LD18 — Enemies as Weapons

Man Cannon by L 2010-08-23T00:59:00

Really hectic! I liked it a lot, nicely done.

I liked how you had to "build up" on enemies so you could destroy the tanks. It was an interesting concept.

Isolation by MoltenMustafa 2010-08-23T12:22:00

@Zillix: Did any error messages pop up? That doesn't sound exactly like a surface issue ... I'll start looking at it. Did you skip the intro or watch it all the way through?

Isolation by MoltenMustafa 2010-08-23T15:27:00

That is really weird. I'm trying to replicate it, but I can't. I don't know if it's a surface drawing error or not, but it could be ... the thing is, if it were, the game itself shouldn't work at all because the viewports themselves are scaled via surfaces. Hm, strange.

Isolation by MoltenMustafa 2010-08-23T23:58:00

Yeah run-jumping definitely needed some work, I think it was a combination of the run-speed and the jump height that made it so tedious. If I ever update this game I'll probably make the player jump a tiny bit higher so the harder jumps aren't as annoying. The thing about making the run speed slower is that the player is only 4 pixels wide, so when he's running he is moving 2 pixels every step event. Making him move 1.5 pixels every step would look kinda weird. Thanks for the feedback, by the way, I appreciate it :D

Isolation by MoltenMustafa 2010-08-28T16:21:00

Thanks for the feedback guys, I plan to update the game once the competition ends, so I really appreciate the criticism :)

@Spooner: Yeah, the whole "Get enemies in chests" thing kinda popped into my mind one night. I wasn't to fond of it either, now that I think about it.

@ExcitedMike: I was actually really worried about that, that's one thing I plan to fix when I update.

@JDruid: That's my style ;)

Rubber and Glue by alexandersshen 2010-08-22T22:41:00

Ha! That was pretty funny! I enjoyed it a lot, nicely done :)

My only complaint is that the randomness seems a bit "too" random, I ran into I think 20 douche's in row. Seems people hate me lol

Defend Your Glacier by Meep 2010-08-23T01:05:00

Nicely done! I liked the enemy creativity, thought it was pretty funny that the sledding snowman cried every time you hit him :P

Bubble Tag by Sparky 2010-08-23T13:26:00

Wow, that was pretty cool. Had a lot of fun, things get pretty hard later on.

LD19 — Discovery

Frolicking Furballs Safari Resort by Sos 2010-12-21T23:24:00

I loved the music. The um ... "ending" was pretty funny too! Good job.

-REACH- by Zachary Lewis 2010-12-20T08:37:00

Cool names I got: THAWFFAR, ULKICHVH, YICSDYNE, and XSVAAPAU.

It fit the theme really well, and I found myself wanting to find more planets despite how simplified everything was. It would be cool if you updated this with more information about the planets (Like, what they look like, stuff like that). I wouldn't fix the name generation though, that's part of what made it so charming for me. Nicely done!

1492Island by Valandre 2010-12-20T08:26:00

Really fun. I liked the "weakness" mechanic, it made things interesting! The fog of war fit the theme really well too. Congratulations on finishing!

1492Island by Valandre 2010-12-20T08:28:00

Oops, forgot to rate it.

Dinosaur Dance-Off by Draknek 2010-12-20T08:40:00

http://www.draknek.org/dance/?dino=iyj OOO IT'S A GHOST

Awesome game! Not much else to say, it's pretty simple but I still found it kinda fun to mess with.

LD20 — It's Dangerous to Go Alone! Take This!

>Start >Fight >Run by bentosmile 2011-05-02T22:45:00

POOR KITTEN D: Haha, I loved it! You're getting really good at these short-story-type games. The writing was especially nice, well done! :)

>Start >Fight >Run by bentosmile 2011-05-02T22:47:00

Oops, forgot to vote. My bad :P

4 TEMPLES by MoltenMustafa 2011-05-01T08:57:00

Nah, it's fine. Let me know what you think of the difficulty, I'm worried that I might have made the game too hard.

4 TEMPLES by MoltenMustafa 2011-05-01T09:01:00

Gah, I knew I should have checked all the doors. :( Oh well, I'll fix it tomorrow when I'm less tired. I appreciate the input! :)

4 TEMPLES by MoltenMustafa 2011-05-02T09:06:00

I had fun ripping of Mario's hidden blocks with the temple of death, haha. Glad you liked the ambiance! :)

Oh, and on the level with the shovel, go as far to the right as you can at the beginning. I have a feeling that may have been a bit unforgiving; I was originally gonna put a secret there instead of making it mandatory.

Against the Wall by Acheron 2011-05-05T09:42:00

Mouse sensitivity was way too high. Otherwise I quite enjoyed it.

Appy 1000mg by deepnight 2011-05-05T10:01:00

WOW. That is all I have to say. Amazing job.

Take This by jovoc 2011-05-02T02:00:00

Looks cool! Eagerly awaiting the windows build :)

Take This by jovoc 2011-05-02T22:50:00

I laughed pretty hard at the dancing guy, haha. Nicely done! I liked the art style :)

Dangerous II by SMSadventure 2011-05-01T08:54:00

Ha! I feel enlightened ...

LD22 — Alone

Locked Away by MoltenMustafa 2011-12-21T07:11:00

Thanks for all the positive comments, guys! I'd actually love to make more levels if I find time :)

Locked Away by MoltenMustafa 2011-12-23T01:47:00

Did you fall to the treasure? That was an intended shortcut, and the only way to get the treasure. Lucky :P

Locked Away by MoltenMustafa 2012-01-10T21:47:00

That game was my main inspiration for the art direction, actually. I'm a big fan of Locomalito :)

LD23 — Tiny World

When Worlds Collide by AlwaysGeeky 2012-04-26T22:28:00

Had to play without shaders but I still thought it looked pretty good. The gameplay is pretty simple, all you do is mash the mouse buttons as much as you can ... but the destruction of the world made it really fun to look at; I think some sound effects would have benefited this game greatly.

Either way, I enjoyed it for what it is. Nicely done :)

Tiny Garden of Hope by steamgirl 2012-04-26T04:11:00

Hey, neat little game! I like how everything turns all green at the end and how the little robot character talks throughout everything. Nicely don!

Pocket Planet by MoltenMustafa 2012-04-24T01:11:00

Yeah I was worried the Underhang might be too difficult ... glad you enjoyed the music though! I had a lot of fun doing that.

This Precious Land by Ishisoft 2012-04-25T03:41:00

Love the art style; It's really fun to experiment with different combinations to see what happens. Lots of fun!

This Precious Land by Ishisoft 2012-04-26T22:21:00

LOL, I forgot to rate it. M'bad.

LD28 — You Only Get One

One Minute Level by MoltenMustafa 2013-12-19T05:04:00

Well that's why the title is ONE minute level :P

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

SideLands by MoltenMustafa 2014-12-08T17:40:00

Thanks for testing it merrak, I'm sorry it doesn't work. Unfortunately there's not much I can do in that regard as I don't have a machine that runs Ubuntu and Game Maker: Studio doesn't have an export to it (Yet). Thanks again.

I appreciate the input Joppiesaus, I'm relieved to kow that you enjoyed the controls as those were my main worry. I definitely want to attempt to make a larger game out of this control mechanic someday.

SideLands by MoltenMustafa 2014-12-08T19:49:00

Dave, that's really weird. Did you see the title pop up at all? Or was it just a black screen from the beginning?

SideLands by MoltenMustafa 2014-12-08T21:15:00

drludos, the game uses pixel shaders, so that's probably why it won't run on your PC. I'm sorry :(

OMNI by Noah Ratcliff 2014-12-11T05:06:00

Really cool take on the theme. Despite using a laptop trackpad I found myself really engaged playing the game, which I consider quite an accomplishment. Easily one of the best games I've played so far. The music was sick btw

Interezza by oskardevelopment 2014-12-08T18:21:00

I'm honestly really impressed by the simplicity and elegance of these mechanics. The only thing I would consider changing, is player feedback. Due to the brightness of highlighted tiles, it can be hard to see whether or not your color has overtaken a space. This could be fixed by changing the sound for when the player loses, or highlighting the tiles in a different manner. Other than that minor complaint, I think this is very good. I'm a huge fan of simple procedural games :D

Kerfuffle by rabbit 2014-12-08T19:17:00

I really love the controls and game feel of this one. Even though I wasn't playing with anybody I had a blast jumping around and slapping the shit out of the non-existant second player :P Nicely done!

Popao by christopf 2014-12-09T22:56:00

This is hilarious and awesome and I love it. :D

Attack of the Screen Scrollers by drludos 2014-12-08T18:32:00

Awesome idea, I really like the presentation of it and the concept as a whole. Nicely done.

birdsong by managore 2014-12-24T22:22:00

I loved the effect but the "Walking on the bottom of the world" part of the game (As I'm coining it) was seriously mindblowing. Great little game, got a bit frustrating at parts but I absolutely love the aesthetic and getting to fly around at the end was fun. Great atmospheric music too!

Super Cave In by sputnik 2014-12-11T05:18:00

Runs a bit laggy on my laptop but I could see this game having a lot of depth. The simplicity of the controls does a good job of making it accessible while still offering lots of possibilities in gameplay, just like classic arcade games. I'd say for 48 hours you successfully pulled off your arcade feel ;D Nicely done!

Snowy Eel Perimeter by qristofer 2014-12-08T22:19:00

I really love the music, it's catchy and silly (In the right way). It's a shame that this isn't finished, because what is there is very polished. I can understand though, 48 hours is not very much time so it can be hard to finish something under such tight time constraints. I really love the graphical style, general aesthetics and gunplay; Just wish it was a finished game. Regardless, nice job :)

Fido, Fiona & Fidel by pjimmy 2014-12-08T17:47:00

That was a unique experience. I thought the idea was neat, guessing which pet you should believe when the parrot is yelling HOT was surprisingly intense. The audio kind of confused me though, as I couldn't really tell why the thumping sound occurs. Overall I thought it was nice and a very interesting take on the theme, great job!

Cobot by GameQuester 2014-12-08T18:12:00

This is interesting, I liked the teleportation mechanic a lot. I think that my main issue with the game is the controls, I'm not a huge fan of how sensitive movement is. Otherwise I'd say I liked it. Nice job!

EGOS by Mopz 2014-12-08T18:45:00

This is awesome. Very well done for 48 hours, including leaderboards was a great touch. My favorite enemies were the wall-building guys, because they would frequently trap themselves in a tomb of stone, haha. Really well done.

Abelian by merrak 2014-12-08T19:07:00

The transitions between "screens" was really cool, I liked that effect a lot. The sounds were also very juicy as well, great character feedback. The art style was simple yet affective. I really liked it, nicely done! :)

Lombom by Kevin_twenty7 2014-12-08T18:38:00

That was neat. The concept of having to visualize where the character will end up at the end of a "turn" was fun. I think it would have been even better if there was a sound effect that verified movement though, because sometimes I'd hit the arrow keys before the tiles appeared and those don't register, which threw me off my game. Other than that little complaint I'd say this was pretty cool.

Skids by locknic 2014-12-08T22:25:00

Managed to get 800 points after surviving the first wave, then promptly killed myself on the edge of the screen :P Fun mechanics, I found the destruction effects pretty impressive. Overall I found it to be an entertaining little game. Nicely done!

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Crystal Ball Chaos by MoltenMustafa 2015-04-20T05:16:00

hey miziziziz, thanks for playing the game! to answer your question it does get harder, it just takes a while. I tried to implement a "bezier curve" to the difficulty (so to speak) so it doesn't scale uniformly, but I think the algorithm could have used some tweaking because it takes far too long for things to pick up.

Crystal Ball Chaos by MoltenMustafa 2015-04-21T01:55:00

ProjectX593: That was intended, it was inspired by how tetris's blocks start turning invisible at really high levels

Wink Murder by 2kah 2015-04-21T03:53:00

hey dude I played your game and wrote about it here; http://pastebin.com/byfbeyJA really funny and unique concept, I also liked the 3d art quite a lot :)

Super Recoil Gun by cleitoneldorn 2015-04-21T03:47:00

hey man, I played your game today and wrote about it here: pastebin.com/byfbeyJA -- loved it but man was it hard. I think part of it was the fact that I'm not used to using wasd for platformers :P

Super Recoil Gun by cleitoneldorn 2015-04-21T03:48:00

oops- forgot to cast my vote

Gravity Gunner by Perjoka 2015-04-21T03:54:00

hey bro, played your game and wrote about it here http://pastebin.com/byfbeyJA. I personally really liked the fact that you could pick up rocks from literally anywhere and shoot them anywhere. I could see this being kinda fun to speedrun ;)

Gravity Gunner by Perjoka 2015-04-21T03:55:00

oops - forgot to cast my vote!

It's The Room by Miziziziz 2015-04-21T03:50:00

hey dude, I played your game and wrote about it here -- http://pastebin.com/byfbeyJA. liked the mechanic a lot, very inventive. nicely done.

Cellular Warfare by VDZ 2015-04-21T03:51:00

hey bud, played your game and wrote about it here http://pastebin.com/byfbeyJA.. neat concept if a bit hard to understand. I didn't mention it in the writeup but I also really liked the audio
