For all who struggled with getting the game started:
You can click on the little image on his itch.io to play (its actually the game).

Maybe it would be better to link to your itch.io site instead of your dropbox folder. Also if you could scale the game up would be nice too.

Props for the music and visuals. Really like this catchy tune and the gameboy-like graphics.

I really like this little game! Big fan of Game and Watch, so I loved the style. (:

thefireman 2014-12-09 14:41

I'm to stupid for this site :o Voting for music and visuals should be possible now :)

That aquarium has a lot of fish.

Delightfully weird, I loved the visuals and music/sound effects. This super low fi aesthetic is so appealing. Nice color palette. The actual gameplay is a bit monotonous but it's snuggled into such a great aesthetic.

I like the art style. I think it might feel more complete if the fish had discrete positions, but that could also be annoying?

Pretty cool.

I like this game quite a bit!
- Great graphics
- Catchy soundtrack
- Very interesting interpretation of the theme
- Humorous
- Very polished

I only wish that it got difficult a bit more quickly. Artistically this is my favourite game so far :D

thefireman 2014-12-10 08:34

Thanks for all the kind words :3 I tried to give the fish fixed positions, but it was to hard for me to realise, maybe i will make an updated version :)

I love the overall retro feel, and it would be dope to play this on a game and watch device. Love the graphics!

rico-albe 2014-12-10 15:29

I think the limited palette and game&watch inspired aesthetic was a good design idea, though I don't think it works all that great with the pixel art, as it is two different "grids" colliding with each other.

Gameplay was nice, but maybe there should be more than one fish at once.

good job!

One of the weirder ones, but very good game! Addictive music and very oldschool visual are one of the best from whole Ludum Dare. Check my game too: President's bodyguard simulator.

Fun little game! Thought gameplay was too basic for my tastes...

gana0 2014-12-10 16:49

I'm a sucker for Gameboy palettes and Game & Watch games, so I thought the graphics were great. The graphics of the people at the beginning/end with the music gave me an eerie feeling and I don't know why. I would have liked to see a replay/new game option at the end.

Ha ha ha! I love the premise! The way you framed the game with the mother's question, and Patricia's inevitable denial, is priceless. I enjoy game and watch style works, but I think you missed a key factor: lag. Adding a slight delay between keypress and response would make this more authentic.

esjaji 2014-12-10 22:23

I love the humour in the game, and I like how challenging it gets once the pace picks up. Great art style (Love the Tiger Handheld/Game And Watch look), and the music is pretty catchy, too! Excellent work.

alfadur 2014-12-12 05:06

Nice Game&Watch-like! The setting is quite unusual. :)
One thing I noticed is that either I'm extremely unlucky or the fish never goes to the rightmost cat.

carlmartus 2014-12-12 22:17

Love the sound track!

solifuge 2014-12-13 04:51

Ah, this entry is fun! I admire your devotion to the Game&Watch look and style, at the same time as changing the vertical stretch gives it a certain je-ne-sais-quoi--it looks a bit like a framed digital painting, in a certain light. Great active poses on all of your art, BTW.

Thank you for the game!

I love the throwback to old school gaming. Then you combined that with a smart narrative, making this pretty golden.
