THE DISCOVERY WAS SPIDERS by Six 2010-12-28T09:42:00
Liking the shadows, graphics overall are good. Would love to see a game made out of this thing ;)

Neat concept, some of the platforming was kinda tough but cool nonetheless. The first time I saw "my" response to my answers, I was a little taken aback :)
I found the difficulty to be a little too high, or at least the checkpoints were too sparse. Fun, solid mechanics if difficult to control. Graphics were nice, liked the atmosphere. Not bad overall :)
+Also, kudos for including a map editor ;)
Glad you guys all liked it, and thanks for the feedback! :D I'm definitely gonna update this game further and take what you guys have said to use!
And yes, there are actually three distinct endings ;) Each one contributes to they storyline in its own way, and you have to get all three to fully understand what happened. Even so, it won't spell it out for you... you'll have to figure some things out for yourself ;)
(Thanks again for the feedback, it's great to hear and I'm glad you all appreciated the game! :) Also note, I'm working on fixing those bug, and will re-release this game publicly at a later date. You guys are all awesome!)
For all those interested, I've now publicly unveiled my game design company, www.krangGAMES.com, and have put up an extensive section about PRIOR there! The game has been highly updated, and once again, thank you ALL for your awesome support! :D
TOTALLY digging the audio, 5 stars on that front! :D
Took a little bit to get all the nuances of the gameplay, but it was fun when I did. Enjoyable game, nice graphics and effects.
Couldn't really find the discovery theme in there, pacing was a little slow and it wasn't exactly the most 'original' game I've ever seen. Also, it took FOREVER to charge the bomb, and when I finally got it charged I was a little disappointed with the result. It was useful, but I wanted something a little more spectacular for the amount of time I put in charging.
Fun though, good overall, nice job. Killed a good 20 minutes, and will probably play again sometime in the future :)
As far as the tutorial goes it suffers from "wall-of-text" syndrome, and there seems to be a glitch where after the game displays "GAME OVER" once it won't do it again, meaning I have to refresh the page if I want to play 3+ times.
Which I do. Because this game is pretty kickass :D I really enjoyed this, EXCELLENT job! Still a little tough, but that's okay. It's fun :)
Only three things bothered me about this game:
-Lack of audio
-Difficulty of some rooms vs. others (i.e. getting the A-button spell)
-Control scheme (felt very cramped and uncomfortable)
Aside from that.... GREAT GAME. Seriously. Excellent graphics for a Flash game, lots of fun and a neat story and atmosphere. Really pushes the theme of discovery. I thoroughly enjoyed this game :)
Wow, for the simplicity of the game and mechanics I got a surprisingly good gaming experience out of that. The gameplay was captivating, even if it was so simple - I'm an explorer, I guess ;) And the post-disc-collection events were surprising and incredibly satisfactory :) Well done!
Spooky - the haunting intro voice worked pretty nicely. Managed to crush myself with a crate in the first level, but a very nice mechanic - well implemented, well used. Smooth controls, delicious pixelly graphics, and works really well with the theme! (Double kudos for hitting escape literally and metaphorically.)
Shouldn't you be doing work? ;)
I have no idea what to do. I just click "End Turn" at the top and some dots change position. Can't figure it out :/
That was awesome! A great bite-sized little game!
The intro was great, at first I thought you had accidentally uploaded a partially completed debug build or something. After the game, I understood the tongue-in-cheek stats screen. ;)
Audio was excellent, gameplay was solid, I finished with LITERALLY one second left so the timing was obviously very well tuned. My only complaint is that controlling the player in mid-air was a bit uncomfortable, and made some platforming sections frustrating. I got used to it though, and it didn't detract from gameplay.
Great work!
"At least you got away, I guess" ;)
Enjoyed it! Seemed a little bland at first, but honestly it turned out to be a pleasant little experience. The sword-throw mechanic hugely helped out gameplay, and the number of obstacles was just right at three (fireballs, bats, blocks).
A bit more explanation at the beginning would be beneficial, but overall not bad at all. I liked the game-over screen too, I'm assuming it changes depending on your results :)
That is one hella happy sun! Gameplay isn't very original, but the controls are very smooth and responsive - controlling the bunny was a breeze. Liked how you utilized various animals and creatures instead of the generic spikes and lava pits.
And the music was made of epic win! :D
Not bad, audio was a little loud but somehow that seemed kinda fitting. The gameplay doesn't represent the theme, but the story you've worked in there fits it nicely. Enjoyed the gameplay, simple but effective mechanic. Not bad :)
Simple, yet very fun :) I managed to get through the whole thing on my first try, but I made one slightly wrong turn on the last level - the last bit was pretty hairy!
I enjoyed the gameplay quite a bit, well done. A winrar is YOU ;)
Not bad! Solid mechanics, simple gameplay, nice audio. The initial moment was slightly frustrating as I tried to use the arrow keys, not WASD, which didn't work and I'd immediately die. A bit more explanation on controls would benefit this game. Well done though :)
Loved the story, the intro art was very good, as well as the ambient and hypnotic audio. The mechanic got a little dull after several levels, and I ended up quitting after about 7 or 8 levels - it became an excercise in patience, something Ludum Dare game rating doesn't really allow for ;) Maybe just a few too many levels. A few powerups or something to break up the monotony would help immensely. Overall, enjoyed the game quite a bit, really enjoyed the mechanic! It was neat and oddly humbling to NOT be in control of my environment. :)
Tile graphics weren't bad, controls were smooth and responsive. However I wasn't a fan of the buttons-don't-switch-until-you-leave-them mechanic, made the game frustrating when I'd die for what felt like no reason :/ Not bad, a little too punishing though ;)
The art and audio are pretty solid, but the gameplay is OBSCENELY difficult ;) The controls scheme's a little odd, arrow keys + mouse are uncomfortable if your mouse is one the right side of your keyboard, I'd suggest making WASD also work for movement.
Also, enemies were far too tough to kill at 5 shots, just 1 would be fine.
Once again though, the graphics and animations were great, and the experience was pretty humorous and pleasant :) Not bad, just needs some controls and gameplay tuning! <3
This game doesn't work in Chrome, seems fine in Firefox. Fitting that I just switched from Firefox to Chrome today, and a game called "No Escape" is forcing me to go back to Firefox ;)
Gameplay was... Well, you made the game, you know how it is. :P Makes a nice art piece though!
I really enjoyed this one :)
Very peaceful, kind of like one of the old Sim games. Just a little hard to tell what exactly you were doing. I accidentally killed a tree, and couldn't make another one. Still, nice work
Took me a minute to get it, but once I realized it was a shmup made from that "generations" game, it made a lot more sense.
Very neat play on an old concept, well done ;)
Not sure why, but I actually really enjoyed this. Probably the dynamic platforming, I played it a couple times and by the time I was getting to 35-40ish points it got really intense. Nice
Very innovative, though it wasn't really that much fun. A lot of problems could be solved if you introduced colors one at a time, and most importantly EXPLAINED what the "rules of that colour" are. Needs a tutorial. Loved the audio. Nice job :)
Initially a bit confusing, but the first time I dropped off a box... tile... thing, and got a sack lunch and then a fishing rod in return, that brought a smile to my face.
Totally digging the audio and I LOVE the graphics! My only concern is conveyance of information to the player, it seems a bit on the lacking side - being able to see what a tile's little speech bubble said AFTER it started following you would be nice.
Still, AWESOME job, the atmosphere in this one is great ♥
