hoop. erm... yay? Very short, a little confusing (But that's mostly because I expected more, more levels or new objectives or whatever) Graphics are servicable, and... erm... well, I think that's about all I can say about it.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-06T09:20:41Z

I liked the idea with the whole time and decay thing, however it felt a bit - either too long or too repetitive - to keep playing. So getting the upgrades kept me going for a while, but I wouldn't have minded a bit of a compass or a map or something to make finding all the things a bit easier. I also liked the shooting mechanic, though it was indeed unfortunate there was only one enemy. That said, a lot of potential for a real fun post compo game ;)

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Save The Jazz by Tutti Ankka 2018-04-23T07:44:44Z

Fun game, but you should give a little more feedback on what is 'on beat' and 'off beat' other than just dying. Half the time I felt like I was moving on the beat and still got caught, even though I wasn't in the light area.

Save The Jazz by Tutti Ankka 2018-04-23T08:17:14Z

I saw the lights, but it would've been better if, for example, the screen would shake when you move off beat, and the worse you are off-beat the worse the screen would shake. That way you give feedback on player actions, instead of just showing the beat.

Flappy Nerd by eddynardo 2018-04-23T11:43:06Z

Hah, nice one! You may want to consider adding some hotkeys for the buttons, saves some clicking (I've had some of the same comments in my game, check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/spur-of-the-moment-racing)

Meta Defense by ragnta 2018-04-23T12:26:41Z

I feel like you pulled together a few too much concepts here, and the result is quite confusing. Wouldn't mind a polished post-compo version though!

Demon Dash by superpokeunicorn 2018-04-23T09:26:44Z

I'm sorry, I'm on a work computer so I can't open JAR files. Remind me this evening and I'll try it on my home PC!

Heart-Type by ysty 2018-04-23T10:23:29Z

Nice game! I really like how you used the typing speed to determine your speed in the bullet hell scenes. The bullet hell parts felt a little too long, but that could well be personal preference.

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-04-23T08:10:48Z

I'm so confused (But I never understood Tinder anyway) and I felt like the rhythm was a bit too fast to also look at the screen and see how your date is doing. So maybe for a post-compo version let the player choose the song so he can go for a nice smooth slow ballad :)

Chesburgrellia by niborious 2018-04-24T09:15:46Z

That was a lot of fun. Loved the little humor of the burgers going off to fight it, and I loved that each burger had their own filling and you could see it in the fight. Well done!

Cartenstein by Iluvatar 2018-04-23T08:58:30Z

I did really like the artstyle and nice combination of adventure and deckbuilding.

The Big Spy Fiction-Comedy Mashup Game by karmo 2018-04-23T09:34:55Z

I'm not much for text adventures, but I did see the amount of detail you've gone through. Well done!

Space Maths by mikedirl 2018-04-23T09:33:55Z

Nice idea, could've done with a little more feedback. You would be surprised what a little screen flash or screen shake can do to reward or penalize players. Alternatively maybe a little blue hue around the spaceship when you do it right, to signify the powerup.

Space Maths by mikedirl 2018-04-24T08:36:05Z

@mikedirl My point was to give some feedback on how the player is doing, though in this case, a screen flash would be a little better than a screen shake. E.g. red if you do it wrong (you overshoot the 100) and white if you do it right (you get exactly 100) and no flash if you're still over 100.

Deadication by bcvery1 2018-04-23T08:33:45Z

I didn't hear any sound, should there be? (Otherwise you could've disabled Audio rankings) Nice idea, a bit confusing though. Maybe a little tutorial would've been nice what you need to do, cause all my humans died and now I have no brains to eat T_T

Kinbaku by vkmicro 2018-04-23T09:28:02Z

I liked the graphics, the gameplay was a bit 'eh' but that's absolutely down to personal preference. Nice work regardless!

Match3 attack by Aterlamia 2018-04-23T08:15:25Z

Great concept, execution is still a little rough around the edges but I think this could become a real fun post-compo game! Nice job!

Guns N' Goals by emf31 2018-04-24T09:05:26Z

Interesting concept, I like how you mashed up rocketleague and guns and it could really work. One thing I didn't like was the audio: It felt like I was hitting a tiny foam ball or something, not a huge boulder. Other than that, well done, and I'd love to see this fully fleshed out because this could be so funny 3v3 on the web or with AI.

TASball by fasterthanlime 2018-04-24T09:20:27Z

I am so confused. I read the help, but even when I did the motor thing, the flipper didn't move. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I do hope you can make a post-compo version, because just the pinball + programming mechanic seems like a lot of fun!

Soccer Battle Royale by ditzel 2018-04-23T09:31:21Z

Interesting little game, though I'm not sure what the right tactics are. A post-compo multiplayer version of this would be hilarious!

A Nightmare on the Canned Goods Aisle by Tudvari 2018-04-23T08:57:23Z

I'm so confused and I felt like the game was a little slow, but that might be my personal preference. I do hope you can flesh it out a bit more in a post-compo version!

Scarry by Memel06 2018-04-24T09:35:52Z

The mood of this game is awesome, really well done. Maybe I was missing something, but I had no idea where to go to to get that second cookie, let alone the other 3. Something of a hint system could be useful, considering your use of sound it might be cool to have a little audible ping once you're going in the right direction, something like that.

Flappy Bird + Tetirs = FLAPTRIS by Mazzletov 2018-04-23T07:38:23Z

Wow this is fiendish. Haven't even got a single line in my first try. Great game! My score was like 800 orso :P

DeathBall by Andreadbx 2018-04-23T11:40:22Z

This game doesn't work properly on my work PC T_T. Remind me to play it tonight when I'm home because it does look quite interesting!

Alchemist Adventure by Keppu 2018-04-24T09:25:45Z

Nice game! Looking at the feel, I was expecting a bit more of a Bomberman kind of explosions, but the current execution is fun as well. Those skeletons are annoying though ;)

Alchemist Adventure by Keppu 2018-04-24T17:53:13Z

@Keppu annoying me in a challenging way ;) That said, I wouldn't mind another way of defending against them, getting them into an explosion somehow is a little annoying, but it's quite possible that would take too much of the gameplay away, so it's a fine line.

Zombie shooter FPS Top view by Tomáš Selmeci 2018-04-23T09:36:31Z

I totally missed when or how you get to FPS mode T_T. Nice game, could do with a bit more feedback, a little screen shake or flash when you get hit or your base gets hit.

Zombie shooter FPS Top view by Tomáš Selmeci 2018-04-23T13:30:08Z

@KayZ ah, thanks!

Spur of the Moment Racing by gemberkoekje 2018-04-23T07:59:12Z

@danby Thanks :) @fashionbatman Yeah, the AI is pretty laughable at times XD - I hope to have some time post-compo, I'd love to do some machine learning on this thing, let the AI flesh out itself!

Spur of the Moment Racing by gemberkoekje 2018-04-23T08:06:07Z

@potondo Thanks! For a post-compo version I want to do bezier curves, so that the whole grass&checkpoint issue is a bit less. The reason they are so big is because otherwise you'd get really annoyed at sharp-ish corners. I'll put controlling with keys on my post-compo to do list as well, great idea and thanks for playing!

Spur of the Moment Racing by gemberkoekje 2018-04-23T11:36:29Z

@Andreadbx Is already on my post-compo to do list, but yes! Thanks!

Spur of the Moment Racing by gemberkoekje 2018-04-23T12:58:28Z

@ragnta Honestly, I've wanted to make this game for a long time. This LD & theme just gave me the perfect excuse to actually take the time to make it. And I'm glad I did!

Spur of the Moment Racing by gemberkoekje 2018-04-24T08:33:43Z

@niborious @the-icy-one Thanks for your feedback. The basic issue is that the tracks are randomly generated, and I simply didn't think about creating a track with less nodes. One of my plans is a level editor, and then it'll be easy to make a simpler track!

@vkmicro One of my plans was different skins for the cars, but I ran out of time T_T. At least it's reasonably obvious from the fact that you're the only one extruding a ghost car, but I do agree that a simple circle under the car or anything would've been even more clear. Thanks for the feedback!

Spur of the Moment Racing by gemberkoekje 2018-04-24T17:50:35Z

@Darylsteak Improving the AI would be one of my post-compo points, they're really dumb right now XD Thanks for the feedback!

@mrspeaker It's already on the list of post-compo points, so I'll definetly make a new version with some more keyboard controls. The music was made with the abundant music tool (see the original post) but I wanted to be high-tempo and arcadey. I succeeded in making it high-tempo! Thanks for the feedback!

Spur of the Moment Racing by gemberkoekje 2018-04-25T15:53:43Z

@TomekS That could work.. if my levels aren't all randomly generated (The 4 levels are simply based on a specific seed which made relatively-nice levels) and I prioritized other stuff for the weekend... For the post-compo though I really have some ideas how to make the AI really cool! Thanks for playing!

Samantha's Kitchen by thesedatedprince 2018-04-23T13:29:30Z

I found the intro text a little too long, especially when I became too stressed and had to redo the level.

Solid Snake by Petro Shoferystov 2018-04-23T09:32:21Z

My work PC doesn't run this (well, unless we're talking 'seconds per frame' instead of 'frames per second') Remind me to play this when I'm home tonight, because it does look interesting!

Stupid Monkeys by Dylan Fries 2018-04-24T09:30:17Z

It looks interesting but it's a little confusing what the point is of the game. Also it took me a little while to figure out what the food was, and why there was no food at some point (hint: it was winter) Still, the basic look and feel is interesting, consider taking some extra time post-compo to flesh it out more because I think it could be really interesting!

Crescendo by VivianMochi 2018-04-23T09:25:10Z

I really like the concept, and while it took me a few tries to get how the switch worked, it was a real fun experience after that. Also great feedback, it was pretty intuitive (except for the switch)

Monster Stew by Aaron Nemoyten 2018-04-23T08:56:00Z

Nice idea, and nice mashup of genres. If you have the time to flesh it out a little more for a post-compo game, I think this could really work!

Papa Mazai by WalkDiGidong 2018-04-23T09:29:40Z

This was kinda confusing, you probably picked up a bit TOO many ideas and mashed them together. The cat eating was so funny though, even though I worried about the cats safety /o\

Six Shooter: Cowboy vs Aliens by Danby 2018-04-23T07:57:51Z

Nice game! One thing I would improve is the feedback on getting hit, you'd be surprised what a simple screen flash or screen shake would do! Other than that, good graphics and nice game :)

Cat Pack by Potondo 2018-04-23T09:07:16Z

All these weird genre mashups are doing my head in already, and I've only rated about 15 games hah. Anyway, nice combination of RTS and action, I found it a little too hard but that's absolutely personal preference.

Sneaky by The_Icy_One 2018-04-23T08:20:53Z

Also doesn't start for me. The error is "Error: Could not load game path '.'."

Sounds like you may have missed some game files or a map which should've been packed with the game. Poke me when you fixed it and I'll definetly give it a whirl.

Sneaky by The_Icy_One 2018-04-24T09:10:36Z

Works now! Fun and simple game. The only thing I felt was really missing was a bit more feedback. A little exclamationmark when the enemies see you. A little circle or cone to have an indication when the enemies would react. Little things like that could really make this even more fun. Still, thanks for the game!
