Sorry. The game wouldn't run for me. I did like your idea of becoming a bit more resistance to the type of thing that killed you, though. Shame I couldn't play it.
Whenever I bred a new goat it gave it a weight of 0 kilograms. Darn that Frank - I'll beat him one day! :-)
I liked the abstract style of the creatures. They were quirky. I couldn't work out how I could influence the outcome of the game though.
I think this is a really great idea and love the way the graphics and game play develops as you progress through it. I did get stuck on the screen with just a few bricks in the middle (16 bit I think!) - if I moved off it, it took me back to the other side of the screen.
Thanks all for the feedback. I guess I was trying to be a bit abstract about it. I did originally have totals for things like kindness, agressiveness, happiness, sociability... on the screen that would change if you ran over the relative icons on the map. + & - signs affect how the totals change. eg. run over a + sign and then a smiley face you get more happiness points; run over a - and then a heart you lose kindness points. I also made your character's health start at 100. If you hit the rock you lose health points. At the end of the game if your health is below 0 it means your species didn't survive. However, if your species does survive, at the end of the game you're given a summary based on the scores. eg. It looks like I created a caring... sourfaced... aggresive species... etc. I did have sounds effects in there if your collected things, but they were probably masked by the music. I'm already working on improving it (especially the graphics) and tweaking it all, so your feedback's appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks again for all the feedback. I realise now I should have really kept the health and other indicators in there.
@kevincorrigan - There were a couple more after the third circle. I'm still trying to work out why that happens. It's happened to me too once as well, but it's so intermittent that I'm having trouble ironing out that bug. Thanks for spotting it though.
@quasist - I really like the idea of a midi controller. Not sure I can do that using Scratch, but I definitely need to work out the best way of controlling the game.
Thanks all for the feedback. I know where to go from here. Lack of feedback in the game was a big boo-boo on my part. Crazy really, as I did have have feedback at the start and decided it might work better without it. I'm pleased I got more than 2 out of 5 overall after playing some of the other games in the competition. Thanks for everyone who rated my game. :-)
Really liked the idea and graphics style. I couldn't work out how to use all the combos though. It was fun seeing what the result was at the end of the game.
Unfortunately I couldn't run the game. It gave me these errors:

I really enjoyed playing this game and the variety in the first few levels. Nice ending too. I'd definitely come back and play more if you developed the story and added more levels. I think it would be nice if you could update some of the graphics too. Another suggestion I have is to make the text on the screen more prominent - maybe make it a bit bigger and put it in the centre of the screen. Sometimes I wasn't aware of it when it changed. Nice work.
Unfortunately I couldn't play it. It gave me an error message: "Could not create canvas."
Nice idea and fun too. Really liked the graphic style you used.
Unfortunately I can't run it either. I have the same problem with MSVCP100D.dll missing.
Really liked the monochrome graphics style and idea of transformation. I found it difficult to transform before navigating the obstacles though.
I liked the art style and moody music and it was fun just exploring that huge map. I managed to collect a few things I think - they were green blobs, but wasn't sure what else to do. Did I just need to keep running?
Love it! :-D Great idea and funny too.
Unfortunately I couldn't run it. It says it's not a valid Win32 application.
That's definitely a frustrating but fun "just one more go" type of game. Thought the graphics were well done and the fact that your character changes was a clever/nice touch.
I got the tophat! :-) I enjoyed the game. I'm just thinking that it might be better if it didn't speed up so much towards the end, so that it still feels as if you really need to escape the other creature rather than totally outpace it.
I liked the luminous graphic style you used and the idea of the game and the fact that the coloured creatures you were supposed to eat ran away from you when you got close. However, it seemed as if you could lose pretty quickly if none of the colour you were supposed to eat appeared.
That was one of those "Frustrating, but I know I can win, and I won't stop trying until I do!" games. :-) Enjoyed it, especially as the sound effects for some reason reminded me of Frankie Howerd and Kenneth Williams from the Carry On films. Loved the comments that the creatures made too.
That must have been frustrating! I downloaded the Android game and just seemed to fall for a long time after going up the steps either side and dropping off. I liked the idea of another chacater evolving though, based on what your character does.
I really like the pixel style graphics with a modern twist to them. I realised I had to shoot the cells, but wasn't sure what my main goal was or how well I was doing.
I got the game to run, but I couldn't figure out how to drain the power from other objects. I've got to say I really liked the graphics style and ambient sound, even though I didn't know how to control the game.
I really like the graphics style in this.
I liked the simple choices in the game and it was fun to see how your choices affected the Mincertrons. Nice graphic style too.
Really like this game. Nice touch with the "breeding" animation. :-)
Really liked those luminous graphics and the game idea, but I wasn't sure how well I was doing, or if I was doing it right. I managed to get to level 3 though. :-)
I liked the graphics. It's nice to see someone else using Scratch too. :-)
I love the idea that you've used Pac-man in this & the graphics are great, but I had trouble working out how to change the parameters. Also when I moved the mini map around it erased the information in the bottom of the screen.
Cute & fun game. I liked the different skills the crystals gave you.
Really cute/polished graphics and fun to play too. I like the way it got frantic quite quickly and that I had to be less trigger happy if I wanted to keep the women alive.
That was crazy fast! I couldn't last much longer than about 10 seconds. A bit slower would have made it more fun for me.
I wasn't a fan of the original Asteroids, but I liked this version and the twist you put on it. Really liked the minimal vector style graphics and those worms really creeped me out for some reason - especially when I move to a new area of the map to find a load more of them just waiting to pounce.
That was fun. :-) Nice control system. I like the ending too. Never listen to an green monster, I say!
Simple but clever idea. I've got admit I found the invisible idea a bit frustrating too, but understand that it's important/central to the whole game. Maybe the odd flash that shows where you are would help - sort of like 1 second of fame. ;-)
I'd love to see this turned into a proper game. It was fun just messing around with what you'd put together anyway.
I'd like to see the idea developed more. I wanted to play it for longer. I think it would be good if you kept that style of hand drawn graphics too, but maybe make them a bit more polished.
This is a really nice idea. I enjoyed the calmness of it too. I also liked the way some of the birds seemed to know you were taking their photo and posed for you. :-D
I liked the concept. Enjoyed playing the Android version on my phone - I couldn't access all of the movement controls though, but I still managed to get quite a good score anyway at one point. I really liked the vector style graphics. I couldn't get the web version to run.
I really liked the graphics and how you encouraged people into the game even without much instruction. The visual clues worked well.
Loved the humour and voice overs - the game was fun too. Not sure I could ever get 700 though. My best score of 43 seems a long way off that!
This was fun to play. I liked the graphic style and the moody music and the controls were easy to use.
Really like that graphic style and the humourous little comments the creatures make as they wander around.
I managed to create a couple of bacteria, but don't know how I managed it. I agree that hints would have been useful.
Nice game idea. Really liked the graphic style and the music went well with the game play too. It got a bit laggy as the screen filled up with amoebas, though.
Fun game. I liked the idea that you could choose your powers too. Shame it was so short, though.
I really liked the idea of being able to change skills as you go along. Trying to remember what they all did was a bit tricky for me though once I got to the later stage, after the training ones.
Nice idea. I really enjoyed playing it. I liked the incidental touches to the game too, such as the voice and the slight jiggle and zoom in/out of the DNA bars.
Nice graphic style. I really enjoyed playing it.
Really cute game. Nice work. :-)
What an original idea. :-)
That was daft, but good fun. Nice idea. :-)
Thanks for all the feedback. I plan to update this into a finished game following on from your comments. I suppose in the end I got the basic ideas in there but it needs tidying up and tweaking a lot. I know what I was aiming for, but I didn't give myself much time with 8 hours. Unfortunately I was sober - you should see the stuff I come up with when I'm not. :-)
It's not unplayable at all. I had fun playing it. I like the 8-bit style graphics too.
Unfortunately I couldn't play it. It gave me the message "mevil.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
I like'd it. It was straight forward, but effective. The graphics were cute too. I couldn't see anywhere that showed me my score though.
I really liked the hand drawn graphics. Easy to play too. :-)
Unfortunately I couldn't play this, as my computer gave me a message - "No suitable graphic card found." So, it's probably my clunky old PC at fault!
I liked the hand drawn graphics, the music and I get where you're coming from with the clown & the rabbits. It lagged a bit on my PC when I had a lot of rabbits, shots and a couple of clowns on the screen, but then again it's a clunky old PC unfortunately. Nice take on the Tower defence theme.
Unfortunately I couldn't play this game - I was just given a series of black and white boxes where I assume the game graphics should have been.
I found it difficult to move the character - sometimes it just seemed to moonwalk even though I was pressing the key, and then all of a sudden it would zoom off.
Ha! Great idea and those graphics are great. I found it tricky to get the souls though, but it was fun trying.
That was a fun and frantic game. :-) Really liked the idea of controlling the minions. I thought it worked played really well.
Chaotic and fun. :-)
I enjoyed it, but did get stuck... but that's what always happened with me and text adventures! :-/
Great visual style and I really liked the way the screen wobbled. Loved the humour too - I'm just wondering which MP you had in mind? :-)
That was a nice bit of mayhem - I wasn't sure how to control the length of the monster's sliding though.
This is great. It took me some time to work out exactly what I was supposed to do, but when I did I found it fun. So quirky and abstract. Nice ambient sounds too. :-)
Nice to see a game written using Processing. The lighting effects looked really quirky, in a good way. It reminded me of Missile Command, but I preferred this to Missile Command. Nice work.
I thought that was a simple, but really clever idea. Nice one.
I thought the way you managed to get across the story and provide a variety of options and endings with such a limited amount of interaction was really clever.
Interesting idea, but I couldn't always see why I chose the right piece! Were the number of turns meant to reduce? It just kept changing between 1 & 0.
Thanks for the positive feedback everybody. :-) I plan to develop the idea & include a hint of which direction the 1st object will move in before you click.
Norritt42. You have to choose which object to click next to that will start the chain reaction. On the first screen if you click just below the triangle that will start of the chain reaction to destroy all of the other objects except the "No".
I'm thinking I'll remake this game from the ground up some time. And I'll definitely take on board the physics and interaction with different objects ideas. Thanks all.
I really liked the monochrome graphics & a nice ending too. :-)
There's nothing wrong with your English. :-) I quite liked the idea of controlling the moves in this way, but would have liked more of a challenge, which is what I think you were hoping to achieve too with more time. The visual audio cues made me smile. "Tinkle!" :-)
Cute character. :-)
That was intriguing. I thought it was a decent piece of storytelling and engaging too. Nice work.
I liked the abstract style of the graphics. Nice to play an Android game in this competition too. Was there any way of finishing the game or do you just play forever?
That was a cross between frustration and fun. :-) I kept going to see what would happen, but nothing did. It did make me smile though and it was stangely addictive. Maybe the messages should have been bigger, but then again having them quite small and subtle was part of it. You definitely made a minimalist game. :-)
That was strange... in a good and funny way. :-) Not sure if I would achieve anything if I kept going for long enough. Poor fish getting battered!!! I really liked the animation of the arm - it was very realistically floppy! The whole thing made me laugh.
That was daft but fun. :-) The gun direction was a bit tricky to get used to though.
I struggled with the controls, but thought this was a great/unique idea. I really liked the graphic style too.
I couldn't get this to run. I double clicked on the application and it doesn't open anything up.
I thought it was a really clever idea to control both the volcano and the player using the same keys. I liked the minimal style too - overall it fitted in with the theme and was fun, but tricky too.
I couldn't get it to do anything after it loaded up the start screen.
Nice and simple, but looks great. It is definitely a "just one more go" type of game.
Really liked the simplicity of this. It was fun too. :-)
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I agree the stages are a bit long. I really should have worked on the ratio of up/down arrows and speed and the opponent AI, but I ran out of time. I'm going to work on it again over the weekend and hopefully come up with an improved version that freezes less too (I think that was caused by my needlessly generating lots of arrow clones.
I couldn't play the web version. It gave me this error message.

I wasn't 100% sure about what I was doing and how to move onto the different type of stages, but it was still fun.
Great idea. Taught me a bit about brewing too. :-)
I could only grab the slugs some of the time, but I thought it was a good/innovative idea for a game.
I liked the simple graphic style in this. I'm not sure any of my shots affected any of the other delivery men though.
I enjoyed playing that. Straightforward and fun. :-)
Crazy idea and fun too. Loved it. Nice one.
Nice game. I liked the way you interpreted the theme and the dragon is a great little character too. :-)
I couldn't get very far with this. Every time I moved it went to the screen to buy extra skills/powers/health, but no matter what I bought I could only move for about a second.
I liked the idea behind this, but it was way too fast for me to even read what was on the screen.
That was very hypnotic. I liked the way you used the theme. Maybe there could have been more variation earlier on though.
That was frustrating. I couldn't get past stage 2. But I liked the simple graphic style you used and the way the balls spiralled out looked great... and then I died! :-D
I found it difficult to work out whether I was helping or not. However it was good to see someone trying to do something different in the competition, however (understandably) bleak it might have been.
That was disturbing, but also fantastic in it's own warped way. I couldn't finish it though... too full. ;-) Seriously though, I just ended up going round in a loop not knowing which way to go. I think my brain was too frazzled from it.
That was off-the-wall, and I thought it was great. :-)
Nice idea and I agree about the great lighting effect. I couldn't get past the first screen though. I'm just tooooo slow. :-)
This made me chuckle. The graphics were great too.
Nice idea. The music worked really well with this and added a bit of menace to the game. I liked the way you used Brainzzz as a timer too. :-)
Nice to see another Scratch entry. :-) I understood how to play it, but wasn't very good at it. Interesting game play mechanism though.
As a piece of micro-storytelling I thought it was interesting and atmospheric, especially the changing comments at the end and I liked the graphics, but as game it might have worked better with a series of 10 second scenes that you piece together... although I'm not sure that would have been your intention.
Great looking game and I loved the way you worked in the theme, but kept the momentum going. It was really good fun to play.
Unfortunately I couldn't run this game. It gave me an error message: NoClassDefFoundError. kuusisto/tinysound/Sound
Cute game. Really liked the graphics and audio and I just enjoyed exploring the world you created. Nice work.
Phew! 2 positive comments to start the competition judging off with. Thanks a heap. :-)
Apologies about the difficulty level. I always find it tricky to gauge the difficulty levels, especially as Scratch sometimes plays programs at different speeds on different systems.
Re. Jeff Minter - I didn't intend it being like that, but I do really like his off-the-wall take on things. So, I really appreciate that comment.
That was such a cute & laid back game. I really enjoyed it all. Well done.
For some reason I couldn't get the weapons to shoot when I was using the WSAD controls - is it only the number keys on the number pad that will work with the WSAD keys?
Really liked the graphic style and the map seemed very large and detailed.
That was fun. Definitely something I'd love to see you expand into a bigger game. Nice one.
I really liked the combination of innovation and straightforwardness of your game. Good fun. :-)
The elastic bullet idea was great! :-) And using it as a slingshot added an extra nice touch to the game. I couldn't defeat the magnetic crab boss though!
Great game. I liked the retro styling and the little touches made it a very polished entry.
Your IF games always make me think, and I thought the animations were a nice touch too. I enjoyed it.
I really liked the co-op aspects of this to solve the puzzles and also how you used the theme too.
When the timer reached zero the game just kept going and I couldn't see how I ranked with others. Good fun though. :-)
Unfortunately I had problems with the controls - I only managed to get onto the 2nd step after trying for ages.
Funny take on the theme - I wonder if this game will inspire them to bring Firefly back?
Cute game. And it's nice to see a Scratch game on here. :-)
That was quirky & original. I liked it. :-)
That was really tricky, but good fun too. :-)
Really liked this innovative twist on breakout, the simple but stylish graphics and the music.
I thought that was a very original idea - straightforward, but fun too. Nice one.
Really liked the graphic style and idea behind this game. Interesting to see another game creation tool too - I must check it out.
Really nice game. Great graphics and audio & well-polished. Nice work.
Simple, effective and the audio really worked. So sad too.
I've played a few digging/mining games in this compo, but yours had a really unique twist to it. The graphics were great as well. Nice one. :-)
Cute, frustrating, disturbing and fun.
Cute, frustrating, disturbing and fun.
I really enjoyed playing this and the ascii graphic style worked well. The only suggestion I have is that maybe the battle/fight spaces could have been varied.
Nice puzzler - some original ideas there. Cute graphics too.
I thought this was an interesting narrative idea. I liked the way the text position reflected the words. Having an extra option to click on in different places would have made it more of a game.
Sorry Dan & mrexcessive - I blame it on tiredness. I've put the link to the Windows executable file now in the entry.
Thanks for the comment Paperblurt - I've got ideas to improve it after the competition.
Thanks for all the positive comments and feedback everyone, everyone. :-) I'm taking them on board for an updated version of the game.
Thanks to KevinWorkman & his SVGExe I now have a self-extracting Java version that everyone can run regardless of system. :-) Phew!
Thanks for the inclusion Jupiter_Hadley. Nice to see someone else playing it and their reactions - it'll help when I'm updating it.
VictoryGarden, I agree - I should have spent more time making the wavy text subtler. I'll also give the game you linked to a go. It looks interesting.
... and thanks to all of the further positive comments everyone has taken the time to post. It makes me feel as if I was heading in the right direction with this game. :-)
Nice graphics and music and very atmospheric too.
I thought the 3D idea and wavy graphics were a great touch. The music worked well with it too. Almost got back to the ship too, but not quite.
I thought that was a nice visual reworking of the original & I love the music.
Straightforward, but effective & with a nice progression too. That last platform was tricksy! :-)
I liked the way you had to focus on controlling two different things in this game - the drill & the other characters.
That was unique. :-D
Really liked the art and the music was atmospheric too. Poor Dany!
Cute graphics. :-)
Nice game. It has a Jaws appeal to it as well - I don't think I'll be going into the sea for a while. :-)
Hi. I tried to run it a couple of times in Chrome, but couldn't. It gave me these errors.
Failed to acquire 3D RenderingContext
Exception: An error occurred linking the shaders:
This is great. Looks, play & sound. Nice work. :-)
Both links to Dropbox said the file wasn't there.
I liked the contrast between the Strawberry world and underground. Cute graphics. Like others have said I found the movement controls a bit tricky too.
That was really tricky, but fun. I'd not heard of Puzzlescript before - it looks interesting.
That was so well done. Disturbing, thoughtful and funny in a black-humoured way. Really nice work.
Wow! That was crazy & surreal. Almost as if Terry Gilliam had made a Spiderman film with a hotdog! :-D Brilliant.
Great game. So mellow and great graphics. One of my faves so far. I normally don't go for puzzlers, but really enjoyed this. :-)
Wow! The first game by yourself. Great stuff. The graphics are fantastic and it's funny too. Nice work.
Do the Timmy shoulder shuffle! :-D Loved that animation and a fun little game too. :-)
Hi. Unfortunately I couldn't open the Android version. It gave me the message "There is a problem parsing the package".
Really nice graphics & I liked the twist of the falling water level. Nice one.
There were some nice innovative features in this and I liked the monochromatic graphics too.
Very atmospheric and nice looking. Good job.
That was great fun. I'd love to see it developed further. :-)
I thought the sustained momentum was a really clever idea.
I thought that was a really original idea, simple to get to grips with and fun too.
You know what, I just had great fun rolling and bouncing and zooming along on my head and your game made me smile. :-)
Clever idea. I wasn't very good at this game, but I still enjoyed it. :-) Good back story too about why the robots get destroyed.
I really liked the style of your graphics. I found the controls difficult to get to grips with though.
That was crazy fun. Super crevette spray! :-)
When I played this it turned into synchronised whale dancing! :-D It was good fun though and an original idea.
I really liked the graphic effects and the hidden images. It was very relaxing too.
Very nice graphics & clever movement system.
Thanks for the constructive comments so far - all appreciated. :-) They'll all help me to improve it. Re The windows jar file not loading, I had that problem when I tried to run it from a Dropbox folder on my PC, but everywhere else it's fine.
Forgot to say I guess my floating sleeping heads weren't that obvious. :-D although I like the idea of including floating suitcases in some way now... not sure how though.
Wow! What a great rainbow coloured shooter twist on the theme.
Really nice puzzle idea - I didn't get very far through it though. I just couldn't work out how to get some into the right orbit.
Loved the graphics and the humour. It made me smile. :-)
Really liked the idea of this. Well done.
It made a nice change to play a text adventure. Nice effort.
Nice work. Smart use of different coloured text too.
Really enjoyed the story - very absorbing & some funny moments too.
I tried not to die, but it was very difficult. :-D Nice/clever idea though.
Great puzzle idea & challenging too.
Really liked the music. Having such a narrow vertical view made it difficult to collect the mystery boxes. ie they appeared and I didn't have much time to stop and pick them up.
Great idea and well presented. The graphics and audio were a very nice touch.
Nice puzzler - it took me some time to work out what to do though. It would have been useful to have some indication of how well I was doing - I didn't know if I was making enough progress. Really liked the hand drawn graphics and the music.
That was a great entry - funny and a clever idea.
I don't normally go for puzzle games, but I enjoyed yours. Nice work. Was there a Start again button? I got stuck on one of the later puzzles and couldn't see how to restart it without going back to the beginning.
It would have been useful to have feedback on how well I was doing through the game. I liked the comment about the 3D graphics. :-D
I enjoyed that. It was quirky. :-)
It made me smile. :-)
It's great to see a Pocket Code game in this competition. :-) Nice artwork in your entry and I liked the way you used tilting to control it. PS. To get a screenshot onto the Pocket Code site run your program in Pocket Code, press the back arrow and then press Screenshot.
Nice graphics, idea and generated tunes. I'd really like to see this idea developed. Getting a direct hit on a fighter was particularly satisfying. :-)
Thanks for all the feedback. I chose X just out of habit, from when I used to play games on the old home computers back in the day. It looks like it wasn't a good choice though. I wouldn't say the shooting was pointless - it's another option against the barrage of holly, crackers and gold rings if you can't avoid them. Thanks for the useful tips dalbinblue - my most recent games were controlled via the mouse, so I haven't got to grips with the best way to check the keyboard. I'll give it a go. After playing it a bit for myself, I can see the comments are fair. I didn't really have time to road test it fully. Cheers all. :-)
Rabbit & Luke Molnar - I had problems in the past running some Java programs. In Windows I solved it like this, but i'm not sure what the equivalent is for a Mac, Luke> http://compinfopro.com/java-is-not-recognized-as-an-internal-or-external-command-operable-program-or-batch-file/
I've updated the game now, so that you don't get stuck in the wall and the key input is better now.
Thanks for the comment Nikteddy92. :-)
Really liked this idea.
Sweet. :-)
Wow! That was strange & original. I'm not sure how I could control it, but I liked where you were going with it.
That was original. I really like your art style, the audio and the variations in each new story.
What a simple, but great idea. Very atmospheric as well.
I really liked this. It was simple and a nice twist on Tetris. It was very tricky though.
Some good puns in there. :-)
Thanks everyone for the positive feedback so far. :-) It's encouraging me to develop the idea further. Thanks for the feedback about the sound effects & music Catwheel - I'll work on sorting that out.
Fun idea and well polished too. :-)
That was original. :-) Clever idea. I really liked the graphic style too.
I got the message you were trying to put across - nice work, especially with the secret ending.
Nice graphics and music and an interesting twist on shoot em ups.
Good silly fun. :-)
7:21 in 306 clicks. That was fun. :-)
Very effective storytelling, including the use of minimalist graphics and sound. Nice work again.
What a great game. Loved the graphics, the time-slowing idea and fun to play too. Nice work.
Such as simple, but clever weapon design. It was fun playing it.
Great art and mood. Very chilled out game. Nice one.
The ending I reached made me laugh. Nice twist.
I still haven't got to the end, but I really liked this entry. Something different, with nice art style and music.
Nicely random. :-D
Fun game, nice retro graphic style and music, but I wish I had more than 1 life, as I could only get so far.
I really liked the unique/original idea of this game, and the cat vomiting sound. :-D
Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. :-) I was in two minds about including the music, and I understand that some people might not enjoy it, but in the end I thought it was worth trying it out to see how it worked with the text.
Thanks again everyone for giving my game a go and taking the time to feedback on it. :-) I have to admit at points in the narrative I wasn't sure where to go and ended up doubling back. In future games hopefully this shouldn't be a problem, as I'll have more time to work out varied paths.
I really liked the graphics and the idea behind it. I'd love to see it expanded into a bigger game.
I thought this was a clever idea. Nicely put together too, including the hazy effect for the main character.
Great looking game and fun too. :-D
Great looking game and I loved the idea behind it. :-) Nice work.
That was fun and funny. Great graphics. :-)
I found this quite tricky to play, but really liked it. Simple idea and fun. I really liked the graphics too.
That was fun. Simple, effective and funny. :-)
That was the strangest game I've played in this Ludum Dare jam. Tim Burton or David Cronenberg should turn it into a film. I liked the originality. Nice work.
I get a 404 error when I try to download the Android version.
Wow! That was the scariest combover I have ever seen. :-O Clever idea and well put together.
Unfortunately I couldn't run the Android version on my phone. It gave me a message saying it had trouble parsing the file.
Fun game and those voice overs were great. :-D
That was fun. :-)
Clever idea, fun too and great graphics. :-)
I really enjoyed this scrolling shooter - chaotic and fun. Nice graphics.
Great looking game and audio and clever control system.
The storytelling, hand drawn images and sound effects/music were great. :-)
Thanks all for trying it out & giving feedback already.
nucleartide - unfortunately it's Android only. Sorry.
timeshapers - I agree about the turn, but Pocket Code (which it was originally created in) doesn't have that capability in the code. I'm also updating the game so the score area isn't also part of the play area.
SirJavaGaming - What I should have said in my entry blurb is that because it was compiled as an Android app using Pocket Code I can't access the AndroidManifest.xml. Hopefully the Pocket Code developers will change this in future.
I really appreciate you all playing, voting and giving feedback on the game. I wasn't sure how well it would go down and I appreciate that not everyone has an Android - I was partly wanting to add to the number of Android games LDJam participants could play by putting in this entry. I'm taking on board all the feedback and changing the game where I can. The implementing of some of the ideas come down to Pocket Code itself and the way the system works, so I'll be feeding them back to the developers. Thanks again. :-)
I liked the back story to this, and it's a tricky little game. :-)
That was quirky and creepy. Nice art too.
Really nice quirky shoot em up - great graphics. :-)
Loved this idea and it looks great too. Nice work. :-)
Simple idea, but fun. I kept having to go back for another attempt. :-)
Nice idea & a sweet game. :-)
A simple idea done well. Fun graphics too. Nice work.:-)
That was tricky, but fun. Nice to see an innovative shooter.
Thanks everyone for the positive feedback.
Thanks for letting me know about the scrolling on Game Jolt, pythong. I've discovered that if I set Chrome to view the page at over 100% it has this problem, which is annoying.
Ferraware, I should have done the timer so it counts up, rather than down - it's good that you made sure your burger was properly cooked though. ;-)
Thanks for the comment about the music, monkeybit29. I wasn't sure players would be into it, so I also included the ability to turn it off in the game via the player console.
Thanks everyone who voted on my game. I'm happy with the results, especially for the humor category .... joint 38th! :-)
That was a fun idea. :-) I liked the graphics too.
Great to see a Spectrum game in Ludum Dare. :-) Fun & tricky game too. Nice work.
Nice work. I enjoyed your writing style and humour. There were plenty of choices too that made me feel like I had control over the end result.
Wow! That was original, unexpected & I really enjoyed it. :-)
I enjoyed playing this. Nice level design and I loved the vibrant colours.
Clever idea & good fun too. I liked the art style as well. :-) Nice work.
Great great. Enjoyed the puzzle and speed combination. Really cool music too.
Great art style. I ended up getting Katie rabid in time with the beat. :-) Good fun.
Fun idea & challenging. I agree with Gamepopper about maybe starting with shorter words & increasing the difficulty/word length as the game goes on.
I liked the clever game mechanic, and the graphics looked great. Nice work.
Nice entry. I thought it was an interesting & innovative way of developing the story.
That's one of the most original and funny puzzle games I've ever played.
That was fun. It might have been good to animate the enemies a bit more, but on the whole I enjoyed and liked the art style. Nice work.
I loved the humour in this fun piece of interactive fiction. Made me laugh out loud on the train. Nice work. :)
Fun game. I liked the randomness of the idea. :) That music was hypnotic.
What a fantastically random shoot em up idea & so well executed. This is one of my faves. :)
I enjoyed the cute graphics & tricky puzzles. Nice work.
That was fun. I liked spending time with your angry bean. :)
Nice looking game and easy to get to grips with. I had the same problems with the space bar causing the page to scroll.
Thanks for all the positive comments & helpful feedback everyone. I started out with a bigger idea & then broke it down to the basics. I'm planning on doing something more with this & include the feedback you've given. :)
Thanks all. :) I struggled with ideas on how to direct players through the route without making it easy. I'm going to expand on this original idea, as I've worked out how to do this now.
I have to say I admire your unwillingness to tell people how to start the game. :D But it did mean I couldn't play it.
This looks so good, especially the star field that keeps you in. And those synths are fantastic. :) It was a fun game to get to grips with.
Nice to see another Bitsy in here. :) I really like how you twisted it round at the end.
That was tricky. I liked the straightforward idea though. The pixel graphics were fun. :)
Loved this idea. Fits perfectly with the theme in a unique way. It's daft & fun. 😁
That was fun. So {wvy}maaaaaaaaaaaaany{wvy} robots. :) Beep Boop! Sound fx were great too.
Oh no! You made me do maths when I was supposed to be having fun. ;-) Actually, it was fun.... but my brain is so slow these days. Nice idea.
That looked great. Very stylish. I never made it to the end though! I'd love to know what happens then.
I liked it. It was a fun challenge & easy to get to grips with. :)
I really liked that original piece of mellow storytelling, and liked how you varied the control even with just the one key. Great art style too. :)
That was such a unique puzzle game. I really enjoyed the story you added to it.
I loved that this was a straightforward idea, but so difficult to master. Definitely had me saying "Just one more go. I've got to beat that score."
I really enjoyed that. A straightforward game that was fun. The 2 characters were cute too. :)
Great to see a Bitsy game on here. :) An original use of the game engine too. I still haven't been successful in getting past the really bad ending though.
This is such a cute paint game. Straightforward but lots of fun. :)
This is such a cute paint game. Straightforward but lots of fun. :)
Very cute graphics & an easy game to get to grips with. :)
This was an interesting puzzler. Cute graphics. Those poor pets!
Surreal Bitsy. Nice one. :)
Cute graphics & I liked the way you used the theme. :)
That was fun. I was wondering why I'd need to use cheese at first. :D Cute graphics.
I enjoyed the narrative & the art was very stylish.
A sweet piece of visual interactive storytelling. Really like the art style. Nice work. :)
Great to see another Bitsy in this jam. I enjoyed the narrative & the fun twist. :)
I liked the concept, but I didn't get very far, as I wasn't completely sure how things were affected by placing cards in different slots.
That was fun. I liked the zombie dogs. :)
That was a fun platformer. Some nice mechanics in there. I really liked the storyline you built around it.
I enjoyed this interactive Bitsy piece. Good to see a bit of social commentary in there too. I also ended up making a Bitsy about careers as well. :)
Thanks for playing through & the positive & useful feedback so far everyone. :) It's always good to have a different perspective on my games. The vanilla version of the Bitsy engine only allows you to do so much - so unfortunately I don't have control over the text box size and how it appears, although it would be nice to be able to change that. I hadn't considered the problem with the looping text, so I need to work out how to make it more obvious that different text passages have finished.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment and also for rating the game. I'm pleased with my result.:)
An interesting & unique piece of interactive fiction. The art worked well with it. Nice work.
I had a lot of fun playing this & doing a lot of mindless blasting. The graphics were fun & the audio gave it another level. Nice work. :)
Such a straightforward idea, but a lot of fun too. Nice one.
That was fun. Definitely a "Just one more go to beat my last score" game. :)
Cute graphics, & it was fun chucking the sheep. :)
I really liked the concept. It was fun to play, but maybe the falling boxes should have started off a bit slower.
Very atmospheric & a cool art style. I liked the subtle fire sound fx too. Nice work.
I loved the art work, & those huge characters watching over you! It was fun roaming around, but I didn't manage to survive very long.
I really enjoyed this. I liked the way you used the different font styles for different characters. The little narrator asides were fun too. Great to see you used Squiffy to create it as well. Nice work.
This was a lot of fun & I really liked the retro graphics.
I enjoyed the narrative. The music was very eerie, and it worked well with the text. I hit an error on the island (spoiler: the vial section) - The error was :
Error: <
I enjoyed this. It's so polished and an engaging idea. Great graphics, sound & gameplay.
Great art style & engaging storyline too. Very polished. :)
The art and music and great. I enjoyed this fun twist on a shoot em up. Nice work. :)
I thought this was pretty original and creepy. It worked really well. The quiet parts helped build the tension, and having the goals spelled out helped guide the player.
I really enjoyed this. I liked the humourous touches in the graphics (graphics and music really appealed). The game mechanics were easy to use and effective, and it's replayable. Nice work. :)
This was fun. Such a quirky idea. The movement mechanics were tricky to get to grips with, but also worked well once I'd worked it out. Great work. :)
This was fun. Great graphics and definitely a "I'll just have one more go" game. :)
That Atlantoid Plantoid creature is harsh! :D I liked the quirky feel to this - the graphics were fun & I loved the soundtrack. :)
Thanks for the positive feedback so far. :) The Watchers look in all 4 directions (up down left right), but can't see past any blocks in those directions. The key is to work out the route through the room, avoiding being in their direct line of sight.
Thanks again everyone for the useful & positive feedback and for playing the game. :)
Great to see another Bitsy in here. I enjoyed your storytelling, and liked your detailed pixel art style. :)
The art was great, and the music worked well with the game. The mechanics were clever and it was overall a fun puzzler. Nice work. :)
That was a lot of fun. It also took me some time to work out that the blocks were linked. It was definitely a "I'll just have one more go" addictive little game. :)
This was so well written. I like the humour and the way you put a relatable scenario into an alien setting. The visuals were fun and worked with the narrative.
Very well written and engaging piece of interactive fiction. I liked the sketchy illustrations. The music was beautiful, and worked perfectly to help set the tone. :)
That was so much random fun. It really made me laugh. Great original idea. :)
That was unique, and quirky. Great graphics. I didn't last long though - just not enough clicking speed.
That was cute. I liked the idea of saving the turtles and shoving them into the sea.
Nice visual style, well written and the music fits the mood of the narrative. :)
The graphics were cute and I liked the puzzle mechanics. Unfortunately I couldn't complete level 3, as I couldn't find the exit.
I found it tricky to control the player character, but I like the graphics & the original idea & gameplay. :)
I enjoyed how quirky and abstract this was, and those visuals are so vibrant. :) It reminded me of Waiting for Godot set in an alien world. I liked it. :)
Clever take on the theme. There's so much pressure to make a party successful. :) I liked the way you implemented the mechanics in this.
This was fun and pretty addictive. The droplet character was cute. Was there a score on the screen? I couldn't see it.
I played the HTML5 version and it worked fine in Chrome. Nice straightforward gameplay & I love the visual style of those characters. :)
