LD30 — Connected Worlds

The Lion's Song by LeafThief 2014-08-26T19:52:00

first i didn't manage to get it on any bigger resolution and was bored really fast. but as i tried it again i found out how to resize and got more captured by it.
the illustration are very nice and your sound design is gorgeous. made the most of its mood for me. also you captured the mood in generally very good (what made the kind of bored feeling in the first place). with every phonecall life came into game. i'm glad i play it to the end, thank you!

split world by zeoverlord 2014-08-27T19:46:00

haha, i like your commentary at the end. indeed its playing more like a tutorial level but it already works. maybe some moving entities could make it somehow more difficult?

Super Shaker X by voxel 2014-08-28T14:34:00

its good to play but you hit the theme not on bullseye. would love to see more story implemented in this

The Stitcher by christopf 2014-08-26T19:32:00

i'm working on a post-compo version, maybe you'll get later the chance :))

The Stitcher by christopf 2014-08-26T19:56:00

Oh guys! I will try to speed up but give me some time (its my first game)

The Stitcher by christopf 2014-08-28T07:34:00

@MunkeeBacon you definitly right. but i pushed the game as far as i could to 3am in the morning (was ddeadline here) and then thought i upload what i got. but it wasnt really game until then and i dont think anyone would have enjoyable time. but you cant delete your entry (or i couldnt figure out)

The Stitcher by christopf 2014-08-30T08:51:00

:D
that's fore sure hamster. i did not imagine to participate anymore as i removed the file off this site.
but i read on past LDs that people drop a post-competition version when they took some time after the jam to make their game better (or in my part playable). nevermind i wont think anybody will vote based on an image, a title and a lot of comments :P

Boulevard of Broken Themes by Thingo Studios 2014-08-27T19:57:00

quite good way to handle that situation :)

Lady Lyla by whalebot 2014-08-28T11:33:00

word

like how you got the story told in such a minimalistic style and still capturing the mood.

Troll Away by spolsh 2014-09-02T10:02:00

wow, i just can watch the youtube video but it looks impressive and very special. congratulations. wish you could luck if you are going to make this a full game

A Darker World by Maxr00 2014-08-28T11:24:00

i agree on the comments above, that the idea is interesting, but the state of the game isn't enjoyable to this state. +1 for the creatures looking cool

FACED by Sheepolution 2014-09-09T12:30:00

great entry, found out through robert's blogpost about leveldesign.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Leaving by My Sweet Whomp 2014-12-09T12:52:00

very cool.
sometimes it felt a little laggy although i used a quite fast machine. dunno. a little critic: the responsiveness is a little behind imo

Little Dude's Epic Adventure by Jim Haslett 2014-12-10T16:29:00

Well, that was a fast one. Love this minimalistic style and you made me laugh a few times. Also how you break the expectations in me made feel good. Good job!
Oh the critic i nearly forgot: It could be longer of course and maybe more of a story? I feel you could do that easily and the setup also is inviting. Keep up that good work!

Go farm! by vidarn 2014-12-10T12:26:00

Well, the big plus of the game for me is its audio and mood. You create a really farmish atmosphere even while its damn cold outside i feel on a sunny farming day :)
The graphics doing their job and the mechanic is working fine.
The take on the theme feels a bit lazy also it felt like there is no goal except to let things grow all over the world. Solid game.

Hectic! by zakchaos 2014-12-08T20:10:00

Man that's a hard game! And that's also what i like most about it. It's quite challenging and getting your attraction through it. But what i miss is the difference in levels, also a fullscreen mode would make things a little easier imo :D

Shvoel by dvdking 2014-12-09T13:56:00

Antivir says it has a virus called Dropper.Gen. Is it a antivir issue or does it really has it?

SideLands by MoltenMustafa 2014-12-09T14:09:00

Wow, this was the most suprising and enjoyable game so far. I like the take on the theme, the graphics, the mechanic, your humor. Well done and looking forward for more of you.

Mossnaso by Mase 2014-12-11T08:55:00

like people saying this is a "van gogh" about picture they don't know but can associate because the style and mood of the picture you can nearly say this is a "lindroth".
Beautiful technique you are using for your visuals and i also love the roughness of your programming. The sounds are just matching, i like.

Lump of Butter by Aske 2014-12-09T18:17:00

Right now i have nobody to play with so i played single-player. but it feels like this is made for 2 people so i gotta try it again with a friend. graphics are nice though

Juoi by TeamEagle 2014-12-09T13:53:00

died so often...has a good feel in general but i sometimes felt like not seeing where i'm hitting exactly. I think it would be nice to split dashing and hitting on two separate buttons.

20 Days at Sea by bitserum 2014-12-09T15:05:00

Beautiful game, the music was chosen quite well. A crossbow would have made my life much easier (maybe) :D But i'm not sure if that's a bug but the game froze at day 19 (i guess shortly before the end)

That's one point you may overthink or may not :D
In a phase i felt like couldn't do anything but also wanted to enjoy the slow pace i sometimes said to myself it's only 20 days. With the title you implement an end and you give us a countdown with the clock. But i wouldn't remove the timer (i actually love the ui in general, goodjob) but maybe overthink the title. It could give you more the feel of being lost on the sea. On the other side i gave me hope something is happening its worth waiting for. But maybe it would be interesting when the player has to find an own reason (:

Very good job!

SCREEN HEAD by NickZangus 2014-12-10T15:49:00

You hit the mood of a buro-box-buro very good. The controls aren't so good imo, i struggled often with the rotation of the hero. If i move the mouse the camera if following from behind but if walk backward it doesn't change. i would have liked a camera thats fixed on the back of the head. Well you ran out of time but something like "You did you job well" or something after killing all would be cool. Something that's saying it's over.
Overall a funny game with a well hit mood

Lost Worlds by Techblogogy 2014-12-09T09:16:00

The big plus was the mood/music for me. Very catchy and if this wouldn't been i left the game way earlier. The plattforming felt sometimes very hard but also somehow challenging. Connection to the theme is feels like you tried to avoid it but didn't search too long.

But in the end atmosphere is the most important part of a game for me and here you did a good job on this. Keep it up!

Lost Worlds by Techblogogy 2014-12-09T09:19:00

And i nearly forgot: Man, after this whole adventure of endlessly try again plattforming we get no reward?! :D Something like a little text saying: "The harmony is restored, thanks!" would have make me happy^^

Popao by christopf 2014-12-08T21:15:00

Yea, you right tomdeal. I had the same issue, its quite tricky to get the book into the notch. Maybe i can masquerade it as advanced difficulty :P

Thank you all 3 of you!

Popao by christopf 2014-12-09T14:21:00

Thank you all, i'm glad you mostly like it. Make me feel worth sitting there like 48hours tipping on a bunch of metal.

On the movement speed: That's right. I also felt like it's a little too slow. But i thought at some points you can move a book just a pixel too far so easy. So with a little slower movement you won't accidently push a block too far.
But on the otherside i implement a little break for this case and the movement speed change would contact this. I give it for the itch.io version!

@lekochen for the case you questions was out of real interest^^ i'm eating boogers since i'm born and some time ago i found an article about a canadian bio-chemical scientist who was arguing that eating your own boogers is the best thing you can do with it. It gave it a more than my intuition explanation which i found interesting. I think it's an interesting point how social conventions, which should help us, are obviously damaging us.

Oshters Fishers by Manou 2014-12-08T10:48:00

This sound is wonderful. The most powerful part of you game imo. The graphics are neat, but (and thats probably cause of the sound), the atmosphere tops it.
All in all it also seems very polished for the short time.

I kinda would have liked to see a bigger variety of fishes :)

Good job!

Arena by Poupi 2014-12-10T16:00:00

Felt a little monotone but well, its a jam, there aint so much time. Graphics are nice, combat is working. Keep it up!

The Fast and the Flatulent by Drtizzle 2014-12-10T15:34:00

What did i just play?
Game is over but my cigarette where still glowing!

Release the Yeti by bazld 2014-12-08T10:54:00

I think more content like story or a goal like a specific number of destroyed vehicles would have been it a more enjoyable experience. It feels a little dumb to swing that yeti also the physics making it quite fun.
Maybe more reactions of the audience could have intense the feel of being an actor and finding a goal for myself?

i by VLTRAUIOLET 2014-12-09T12:24:00

Well done. I found it quite hard to play, i just came to lvl 3 and that's it. I played sooo long but the mechanics are nice but also difficult and sometimes a little buggy? The soundtrack is killer

Space Guardian by Jonathan 2014-12-10T09:32:00

Haha, me too. 25 is what i got. The tune from massive attack matches very good in your game. The controls are very hard imo because the movement of the flak is quite fast = hard to aim. But well done maybe someone can break your highscore :))

Animal Roar by gillenew 2014-12-11T19:22:00

AHHH NO CHECKPOINTS! i like the music somehow also it's not my favourite type its working for me. the graphics are the huge plus also the plattforming seems quite nice, hard but fairly hard. But after getting dat climb skill a checkpoint would have been neat.
Well and no connection to the theme as it seems. That's cool but i wonder why you want to be voted on it. Well, why not :D

FISHERMANS FRIENDS by Pferd123 2014-12-08T21:35:00

XD
i love your sense of humor. short but brilliant

Four walls by sollinxp 2014-12-08T21:26:00

You already got me with going personal in concept. I'm a lover of personal story telling games. First i felt a little off-thrown through the colors and art style (the typo could get a refreshing) but somehow i felt at one point like really being that person and to decide on my personal experience if i go better sleep now or talk with my friends. Mission accomplished :=) One minus point, the music is quite stressy over time, feels more like living above a dancefloor^^

The Aardvark and the Manatee by Sanguine 2014-12-10T16:21:00

I had a delay with my mouse, maybe it's pc caused.
The game looked promising but it felt later on not really challenging. The idea behind i like a lot also the graphic style looks neat. Good luck!

colony.exe by harryzhe 2014-12-08T20:31:00

Very atmmospheric and moody game. The sounds are great and the graphics are even greater. i found it quite hard to read the typo but after a few minutes i somehow felt more comfortable with it. It took me some time to figure out what to do (the dependencies between the buildings and stuff) but that was also the fun part. Good job!

Harpoon Raccoon by mahu 2014-12-08T11:01:00

Funny game, it feels good to have another chance if you get caught. The responsiveness feels good too, maybe the harpoons could released more immediately, but it's working fine. Also the computer is quite a good opponent!

Cam16 by GhostBomb 2014-12-10T09:02:00

Cool concept, very interesting take on the theme and it pulled me well-feeling. Don't know what to say else that this game is killer.
Music would have made this even cooler but time is rare on compo :>

THE AXE GAMES by Team BluCookie 2014-12-10T12:49:00

Reminds me of the old racing games. The gameplay didn't take the theme so serious therefor the maincharacter :))
Female character +1

Guns & Bricks by tMalicet 2014-12-08T21:47:00

Funny game, feels good to play. Points i didnt read or overread so far: The music in the beginning is wonderful, why do you keep it exclusive for the menu? And it would be nice when the brick would be placed left or right of the robot depending in which direction he's looking. Just my 2 cents and now go and enjoy your little daughter. I could'nt sleep the first whole night cause she was breathing so silent :D

Arena Champion by DaRaziel 2014-12-10T12:56:00

Haha, that was funny and enjoyable! Also you got my fullest respect to build this from scratch. Kudos. And thank you for the tomatoes :D

You Are Lost by farwyler 2014-12-14T12:06:00

Very nice game, the atmosphere you got there is really catching and somehow authentic. the sound and the graphics matching well.
My only two criticpoints are: no connection to the theme and it's brutaly hard. i felt somehow blessed to find the thrid bonfire but couldn't make it to a fourth.

but anyway, quite a enriching result you got there!

Bubblebuddha by bubblebuddha 2014-12-09T08:50:00

Cool game, pretty hard. The random shots are quite a struggle to evade. The AI could use a push and maybe more evolution through with be nice too. The Graphics are awesome

EGOS by Mopz 2014-12-08T11:10:00

Wow, very polished game. It feels quite good, the sounds, graphics, controls harmonize a lot. Is there the possibility to actually win? Doesn't matter. Good job on that 48hours!

Get Bigger! by admix 2014-12-10T15:00:00

Oh yeah! We didn't get snow here yet but this definitly gave me a lot of fun and pleasant anticipation. It also is quite funny you can leave the screen when the whole setup wants to :D Made me laugh hard, thanks

Mountain Life by flouiz 2014-12-09T13:35:00

First of all i think it's no good requirement that the player has to download an additional software like the Powerpoint viewer in this case although i have to give kudos for using such a weird program to try to create a game of it. +1 for experimenting

Sadly as it seems PPV isn't a program you can create diverse games with. It felt like not having a real impact on the game which were resulting in less interest. It's more like a presentation, kind of like a movie.

But props for trying and finishing it. Good luck Sir!

Somewhere by RKS 2014-12-09T13:26:00

Avira gave me the warning your .exe is infected with "Dropper.GEN" .. better check this.

ROCKROCKET by Backterria 2014-12-10T09:24:00

cool, sometimes it felt a little long-winded but somehow the atmosphere brought me further. the graphics are really nice, i thought a blogpost of you when you played with different ways to generate graphic - it came out nice. also the whole setting is a charm. good job!

Patricia I by theFireman 2014-12-09T13:41:00

For all who struggled with getting the game started:
You can click on the little image on his itch.io to play (its actually the game).

Maybe it would be better to link to your itch.io site instead of your dropbox folder. Also if you could scale the game up would be nice too.

Props for the music and visuals. Really like this catchy tune and the gameboy-like graphics.

Patricia I by theFireman 2014-12-09T13:42:00

And why can't we vote on graphics and sound?! Activate so i can give you nice points ((:

FergusonTV by FergusonTV 2014-12-10T11:11:00

Interesting take on the theme, definitly. Also goodjob to go with relative actual political content, this can't be more published. But i feel a little sad on the view on the Ferguson problem - it doesn't account the original problem and only goes for the riots after it.
So i'm mixed with my feelings about this entry but give you a plus for courage on taking such a difficult theme.

RobFishing by xTacobaco 2014-12-08T21:58:00

Cool game, like the humor :D

Chewpi.net by Pol&Tyu 2014-12-09T17:55:00

It's a wonderful something but maybe not a "game". Maybe a good point to grab someone and talk about what a game is what not? I liked it a lot! thank you

Snow Box by omaha 2014-12-10T16:42:00

Quite challenging but not so fascinating. The controls are fine, the responsiveness too. Like the recoil implementation but i think it's not my type of a game. Good luck anyway!

Screencap'd by Avant-Marde 2014-12-09T13:19:00

cool game, the jumping physic was a bit annyoing and that if you were in contact with a brick to the left or right of you jumping acted weird to. But i like the setup a lot, the music were matching too.

/xbox controller didn't work for me just as info.

Cold Remembrance by GFM 2014-12-08T22:14:00

I enjoyed your game a lot after having to restart it because it didn't work anymore. A restart button would been nice

Iaido by shuanDang 2014-12-09T13:46:00

I agree on the said, the reset timer were annoying and also think this could be nice on touchscreen.
Cool, good luck!
