LD25 — You are the Villain

Picker Pocketer by Entity2D 2013-01-07T21:12:00

The quick time events were a bit too quick for me. I would have liked to see more distinction between types of "marks" (risk in terms of qte speed/reward).

Apart from that, it's a fun concept and nice implementation. :)

Plunder! by MarekkPie 2013-01-07T22:26:00

I couldn't get the throwing to work for me, so I didn't get too far. You got the workings of a good combat system here though. Good job! :)

The life of a Boss by Jiddo 2013-01-07T21:04:00

I'm usually not a fan of Tower Defense style games, but I liked this one. It captures the spirit of the theme perfectly. :)

It took me a while to realize how you built minions (kept wondering why it took so long for heroes to die), but after that "aha!" moment it was easy to get into. Great work! :)

Also, great graphics!

Regnant by phaze0 2013-01-07T21:34:00

It took me a while to get into the gameplay and it feels a bit rough as it is, but I think the gameplay has promise to become a good mobile strategy game.

If the gameplay can be tightened a bit and if you add a world map, I think you're on to something good here. :)

TYRANOFORCE by blob 2012-12-18T23:05:00

Great idea and execution. :D

Cancel Christmas! by tompudding 2013-01-07T23:35:00

One of the C quizzes was a bit too much for my tired and flu.ridden brain to handle, but definitely coming back to this one when my head is a bit clearer.

This is probably the most original take I've seen on the theme. The puzzles I did get were great brainteasers, and I was impressed by how authentic the SQL bit felt.

I also enjoyed the music. Great work! :)

A Light To Kill By by Mythalore 2012-12-18T22:22:00

This is the first point and click I've played from LD25. :D

I like the idea. I misinterpreted the clue and ended up killing the wrong guy, but had fun doing so. Just needs more puzzles!

Villain OS 8 by tommycreo 2012-12-18T22:14:00

This brought back fond memories of Inspector Gadget. :D

The control scheme didn't work out too well for me (I used a mouse), but I have a feeling it would work much better on a tablet. Especially the cat cuddling ^_^

MidBoss by Eniko 2013-01-07T22:15:00

Considering the amount of time you put into this, it's a really impressive piece of work. I have to admit that I'm not the world's biggest Rogue-like fan, but you made a good entry to the genre (and killed me a bunch of times).

The graphics and UI certainly didn't make it feel like a game jam entry. :)

Kill Ville by ConflictiveLabs 2012-12-18T01:01:00

I had a lot of fun with this one. Played several rounds. Would like to see the concept explored further. :-)

Destroy All Heroes by Vennril 2012-12-18T21:58:00

I loved this one, it's really cute. The graphics were perfect for it! :)

With a little more variety in the enemies and maybe upgrades between waves you'll have a great web game on your hands. :D

Btw: I had one small technical hickup; in Chrome the background didn't render. Worked fine in Firefox though. (Ubuntu 12.10)

None Shall Pass by cardboard 2013-01-07T21:41:00

Really liked the plasticine sprites. The combat system felt a bit weird at first, but it grew on me. Nice work! :)

Robin Banks by BlockBrains 2012-12-18T21:46:00

Really funny concept and fun to play :)

Goat 666 by Pol 2012-12-18T21:52:00

This one had my laughing. Really loved the intro and graphics. :D

As for the gameplay, it has lots of potential, but things moved too quickly for me. Killing the soldiers was hard because I kept having problems picking people up. :(

If you chose to keep working on this, it would be nice if it started out a bit slower and ramped up.

Ninox the Nightbringer by Dining Philosopher 2013-01-07T22:00:00

2545 steps. The game certainly had some frustrating moments (there was a few points where I seriously considered putting Scotch tape on the monitor!), but you got a good mechanic and a very cool concept here. The premise feels very cinematic. :)

Would love to see a "full" (and somewhat more forgiving) game based on this. :)

Lord Evil's Daring Escape by Cryovat 2013-01-07T23:24:00

Thank you to everybody for the nice feedback. :)

@DiningPhilosopher: I'm sorry, I wasn't able to reproduce the error. I don't have any bright ideas as to what might be wrong. :(

To the ones who complained about size; I will keep working on this, and I can promise you that the more proper versions will be upscaled. I've experienced slowdowns on 12.10 after starting it over dozens and dozens of times, but never been able to pinpoint why.

The flying is due to wonky platforming code, it's unable to distinguish between standing on ground and falling. Suffice to say, it's scheduled for a rewrite.

Again, thank you for playing and for all the kind words. :)

A Natural Villain by ClownyBastards 2012-12-17T23:48:00

Hard, but fun concept. Love the graphics :D

Dr. Vile in The Greater Good by GreenPixelDev 2012-12-18T00:53:00

I'm really impressed by what you've managed to pull off in such a short space of time. Had a lot of fun with this :D

X-Moon by leafo 2013-01-07T20:52:00

I really loved the planet effect, impressed that you were able to pull that off in Love2D. :-)

I liked the tractor beam mechanic, although it kept making me die. Overall, it feels very complete and polished, great work!

Hell Guy Hells It Up by TyrusPeace 2013-01-07T22:34:00

That was adorable. Please make more! :D

(It needs a huge princess-eating cauldron at the end!)

Banished by Kharza 2013-01-07T23:30:00

The elevator took me some time to figure out, but apart from that, it was a wonderful experience. Really enjoyed the narrative.

I liked the melancholic atmosphere and the sense of mystery. I agree with the remarks about the narrative being unsubtle, and the combat scene felt like it didn't belong, but apart from that, excellent work! Had to play it twice for both endings. :)

Eaten by wzl 2012-12-18T08:05:00

The concept is wonderfully twisted. Add some patrolling cops that can arrest you, and it will be a great little game. :)

Looking forward to see where you take it.

Zombies vs. Survivors TAKE OVER THE CITY by bushmango 2013-01-07T22:06:00

Herding the zombies against the military guys got surprisingly challenging, fun game ,great work! :)

Legacy of Hamelin by Draknek 2012-12-18T22:40:00

It's a bit rough, but there's a good concept and mechanic for a puzzle game in there. :-)

Park to Park by Frozen Fractal 2012-12-18T22:50:00

From the games I've played so far, this is definitely my favorite and I've replayed it several times since first seeing it on IRC. Your take on the theme is original and the music and graphics fits perfectly.

Great work! :)

Let them live by MaTX 2013-01-07T21:22:00

It took me a while to get it (a lot of frustrated random clicking and keyboard pressing), but once I came back a second time, the frustration turned into awe. Chilling piece of work (in a good way). Good job! :)

LD26 — Minimalism

a.void by Ty Taylor 2013-04-30T23:47:00

Made it to 30 before the universe colllapsed. I adore the presentation. It's just gorgeous and gameplay works very well, great work! :)

While the music was good, it felt a bit mismatched with the visuals. It's a bit too cheery and upbeat for the cold visuals.

Colourless by Puccini 2013-04-30T23:51:00

Great work, the visuals fits the mechanic perfectly and the gameplay is addictive. :)

DeaN by Sakuyan 2013-04-30T19:58:00

It looks gorgeous, you did a great job on the visuals. I'm very envious of your spriting skills.

Unfortunately, it's buggy on my machine (Chromium, Ubuntu). During the story mode, it seems to get stuck and in game mode, they stop spawning.

Thanks for the video, I'm glad I got to watch the story to the end. :)

Prisma by plash 2013-04-30T21:47:00

The timers are unforgiving! D:

That said, the color switching mechanic works well and it has good potential for expansion. I also like the narrative. :)

MiniCave by aare 2013-05-01T15:03:00

The way the weapon switching worked felt a bit arbitrary, but apart from that I liked it. It could get pretty nuts. :D

stairs by cardboard 2013-05-02T23:12:00

The idea is very original and I enjoyed the music. Hard though! D:

SDFJKL by Dining Philosopher 2013-04-30T22:46:00

I'm sure this game cost me years of my life. The second-to-last level level had me screaming at my monitor for over fifteen minutes.

This is a solid game, the mechanic works well and the graphics are suprisingly effective. But the difficulty.... D:

Approximately pi over two by Cryovat 2013-04-30T00:19:00

Thanks for the heads up. It was an experiment that was accidentally left in the code. I've removed the offending line from the script file. Sorry about that. D:

Approximately pi over two by Cryovat 2013-04-30T21:53:00

Thank you all for the feedback! :)

@Ty/PF/TH: Thanks for giving it a go and the kind words! :)

@DP: That's the effect i was going for, glad to hear it worked! :) Unfortunately, as it is now, it's a game that literally ends after the tutorial levels.

@plash: These will be addressed, thanks! The reason you die is that I ran out of time and needed some way to end it. I'm hoping I'll find a way to incorporate those elements into a bigger setting though.

Formless Reliquary by PsenFilip 2013-04-30T21:36:00

Oh dear, my short term memory is terrible...

That said, this is beautiful. The light and sound really makes it all come together to a great package. :)

You Are, A Shadow by toonheart 2013-04-30T21:26:00

It got some chuckles out of me. :D

I screwed up on the first go, I kept going for cats due to them being cats. Didn't catch the relation with the level titles before it was far too late. :'(

Skware by tankete 2013-04-30T23:20:00

Yikes, the difficulty curve ramps up quickly! It's easy to get addicted to this. Great work! :)

Btw, yay for LÖVE!

Ming Imah Lism the Wizard ! by Gustera 2013-05-01T13:28:00

I died. D:

That said, awesome job. I'm impressed by all you were able to achieve during the weekend! The only thing that irked me a bit was that the fireballs were thrown "off-center". That messed with my mind.

Apart from that, I like the graphics, the monsters and especially the sound effects! :D

Stijl by patrickward 2013-04-30T20:04:00

I think you nailed the theme. The mechanics and aesthetics work very well. More please! :D

SquareRoot by Masadow 2013-04-30T23:33:00

The different floors are a great concept, but the controls were a bit too much on the slippery side for me. I second the suggestion for analogue controls! :)

Match teh Octagonz by dinos 2013-05-01T13:20:00

I'm a fan of the concept, but I'll join the "too hard" crowd. Would it be possible to tweak the game design so that it was a bit more obvious where to "start"?

Justice by nintendoeats 2013-04-30T23:08:00

Unfortunately, I was unable to save her. :(

It was very suspenseful and I enjoyed the story. I'm a bit reluctant to restarting it since the dialogue is unskippable by design.

That said, it's a solid game, and a very good take on the concept. Great work!

The Choices We Make by Dezzles 2013-04-30T23:42:00

I like the concept. It took me a while to catch on to that you could destroy the walls (I made it almost all the way through the game before that).

Nice lesson about the virtue of patience. I enjoyed the creepy mood/world. :D

BLOB by Kvisle 2013-05-05T22:12:00

Played it up to "Throwing myself around".

As it is now, it's already a very complete and good package with a good core mechanic, but it has some balancing issues. The levels seem to be a bit too reliant on precise timing. For instance, the level introducing turrets had me getting killed at the "last pixel".

The flipping also felt a bit abrupt. Since it didn't freeze the game, it felt a bit hard to tell where'd you end up/when to start moving the opposite direction.

All in all though, I think you got a very good game here. Great job, looking forward to seeing where you take it after LD. :-)

Vast by FunByJohn 2013-05-02T22:39:00

This game had an incredible ambience and sense of wonder to it. I'm awestruck. :)

Fearless by DragonSix 2013-05-01T14:44:00

That was intense. The whiteness gave things a very sterile look, and the floating mask things made the whole thing feel very creepy. Great job!

I really wish there were checkpoints though. I got caught three times, and having to start over every time was tedious.

Minnie & Mal by Kharza 2013-04-30T21:23:00

I like the models and shadings. Looking forward to see the #onegameamonth version. :-)

They Don't Stop Coming by SmallDeadGuy 2013-05-02T20:21:00

Unfortunately, a window manager bug brought me to a point where I couldn't continue. Up until that point, I loved every moment of it.

The music is awesome. Really puts me at ease and gives me nostalgia. The puzzle mechanic in itself works very well. Great job! :)

MBlok by tSwitch 2013-04-30T19:41:00

I'm impressed by the level of polish you managed to get into the game, it feels like a very complete package.

The gravity part is a nice touch. I like it! :D

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Professor Power and Powerbot by HeyChinaski 2013-08-26T23:57:00

That was a lot of fun! The core mechanic worked well, and the levels were just the right length. Got hooked on it, and spent a good five minutes screaming at the last level. :D

I have two suggestions for improvements. The death animation is a bit on the long side for a game where you die a lot. In a similar vein, I wanted a suicide button for when you know it's hopeless.

On a personal level, it was fun to see how we handled the same concept so differently. I enjoyed the fast gameplay in yours a lot! Great job! :D

Castle Clocksworth by My Sweet Whomp 2013-09-16T22:04:00

This is hands-down my favorite jam entry. The music and art is amazing, and the gameplay is really fun. And with steam punk added to the mix, oh man. The chain sword is delicious.

Two minor things: It could need some more indication that time is about to reset. Also, what's with the bullets at the end? Are you going shmup? ;)

I would really like to see you continue to develop this. It's got too much potential to leave an LD entry!

PS: Can I have a download for the soundtrack? :D

Seconds of Light by kristof 2013-09-16T21:52:00

The dogs(?) and torch mechanic made it far more creepy than I expected. :D

I think this works very well, and it was genuinely scary every time the torch started to fade out. The graphics and audio served it well. I think it's a good thing that there was no music. Silence and demon eyes closing in on you...

Only niggle is that it's a bit too easy to make the game unwinnable by cornering the dog with the key on the last level. Did it twice and had to start over... :'(

That tiny thing aside, I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for making this, excellent work! :D

10 Seconds to Clear by Foxtacy 2013-08-27T00:18:00

That was awesome, I was laughing and screaming "Nuuuuuu!" throughout the whole thing.

Some of the mouse bits were really evil. Thank you for making this. :)

Ten Seconds Second by soulrot 2013-09-16T22:48:00

I like the concept a lot. I wish the walls were transparent or that you could rotate the camera; it was kind of a pain to get to some of the units and see some of the traps. I'm also not 100% sure I finished the second level like it was supposed to. (I just made an all-out charge for the exit)

Niggles aside, I think you made a great entry. There's variety in terms of obstructions, and there were interesting level design elements. It's a bit rough, but I think it got potential.

Looking forward to see what you guys come up with in future jams! :D

TimeStep by Jellycakes 2013-09-16T21:23:00

This one brought back fond memories of Wolfenstein 3D and Blake Stone! The pathfinding made it a bit easier than it should have been, but it's a really fun piece. :)

The mechanics work well and the graphics and sound were surprisingly effective. Make the enemies a little smarter and add some more variety, and I think you got a good piece for Kongregate here. :)

The Ones You Love by zatyka 2013-08-28T23:03:00

Woah. :)

This was excellently put together. Your twist on the theme is very original, and the game mixes a good message with a great presentation; art, music, the works. :)

I'm stunned. All hats off!

War Horse Of Impeccible Desert Taste And Cannons by commanderstitch 2013-08-28T21:41:00

I got confused and gave up. :(

I cleared out the level of enemies, then I went into the blue room, and when I came out, they were all back. :(

The tile set also makes it a little hard to tell obstructions from tiles.

Those niggles aside, when the game was crowded, it was crazy, hectic fun. I think it has a lot of potential if you can make it a bit more approachable. :)

Sound effects were great.

The time lapse was fascinating to watch. I can't believe the rate you crank out working code at. :D

Tactical Mission by HunLyxxod 2013-09-15T22:47:00

I'm really, really impressed with the mechanics here, and the presentation is gorgeous (I really love the arrows). Two of the levels are a bit daunting compared to the rest, but all in all, you did an amazing job on this. I can't believe you pulled out a rewind mechanic this polished in just 48 hours.

All it needs now is more levels and some ambient military music. :)

10SecTD by joekinglake 2013-09-16T21:12:00

Yikes, things to nutty in the end. I was going to remark that it was a bit on the easy side, but then the last waves happened! D:

For 48 hours, this is a very polished (and fun) TD game. I like the simplicity (unlike most, I'm not a fan of upgrades), the graphics and the ambient music. Great job! :)

Billy! Cleanup on aisle 5! by endermath 2013-08-28T20:39:00

The Game Over and level title screens are a bit on the lengthy side. I failed a lot and the waits got annoying. D:

Fun concept though, and the sprites are great. Love the old man. And I'm envious of your music work. :)

Annoyingly, the pybox2d that ships with Ubuntu is 2.0.2 and crashes the game. :(

Steps snipped from the pybox2d page:
sudo apt-get install build-essential python-dev swig python-pygame subversion
svn checkout http://pybox2d.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ pybox2d
cd pybox2d
python setup.py build
sudo python setup.py install --force

Solitude by rxi 2013-09-04T21:34:00

The music (oh the MUSIC) and mood of this game was incredibly serene and mysterious, and everything meshed well together. Length seemed well balanced too. I'm in awe. :)

My only niggle would be that the notes can be a bit hard to find. I ended up doing four round-trips of the entire level to find the last one.

Apart from that, just incredible. Wow.

Guest House by cardboard 2013-08-28T16:39:00

Man, the music... I let it play for a long time because it was so soothing. :)

I also enjoyed the heavy atmosphere, and the clay backgrounds really sets it apart.

As for the puzzles. Well. I'm glad there were hints available. ;-)

Thade by Aurel Bílý 2013-08-26T22:44:00

I've never, ever been so stressed by a game of Lights Out. I even think I worked up a sweat. I never ever expected that. It's incredible how much the timer and story changed the feeling of these games.

Overall, I enjoyed it a lot, despite the constant crushing claustrophobia of impending death. :-)

I only have two criticisms. First, the mechanic wasn't always obvious. I was able to guess the other ones, but the peg jumping made me have to ask. Maybe a hint button would have been nice, but given the theme, it might be better without. The lack of understanding leading to increased frustration and despair. So maybe you should just disregard this one.

The second one seems to be echoed by others; give a restart button if people fail the initial puzzle. It's annoying to have to go by the menu. (I had to do so three times).

Apart from that, top marks. I'm stunned!

Worst Gnome at the Factory by Crowbeak 2013-09-01T19:05:00

That was haaaaard. The core gameplay is solid, but it's a bit hard to keep track of what the switches do. Apart from the wall of text at the start, there's no indication what effects they have ingame (or on the game over screen).

Would help a lot if it said +Pazzles under the Frimurderer, etc. Apart from that, great job! :)

Oh, and because of the Game Over jingle, you now owe me a new keyboard. Shouldn't have been drinking water while playing. D;

The Worst Meeting EVER by BipoleMoment 2013-09-15T20:47:00

Clever take on things. It was refreshing to see an "interactive fiction" entry, and enjoyed the writing. :)

I was terrified for a while that it would turn into one of those "which one lies" logical puzzles, and was relieved when it didn't. Funny stuff and really unexpected twists, great job! :)

Feeding Time by TimBeaudet 2013-08-28T22:19:00

The game was good fun until that. One. Level. FSFSFSFSGSG. The frogs had me yelling at the screen.

I enjoyed the game immensely up to that point. The graphics are cute, and the music is nice. The levels were pretty decent until the last one.

A post-LD version with more (possible to finish!) levels is very welcome. Good job. :)

Meowfinity and Beyond by Cryovat 2013-08-26T23:37:00

Thank you for the really nice comments. :)

Seems like the tractor beam track is giving everybody problems. I regret not taking it out. :(

Meowfinity and Beyond by Cryovat 2013-08-30T05:46:00

Hi everybody, thanks for your nice comments. :)

The slowdown is intentional. Since you're at half power, you get half speed. To get through the blue beam trap, you need to have more than five seconds remaining. Try walking directly through it. Don't jump!

Meowfinity and Beyond by Cryovat 2013-09-16T23:43:00

Thanks for all the nice comments. You all make feel all warm and fuzzy! <3

Making the jumping less awkward and better (chase) camera are things that are coming to the post-LD version. :)

Meowfinity and Beyond by Cryovat 2013-09-17T00:07:00

It's not as hard as you think. You just walk through it while you have > 5 seconds of time. :)

10 Seconds and The Wizard by michail 2013-09-04T19:54:00

I liked the theme (risque aspects aside) and the music. It's always nice to see an adventure game. :)

Unfortunately, some of the puzzles didn't work so well with me; my mousing isn't precise enough. I really wanted to go on, but after a few dozen attempts at the room with the sliding key drawer, I had to call it quits.

Shame though, because I enjoyed the rest of the game a lot. Good effort!

Time Trapped by killerstarbunny 2013-09-15T22:34:00

I gave this several goes and got to the second level once, but at some point for a bit frustrated and gave up. Death felt a bit too random.

You did a great job on the time travel mechanic, and the paradox images cracked me up. With a weekend or two more of love, I think you can make a solid game out of this. :)

(also, the music was awesome)

PROBE TEAM by Andrew Shouldice 2013-09-04T22:19:00

I had a lot of fun with this one. The art style and sounds fit very well together, and every time I unlocked a new place to go, it was satisfying and exciting.

Difficulty seemed well balanced. Ending was close to perfect. :-)

Great job!

Film Leader by PixelArtM 2013-08-26T22:55:00

Despite numerous attempts, I couldn't get past 3000. :(

The core mechanic fun once you get used to the controls, but the film rolls were annoying. Do they move randomly? They always seemed to be in places that made it hard to finish the level, and then I had to start over from scratch.

The graphics and presentation was nice. Surprisingly tense and addictive. :)

Diesel May Care: Quest For The Ten-Second Car by nintendoeats 2013-08-27T20:48:00

8.21!

The main screenshot scared the heck out of me, but it was as straight forward as advertised once I got into it. The mechanic was fun in itself (although I never understood if I had any way to affect how much time I had available during rip-off sessions). Where the game really shines is the writing, excellent work. You had me laughing throughout. :)

Day of the Vampire by drilltail 2013-09-04T18:24:00

Oh god, the line is coming!!!

I liked the game a lot. The mechanics are interesting and the levels seemed to be the perfect length to explore them. And the vampire is cute. :3

Your use of the theme worked well. If anything, I'd have wished for a clearer indication of when the times were about to flip. Like an hourglass, progress bar or similar. I was quickly able to learn the timing well enough to exploit it though.

Minor niggle aside, excellent game, great job!

Richard Was Afraid Of The Dark by Atmospherium 2013-08-27T21:41:00

I see you have a thing for normal maps. ;-)

The art style and music worked very well for the narrative. I agree that the controls were a bit floaty. It was only a problem in the open spaces though. In the narrow passages it felt fine. Music fit like a glove.

I was honestly expecting an ending where Cthulhu would eat Richard, so was good to see a happy ending. Or was it? ;)

For being your first game, this is a strong showing. Great job! :-)

Micro Management Simulator 2013 by daOyster 2013-08-26T21:58:00

I was about to comment that it would be better if the difficulty ramped up gradually with an increasing number of employees (the core mechanic is fun).

Then it dawned on me how genious this game's take on the theme is. daOyster, my hat off to you!

Chrono Blood Ninja by theholychicken 2013-09-15T21:26:00

The controls were perfect, and I loved the blood effects. It got a bit repetitive after I passed 400 kills, but the core gameplay mechanic works very, very well.

My only criticism is that it's a bit easy to get stuck and lose precious time, but that got better with practice.

You're going in the right direction with the post-compo version. Add some upgrades and larger enemies, and it will be a great title. Excellent job, hats off! :)

ShuffleLand by rincewind_cz 2013-09-16T23:37:00

I'm afraid the gameplay isn't quite my cup of tea, so I ended up ragequitting after skipping some levels and wasting my remaining seconds. I think the mechanics are interesting though, and it's a very polished package.

I liked the music, and it meshed well with the art style. It all feels friendly and whimsical. Not quite for me, but still an excellent piece of work. Well done! :)

PS: I love your nick! :D

Kitty Force 10 by Raiyumi 2013-09-04T19:40:00

I'm very envious of your superior kitten-themed ten second platformer. :'(

More seriously; that was great. I loved the visual style and can't believe how much polish you were able to fit into it. The music worked well and it was nice to see you incorporate such a variety of mechanics.

I just wish it was slightly more forgiving. From the saw blades and on it got rather punishing, and the dots gave me over fifteen minutes of grief.

That aside, amazing job. All hats off, congratulations! :)

Lepton Epoch by Jacob123 2013-09-15T21:11:00

You win the award for the most cosmological take on the theme. :D

I had fun with this! It was the right length and had a nice difficulty curve. Art was basic, but served the game well. It got a bit stressful when the player lost speed and the edge of the screen was "catching up".

I kind of agree with the suggestions of less lives. Apart from that, it's fun and the tweaks you made to the post-compo version made it even better. Great job! :D

AEREO by manuq 2013-09-16T22:19:00

Congratulations for finishing your first LD. You should be should be proud, this is a strong first entry. :)

I'm envious of your drawing skills. The hand drawn look and background color gave it a very zen look. All it needs is a touch of ambient music. Great work! :)

Time Ghost by Sephiroth87 2013-08-26T23:26:00

Yay for Löve!

I only got about nine or ten levels into it. My brain doesn't lend itself very good to memory based games. Once the number of switches ramped up, I started to lose track of what they did, and at that point, the cost of experimentation got very high (having to wait for past ghosts to clear out, etc. Otherwise I got confused by who-does-what). For players like me, a "reset" button and potentially a hint button (which switch toggles what) would help a lot.

I think the core mechanic is solid though, the graphics are cute, and it fits very well with the theme. Good job! :)

The 10 (other) Seconds Journey by PaperBlurt 2013-08-28T21:10:00

...wh... what. Rock Hudson? Titanic.. My head hurts. This is hillarious, but so, so confusing... And my sides hurt too. And my eyes are full of tears. :D

My hat off to you!

Wordz by Grafter 2013-09-16T21:03:00

These games are always incredibly addicting, and yours is no exception. :D

The hard time limit gives it that magical "just one more time and I'll hit 60" factor.

I just have two pieces of criticism. I and T are a bit on the similar side. Also, it would make it a bit easier if you could submit or reset with the keyboard (or if it auto-reset upon invalid words).

Minor niggles aside, a lot of fun, nice job. :D

Mebby by 7Soul 2013-08-27T00:39:00

I tried to figure out which drugs you were on when you made it, and realized it must be ALL OF THEM.

(review of game coming tomorrow)

Mebby by 7Soul 2013-08-28T21:53:00

THE FACE!

This is probably the trippiest game I've played since Space Giraffe, and it's a lot of fun. The graphics and presentation is amazing.

I just wish it was a twin stick shooter. The current controls are too weird, and detract a bit from the experience. Feels a bit like you're battling the controls while trying to avoid the flying tiki heads.

Lots of fun though. And the graphics, the sounds and presentation of the thing is just mindblowing.

10 Second Roguelike by BadgerPriest 2013-09-17T00:14:00

I slayed the dragon. Got a good laugh out of the concept and the game play was fun.

As for the music and sound. Woah. That was amazing. It sounds like something out of a commercial title. Excellent work. :)

Cosplay Temp by SusanTheCat 2013-08-28T21:00:00

Why do you get a bonus for bringing a leash to a babysitter job? Is this some kind of statement about child rearing? Oh, and I got the organ harvesting ending. :D

I liked the game, but it got a bit repetitive once you figured out a strategy. Found a way to get to executive assistant in about six or seven turns, and from then it was just grinding the same. The music and art was great.

Is it the job choice or amount of money that decides the costume outcome?

Anyway, fun game. Great job! :)

Hair Cop by PixelRebirth 2013-09-15T22:15:00

I loved this. At the beginning I felt it was a bit on the hard side, but once I got used to it, it all worked very well. Loved the NES-style graphics (it seriously looks like a retail title from the eighties, impressive work!). The sound effects fit, all it lacks is a heroic soundtrack.

I'm a fan, hats off! :)

The only one by JaJ 2013-09-16T22:30:00

Woah, from the main screenshot, I didn't expect the game to get that sad. :(

It's a stunning piece. I'm in love with the graphics and music. and your take on the theme is original and works well. Pacing seems finely tuned too. Hats off! :D

Maximilian Lambda Caster by Jwatt 2013-09-16T23:47:00

The music was great and gave me a strong Touhou vibe. The gameplay has interesting elements but is a bit on the chaotic side. Interesting piece. :)

Deadline by Kharza 2013-09-16T23:24:00

Woah Kharza, you outdid yourself with this one! It looks great and the story is fun. Maybe a bit dry for some, but worked great for me. :)

I daresay the font choice was terrible. Apart from that, I loved it. Puzzles were just hard enough and exploring the (surprisingly big) ship was fun.

Hats off man, excellent work!

Penguin Racer Go Go by refreshgames 2013-08-28T22:48:00

Like urth, I had to call it quits after one lap. It's a lot of fun and the mechanics work well, but the level is too hard for me. :'(

Especially the placement of the snow is a work of pure evil. It's always there to crush your dreams right in front of a checkpoint. D:

Apart from the difficulty, I think it's a very well put together package. Graphics were on par with a certain other arctic creature racing game (an achievement considering the time frame) and the music and audio fit well.

Great job! :D

Just make some easier tracks now!

Ludicrous Parking by Yell0w 2013-08-27T00:53:00

Congrats for finishing your first LD and yay for fellow Lovers! :)

The concept is good and there's potential for a good game in here if you keep working at it. I'm interested in seeing where you can take this. :)

It lasts longer when you're a genius by Darien 2013-08-28T20:21:00

6.74. Perfect run! :D

This is the first time I've seen Einstein implicated in intergalactic ice cream discovery. The writing is hilarious.

The gameplay itself was pretty fun too. Got pretty hectic at the end. I think it would have benefit from a rising tone indicating speed. Apart from that, nice work! :)

I'll Give You A Head Start by Tifu 2013-09-16T21:38:00

I didn't expect any LD game to get me so tensed up. Every time she cornered me, I was shouting at the monitor. D:

The light mechanic is a bit on the hard side; it made the game feel a bit flickery. If it had two or three levels of brightness, it would feel a bit more stable. The rooms also felt a bit samey, which hurt navigation a little.

Apart from that, I'm impressed by what you were able to pull off in such a short time span. It doesn't feel like a LD game (in the good sense); the school felt substantially big, and having randomized item locations makes it more re-playable. Also, the death animation is delightfully creepy.

I kind of disagree with VDZ about music though. Some feint sound cues might add to the game, but I felt like the silence helped build atmosphere. You're standing there all alone in the darkness and OH MY GOD THERE SHE IS.

I'm hoping that you will give this some extra love in a post-LD version. I really liked it. :)

Dango Rush by ghRibacki 2013-08-27T22:12:00

After numerous attempts, I was finally able to find my girlfriend and start a great Dango family. :D

I got really hooked on it, and had a lot of fun. I probably played it for half an hour, and the music didn't get old.

I have two pieces of criticism though. The level generator needs work. Some times there would be the same mob in every room and never a single upgrade. Another time, the first room held the orange upgrade. And the most interesting enemies seem to show up way too rarely.

The other thing is that it's too easy to walk right into a bullet when changing rooms. This just feels unfair.

Please, keep working on this. If you can address these issues and add more variety, it will be a great little game. :D

Decim Dungeons by pighead10 2013-09-15T21:46:00

The core mechanic here is interesting and has a lot of potential. The levels are a bit on the easy side, and it would help with an indicator of how many times you can use each item. I also got a feeling that I didn't always finish them "the right way".

Would be interesting to see where you can take this. Nicely done, and great take on the theme. :)

ROBOT PLANET by GeorgeBroussard 2013-09-17T00:26:00

I escaped Robot Planet! :D

I loved it. The graphics, effects and sound just works wonderfully together, and the resource management made it tense.

Managed it on the first attempt, but had a lot of very close calls along the way. Excellent work! :D

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

RoboCopter Bomb Squad by RARoadkill 2014-04-29T23:18:00

This brought back nice memories of Descent. The core concept is solid and it looks great. Only complaint is that the combat gets a bit repetitive.

I have to join in on the size complaints though; a gig of hard drive space for an LD game is too much.

Squddingly Splendid Diving Simulator by Cryovat 2014-04-29T01:04:00

Thanks guys. :D

@microapple: To give credit where credit is due; the grunt work of the AI is done by the A* implementation in Impact++. I just sabotaged it and made it stupid. :D
@person123: Yeah. I haven't been able to get to the bottom of it. :(
@muramasa: Thanks. The air tanks are actually all there, but

Submarine of Death by tsjost 2014-04-29T00:51:00

Monsters killed: 192
Torpedoes fired: 219

It ramps up quickly. D:

It's simple, but fun. And it feels fair, I never had them spawn in a way that seemed impossible. Nice little piece, and props for getting your nephew involved! :D

You are now the Dungeon! by Cosrnos 2014-04-29T23:01:00

Management game? Awesome!

I think the core game concept here is great, and the interface works very well. The only thing that irks me a bit is that it doesn't feel properly balanced. You can build more or less everything off the bat, and the dungeon either turns out too easy or too hard. Since there's no way to lose either, it lacks a bit of tension.

Might be me misunderstanding something, but the heroes seem very likely to just hang out around the entrance?

(Sorry if this sounded overtly negative. I enjoyed it, and writing this because I want to see it tweaked and envolved. Also, I really like the music!)

What Happened? by person124 2014-04-29T22:41:00

Surreal! The jumping gave me a bit trouble (felt a bit floaty), and I clipped through the floor a couple of times, but apart from that, it was a fun ride. :)

Was interesting to see where the story went, nice work. :D

Gravedigger 20XX by muramasa 2014-04-29T00:17:00

I ended up giving up after dying somewhere between ten and twenty times to the boss. That aside, I'm in awe of what you've been able to do in just 48 hours. The graphics and music is just perfect.

With just a bit of adjustment to the boss, I think this will be a classic LD game. :)

Atomicle - LostAutumn.net by AutumnGuy 2014-04-29T00:25:00

Damn, I hate people who manage to find (and execute!) so simple and addictive concepts.

Really like this, and the music/mood is just perfect for it. :)

Beneath The Surface by adamwoolridge 2014-04-29T00:28:00

This gave me warm fuzzy memories of Rez. :)

I really like the presentation and concept. I really wish I had some kind of defense against the missiles though. Might be my playstyle, but it takes me quite a bit of time to get through the shells, so it feels a bit unfair. Maybe if the laser did a bit more damage... (hint, hint)

Niggles aside, I like it a lot. :)

Badass Pinguin by theundeadwarrior 2014-04-29T23:09:00

Run and jump games tend to be very fun, and this is no exception! The music is and art is wonderful too. Great job! :)

You Must SMASH! by microapple 2014-04-29T22:27:00

I thought it seemed to lack a challenge until I noticed the running timer. Man it gets hectic. :D

Would be interesting to see how powerups could mix things up. Overall, great stuff. :)

Subocula by DrMelon 2014-04-29T00:57:00

I agree that the controls need a little bit of work, and cooldown time is too long.

Those things aside, I'm a sucker for creepy things like this, and the ending cracked me up. :)

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Heart Star by AdventureIslands 2014-08-27T21:19:00

The degree of polish on this thing is incredible. Gameplay is great, length is long enough to explore all concepts but not wear them out, graphics are awesome... Amazing work! :)

Blue Screen by varun 2014-08-27T21:52:00

Nice stealth game. Voice is a bit hard to make out, but really good presentation. :)

The Great Black by Cryovat 2014-08-26T21:38:00

Thanks a lot for the comments. :)

@shashwat: I wholeheartedly agree. I never had time to balance it, so you're pretty dependant on a good spawning location. :(

Journey Home by CRAZEERUSKEE 2014-08-26T20:01:00

Definitely the most psychedelic game of LD30. :D

I like the dreamlike atmosphere and alien feel. Could have needed a few extra levels. Good job! :)

Solar Collider by Integershift 2014-08-26T21:20:00

Got a measly 38. :(

I like the concept. It's well executed, and got the makings to be a very addictive game with some more polish and a bit more variation (the meteor shower is a great touch!). :)

Damnit, now I crave pizza. :D

Sunny Days by Jacob123 2014-08-26T19:18:00

Very cute art style. Jumping felt a little heavy, but overall a fun little game. :D

elemens by Steve | tacospice 2014-08-26T21:09:00

I'm really impressed you were able to pull this off in 48 hours. The graphics and music is awesome and the worlds are compelling.

You need to extend this. Seriously!

Nemesis by deadpixelsociety 2014-08-27T22:26:00

The mechanic is addictive. Had a lot of fun throwing planets into the sun (best score: 30255).

Only criticism is that it's a bit too easy to get lost. Would like an indicator where the sun is, and maybe a visual effect showing that I'm successfully tethered (so I don't ram myself into a planet and get destroyed).

That said, awesome entry! :)

Hello Worlds by dustyroom 2014-08-27T21:36:00

The hit detection is a bit hard, but amazing concept and execution. I love the graphics and music. This is really good. :)

Enduring Atlas by dickpoelen 2014-08-26T21:40:00

The rules are a bit too dense for me, but it's a very refreshing and different concept. The art and music is amazing and it's a very original take on the theme, I'm in awe. :)

(Rated this based on AtomicVikings' stream since I didn't have anyone around to try it with)

Superdimensional by PixelMind 2014-08-27T22:52:00

The atmosphere in this game is amazing and it has a really creepy otherworld feel to it. Loved it. :)

> Continue by ratking 2014-08-26T19:09:00

I like the presentation and concept a lot. The graphical style and music sets a nice mood and I like the outset. Going to be interesting to come back and see where people take the story. :)

NOODLE FEELING by Magdev 2014-08-27T07:29:00

This game has changed my life and shown me the real truth of the universe. NOODLE!

Chris and Roddy by C_Walden 2014-08-26T19:40:00

Very nice graphics, great effects and cool concept. Great job! :)

No world left behind by Horridgames 2014-08-27T07:21:00

Aiming is a little hard, but good core mechanic. It gets hectic fast! :D

I love the tentacle effect and the soundtrack. Great job! :)

Bumper Planets by Altourus 2014-08-26T20:06:00

1841! I love the concept and it would be great with a few tweaks. Hitting the planets is a bit fiddly, and it's going to get hard to hit them in time.

Would like to see a touch version of this for Android! :)

Pulley Planet by Patacorow 2014-08-26T20:25:00

This definitely goes into the "I hate you for being so talented" category. :-)

Amazing graphics and sound effects, and really addictive game-play. Took me a while to get used to the mechanic, until that I was button-mashing like crazy.

I have a feeling this will be the LD30 jam winner. :)

A World Apart by pighead10 2014-08-28T00:00:00

I enjoyed the core mechanic, but the purple spheres overloaded my poor brain. :(

Apart from that part (I feel no shame I skipped stage 5; great feature btw!) I had lots of fun. Nice music too, great job!

LD36 — Ancient Technology

EverDown by Ryusui 2016-08-30T02:04:00

Everything works wonderfully here, the mechanic and controls are great, and the graphics are fitting.

Only slight criticism is that the music doesn't feel like it conveys the urgency of a huge laster following you. Apart from that I like it, reminds me of 10000000. :)

I hope you adapt this into a mobile game. It could fit very well on the platform!

Village Store by euske 2016-08-31T22:32:00

I really need to study mental arithmetic, the adding up was way harder than it ought to be!

Really good concept and execution here, and the graphics and music works well. Great game! :)

The Pyramid by pighead10 2016-09-01T00:11:00

The mechanic here is really cool! It's a solid game concept, nice trust/betrayal mechanic, and the enemies in the pyramid are terrifying. I also like the selection of powerups and traps. With a little bit of balancing and polish, this could be a great online party game!

And I'm still in awe you were able to pull off all this during the jam. :)
