Nice mood and narrative, although it lacks a real essence.

Nice mood and narrative, although it lacks a real essence.
Pretty nice gameplay and stylish graphics.
Stunning graphics and really polished gameplay. Great entry, but once again I don't understand why somebody so talented did not try a more original interpretation of the theme. Anyway, great work!
Although the platforming sections could need some tuning/polishing, the overall experience was great and the idea was really funny. Nice meta interpretation of the theme!
Super awesome, probably the best game I've tried so far. Incredibly fun gameplay and polished graphics for a game in only three days. Congrats!
Cool art style!
Stellar premises and presentation, but not so great gameplay. It is fun although not really polished (but that's normal for a jam). Fun theme, although I am not sure how the bridge is supposed to throw people :D
Awesome idea. I love the cat, I love the stereotype of the evil genius. Incredibly well done!
Cool 3d models and animations! The gameplay is fun enough (although not really polished). With your skills you could have interpreted the theme in a more original way though :)
Cool idea. I like to talk with myself sometimes :)
I like the idea, although it's easy to die by hitting something that you did not see because the camera is "faster" than your character.
Cool but needs some polish.
I am not sure that I got the game: I am trying to understand what values I can change and what that slider does, but I am failing in that regards.
Super hard, but I loved it.
Good idea and really fun!
I like the graphics and I love the idea of the concept. Although I don't see any feedbacks of my actions, since the happiness counter keeps going down in a linear way. I don't understand why I can't interact with other objects like laptop and elevators, and I see no expression or feedback on the face of the humans.
Great potential and atmosphere, but I fear that it missed its target.
Nice effort for 9 hours, although there is no much to review. I really like the art style though, finish the game!
Cool idea and nice realization. The gfx could use some work, but in general good job!
Awesome idea, I love this sides switch.
Although at least after a first playthrough, the game is really hard, have you considered slowing it down a bit?
Nice idea, I would make so that the torch give you a quick preview of the level once again, just to refresh your mental map of it.
I did not like the first two minigames, since they showed a literal interpretation of the theme, not really original nor fun. Although the last minigames were really well thought and funny, so at the end the game convinced me. Great job!
Really nice graphics and quite good gameplay. Although I have some problems/suggestions:
1)The font is cool but is really unreadable, it ruins the game!
2)There is a bug in the menu, I can highlight two sectors at the same time
3)Shouldn't you write somewhere in the sector screen that you can come back to the previous screen with "1"? I missed it the first time and I had to restart.
P.s.
Nice music!
I really like the idea and the realization (judging from the video). Although I would have been nice to have some sort of "guards" who can shoot the zombies that you strategically overtake. (If that's not the case with the blue dots, I am not sure that I understood what they are.)
Nice graphic style (Although a bit too "minecraftian"). When I hit a human once, there was no real feedback that I was "hurting" him instead of just hitting him, so I did not understand that I was able to kill them.
I had to read the description to get it :(
It's a cool game for being your first one! Although even if the potential is there, the gameplay is too repetitive and boring right now. Decent graphics, and not so great sfxs.
Could use some polish.
P.s.
If I hold the spacebar, stuff happens.
P.p.s.
Stencyl is cool for really simple stuff, but I suggest you to switch to real code as soon as possible ;)
There is something wrong with the hitboxes of the character, and the game is super buggy (it does not work if I restart after dieing). It's a nice start that you could polish to get something more ;)
I am not sure that I got the game. Do I need to aim with the mouse? It seems so. But then why is the mouse hidden?
The game is fun and works, although I think that the collisions are a bit problematic. Sometimes I hit with distant walls, and sometimes I don't hit the character. Slightly polishing the hitbox would make the game feel more fluid. I would give it a faster pace at the start as well. Good job!
There is not much to rate, but the potential of the concept and the beauty of the graphics tell me that you really know your stuff :D
I want to see this finished! :)
Cool graphics, nice gameplay.. but why am I forced to play it in such a small window? I tried but I could not find any option to scale it :/
Nice idea, nice gameplay. Super graphics!
Although the menu font is quite unreadable and this makes the instructions a real pain to be followed :)
The game does not really work and lacks polish but it is incredibly fun somehow :D
Probably the sfxs combined with the simple graphics?
It's also weird that I can destory tanks and buildings but a single bullet hurts me :D
I am sorry but I really fail to see the theme in this game, why should I be the villain? In addition the foreground is confused with the background (I can't see the spikes).
Good job for the jam, although it's missing some polish.
Nice style and game idea, although I think that you should better explain the food constraint at the start of the game, since I didn't get it and I reached a point with -25 food without knowing about it and losing the game for it.
Really nice idea, but not perfect realization: the movement is weird and frustrating.
Quite inventive and creative, although I got bored, probably because I am not american :D I had super fun though.
Cool procedural generation of the levels and nice concept. The game really needs to be balanced and tuned though, since right now it's very hard and there is really no much "stealth" in it.
Nice graphics!
Great potential. With more objects and different kind of obstacles it could totally work, I really see this concept.
However, as colour blind, I really had problems finding the exit everytime, I suggest you to draw a symbol on it or to use a different colour.
MSVCP110.dll is missing and I can't play :( Although I should have everything installed
(I am on windows 8)
Really nice pixel art and sounds. Although I am not sure how I am supposed to avoid those superpowered guards :D
Nice entry!
It does not have much to do with the theme (as you said) but I must say that the graphics are amazing for such a short time lapse. Congrats!
Incredibly hard but really impressive quality wise. Great job!
P.s.
Next time please do some variations on the sfx, it's annoying to hear the same sfx constantly :D
Visually impressive, I don't really know what it's going on in the game. In addition, there is no mouse lock (I am on windows 8) and the torch is really useless. Unplayable to me :(
The idea is SUPER COOL and the animations of the fridge are awesome. However, the controls could use a lot of work, right now the game is not fun due to the lack of proper movement/feedback.
Polish that and you will have something really nice :D
Nice writing :)
Pretty cool for the time lapse given. However I feel that controls and the shoot direction could have been improved. Nice graphics, dialogues and atmosphere!
Love the art style and nice gameplay, although I was never able to rip skulls :)
Marvellous pixel art, and incredibly polished gameplay. Amazing entry.
Neat idea!
If another windows opened, the program would react to your actions, while the player should be evil outside the program itself, by just closing the program, and not because the program said so.
In this sense, even the game over screen is a "failure", in a way.
Thanks for your comments :)
The game looks awesome and I can really the amount of effort that went in this.
Great graphics and mood as well. However I would have loved a button for "deselect all", rigt now it can get very messy if you move your mouse incorrectly :D
Nice concept, although it's missing a lot of polish, more levels and graphics. Given the time constraint you did well :)
Well conceived gameplay, although maybe too much difficult.
Doesn't work here as well.
I am in love with the atmosphere of this game. Absolutely amazing.
Also the aestethics. Wow!
The problem is tho, that, at least to me, enemies' movement pattern is not clearly recognisable, and I fail to understand how to avoid them. Maybe I am just not fast enough.
Really nice game tho :)
Nice effects considering the amount of pixels involved.
Not bad, but it's a bit plain.
Not too bad considering the time put in it. The guards fail very often though, and the web version is a bit messy (especially with clicks).
A lot of little imperfections that make it not-so-great, but not bad overall.
Game's nice and well executed.
A couple of remarks:
- The sound of the player getting hit is terribly annoying
- It's quite easy to rush through the level without having to actually shoot something for a long part of it
Ultimately, it was fun. Really cute graphics.
Also, removing game features to fit the theme is funny.
Eye-popping (quite literally). Must say that while it's simple it still feels very good to play.
Really nice lighting effects and 3D pixel art.
A couple of complains:
- Why do I always spawn facing the walls and not the enemies?
- Why don't you keep the mouse locked at all times, even during loading screens?
Overall I like it, but how does it fit with the theme?
I'm afraid I don't get it. Good try, nonetheless.
Quite hard, and very nice idea.
Really nice presentation and mood.
Not challenging, but that's not what the game aims to be.
If I can express an opinion as a designer, imho the fact that the "checkpoints" are squares makes it dubious to the player whether he should get inside them or not. Since I am colourblind, I could not understand if it was green or red, therefore I had no idea if I would have died hitting the first one.
Nice game, although not really fitting with theme.
As I clicked on the web player, it immediately sent me to Game Over. I don't seem to be able to click on the button to re-try :(
I am on Mavericks, using Chrome.
HIghly unpolished but a good start.
I am not sure if the ghost is supposed to do anything, it just kept colliding with me. Also, either the lamps have a really weird color or they are missing a texture.
IN terms of level design, I am not sure what is the purpose of all these big, empty, rooms.
Addicting and catchy tune, you should tweak the speed though (if you don't start mashing right away it might take a long while to win).
Nice effects, but overall quite plain.
Nice graphics! It's hard to control without being able to break, but it adds to the fun.
Really nice graphics (although I would have liked a bit more work on the background, but that just polish) and brilliant idea.
It took me some time to understand how it worked, but I was really amazed when I did. Great job!
I feel thrown back playing this game, the graphics aren't there but the tension is. Nicely done!
Really great game. Love the aesthetics.
It took me some time to understand how it worked, but instead of being frustrating it was a rewarding process.
Only, the game seems to freeze once in a while, I am not sure if it's intended or if it's flash or my PC. Kinda annoying.
Great game overall!
Quite short, and can be tweaked a bit to make it more entertaining. I loved rescuing my love, though.
HIlarious xD Loved it
Nice idea! It's quite similar to our own, Monocraft.
Very neat idea! Quite refreshing, I must say.
This made me genuinely laugh. To be honest I think you could have increased the difficulty in a much better way, and the game mechanic could have been more fun.
But the style of the drawings + the bosses were hilarious.
Good job, very polished for the amount of time it was made in.
This was a bit unplayable for me, to be honest. It's really difficult to understand who I am at the start, the camera seems to follow more my arrow keys press than the character, and it takes me A LOT before I find the first ability.
Why isn't the character even slightly different than the other enemies?
I like the idea, although not super fitting with the theme.
Looks very good, but it's a bit slow to play and has a lot of tiny bugs. Wish it can be improved upon.
Looks and plays very well, but it's hard as hell!
I really really like the concept, however this is really unpolished. You could have done so much more with the graphics and the controls to make this great.
This has great potential, and it's in general a nice entry :)
Not incredibly fitting with the theme, but certainly a fun game.
When the ship explodes, its graphics is not remove. You should only leave the explosion animation, otherwise you don't send clear feedback to the player whether the ship is dead or it was just hit once. I found myself very confused by it at the start.
With some slightly more polished graphics and a better font, this could be a nice game.
P.s.
I lol'd at the Loading screen.
What an AMAZING concept. I love it. I think that I die a couple of times even though I killed the "monsters" before they got me, and also encountered a couple more bugs, but apart from the technical problems I really dig the realization.
I think the theme could have maybe fit better, but this is an EXCELLENT entry.
Congrats.
I like the idea behind, but I think the first level is too much trial & error. I had to come and read the cheats in the description to understand what to do.
Game design is a very subjective field, but I think that you cannot leave the player like that in your first level. The array of possibilities is too big to have a trial & error level. I did try at least 10 combinations before putting it near the blue cube.
I know that is not logical, as the player may try all the combinations with the coloured cubes, but in my mind I thought I did place it once on the blue cube but apparently I did not.
At the end, a nice idea anyway :)
Looks a bit blurred, but OK otherwise.
ROTFL
You got me
Very fun, my sincerest compliments! I love reading all the text the game throws at me (it's a bit hard, though, especially in the "avoid this" Matrix part).
Neat game there. I don't get one thing, though. Was it made in XNA or in Unity? Or did you make the Windows version in XNA while making the web version with Unity?
Interesting idea, has some potential
Nice interpretation of the theme!
Nice idea for two players. Had to look hard to find a friend to play it with, ih ih ih.
Nice message, though it could've been expanded upon. For the next LD, make something bigger. ;)
It's fun, though the theme is loosely interpreted.
The game itself is not bad, "only one life" is a little bit overused in this jam.
Anyway if polished can become a fun game!
Killing off the hamsters by accident (or on purpose) is quite sad and there doesn't really feel a need to drain their oxygen anyway.
Very simple graphics and gameplay, but very engaging and fun. Thumbs up!
LOVE the game over screen.
Nice game, although it was really confusing for me to understand that I had to hit the swords and not the enemies themselves. I have to say that the delay of the controls did not help :)
Really neat atmosphere. A bit buggy though, enemies go through walls often. Polish this up and then publish it, it's a good game!
(Hardly fitting with theme tho)
Nice game, though it takes a bit to understand how it works.
Is there a reason why it takes me through the dialogue every time I restart?
Anyway it's polished, but it was also very unclear to me that I could use SHIFT without reading the controls. (You can blame me, but nobody will as well, and the introduction text was too long imho :P)
Apart from these issues, it's quite polished and it manages to be fun.
Good job!
I can't access the index for the game.
I found it quite funny :D
The graphics of the guys especially were great!
Not bad, but too plain and simple.
Very cool idea, the gameplay's nice too!
Polished, but has some control issues.
The scrolling background is adorable, love it.
I am not sure about the difficulty curve, as the game got frustrating immediately for me, but maybe that's because I am not a fan of hard platformers :)
Good job on the graphics of tileset and characters. Maybe music and sound effects may have been better, but overall a great entry.
I like the idea, and I think the gameplay could be great fun, however the controls are not really working. There's too much delay of the sword movement from the mouse, and the animation seems to start later than the mouse click.
I like the idea, I think it's not really well fit with the theme, but there's potential :)
Plain, but graphics and audio are catchy.
I was just avoiding meteors by waving my mouse randomly, that's not a good sign :D
I really like the ship's controls and rotation, but Imho it woudl be cooler if it could rotate 360 degrees instead of only 90 as maximum.
Anyway, nice entry, could be better with more polish :)
Not really fitting with theme though.
Very cool! Just like good old reflex games.
The platforming controls really need to be better :) I could not finish the game, I was too frustrated by the controls of the game.
Deep and touching. Very good!
