Yes, sorry about that, i'll try to add instructions on the future versions.
I thought about adding a real gameplay for the turtle but i didn't have enough time. So in this version the turtle stun the monsters when swimming over them and it also helps to grab... coins ? (i changed that for food) so that you can keep your cape without losing time. I didn't make the gold work either.
Here is a link of an updated & latest version of the game : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8211966/hooj_latest.zip
Simple & fun !
Clean design, nice animations and easy to understand. <3
Fun fun fun !
The game is crashing here on seven 64bits :/
I tried the binary from one hour ago, i can now start the game but it stills crash when i click "play".
http://imgur.com/Nz5Uj
Woah thanks for caring about that :)
The link redirect to ludumdare.com, i put the right one here http://tinyworld.tinco.nl since people might just go away.
Wow you just edited your page, allright :)
Woaaah, I spent a bit more than one hour on your game and didn't even finish it. The controls at first are a bit weird since almost each room has its physics but still the yellow/red controls are too slow in my opinion.
There is a WTF yellow level that i forgot to screen and a blue one that i really loved : http://imgur.com/rNQTA
That was a fun game to play ! I guess you might deserve the oscar of the longest game. Nice job on the level design (the blue levels were not well scaled as you progress in the game though). There are TONS of puzzles !
I REALLY enjoyed this game ! I didn't know what to expect, this mechanics is in many LD entries but your level design was great. But i think i'm biaised because what I really love was the music, there is a strong "Explosions in the Sky" feeling, i think that your game shows how a track can add a lot in the mood & experience of the game. Also, fuck you ! That part was HARD > http://imgur.com/lc1MO at least it took time for me to understand how to pass it.
I guess that in a Comp submission it wouldn't work since that's not your track.
But nice job !
"I guess that in a Comp submission it wouldn't work since that's not your track. " that remark was irrelevant, forget it :)
Haha, it's hard to give less than 4 stars. I really like how a *simple* idea can grow into something really awesome when nicely implemented : the story, graphics, music & mechanics really blend well. <3
I love the art ! One of the best tiny entry <3
I just wanted to share the feeling of The-Force, the title made me want to try. Now, i see that you are using Corona, could you maybe share the sources, i have corona installed.
The controls were a bit hard to understand at first but once you get them they actually feel quite natural. The title and description within the level is a nice touch. I liked the clean art and really loved the music :)
Nice mood !
Awesome :)
Woaah, I love the art, the level design, the feeling, the simple but yet so fun bomb mechanic ! Best entry for me so far.
I like to ride ants ! The change of mood from the jungle to the *server room* was great. I love the art, that was fun to play.
I am REALLY curious about your game, your theme is intriguing... but LEFT & RIGHT doesn't seem to work, is it just me ?
You know how to create an atmosphere ! Graphics & Music are awesome, the message is nice. Good work.
Thanks for the comments guys ! For those poor alone souls, just paste the link in IRC and you'll have opponents in seconds.
Sorry for those who couldn't connect that was actually a connection issue, that should work now.
I actually had an IP reset which put me offline, i'm not sure the server can handle reconnection but still the ip is hardcoded so it couldn't have worked anyway. It should be fixed by now.
Thanks, I'm using python with twisted. I will make a post-mortem with more details i guess.
The mechanic is nice but of course i wish there would have an objective. The 3D rock effect is a nice touch.
Nice little game ! Also clicking on every version of your game is another funny game.
"You should Sign Up or Login to download this file", I think that it's gonna prevent many people from trying your game :(
Thanks for re-hosting. Testing your game was a real adventure, i was actually pointing out my remarks in that comment while i thought i should give a last try and it actually went way better.
Here were my thoughts before understanding what was going on :
I thought that the mouse was for the camera, the wings were TOO FUCKING BIG in my opinion, because i thought it was in the collision box, the asteroids following you just added another layer of difficulty. It took time for me to understand that you actually ONLY move in a 2D plane because the *death scene* where the physics gets mad and where you move into 3D while still being able to move made the whole thing a bit confusing.
BUT ! I got all these things later and i liked the avoiding asteroid part until reaching Aegaeon, i think i made it something like 20 times without real problem until i had to land... THAT WALL http://imgur.com/enk1W !
Did i get it well ? Was i supposed to land in that box ? I tried just going straight to the planet but it always ended suffocating. So the trick for me was to go over that wall, damaging the ship but still sometimes you land before your death. And then comes the FPS part, the double gameplay was a nice touch but except jumping and looking those UFO making my health go down i really didn't know what to do.
Final thoughts ! When I insisted i actually enjoyed that asteroid part. The most confusing thing to me was that you put instructions ingame about the keys to use but not the mouse; I didn't even think about using it, it actually prevented me from doing it. The damaging wall really stopped the fun and the lack of instructions on the FPS part didn't help either. I looked in the launcher but mouse1/2/3 didn't seem to do anything. Graphics were nice, controls weird but funny.
I like the idea but i have to say that it took some time for me to understand how it works. The first generated world put the planets too far from each other, i couldn't hook. Once you get that it's actually fun to play but the colonization has a strange behaviour, you don't really know when it's gonna happen. I liked the graphics, more than in the screenshot oddly, and the sound effects/music were nice :)
Really fun & polished game <3
It's typically the kind of mechanic i love ! I quited at almost 10 minutes of play as i understood i couldn't actually lose. I'd love to see it evolve into something <3.
Nice graphics, nice mood !
I got that error when trying to make a unit :
http://paste.pocoo.org/show/586587/
The game looks cool though, the sounds/music is great and the interface feels like any strategic game. I can't comment more yet.
Moving the planet and the moving factory (!?) was a good mechanic ! The upgrades were a nice touch. And you got music <3
Haha ! I liked the retro-weird art. The goal was a bit fuzzy on the first game but I finally beat it. I didn't over-enjoyed the mechanics, still you finished it on time and without bugs !
7825 just before the game goes darker since there seems to be a bug. Otherwise it was fun to play, the graphics were great, the whole mood was nicely done and it has a nice replayability. I had a collision error popping at the begining of the game but i guess it would have been ignored if i wasn't using the debug player.
Good job !
Is there a word stronger than "HARD" ? At first it was unplayable but quickly you understand the mechanics and it begins to be fun. The glowing effect was nice.
Fun !
The level design was great & it's multiplayer <3
Are you having the same issue with the server 2 link ?
The first link is down for now, but second is working here, there's no reason it shouldn't work with you. It takes 3 seconds usually before showing a white message saying that the server is waiting for players.
Awesome art, i started to laugh when the monkeys came into play :D
Nice graphics, i wanted the pigeon to be a bit more nervous in the controls though :]
I gave up on the third level but it was kinda addictive and there was a nice mood. I felt like i couldn't see the plots after an extensive game session :D
Woah, everything was great and how can you fit more the theme than like this.
I loved your game, there is a really nice feeling destroying everything, i was stucked playing trying to unlock all the weapons, art is awesome, all those particles going away when mining made it look really polished ! The difficulty was really well balanced to me and the music/sound was fitting the mood of your game.
I don't know who's the villain though. I said it was well balanced and it was, but only for one player in my opinion. My first game was with an already started multiplayer game and it was hard to upgrade my weapons when you have to go 500 meters under the ground and going back (Punk* if you're reading me). I guess you are supposed to play the game with your friends from the beginning but even though, the more players in the game the harder it becomes for everyone. That's the main disappointment for me, it's a co-op game but it's really hard to stay with your friends and there's no actual co-op mechanic.
That's nitpicking stuff for a LD but this is surely the best LD game i've played so far and would definitely play it if you are going further with it!
Simple idea and really fun game !
@Lidfrid
Thanks ! Yes i've not really chosen that font, time chose it for me *cough*
@Dioiminik
Yep you are right :/
@ix
I fail to find a counter-argument for the interesting part, sadly.
"too soon", the idea was to react about it, there's no point for me to make that game later and i don't believe in a kind of reaction latency need towards those kind of events, towards any event actually.
@Mythalore
Sorry, i regularly connect to the game to check if the server hasn't died yet and it's ok right now, try to refresh or something :/
@Hexot
Haha, a labyrinth speedrun, interesting :D
You should definitely check Ore Chasm it's multiplayer and everything is awesome about it http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-25/?action=preview&uid=3041
Sorry for the lone guys (and girls), it's indeed empty so you'll have to come with a friend or just drop the link on #ludumdare@AfterNet on IRC.
Also i've found that it's buggy in some scenarios that i can't seem to reproduce, just refresh the page.
Awesome music ! Awesome everything :3
Simple & polished !
Funny game, simple mechanic and i still managed to suck. Chrome was mean :(
While i agree with some of the rant of Izitmee i still think it's a really good idea and i actually had fun experiencing it. I share his thought about the game being a bit too serious that it feels uncomfortable reading the explanation.
I didn't get how to upgrade at first, but then i started to enjoy it, nice art !
I'm also stucked on the N but the idea is great and fit the theme awesomely \o/.
Also, as simple as it is, it's really polished.
Simple mechanics and fun to play. Nice to you managed to add bots.
The levels were fun, maybe a reset button would have been great. Also it's a bit hard to understand how the trajectory is made along the mouse position.
Haha, it's funny, short, and completely in the theme, good job.
Sorry for the lack of players, i guess a good idea is to just throw the link on IRC, people generally just check out and you'll have a few minutes of game.
For the game not working, i noticed today that there was a weird bug, it's only client-side and it seems to stop popping at some point if you spam refresh (hopefully).
Sorry for the lag, the compensation code is quite naive. I also just moved my computer and so the connection for the holidays which might not help. I'm in europe, if you're american that's no luck :(
Yes it's a bit obscure as it is, but the idea is :x: SPOILER :x: > Your Bitsynder profile affects the apps you're comfortable deleting. So if you're into games, not a good idea to delete those.
> The real issue is that there's no precise metric about how it affects you when deleting and that might be frustrating.
> Try to make a simpler Bitsynder profile and maybe a more precise app deletion and see how it goes.
