I liked the mood in this. Wasn't much gameplay in it, though. But nice.

I liked the mood in this. Wasn't much gameplay in it, though. But nice.
I loved the particles and graphics! Also a nice concept. :) Very nice. This would make a nice app.
Very cool. I interpreted the theme being a fix of evolution and survival of the fittest :D It felt pretty cool walking around fighting my own species, and then realizing sometimes when a more developed race appears, it sorta scares you for a moment, sort of tells you how it would feel to be a real animal walking around in nature encountering a more dangerous and bigger animal :)
Very fun. :) I liked it. The graphics were simple, but nice, but could do more with the graphics if you're gonna keep working on this game. My only complaint would be to change controls so that you move with WASD and shoot with arrows :p The game has the same control scheme as binding of isaac, but in that game you shoot with arrows, so that's why I was suggesting it xD
I was so close to win like 600 at the run part, in like the last 2 seconds mine was in the lead, then an other, then me, and finally the other. xD Pretty nice idea. I actually found it to be pretty fun.
^ listen to this guy
Graphics and sound were amazing! Loved the 3D backgrounds.
Such a good mood, and nice music :)
innovation 5/5!
Innovation!
I felt like I was an octopus in space flying around the void. On the other hand, due to the gravity being very weak, I also felt like I could be underwater, swimming around. It really makes me wanna go scuba diving and feel the same way! This game really had a great mood around it, created by the mindless soaring around and the ambient music. So nice...
My interpretation: It's about how people have spent their time through the years, guy starts out living outside, then he has a tent, then a house, then he reads a book, and later he's using a laptop/computer. It's pretty interesting, and it does count as an evolution of how we are spending our spare times.
Innovative. I liked the way that it added stress to the game, that the options kept rolling, so you had to be lucky and quick.
Charming game. Level 3 was too hard for me, didn't really like the flying parts. The graphics are awesome, it reminds me of the 3D platformer games I used to play as a kid. The camera is pretty horrible though, could be more dynamic and placed further away from player. I liked the voice acting "FLAP! FLAP!" :p
I really liked it, brought me back. So much content! I used more than an hour on this. No innovation points though, because, yeah nothing new here. ;) I missed a map in-game... but after being stuck trying to find the hammer, I found out there was a map in the description on the site, and I completed the game after that :D diamond sword and diamond ring and all hearts.

Bugs I noticed:
- Steel sword doesn't damage Bomb Turtles
- Diamond sword doesn't damage Slimes (at least blue, haven't tested the others)
- Sometimes slimes walk places they shouldn't, like when there's a wall they just walk through it.
I also once pushed a Bomb Turtle into the water and it crawled around there :p
Good luck with making it a bigger game.
Absolutely amazing! I had no idea what I was supposed to, I just assumed I had to have a balance between how many blue and red creatures I ate. It's really simple, but the mood of the amazing graphical design and the sound design that collide creates an excellent atmosphere! This is brilliant.
It's awesome. But I would've liked it if I was able to eat the planets too when becoming big enough for that (after I upgraded everything, and just waited and waited and tried to eat some of the smallest planets without luck :P)
It's like... Lemmings. But you make the level instead of conquer it. Very innovative. I found it very hard though, as most of the time I'd just be placing tiles that I couldn't use under the bridge I'd be trying to build. When I had finally built a structure to complete level 2, I ran out of time for the poor guy to reach the goal. So it'd be cool if it was more restricted which tiles you could use, how many you have for each level and so on, and then have the player pick themselves in which order they want to use them, or something.
Give me a chiptune music game and 90s feel and I'm sold! :) 5/5 in audio.
One of my cats is defying gravity...I'm pretty sure that's not a gene. XD Haha. This is pretty funny and innovative. A little hard to control though, I just feel like I'm doing random stuff when modifying their genes.
Nice game. I've gotta admit in the start I was a little confused about what I was doing, I thought I was platforming only, so I tried to jump into the hole to proceed in the level in the first level, only to realize my sudden death :p I usually don't read the descriptions/instructions, as I believe games should be self-explanatory, or at least explain the rules of the game as the game is going on, which is why I didn't know what I was doing in the start.
Haha, I love it. So funny. I love the little jingle that plays - and the ending song is awesome.
I got it to work on my app with the OSX download, apparently I had downloaded a wrong folder before?
Amazing game :D The graphics are really nice, and the level design is clever, lots of small places to go in and find treasure, and nice going with having him evolve one bit at a time, unlocking new places. You never really feel lost, you always know where to go next because of the limitations you notice, so that's great. :)
This would make a great indie game if you continued working on it and made the screen filled with evolutions haha :P I like how the name parodies Dance Dance Revolution.
Pretty cool concept! It felt a bit like new mechanics were introduced too quickly, though; it was something like 3 or 4 new game mechanics each level :O
Really awesome visuals, too.
I'm not one for bullet hell games, but I think this is an awesome execution of the minimalism theme - it stays true to its core of minimalism, and theres a certain beauty to it as you get in to the later levels; and you start getting those huge waves of bullets.
It's crazy that you produced such a polished game in this short amount of time, with randomly generated waves :D congrats yo :D
This is really great; the atmosphere of the entire game is really wholesome and relaxing, and the feeling of brightening up the orb is really sensational! Going from grayscale to these beautiful colour palettes you've created is an awesome feeling.
In the levels where the sky turns yellow it can be a bit difficult to see the ball (this might've been the point? blinding light? hehe)
The gameplay itself was pretty standard, definitely minimalistic, in a good way. The rules were simple, and easy to follow. The actual design of the levels was a bit strange, it seemed like they didn't really take advantage of the circular shape of the game, like they were designed for regular breakout.
Anyway, really awesome game, I've given you 5 stars for Theme, Audio, and Graphics :D
Great job guys :D
Download link is down man :C I'm gonna give you 5 stars for visuals for now, the screenshots look great :D please hurry and fix this download so I can play what looks like an awesome game :)
Remember DROPBOX is a very secure way of managing downloads, a lot of LD participants seem to be using it :D
I'll be checking back a bit later to see if this is up!!
This is awesome, I was laughing the entire time at these super friendly zombies pushing me around XD it sounds strange, but one of my favourite things about this is the shape of the player's body; the way rotating yourself can sometimes give you that extra little decrease in size that lets you slip past the friendly zombies. The mood was awesome, and this is the only game so far I've given 5/5 stars for humor.
Not sure how it ties into the minimalism theme though? The graphics were sorta minimal I guess, but I'm not really sure what your thought processes were here :S
Either way, fun game man, good job :D
I reaaallllly liked this concept, especially the way you're presented with all the upgrade options at the end of every level (I went with damage++ every time, seemed to be pretty OP hehe)
More enemy types would've been really cool, but this has the potential to be turned into a much larger awesome game :D
5/5 from me :D
Probably the best appropriation of Mondrian's work into a game I've ever seen :D this is so full of character, the few little easter eggs you've thrown in (yeah I drove all the way around the dark to see what those white pixels were in the map-image you posted earlier :D ) and the various kinds of cars.
I played a couple of earlier builds of this game, so I was surprised playing this version to see the police cars actually giving chase, it was a nice touch :D
Really innovative concept, man! It seemed like you could sort of "cheat" the first few levels by extruding in small increments - not sure if it would work, but maybe you could add a rule like "you can't extrude twice in the same direction"?
Music and graphics go completely hand-in-hand with the theme.
Couldn't help but give you like a bazillion stars :)
Hey guys, thanks for the positive response and the insightful feedback :) the original concept for this game was something a bit grander, with more interactivity, but we found we just didn't have the time to fit it all in (this was our artist's first time doing a game jam) so we decided to settle for nailing the ambience of the game, and turn it into something simple but relaxing.
We do admit that it turned out to be something of a walking simulator, a tad short on gameplay, so we don't really expect everyone to get to the "end".
Anyway, thanks again :)
This was really great, the controls were tight as heck once you learned them (I spent a little bit too long tapping UP instead of Z to latch onto walls hehe) and the swinging mechanic just felt organic and natural.
I didn't really enjoy the way you had to walk through the same area every time to reach further destinations, but it became pretty clear that this "revisiting" was important to the mood and atmosphere of the game.
The way those particles (not sure what they were?) are emitted when you have enough rabbits was an amazing design choice; and the "sunset" palette you used really suited the theme of the game.
This is also a really unique take on the "minimalism" theme, I feel!
Man, really great job, this seems so amazingly polished for the time you spent on it. 5/5 stars for sure
Pretty cool! The art in the first half of the game is really amazing; the characters animations are quite cool, the rope mechanic was fun to learn and play with.
The design of the second area is a little strange though. The black-and-white is great; looks really cool seeing that gleam of white shining through at the entrance, but the plain black boxes are a little boring. It would've looked nice, i think, if you gave them that "rough edge" that the platforms have in the first area.
The wall-collision behaves a little strangely sometimes. It works REALLY well when you're falling, and it feels like you latch onto the wall to save yourself, but when you're just walking around and jumping up steps (like in the first area) it gets a bit tedious how often you catch on to the walls. So maybe the collision isnt the problem, but how you've designed some areas to have these short stair-case like structured that don't utilise the collision well.
Overall guys, really fun little game, I made it right to the end and stole the potato to bring back! This gave makes your strengths very clear (sound design, graphics, a solid engine) and I think with a little more time than 72 hours you could this into something really cool (more graphics, slightly more carefully thought out level design, playtesting) :)
4/5 stars from us :)
This was awesome man, I didn't notice the ever-increasing gravity until about halfway through, but I really like the idea! I feel like the level design didn't really take advantage of the increasing gravity, at a gameplay level.
Your pixel art is awesome; the slight animation on the belt of the robot is cool touch, and the shades of green you used are all lovely :D
The ending was quite cool :) how'd the flower get there? :O
Graphics and music were both awesome, and really fitting!
Really brilliant game mechanic, with amazing graphics to boot :D short, but not to a fault - I cant get over that you made all this in 48 hours, wow XD
This is really amazing, some of the best pixel art I've ever seen (inside AND outside this compo) it really is beautiful! The music too :O so relaxing and tranquil.
I can definitely sympathise with only having time to make 1 level, and I also can't wait to play more :D
Amazing as always :D
Beautiful music and art, and the sentiment of being "deserving" actually really struck a chord with me :S
Great work.
Ah, this is awesome! I like how a lot of things were using the 10 second mechanic, and it was in a good way. It wasn't you can only shoot every 10 seconds, but once you hit an enemy, you get a 10 second cool down. Since the 10 second theme as really a theme here with both the weapon cool down, the timed events, the time until you lost some health while in no gravity, and the mainframe explosion time, it really made it feel like a cohesive gameplay experience to me. The music set a great mood too, and the difficulty curve was very nice.
I think the graphics were nicely crafted, but they didn't stand up to your last entry Tessitron's low poly flat shaded art direction to me, but that's also an unfair comparison since it's one of my favourite graphical styles.
Great game overall. :)
The sound design in this is really great, had me grinning the whole time haha! The controls were also really smooth, and the art cute as heck.
It feels like a really complete package, all parts complimenting each other, so cool
I liked the art direction, subtle shaders and simple ragdoll-ish characters. Once you got the hang of the controls (sorta), it felt pretty fun traversing around the randomly generated building, shooting down the bad guys and then progressing to the next room. I found the controls to be sort of limiting to the player, aiming and movement shouldn't be unified in my opinion, it should be a seperate thing - I'm not sure if this was something you did as a design choice to add onto the difficulty or a technical limit, but I'd hope you make the game more accessible in your post-combo version. Overall, I thought it was a fair game, that could become pretty fun with some tweaks :)
Very cool. The atmosphere is really good in this one, and I felt rewarded with the main character's little speech each time you complete a major segment :)
Coolest game of the entire jam. I mean I'm not actually sure yet, I haven't played them all, but this is really flippin amazing.
The way the entire level stretches into the horizon like that is something I've never seen done before, and it felt epic to be walking towards the metagolem like that - it gave it a really good build up.
I managed to get all 3 endings, finding all the black orbs (and keeping them black) was challenging, and really gave strength to the "10 seconds in the sun" mechanic - the first time I played the game I thought the sun mechanic was tacked-on and unnecessary, but the NYX ending really validated it :D
This game is completely innovative, unlike anything I've played :D
Didnt really see too much of the theme, but it's an interesting concept!
This is the best thing that i have ever
wow
I LOVE THIS. Particles EVERYWHERE. I love particles. Man this is really fun. My final score was 15510. Did I do good? I would suggest something about jumping down from a ledge and then losing my momentum by hitting a wall, but WHO CARES particles everywhere!! :D 5/5 fun, 4/5 overall
Really great concept, really fun game :D only thing I'd point out is the "spam screen full of food" trick :P maybe a budget/max amount of money to spend on food per mission?
Probably something you've already thought of :P
Anyway, great art + game :D
Woah this is a really interesting concept, great work :O
