Really hectic! I liked it a lot, nicely done.
I liked how you had to "build up" on enemies so you could destroy the tanks. It was an interesting concept.

@Zillix: Did any error messages pop up? That doesn't sound exactly like a surface issue ... I'll start looking at it. Did you skip the intro or watch it all the way through?
That is really weird. I'm trying to replicate it, but I can't. I don't know if it's a surface drawing error or not, but it could be ... the thing is, if it were, the game itself shouldn't work at all because the viewports themselves are scaled via surfaces. Hm, strange.
Yeah run-jumping definitely needed some work, I think it was a combination of the run-speed and the jump height that made it so tedious. If I ever update this game I'll probably make the player jump a tiny bit higher so the harder jumps aren't as annoying. The thing about making the run speed slower is that the player is only 4 pixels wide, so when he's running he is moving 2 pixels every step event. Making him move 1.5 pixels every step would look kinda weird. Thanks for the feedback, by the way, I appreciate it :D
Thanks for the feedback guys, I plan to update the game once the competition ends, so I really appreciate the criticism :)
@Spooner: Yeah, the whole "Get enemies in chests" thing kinda popped into my mind one night. I wasn't to fond of it either, now that I think about it.
@ExcitedMike: I was actually really worried about that, that's one thing I plan to fix when I update.
@JDruid: That's my style ;)
Ha! That was pretty funny! I enjoyed it a lot, nicely done :)
My only complaint is that the randomness seems a bit "too" random, I ran into I think 20 douche's in row. Seems people hate me lol
Nicely done! I liked the enemy creativity, thought it was pretty funny that the sledding snowman cried every time you hit him :P
Wow, that was pretty cool. Had a lot of fun, things get pretty hard later on.
I loved the music. The um ... "ending" was pretty funny too! Good job.
Cool names I got: THAWFFAR, ULKICHVH, YICSDYNE, and XSVAAPAU.
It fit the theme really well, and I found myself wanting to find more planets despite how simplified everything was. It would be cool if you updated this with more information about the planets (Like, what they look like, stuff like that). I wouldn't fix the name generation though, that's part of what made it so charming for me. Nicely done!
Really fun. I liked the "weakness" mechanic, it made things interesting! The fog of war fit the theme really well too. Congratulations on finishing!
Oops, forgot to rate it.
http://www.draknek.org/dance/?dino=iyj OOO IT'S A GHOST
Awesome game! Not much else to say, it's pretty simple but I still found it kinda fun to mess with.
POOR KITTEN D: Haha, I loved it! You're getting really good at these short-story-type games. The writing was especially nice, well done! :)
Oops, forgot to vote. My bad :P
Nah, it's fine. Let me know what you think of the difficulty, I'm worried that I might have made the game too hard.
Gah, I knew I should have checked all the doors. :( Oh well, I'll fix it tomorrow when I'm less tired. I appreciate the input! :)
I had fun ripping of Mario's hidden blocks with the temple of death, haha. Glad you liked the ambiance! :)
Oh, and on the level with the shovel, go as far to the right as you can at the beginning. I have a feeling that may have been a bit unforgiving; I was originally gonna put a secret there instead of making it mandatory.
Mouse sensitivity was way too high. Otherwise I quite enjoyed it.
WOW. That is all I have to say. Amazing job.
Ha! I feel enlightened ...
Thanks for all the positive comments, guys! I'd actually love to make more levels if I find time :)
Did you fall to the treasure? That was an intended shortcut, and the only way to get the treasure. Lucky :P
That game was my main inspiration for the art direction, actually. I'm a big fan of Locomalito :)
Had to play without shaders but I still thought it looked pretty good. The gameplay is pretty simple, all you do is mash the mouse buttons as much as you can ... but the destruction of the world made it really fun to look at; I think some sound effects would have benefited this game greatly.
Either way, I enjoyed it for what it is. Nicely done :)
Hey, neat little game! I like how everything turns all green at the end and how the little robot character talks throughout everything. Nicely don!
Yeah I was worried the Underhang might be too difficult ... glad you enjoyed the music though! I had a lot of fun doing that.
Love the art style; It's really fun to experiment with different combinations to see what happens. Lots of fun!
LOL, I forgot to rate it. M'bad.
Well that's why the title is ONE minute level :P
Thanks for testing it merrak, I'm sorry it doesn't work. Unfortunately there's not much I can do in that regard as I don't have a machine that runs Ubuntu and Game Maker: Studio doesn't have an export to it (Yet). Thanks again.
I appreciate the input Joppiesaus, I'm relieved to kow that you enjoyed the controls as those were my main worry. I definitely want to attempt to make a larger game out of this control mechanic someday.
Dave, that's really weird. Did you see the title pop up at all? Or was it just a black screen from the beginning?
drludos, the game uses pixel shaders, so that's probably why it won't run on your PC. I'm sorry :(
Really cool take on the theme. Despite using a laptop trackpad I found myself really engaged playing the game, which I consider quite an accomplishment. Easily one of the best games I've played so far. The music was sick btw
I'm honestly really impressed by the simplicity and elegance of these mechanics. The only thing I would consider changing, is player feedback. Due to the brightness of highlighted tiles, it can be hard to see whether or not your color has overtaken a space. This could be fixed by changing the sound for when the player loses, or highlighting the tiles in a different manner. Other than that minor complaint, I think this is very good. I'm a huge fan of simple procedural games :D
Awesome idea, I really like the presentation of it and the concept as a whole. Nicely done.
I loved the effect but the "Walking on the bottom of the world" part of the game (As I'm coining it) was seriously mindblowing. Great little game, got a bit frustrating at parts but I absolutely love the aesthetic and getting to fly around at the end was fun. Great atmospheric music too!
Runs a bit laggy on my laptop but I could see this game having a lot of depth. The simplicity of the controls does a good job of making it accessible while still offering lots of possibilities in gameplay, just like classic arcade games. I'd say for 48 hours you successfully pulled off your arcade feel ;D Nicely done!
I really love the music, it's catchy and silly (In the right way). It's a shame that this isn't finished, because what is there is very polished. I can understand though, 48 hours is not very much time so it can be hard to finish something under such tight time constraints. I really love the graphical style, general aesthetics and gunplay; Just wish it was a finished game. Regardless, nice job :)
That was a unique experience. I thought the idea was neat, guessing which pet you should believe when the parrot is yelling HOT was surprisingly intense. The audio kind of confused me though, as I couldn't really tell why the thumping sound occurs. Overall I thought it was nice and a very interesting take on the theme, great job!
This is interesting, I liked the teleportation mechanic a lot. I think that my main issue with the game is the controls, I'm not a huge fan of how sensitive movement is. Otherwise I'd say I liked it. Nice job!
That was neat. The concept of having to visualize where the character will end up at the end of a "turn" was fun. I think it would have been even better if there was a sound effect that verified movement though, because sometimes I'd hit the arrow keys before the tiles appeared and those don't register, which threw me off my game. Other than that little complaint I'd say this was pretty cool.
hey miziziziz, thanks for playing the game! to answer your question it does get harder, it just takes a while. I tried to implement a "bezier curve" to the difficulty (so to speak) so it doesn't scale uniformly, but I think the algorithm could have used some tweaking because it takes far too long for things to pick up.
ProjectX593: That was intended, it was inspired by how tetris's blocks start turning invisible at really high levels
hey dude I played your game and wrote about it here; http://pastebin.com/byfbeyJA really funny and unique concept, I also liked the 3d art quite a lot :)
hey man, I played your game today and wrote about it here: pastebin.com/byfbeyJA -- loved it but man was it hard. I think part of it was the fact that I'm not used to using wasd for platformers :P
oops- forgot to cast my vote
hey bro, played your game and wrote about it here http://pastebin.com/byfbeyJA. I personally really liked the fact that you could pick up rocks from literally anywhere and shoot them anywhere. I could see this being kinda fun to speedrun ;)
oops - forgot to cast my vote!
hey dude, I played your game and wrote about it here -- http://pastebin.com/byfbeyJA. liked the mechanic a lot, very inventive. nicely done.
hey bud, played your game and wrote about it here http://pastebin.com/byfbeyJA.. neat concept if a bit hard to understand. I didn't mention it in the writeup but I also really liked the audio
