Very nice! I think this is quite a unique idea that utilizes the theme well. :)

arkinrev 2018-12-03 06:13

It took a few tries to get the hang of it, but I really like the puzzle and pet aspect. It's a very lighthearted way to impale your little guys and juice everything you can out of them to fulfil your orders. I had fun, nice job!

jimbly 2018-12-03 06:30

@pukami @arkinrev Thanks for playing, glad you had fun!

potatoez 2018-12-03 22:37

Very cool, would be a really fun mobile game, it was smooth game play too sounds were fitting

garygreen 2018-12-03 22:38

This was an interesting puzzler. Cute graphics. Those poor pets!

nkrim 2018-12-03 22:47

Always love a pipe game personally. A little hard to get into but once you get the flow of it it's really fun!

mruniverse 2018-12-03 22:52

I really enjoyed this! Slimes are great. Murdering slimes for their lifeblood is better. Feeding the lifeblood of murdered slimes to un-murdered slimes, priceless!

jimbly 2018-12-03 23:02

@potatoez It works pretty well on mobile after I fixed some button size and touch response issues =).

@nkrim Glad you got the *flow* of it.

@mruniverse It's not cannibalism if you transmute them into potions first!

noah-barsky 2018-12-03 23:34

Completed 9/10 challenges, didn't get the ambrosia potion. Cool game

jimbly 2018-12-04 02:52

@noah-barsky Way to go! That's more than just about everyone (check the high scores in the menu, put in your name, if you'd like ;).

backurio 2018-12-04 22:55

I really am not a fan of pipe games. I hate that much clicking on the same pipe to turn it so much.

But your game idea is quite nice and challenging. Good job.

derek-volker 2018-12-05 15:30

Nice entry and creative take on the theme. Puzzles arent really my thing, but the game was nicely done, with good graphics and interesting mechanic. Props for making it alone, in 48 hours and contain lots of challenges. It just lacked some background music. Good job.

freakoftheyear 2018-12-05 15:37

I like how everything in this game is connected and managing resources is quite fun. Really solid game jam game. The game is well polished and I didn't run into any bugs. There should be background music too, it would make it perfect. I have spent the most time playing this(comparing to other games I tried on this gamejam) The slimes look cute and I can imagine them tasting like gummy candy. :D

jimbly 2018-12-05 16:29

@derek-volker Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I wish I had had time to add some background music. I perhaps spent too much time polishing the UI interactions, but I was worried people wouldn't grasp what was going on without a lot of that, so... sacrifices were made.

@freakoftheyear I'm guessing you're one of the few people who made it to 9 or 10 orders completed, congrats on getting so far! Mmmm... chewy slime candies...

matank 2018-12-06 23:02

I really liked how polished the interface feels! In general the game looks very professional and I really enjoyed the art style.

I am not sure I fully figured out the gameplay though. I made tons of creatures that I thought were supposed to match the "order" requirements but did not get the correct keyword (e.g., "bloodlust", "perfect" etc.) I assume it's missing because of lack of time, but would be really nice if we had one or two "tutorial levels" before this real one starts to teach the mechanic.

Anyway, congrats on making this!

aortega 2018-12-06 23:10

I enjoyed discovering how to make more and better potions, addictive! The art and sounds are ok. Easy to understand and control. Good use of the theme. Good job, you made something fun!!

jimbly 2018-12-06 23:15

@matank Sadly I didn't explain that at all, hoped it would be more clear... keyword comes from the biggest and second biggest value - if the biggest is more than twice the second biggest, then it gets something like Beautiful for the green/beauty stat, if the first and second are closer, but both more than twice the 3rd, then it gets some combination, like "bloodlust" for strength+beauty (red+green), and if they're all about even, it gets "golden" or "perfect". The difficulty really does ramp up quickly, which I think turns a lot of people off, I should have made that smoother, but I ran out of time, so sacrifices had to be made ;).

@aortega Glad it clicked with you and that you enjoyed it!

ludovico 2018-12-06 23:17

Enjoyable game, the "golden pet" quest seemed bug to my, I had a pet with over 2 in every stat yet I could not give them up. Besides that fun game, well done.

jimbly 2018-12-06 23:29

@ludovico Sorry, that's not very clear! It needs to be both 2+ in each stat, and have the "Golden" attribute/name, which it gets if all of the stats are approximately the same (none is more than 2x another).

flashviper 2018-12-06 23:48

Neat game! The brewing mechanics were really deep, which I thought was cool. Unfortunately, they seemed to be complex and un-intuitive. A little explanation for how traits transfer would help a lot. I really enjoyed the art style, and the liquid flowing through the pipes was a really cool effect!

jimbly 2018-12-07 01:21

I've updated the description information above with a breakdown of what is required for each adjective, hopefully that helps any additional players that can't figure it out. Can't add that in-game, of course, but maybe this will help ^_^. Glad you played it!

ludovico 2018-12-07 02:36

@jimbly Thank you for clarifying, the green stat far exceeded the other two

hempuli 2018-12-07 03:09

Very nice! The system seemed frighteningly complicated at first based on the description on this page, but turned out to be fairly simple and manageable. I'm glad there was no time limitation, so I had time to learn to understand the system. It was a lot of fun to play and I wanted to complete every task. My main issues were the labels of the potions/slimes, something you pointed out yourself, and the fact that it was (for me) often difficult to notice if an order was referring to a potion or a pet. Because of the latter I made a pet with 16 in everything for the final task, only to realize that the request was for a potion instead. Still very very solid, definitely one of my favourites so far.

jimbly 2018-12-07 03:52

@hempuli Oh no! Not the potion required, but what a glorious pet! I hope he made a good sacrifice? =)

sorlok 2018-12-07 05:01

Good use of the theme, and interesting mechanics! I liked the various trade-offs. It seemed a bit too easy to get "stuck" before filling the first order (I had to reset a few times), but after that I got the hang of it. Good job!

jimbly 2018-12-07 05:04

The very first order you should start with a slime that can fill it, but it is definitely possible to get stuck pretty quickly if you don't manage your resources well - you only get so many GP rewards. In retrospect, I think I should have had two tiers of orders - one "easy" one always available (just 1-2 brews to make) that gets you some GP, and then the other 10 now for the "quest" orders, to progress in the game, so if you get stuck you could have at least grinded for easy orders (and just had a worse score in the end).

justalocalhero 2018-12-07 05:52

Usually this style of puzzler isn't for me, but the management aspect, and using the puzzle as a means rather than an end, adds a lot more depth and strategy. The slimes are adorable (am I a bad person for spiking them all?). The resource management is simple and effective.

I think it could also work with a more long term gameplay mode. Setting up whole production lines of potions and building up high stat slimes. Deciding whether to focus on selling the slimes or the potions. Whether to make lots of generic potions or a few specific pure ones. There's just a lot of gameplay to be had out of the mechanics you chose. I really like what you've done.

myfriendtames 2018-12-08 04:11

This game is very interesting!

I really like the idea.

The artwork is very nice!

Very good job! :v:

geckoo1337 2018-12-09 19:16

Great puzzle game which is for me really hard. At first, it seems complicated, but with your explanations I can play a while. The brewing mechanics were really clever. A good game ++

jay-elbourne 2018-12-09 22:43

Had a hard time understanding what to do at first.

rhewid 2018-12-09 23:06

Nice a Tamagotchi with puzzle elements. Liked the art and the sounds too!

candlesan 2018-12-10 00:07

Great art. Love the classic pipe game. Interesting take - it alsmost reminds me of the Ludum Dare earlier this year "Combine Two incompatible genres" - but also with "Sacrifices must be made" - so it's almost like you got 2 themes in one jam!

jimbly 2018-12-10 01:37

@candlesan Heh, yeah, themes tend to overlap sometimes... my entry for the last Ludum Dare would have been *perfect* for this theme. It did pretty well for that one too, but with this theme, I almost considered making a "sequel" ^_^. Glad you enjoyed the Slimes!

nakami 2018-12-10 13:40

Well done this is a good pipe game !

carbonara 2018-12-10 17:55

Nice graphics and gameplay, realy enjoyed it. The slimy faces are awesome ahah. Good job!

slizzben 2018-12-11 11:35

Very nice game! I love that type of game! Great design :)

antt5053 2018-12-11 15:58

It has been a long time i did not play a pipe game nice entry

jfraser314 2018-12-11 16:34

Fun little game. I kept trying to drag the beakers instead of clicking on them. I accidentally killed one of the slimes immediately, and with such cute faces felt pretty bad. But only having two to feed let me figure out the game at a more reasonable pace. Great entry!

jimbly 2018-12-11 16:46

@jfraser314 I don't remember trying to drag while I was developing, but when I went back to play it again after a week, the *very first thing* I did was try to drag... probably would have been more intuitive that way, I think =). One of the initial slimes (maybe the one you sacrificed) satisfies the initial order, so you're only expected to have 2 to feed (and quickly need to sacrifice one for ingredients) anyway.

gafblizzard 2018-12-11 22:45

I want to like this but I can't figure out certain things. How do you get a yellow slime? They only seem to turn golden or wicked etc. I tried a 6/0/0 slime and a 8/0/0 slime, but it doesn't let me fulfil a "6+/0/0" "pure potion" order.

That said, it's very compelling other than that, and I spent a long time TRYING to figure out how things work. :p

*edit* I figured it out! Sometimes potions can be goals, and not just pets.

gafblizzard 2018-12-11 22:47

Also at one point I got the information overlay stuck and it would never turn off.

gafblizzard 2018-12-11 23:38

I won in 31 turns! Sadly, I'm merely TOP 3. D:

jimbly 2018-12-12 00:51

@gafblizzard The overlay shows up if you clicked the button in the lower right, or if you hold shift. It's possible the browser thought your shift key was down, and, unfortunately, if you leave the browser window with a shortcut like shift+alt+tab or something like that, the browser never gets a key up event, nor does it ever get a blur/unfocus event, so it's near impossible to catch (no way to poll key states in the browser, or anything like that), so that's probably what happened. There might be some tricky ways to recover from the stuck keys I'll look into in the future. Thanks for playing, and congrats on winning, you're only the second person to do so, besides me ^_^.

jimbly 2018-12-12 17:07

Looks like the blur/unfocus issue I complained about is no longer in the latest Chrome at least, and I've fix my engine's handling of the events to ensure keys no longer gets stuck, thanks for reporting this @gafblizzard ^_^.

eric-smith 2018-12-15 01:28

I was highly satiated by this game! I played for quite a while. I think you have something here! Although I could not figure out how to earn GP and my bottles were full on the bottom and only had one slime left. I couldn't figure out where to go next. But still well done! EDIT: I figured it out. :)

jimbly 2018-12-15 05:17

@eric-smith Glad you enjoyed it, and that it satiated you!

falak 2018-12-15 19:56

Well made. Interesting mechanics. Good luck!

lucecyl 2018-12-17 16:50

Good use of theme with the mechanics!
