TINY LIZARD SWELL WORLD by racarate 2012-04-27T00:04:00
I "played" the game, in that I tried to do something to interact with it, but nothing happened. I tried several times with the same result. Not sure what I was supposed to be doing.

Sorry, don't have a mac handy, so I can't play.
I loved the idea of a gnome running around throwing lawn darts at things. I never figured out what the gas cans did.
I tried several times to play, but it was unclear how to defend the planets. Things moved so fast and the game ended in a few seconds each time. I suspect there is a timing issue.
looked like minicraft. I got overwhelmed by zombies before I could do much of anything. They seemed to know where I was and run straight to me, no matter how far away they were.
I'm actually surprised I got this much done over the weekend. I wish I had time to add sounds, and some death animations. I was able to resolve the delays by changing the HTML to cache the .jar file.
Controls were difficult to get used to. The theme fit well. I couldn't figure combat out, but the beetles kept on dying.
I seem to be stuck inside something. I can only turn around and I see boxes "ringed" around me. Not sure what's going on.
That was awesome! I loved the kitten reference. The ending rocked!
I downloaded the game to play, and Symantec deleted it as a virus.
It was difficult to tell what was going on.
Great game!
Seems that you can keep saving the same person over and over until you win. Adding some gravity physics would be nice, so that you speed up as you fall, and perhaps speed up the longer you use the jetpack.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what is going on with this game. All I could figure out is to click on the clouds. It looked interesting, but some instructions would have helped.
I'm not sure the end game fit, but I liked the trial-and-error puzzle style. Good job!
It seemed too hard to for me. I couldn't keep the others alive. I did like the way they all shot at the same time.
I'm not a fan of impossibly hard platformers. I couldn't make it to the second ladder.
Tried running the game, but Norton indicated it was a "security risk".
Overall a good game. Obviously some tuning would improve it, such as adding some texture to the blocks. Also, there didn't seem to be any penalty from falling too far. I enjoyed it, good game!
What' a strange concept. The only feedback I have is that the jumping was disorienting. I expected to jump forward the direction the truck was facing, not "up".
Game didn't work well. I could only move a tiny bit.
Interesting game, but it took WAY too long for the cars to meet.
Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, I really appreciate it. This is my third entry, and I'm very pleased with the way this one turned out.
The red blocks, when hit from the top or bottom, throw you the opposite direction that you are moving. If hit from the side it bounces you back and up.
They were intentionally "strange" as it is something you are supposed to figure out through experimentation.
I definitely agree that the talisman controls are a bit complicated. I have a few levels I created, but I didn't get to polish them before submitting.
Interesting take on the theme.
The dialog was a bit vulgar for the competition. I could see some folks being offended.
Great game! It took me a few screens to figure out the controls, but that was part of the fun. I like what you did with the art. It would have been nice to see some of the boxes drawn on the screen fill in with color randomly. But that's just an aesthetic I'd like to see. It certainly has nothing to do with gameplay.
I loved the transition between the score room and the arena. I don't understand what it takes to get a win.
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this game!
Can't launch the game, it is missing MSVCR110.dll
It was tough to understand what was going on with this game. I played one game where the screen cleared completely before I even moved the square/circle avatar.
As for the sound, did you validate that your sound files were in the .jar file? I used Slick2D for my game, and Eclipse did NOT bundle the resource files into the .jar. I had to use 7zip to add them manually.
Won't run for me. Gives a generic "LD26 has stopped working" message.
Wouldn't run. I just got a window saying Ludum Dare 26.exe has stopped working.
No windows/web port :(
I LOVED the art! The controls were a bit lacking. The 'A' key didn't do anything, so I had to use the arrows.
I really liked this game. The ball is a bit too controllable. Perhaps making the controls a bit more "wild", like not so steerable while in the air, or maybe reflect off of objects at the angle you hit it.
Pretty good game. The tutorial screen changed before I was done reading the controls.
Collision detection never quite seemed to be in line with the actual environment. Sometimes it was way off, sometimes it was OK.
I really like the player animations.
I trued to play, but Symantec flagged the file as a threat. Is suspect it was because it was hosted on mediafire.
Thanks for making a web game! It felt a bit awkward having the cannon so far away from the thing it was defending, but it did make the game different from the typical Space Invaders clone. Slowing down the rate of fire would probably be a good tweak. It seemed like you could just spam the space bar to handle just about anything.
Nice simple game. I would have been nice if the upgrade menu paused the game. The artistic style was very nice.
I can't compile it :(
Good game. The controls were awkward. The ball moved while trying to place blocks. Perhaps W-A-D or Arrow keys to move the ball would have been a bit more natural.
I agree with the comments on the controls. Why do the enemy attacks go through walls? Why can't I attack, I obviously have a sword.
Interesting game. Very difficult, at least for me.
Mediafire didn't like me. It just kept giving an error "There is a problem with your download"
The only suggestion I have is to have some sort of sword strength indicator. It seemed that sometimes I could kill 3 enemies per sword, sometimes more.
Way too much going on with controlling both ships. It felt like an overly complicated asteroids.
I liked the audio.
No Mac. I can't play this game.
Not sure I understood the controls. The game really felt like it was completely random. The music and graphics were good and really fit the theme.
It took way too long for me to figure out that control was to fire. Space or up arrow might have been a better chance, maybe even all three?
As a suggestion, perhaps the hitboxes on the enemies are too big. It seemed like I could sit in one place and spam fire and survive indefinitely.
I really liked the way the colors changed and the player seemed to get more black, as the enemies go more white. Like you were becoming more evil as you killed more.
I couldn't get it to run
I like this game. It really fits the theme well. One suggestion I would offer is that you give a grace period after taking damage, or have knockback effect to get you out of the red square. Once it gets crazy, it was hard to see which red square I was in.
Good first entry! They get easier as you practice.
I think you might increase the "gravity force" to bring the guy down faster. I found I was constantly over jumping the platforms. Also, I'm not sure if you intended to have a "double jump" but it worked out that it did.
This definitely fit the theme. The mechanic has potential.
I loved the guy eating pasta!
Divitos, That is on purpose. You actually have no control while in the air, as you can't apply force to move right or left. The controls are based loosely on physics. The ground has friction, and you apply force (really just acceleration) based on that friction. Same for jumping and falling. There is force (acceleration again) of gravity and jumping force that counteract each other.
My only compliant is that it doesn't end right when the balls are all gone. You have to wait for the blocks to get you.
I agree with Absor. TANK RUSH!
I liked the game. I didn't understand which of the little dots I was supposed to hit and which I was supposed to avoid.
I liked the concept, but it was a bit short. I liked the camera controls with the mouse. Very smooth.
I couldn't make it past the mantis. I didn't really understand what was going on, especially at the beginning.
The controls were a bit sketchy. The character kept getting stuck for no apparent reason.
Fun game, I enjoyed it. Seemed a bit unfair that you died from a single hit.
I like it. It was fun! The jump function was a bit sketchy though.
Interesting concept. I like the king!
Controls were challenging. you needed three hands to play, one for mouse, one for arrows, one for A-S-Space.
I love the power ups. "Jump Boost" shot me right off the screen and I died! Fun game!
I liked the controls. The little square was fluid and easy to maneuver.
Fun game. I liked the controls, especially the ice mechanics.
It took too long to break things, and movement was too slow. it does seem ambitious for an LD, but you made a good go of it. Good job.
The game started in the middle of my 1080 monitor and ended up stretching beyond the bottom, so I couldn't finish. There was no apparent way to move the window.
Wonderful music. Very interesting concept. It was fluid and fun. Good game.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong. The screen shakes, I hit space, and I'm flung off the screen instantly.
I died. A lot.
