Hint for others: The Win32 file is a zip archive. Rename to .zip and you can extract it.

Cute game :)
Quite a lot of clicking through text but at least you didn't have to completely restart.

I loved it. It had a really nicely balanced game in there too. I don't know if it was intentional, but in the later fights I didn't lose health - I think I'd have enjoyed it more if I had, so that I'd really feel like my decisions mattered more.

The main story is hard to follow, but the feelings it conveys are really strong, so I think it works really well even if you don't fully get it.

I'm really happy to see you finish something new, and this is one of my favourites of yours.

Poignant!

I enjoyed this game a lot. The art style was superb, and the writing was great. I think some ambient noise would have helped, but I don't think it mattered that much. Bravo.

Not sure if I won or lost, but I enjoyed playing!

I really like the graphics! Very impressive. The writing and art style is superb.

I did everything right on the first go, so I'm not sure if there is a wrong way... I'll have to play again to find out, but the story was captivating.

POOR KITTEN D: Haha, I loved it! You're getting really good at these short-story-type games. The writing was especially nice, well done! :)

Oops, forgot to vote. My bad :P

I enjoyed the colorful art and the story (although I couldn't really discern any connection between the story's different layers.)

Great work on the art.

I would have had the hero on the left side of the screen, there was something a little off-putting (to me) having him on the right.

Great work with the art assets and story!

A rather sweet little story. Quite enjoyed it.
I know you said you would have liked to fix them up, but I thought the sketchy, uncoloured style of the art furthered the contrast between life and day dreams, more so than just the pixelization.

I've always loved talking to birds

matrixbai 2011-05-05 10:00

nice work, I love this story

rialgar 2011-05-06 22:34

Great game, great story, and the "not refined sketches" for the story ark awake makes it feel even better, it creates feeling of the awake world being all dreamy and the dreams being more real. That's cool

First entry throughout this compo that managed to touch me :)

You've hit a style of story-telling that utilizes a minimalistic colouring, forcing the reader to apply themselves to filling out the holes. It strengthens the interactive story-telling as I'm forced to attempt to place myself as the protagonist and not a named character in a defined universe.

A very emotional game. Thank you.

Finally got around to playing! x_x Really really nice work, I love the 'game' version graphics especially! I didn't lose health when I lost to the boss, but I guess that's intentional else I couldn't have seen all the RL scenes. Wish I finished my game on time so I could vote here!

matthias_zarzecki 2011-05-22 06:53

Haha! The way the title of the game appears at the start is brilliant.

Hooray for red/orange dragon tropes XD
