LD22 — Alone

ForeverAloneKitten by Snowflower 2011-12-19T09:48:00

I liked the mood in this. Wasn't much gameplay in it, though. But nice.

LD24 — Evolution

Panspermia by Carl Graves 2012-08-29T23:17:00

I loved the particles and graphics! Also a nice concept. :) Very nice. This would make a nice app.

Dinosaur Survival Bash!! by Orni 2012-08-28T17:33:00

Very cool. I interpreted the theme being a fix of evolution and survival of the fittest :D It felt pretty cool walking around fighting my own species, and then realizing sometimes when a more developed race appears, it sorta scares you for a moment, sort of tells you how it would feel to be a real animal walking around in nature encountering a more dangerous and bigger animal :)

Evolutionator! by CataclysmicKnight 2012-08-29T12:00:00

Very fun. :) I liked it. The graphics were simple, but nice, but could do more with the graphics if you're gonna keep working on this game. My only complaint would be to change controls so that you move with WASD and shoot with arrows :p The game has the same control scheme as binding of isaac, but in that game you shoot with arrows, so that's why I was suggesting it xD

Negemon by 01010111 2012-08-29T12:59:00

I was killed my mother earth ;_; This is so awesome. Not much gameplay, but the graphics are gorgeous and the humor is great. Love the Game Boy color scheme.

Darwin Games 2012 by Bemmu 2012-08-29T13:48:00

I was so close to win like 600 at the run part, in like the last 2 seconds mine was in the lead, then an other, then me, and finally the other. xD Pretty nice idea. I actually found it to be pretty fun.

LimiT by Sakuyan 2012-08-29T17:01:00

Haha, it felt really scary when you were eating like planets, and galaxies and in the end the universe, great mood points for that.

evolution of monsters by mohammad 2012-08-30T09:22:00

^ listen to this guy

Fall Of The Ark by rekcahdam 2012-09-01T10:27:00

Graphics and sound were amazing! Loved the 3D backgrounds.

Pursuit Of True Self by Kyoutashan 2012-08-29T20:18:00

Such a good mood, and nice music :)

Mesh by SimianLogic 2012-08-29T12:03:00

innovation 5/5!

Hard Life 3X by echa 2012-08-31T11:07:00

Innovation!

Squid-wyn Happily Cleans Up Creationist Propaganda by pansapiens 2012-08-29T15:38:00

I felt like I was an octopus in space flying around the void. On the other hand, due to the gravity being very weak, I also felt like I could be underwater, swimming around. It really makes me wanna go scuba diving and feel the same way! This game really had a great mood around it, created by the mindless soaring around and the ambient music. So nice...

Breuoakt by Dan C 2012-08-29T11:47:00

I liked the feature where you had to give the ball velocity with the paddle :) haven't seen that in a breakout game before. innovation points!!1

Aniee by dacap 2012-08-29T12:35:00

My interpretation: It's about how people have spent their time through the years, guy starts out living outside, then he has a tent, then a house, then he reads a book, and later he's using a laptop/computer. It's pretty interesting, and it does count as an evolution of how we are spending our spare times.

Walkabot by krangGAMES 2012-09-01T18:22:00

Innovative. I liked the way that it added stress to the game, that the options kept rolling, so you had to be lucky and quick.

32 Amoebas by EricTheCoolDude 2012-08-29T15:00:00

Charming game. Level 3 was too hard for me, didn't really like the flying parts. The graphics are awesome, it reminds me of the 3D platformer games I used to play as a kid. The camera is pretty horrible though, could be more dynamic and placed further away from player. I liked the voice acting "FLAP! FLAP!" :p

Advancer by Knighty 2012-08-30T17:29:00

Nice job. I first realized I had a sword when I was fighting the boss, so I guess I've been playing on hard mode ;)

The Legend of Elzad by arkeus 2012-08-29T10:42:00

I really liked it, brought me back. So much content! I used more than an hour on this. No innovation points though, because, yeah nothing new here. ;) I missed a map in-game... but after being stuck trying to find the hammer, I found out there was a map in the description on the site, and I completed the game after that :D diamond sword and diamond ring and all hearts.
http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/242/4/2/screen_shot_2012_08_29_at_12_35_17_pm_by_johnjensen-d5cxnz5.png

Bugs I noticed:
- Steel sword doesn't damage Bomb Turtles
- Diamond sword doesn't damage Slimes (at least blue, haven't tested the others)
- Sometimes slimes walk places they shouldn't, like when there's a wall they just walk through it.
I also once pushed a Bomb Turtle into the water and it crawled around there :p

Good luck with making it a bigger game.

The Balance by mr_Hk_ 2012-08-28T22:48:00

Absolutely amazing! I had no idea what I was supposed to, I just assumed I had to have a balance between how many blue and red creatures I ate. It's really simple, but the mood of the amazing graphical design and the sound design that collide creates an excellent atmosphere! This is brilliant.

Space Worm by hamster_mk_4 2012-08-29T14:38:00

It's awesome. But I would've liked it if I was able to eat the planets too when becoming big enough for that (after I upgraded everything, and just waited and waited and tried to eat some of the smallest planets without luck :P)

Old Man Johnson's Lonely Explosion by superjoebob 2012-08-29T13:15:00

It's like... Lemmings. But you make the level instead of conquer it. Very innovative. I found it very hard though, as most of the time I'd just be placing tiles that I couldn't use under the bridge I'd be trying to build. When I had finally built a structure to complete level 2, I ran out of time for the poor guy to reach the goal. So it'd be cool if it was more restricted which tiles you could use, how many you have for each level and so on, and then have the player pick themselves in which order they want to use them, or something.

Upward Mankind by chamberlainpi 2012-08-28T18:28:00

Give me a chiptune music game and 90s feel and I'm sold! :) 5/5 in audio.

Space Ham by FunByJohn 2012-08-27T09:26:00

Eyehawk: I have no idea. Just started coding the tongue and the other gameplay concepts came to me xD

Space Ham by FunByJohn 2012-08-28T17:59:00

@chamberlainpi The tongue IS dynamically generated :P curveTo().

Promoted! by 01101101 2012-08-29T16:16:00

It looks gorgeous, but level 2 is pretty hard :p

The Kittelutioning by Norgg 2012-08-29T13:59:00

One of my cats is defying gravity...I'm pretty sure that's not a gene. XD Haha. This is pretty funny and innovative. A little hard to control though, I just feel like I'm doing random stuff when modifying their genes.

The ducks are taking over!! by JaJ 2012-09-01T10:42:00

Nice game. I've gotta admit in the start I was a little confused about what I was doing, I thought I was platforming only, so I tried to jump into the hole to proceed in the level in the first level, only to realize my sudden death :p I usually don't read the descriptions/instructions, as I believe games should be self-explanatory, or at least explain the rules of the game as the game is going on, which is why I didn't know what I was doing in the start.

How evolution really works? by keenblaze 2012-08-29T23:33:00

Haha, I love it. So funny. I love the little jingle that plays - and the ending song is awesome.

Pasazh by harusame 2012-08-28T22:32:00

I'm using OSX and I can't run the .jar. (downloaded linux/osx one), isn't it possible to create an Applet? I really want to try this game :)

Pasazh by harusame 2012-09-01T15:13:00

I got it to work on my app with the OSX download, apparently I had downloaded a wrong folder before?

Amazing game :D The graphics are really nice, and the level design is clever, lots of small places to go in and find treasure, and nice going with having him evolve one bit at a time, unlocking new places. You never really feel lost, you always know where to go next because of the limitations you notice, so that's great. :)

Death Death Evolution by Adhesion 2012-08-29T17:19:00

This would make a great indie game if you continued working on it and made the screen filled with evolutions haha :P I like how the name parodies Dance Dance Revolution.

Evoland by ncannasse 2012-08-29T16:11:00

Entertaining, hilarious, creative and pretty. :D This is really brilliant. Especially the way you unlock features along the way, I was really relieved when I got a health bar. :P And it's got just the right length for a Flash game.

LD26 — Minimalism

Illuminion by Qaterknan 2013-05-05T15:40:00

Pretty cool concept! It felt a bit like new mechanics were introduced too quickly, though; it was something like 3 or 4 new game mechanics each level :O

Really awesome visuals, too.

Nothing Left by Gremlin 2013-05-01T08:17:00

I'm not one for bullet hell games, but I think this is an awesome execution of the minimalism theme - it stays true to its core of minimalism, and theres a certain beauty to it as you get in to the later levels; and you start getting those huge waves of bullets.

It's crazy that you produced such a polished game in this short amount of time, with randomly generated waves :D congrats yo :D

Orb by Grouflon 2013-04-30T12:57:00

This is really great; the atmosphere of the entire game is really wholesome and relaxing, and the feeling of brightening up the orb is really sensational! Going from grayscale to these beautiful colour palettes you've created is an awesome feeling.
In the levels where the sky turns yellow it can be a bit difficult to see the ball (this might've been the point? blinding light? hehe)
The gameplay itself was pretty standard, definitely minimalistic, in a good way. The rules were simple, and easy to follow. The actual design of the levels was a bit strange, it seemed like they didn't really take advantage of the circular shape of the game, like they were designed for regular breakout.
Anyway, really awesome game, I've given you 5 stars for Theme, Audio, and Graphics :D

Great job guys :D

12px by Tenlki 2013-04-30T12:59:00

The animation on that knife is very nice. It's a nicely animated knife. Also what do I do.

Tessitron by radmars 2013-04-30T13:19:00

Wow this game is cool. The low poly graphics, and the feel of just flying around while doing it, keeps it refreshing with new camera angles, and different polygonal shapes. Awesome work. :)

Random Legend Adventure by Captain_Genial 2013-04-30T13:28:00

Download link is down man :C I'm gonna give you 5 stars for visuals for now, the screenshots look great :D please hurry and fix this download so I can play what looks like an awesome game :)

Remember DROPBOX is a very secure way of managing downloads, a lot of LD participants seem to be using it :D

I'll be checking back a bit later to see if this is up!!

Friendly Zombies by druckson 2013-05-01T08:10:00

This is awesome, I was laughing the entire time at these super friendly zombies pushing me around XD it sounds strange, but one of my favourite things about this is the shape of the player's body; the way rotating yourself can sometimes give you that extra little decrease in size that lets you slip past the friendly zombies. The mood was awesome, and this is the only game so far I've given 5/5 stars for humor.

Not sure how it ties into the minimalism theme though? The graphics were sorta minimal I guess, but I'm not really sure what your thought processes were here :S

Either way, fun game man, good job :D

Loki by francoisvn 2013-05-05T15:51:00

I reaaallllly liked this concept, especially the way you're presented with all the upgrade options at the end of every level (I went with damage++ every time, seemed to be pretty OP hehe)

More enemy types would've been really cool, but this has the potential to be turned into a much larger awesome game :D

5/5 from me :D

Grand Theft Minimal by krangGAMES 2013-05-01T08:31:00

Probably the best appropriation of Mondrian's work into a game I've ever seen :D this is so full of character, the few little easter eggs you've thrown in (yeah I drove all the way around the dark to see what those white pixels were in the map-image you posted earlier :D ) and the various kinds of cars.

I played a couple of earlier builds of this game, so I was surprised playing this version to see the police cars actually giving chase, it was a nice touch :D

Extruder by bitbof 2013-04-30T13:03:00

Really innovative concept, man! It seemed like you could sort of "cheat" the first few levels by extruding in small increments - not sure if it would work, but maybe you could add a rule like "you can't extrude twice in the same direction"?

Music and graphics go completely hand-in-hand with the theme.

Couldn't help but give you like a bazillion stars :)

Vast by FunByJohn 2013-04-30T13:52:00

Hey guys, thanks for the positive response and the insightful feedback :) the original concept for this game was something a bit grander, with more interactivity, but we found we just didn't have the time to fit it all in (this was our artist's first time doing a game jam) so we decided to settle for nailing the ambience of the game, and turn it into something simple but relaxing.

We do admit that it turned out to be something of a walking simulator, a tad short on gameplay, so we don't really expect everyone to get to the "end".

Anyway, thanks again :)

hunter hungry by Jonathan Whiting 2013-04-30T13:43:00

This was really great, the controls were tight as heck once you learned them (I spent a little bit too long tapping UP instead of Z to latch onto walls hehe) and the swinging mechanic just felt organic and natural.

I didn't really enjoy the way you had to walk through the same area every time to reach further destinations, but it became pretty clear that this "revisiting" was important to the mood and atmosphere of the game.

The way those particles (not sure what they were?) are emitted when you have enough rabbits was an amazing design choice; and the "sunset" palette you used really suited the theme of the game.

This is also a really unique take on the "minimalism" theme, I feel!

Man, really great job, this seems so amazingly polished for the time you spent on it. 5/5 stars for sure

Super Rope Dungeon by Halfbus 2013-04-30T13:26:00

Pretty cool! The art in the first half of the game is really amazing; the characters animations are quite cool, the rope mechanic was fun to learn and play with.

The design of the second area is a little strange though. The black-and-white is great; looks really cool seeing that gleam of white shining through at the entrance, but the plain black boxes are a little boring. It would've looked nice, i think, if you gave them that "rough edge" that the platforms have in the first area.

The wall-collision behaves a little strangely sometimes. It works REALLY well when you're falling, and it feels like you latch onto the wall to save yourself, but when you're just walking around and jumping up steps (like in the first area) it gets a bit tedious how often you catch on to the walls. So maybe the collision isnt the problem, but how you've designed some areas to have these short stair-case like structured that don't utilise the collision well.

Overall guys, really fun little game, I made it right to the end and stole the potato to bring back! This gave makes your strengths very clear (sound design, graphics, a solid engine) and I think with a little more time than 72 hours you could this into something really cool (more graphics, slightly more carefully thought out level design, playtesting) :)

4/5 stars from us :)

Orchis by BortStudios 2013-05-01T14:20:00

This was awesome man, I didn't notice the ever-increasing gravity until about halfway through, but I really like the idea! I feel like the level design didn't really take advantage of the increasing gravity, at a gameplay level.

Your pixel art is awesome; the slight animation on the belt of the robot is cool touch, and the shades of green you used are all lovely :D

The ending was quite cool :) how'd the flower get there? :O

First, You Take A Potato by KevinZuhn 2013-05-05T15:46:00

Graphics and music were both awesome, and really fitting!

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Duke Dashington by AdventureIslands 2013-08-28T07:42:00

Really brilliant game mechanic, with amazing graphics to boot :D short, but not to a fault - I cant get over that you made all this in 48 hours, wow XD

Legend of Troll by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2013-08-29T12:05:00

This is really amazing, some of the best pixel art I've ever seen (inside AND outside this compo) it really is beautiful! The music too :O so relaxing and tranquil.
I can definitely sympathise with only having time to make 1 level, and I also can't wait to play more :D

Lodestar by folmerkelly 2013-08-28T09:28:00

Amazing as always :D

Guest House by cardboard 2013-08-30T12:53:00

Beautiful music and art, and the sentiment of being "deserving" actually really struck a chord with me :S
Great work.

1000ms by Loren 2013-08-28T10:04:00

This is the most dazzling random number generator ever @_@

Jokes aside though, this is really neat - especially the 10x10 modes

Space Janitor: Custodial Marine by radmars 2013-09-14T09:41:00

Ah, this is awesome! I like how a lot of things were using the 10 second mechanic, and it was in a good way. It wasn't you can only shoot every 10 seconds, but once you hit an enemy, you get a 10 second cool down. Since the 10 second theme as really a theme here with both the weapon cool down, the timed events, the time until you lost some health while in no gravity, and the mainframe explosion time, it really made it feel like a cohesive gameplay experience to me. The music set a great mood too, and the difficulty curve was very nice.

I think the graphics were nicely crafted, but they didn't stand up to your last entry Tessitron's low poly flat shaded art direction to me, but that's also an unfair comparison since it's one of my favourite graphical styles.

Great game overall. :)

Every 10 Seconds a Window Washer Falls to his Death by dom2d 2013-08-28T09:48:00

The sound design in this is really great, had me grinning the whole time haha! The controls were also really smooth, and the art cute as heck.
It feels like a really complete package, all parts complimenting each other, so cool

Ten Down by Sebastian 2013-09-07T10:00:00

I liked the art direction, subtle shaders and simple ragdoll-ish characters. Once you got the hang of the controls (sorta), it felt pretty fun traversing around the randomly generated building, shooting down the bad guys and then progressing to the next room. I found the controls to be sort of limiting to the player, aiming and movement shouldn't be unified in my opinion, it should be a seperate thing - I'm not sure if this was something you did as a design choice to add onto the difficulty or a technical limit, but I'd hope you make the game more accessible in your post-combo version. Overall, I thought it was a fair game, that could become pretty fun with some tweaks :)

PROBE TEAM by Andrew Shouldice 2013-09-07T10:02:00

Very cool. The atmosphere is really good in this one, and I felt rewarded with the main character's little speech each time you complete a major segment :)

exposure by zillix 2013-08-28T08:49:00

Coolest game of the entire jam. I mean I'm not actually sure yet, I haven't played them all, but this is really flippin amazing.
The way the entire level stretches into the horizon like that is something I've never seen done before, and it felt epic to be walking towards the metagolem like that - it gave it a really good build up.
I managed to get all 3 endings, finding all the black orbs (and keeping them black) was challenging, and really gave strength to the "10 seconds in the sun" mechanic - the first time I played the game I thought the sun mechanic was tacked-on and unnecessary, but the NYX ending really validated it :D
This game is completely innovative, unlike anything I've played :D

A few little bugs, but amazing graphics! I really liked the GB-esque palette of the background, and the robots looked great too :D

Low Battery by RHY3756547 2013-09-07T10:29:00

I LOVE THIS. Particles EVERYWHERE. I love particles. Man this is really fun. My final score was 15510. Did I do good? I would suggest something about jumping down from a ledge and then losing my momentum by hitting a wall, but WHO CARES particles everywhere!! :D 5/5 fun, 4/5 overall

Hankerin Rocket Jocks by sanojian 2013-08-29T12:26:00

Really great concept, really fun game :D only thing I'd point out is the "spam screen full of food" trick :P maybe a budget/max amount of money to spend on food per mission?

Probably something you've already thought of :P

Anyway, great art + game :D

The qi quest by CoOz 2013-08-30T12:19:00

Woah this is a really interesting concept, great work :O
