LD21 — Escape

Southward Lies Escape by PaulSB 2011-08-24T15:11:00

Has a very nice and creepy atmosphere. Although when I played it I didn't know it I was progressing or not. Throughout my playthrough I was asking myself if I should just stop playing as there were no clear indication if I was doing good or not.

Perdiganawe by Floko 2011-08-23T05:30:00

* Was confused on how to play at first but got the hang of it after a couple of tries
* The bridge mechanic was an interesting one. Having lots of people on it would break it.
* Loved the sounds made by the little men

Prison Break by hamster_mk_4 2011-08-23T06:34:00

* Very nice. Finished the level.
* Had a hard time with reloading. Is there a key for it, what I do is I click on the icon on the lower right
* Sometimes the enemies doesn't die at the first hit.

I Think In A Minute Or So I Will Explode by Hangedman 2011-08-22T15:59:00

Enjoyed the game that I played it more than I intended.

Hamster Escape! by dev_redant 2011-08-25T05:05:00

Same here. Account suspended.

Psychosisfree by hellsuggestionbox 2011-08-22T15:40:00

Highest score I could get was 49.8 and that was me walking in a straight line. :D

Captive by Dry Tree 2011-08-23T04:59:00

Same with offwhitefox. Hard to predict where and how the rock will fall so I resort to trial and error. A really neat game though. I like puzzles like these.

Urth by Andrew 2011-08-22T16:47:00

A very simple but intuitive game mechanic. Played a good enough amount of it until I reached the escape mode, that was too much for me to handle Haha.

Space Escape by jacquies 2011-08-25T05:12:00

It was quite fun. And the puzzles were intelligently designed.

Stratus by RichMakeGame 2011-08-23T07:01:00

The graphics is awesome. What minecraft would have been if it were scifi. :D Was I suppose to put the bomb in the engine because that killed me.

Rescue Support by Accidental Rebel 2011-08-23T05:23:00

@recursor, yes. That was part of my original plan, you can upgrade your ship like getting faster movement, higher health etc.

@Yeah, the turrets could really use a better AI. That was only a rough implementation and I'm planning to improve it in the future.

Thanks to all those who left their comments. Keep em coming!

Rescue Support by Accidental Rebel 2011-08-25T04:46:00

Ah yes. A wave system would be good. it would give you some time to prepare. I'd keep that in mind. Thanks!

Dinosaur Liberation Front by lilserf 2011-08-23T07:22:00

Very fun. The last level had me take the easy route. Haha.

LD24 — Evolution

Tower Evolution by DBRalir 2012-08-29T12:37:00

Surprisingly fun! A fresh take on a genre that I have left long ago but it seems with this one, I might come to like it again. Continue this, please! :D

Untitled Tower Game by chuchino 2012-08-29T04:30:00

The levels are very interesting, especially the concept. Starting from the start of the level after dying is a little frustrating though, especially since the movement is very slow and you have to go through all those obstacles. Still it wasa nice challenge.

Evolutionator! by CataclysmicKnight 2012-08-27T17:23:00

The controls need some getting used to but it was a good short game.

AvRvE by Cake&Code 2012-08-30T03:13:00

Very polished. I liked the art style. The music was too chimey for me though. Only gripe was my disorientation to the diagonal movement. But that's just me.

Sporee by tdsmale 2012-08-27T23:26:00

Had a hard time distinguishing which particles are already mine and which are not. The change in behavior is not easily noticeable. But still, an interesting take on the theme, nonetheless.

Locked Away by localcoder 2012-08-29T13:00:00

First time I played a game like this and it seems very interesting. The text-based gameplay makes you concentrate on the case at hand and nothing else. I have to agree with Cipher though, where is the relation with evolution?

Kittens vs Evolution by dlan 2012-08-30T04:00:00

Very old school. Made me remember those games I used to play as a kid. Lags heavily on my CHrome browser though which results to death.

Carcinogen Corp. by Mashmed 2012-08-30T03:28:00

Aww.. Too bad. I was ready to take on an adventure but I got the error that everyone else keeps on having. Nice art!

Radiation Man by schnerble 2012-08-29T16:46:00

Work on my machine using Chrome. Controls were okay other than the weird jumping gravity.

Conway's Game of Death by Syawra 2012-08-30T04:32:00

A really nice game version of conway's game of life. It's simple and easy enough provided that you know how game of life works. Nice work!

Volver by rhysvdw 2012-08-29T13:06:00

A nice little game. However, I can't tell how the pickups will change me so I just keep on picking them up and hope for a better weapon. A little indication as to what the pickups are might give me an informed decision and alter my playstyle. :D

The Phoenix Rising by Brassawiking 2012-08-27T18:20:00

I love the art style. I was not able to get past the bag part as well, it seems that the game keeps on lagging and the controls not working some of the time.

evolving by pjchardt 2012-08-29T06:34:00

Interesting. Making my character evolve according to what I was doing is a different take on the theme. The first level should have more spacing between the teaching of concepts, while I did pick it up fast, others might not. Nice.

Cubevo by NostraDamon 2012-09-01T03:51:00

I agree. The game requires planning. From what I have gathered so far, number 2 blocks gives you those gems. 1 blocks are just there to block your way, u can have them disappear by using a gem. But using too much gems will make you less likely to finish the level. So you need to plan when to use. It was quite a puzzle and I liked it.

There was a problem when I was playing though. The game sometimes lagged and the character continues to move according to the last input. :D

Cellception by DiG 2012-08-30T05:37:00

I feel that it is a good improvement on the Osmos gameplay mechanic. I like how they stack up ala-KatamariDamacy. Although sometimes it is hard to determine if an enemy is approaching because of the too many things crowding the screen. And yes, Kongregate lags a lot. Still nice work.

Ideas by MortalWombat 2012-08-28T06:28:00

I love the story and how everything is tied to the "idea" evolving. The only thing that annoyed me with the game was the music. Haha.

Germa by Whiteclaws 2012-08-28T00:07:00

Being a person who played Osmos, I had no problem adapting to the controls. Although the thrust was a little too much than I wanted. As for me, there was no music at all. Not even sound effects. HTML5 problem, perhaps?

Sorry, i was late! by infernet89 2012-09-01T10:01:00

I had blast! Granted, I cursed you every time that I died, but it was worth it. Haha. Oh, and "MOUSE" trap? Clever!

MatterSplatter by VAMflax 2012-08-27T16:25:00

Everytime that big yellow thing comes around, I always die immediately. Haha.

Cellvolution by thewiseguy99 2012-08-27T18:27:00

I like it. The gameplay is easy to pick up and understand. Although there should be more feedback for the player when the character is close to evolving. Still, a nice effort.

Evolution Through Alchemy by D3zmodos 2012-08-29T08:04:00

It was a nice and simple game. Managing the bullets you have left made the game harder and more challenging. Although, I think it would be nice if the evolution aspect of the game is more than the name and appearance changing. Good work!

Cuboid Sandbox by cominu 2012-09-10T08:34:00

Woah. I never expected I would enjoy tinkering around with this game. Haha. Love the visual aesthetic. Makes it seem very calm.

Psee's Food Quest by Dohan 2012-08-30T04:45:00

I agree. A very neat idea but the implementation needs some work. It frustrated me to traverse the surroundings but I kept on playing just to see what other neat evolutions I can become.

Monster League by Loginaut 2012-08-27T17:07:00

I focused on an agility monster on my first round and he immediately died on my first try. Went with an all Strength next and I was unstoppable. Mwahaha. The battles could use a little more movement.

Hoppy! by ElScootro 2012-08-27T23:33:00

I can't really say anything else aside from the ones already mentioned. But I can comment on the difference between running the gmae on Firefox and Chrome. It lags on FIrefox frequently than Chrome.

Abbadon by gustavodort 2012-08-30T05:48:00

Same as what with everyone is saying. The mood, graphics and humor are great. Really hard though. Fun? Not so much, although I did plow through the game just to get to see what other awesome things the game has in store for me.

The life of Cat by Amoaeba Junior 2012-08-27T23:52:00

Walking speed is too slow. It was even unbearable when my cat got fat. Haha. I can see what you are trying to accomplish but a little more speed couldn't hurt. Oh, and the bloodied hands and feet with mouse entrails is awesome. Haha.

Evoquarium by EnigmaBlade 2012-08-28T00:01:00

Played a bit more than I thought I would. Had to examine how evolution works and the relation of the sizes and the number of sides. I thought bigger means slower but there was a time when I evolved from a small guy to big guy and was able to retain the speed. I guess it is random, then?

the Evolution from zx81 by zx81 2012-08-29T05:27:00

Wahahaha. It was a fun little game. Frustrating, yes. But fun. The most frustrating part is when u miss a jump and your player becomes disoriented and was not able to move. Then a gap comes over and makes you fall to the floor below. Then this happens again, again andagain and you are back from the start. Haha.

Larsa Sapiens by egoregor 2012-08-30T04:52:00

Haha. i was surprised on how I liked and enjoyed playing this game. However, the bees were so annoying and hard to avoid especially if they position themselves near you. Had some neat humor placed into it. Oh, and the music is already stucked to my mind. haha.

level-32 by raideen 2012-08-29T09:08:00

Would've been a cool timewaster if it was finished. :D

Egocell jam by Adbook 2012-08-29T08:46:00

Tried the windows build as well. I had to say Kudos for taking the time to put an intro. My only gripe with the game are the enemies, just like Ragzouken said, they have the tendency of killing themselves when they see you. Sometimes they even behave erratically and randomly that it scares me haha. Nice effort!

Orbitary by HopHop 2012-08-30T04:18:00

I like the animations and how the orbiting balls behave when you move around. Very fluid. I wish you could have changed the sprite for the one you are controlling, sometimes with all the balls floating around, it can be confusing which one is yours.

RE-evolution: The Legend of Hopper by andreyin 2012-08-30T02:51:00

I'm proud of myself that I did not die at all when I finished the game. I guess I didn't want to start from the very beginning and stay through the intro like the others did. The art and audio have reinforced the mood of the game. I liked it.

Passive by Suffolk and Clever 2012-08-29T07:29:00

The glow and lighting effects are really nice to look at. I was wasting my time moving my player around just to see him glow. When switching to the next level, the game kind of lags for a minute or so before continuing. Eventually, it crashed.

Evergen by Chimera 2012-08-29T17:01:00

A really great idea! Although lacking in depth, you've still managed to execute the basics perfectly. The uncertainty of branching out is, I believe, what made the game interesting. Keep this up and you can, finally, make the genre evolve into something new. :D

SUPER Levolution by TheBallCollective 2012-08-29T07:07:00

Was able to connect and play for quite a while. Can't seem to know how I can acquire a bomb so I can wipe the smile out of the current top score holder haha.

Cubic Evolution by drakfyre 2012-08-29T09:23:00

I tried but I can't seem to figure out what I am supposed to do. I managed to go to a cube with rainbow tiles just by clicking around on previous cubes. Am I missing something?

The Brewer by Maikeroppi 2012-08-29T05:55:00

Yeah. Can't seem to see any relation to the theme, but not a bad game at all. Kinda reminded me of the restaurant games I used to play years ago.

Evolution of a monster by eld 2012-09-01T03:29:00

Love the atmosphere and ambience! My mind was able to create a backstory for the game even without any texts or dialogues to supplement it. I can see why you did not include instructions, being a prisoner, you have nothing else to do but to figure stuff out yourself. I love it.

kernel exception by ratking 2012-08-29T07:18:00

I guess the pausing mechanic is the same as the one in Dragon Age? I can see the effort that was placed on making the pathfinding work. I wish I could select more than one unit though. Still, a good game!

Upgrade by Fenmar 2012-08-28T00:13:00

This game surprised me a number of times. For one, it loaded almost instantly. With an internet connection as slow as mine, this boggled me, how were you able to achieve that? And it's in 3d as well? Another thing is that the movement is surprisingly fluid and smooth which made it fun to move around. I hated the backtracking though. Nice work!

Boxy the Boxcat in Evolution Escapades by matthias_zarzecki 2012-08-30T05:20:00

The fetch questing got me bored for awhile. although after reading about the ability to blow up cars, I went played it again and endured. Nice touches of humor. Good job.

ExoSlime by leafo 2012-08-30T09:25:00

Got to play for a couple of minutes and I really liked it. Everything ran so smoothly. And the one thing that I really liked, that I am surprised about, is the damage numbers that appear. Nic ework.

Genotype by Filth 2012-08-27T19:23:00

Surprisingly fluid movement. I had fun just controlling it. The artstyle, although simple, serves its purpose for portraying the mood of the game. Nice work.

Go Darwin by StabAlarash 2012-08-27T18:12:00

Haha. Very funny game. Although it is not that innovative, I still enjoyed it.

Next Generation by r3d5 2012-08-28T06:22:00

It seems that the game does not wait for you to make your decisions as it continuously depletes your life. This does not make it easy for someone who is exploring and who does not know how to play the game yet.

Meow for MUTATION! by marudziik 2012-08-27T23:17:00

It's not exactly a game that is focused on fun but its mechanics is really interesting. The writing and humor is top notch. The relation to the theme is as close as it gets. Evolution to survive. I love it!

The evolution games / unnatural selection by Andrew 2012-08-30T05:07:00

Kinda hard to target the kittens as I wanted to headshot them Haha.

Unnatural Selection by Porter 2012-08-27T17:56:00

Same with Rob's experience. Without reading the description, I had no idea what I need to do. No goal, no instructions. But yes, would love to definitely try it once the other stuff are implemented.

Complexitivity by Accidental Rebel 2012-08-27T16:01:00

Hey guys, thanks for all your comments. Just want to say that the difficulty ramps up after awhile so be sure to stick awhile.

Also, flash version now up!! :D

Complexitivity by Accidental Rebel 2012-08-28T14:33:00

Hi guys. Thanks again for your comments and suggestions. I do have plans on continuing the game after the competition. Planning to clean and refactor my code first. Then improve upon the game.

Complexitivity by Accidental Rebel 2012-09-04T20:16:00

Hi Zelen3d, Thank you for your comment. I've noticed the same problem and came up with pretty much the same solution with some slight changes. I've uploaded the new version 1.1. Thanks.

Enhanced Man by Per 2012-08-30T03:07:00

The lighting really enforced the mood for this one. Although I did try but I can't seem to reach the last yellow pickup. I've had the Aerial contorl upggrade but I believe I need to run first before I can jump at a great distance. I likewd it though.

Project "E" by RobProductions 2012-08-27T17:44:00

Love the puzzle mechanics. Had to figure out how everything worked, I thought the warps where taking you to another place.

Robot Panic by Oliver Simon 2012-09-01T04:19:00

Haha. Very unforgiving platfomer. Had to go back to start everytime I die. As everyone suggested, a checkpoint would be nice. :D

Darewin's Missing Link by Nidjo123 2012-08-29T12:21:00

Gameplay might be a good time waster with its one button input. Now my only question is, those spears... Why do I have to let them hit me to get them haha. Nice work.

Uberlution by Robotic 2012-08-27T17:49:00

Looking for the smaller noms was quite a chore at first that I was ready to give up. The bigger ones also always seems to find me. Haha. In the end it was an enjoyable experience. Great visuals!

The Voynich Experiment by Wan 2012-08-29T05:44:00

Aside from the graphics, sound, and over-all mood. I also liked the gameplay mechanics. Although simple, they still forced me to stop and concentrate. Now that's a beginning of a good puzzle game. Looking forward to seeing more of this in the future!

Candy Shop by foxor 2012-08-27T17:20:00

I'm not sure as well on how it works. While you did provide an explanation on this page, it still confused the hell out of me.

Dissolution by Sergey Mohov 2012-09-01T02:59:00

So I went ahead and tried the compo version. Took me awhile to figure out how to survive longer. I had to read some comments to figure it out. The concept is interesting which I believe can be improved upon. Maybe a helpful tip is to make sure that the feedback is easier to notice, on my first try, I was walking and assumed that the changing of colors is part of the gimmick. I didn't know that it was already hurting me. :D

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-26T22:34:00

This is actually a really cool idea! Thanks for making this!

Hypnagogia by Cake&Code 2014-08-26T16:53:00

A very novel approach to the theme. I like how Morgan's situation is the non-battle aspect wherein you would replenish and stuff.

I would like to see what the enemy is doing or casting. A message that says "Enemy casts shield" helps clarify what's going on.

Good job on this one!

Ecosystem by hirsch 2014-08-27T00:45:00

It's very simplified and I like it. Could use menus though and some indicators but the general concept is there.

Also, why are there Lemmings in this game?

Keep up the good work!

REUNION by Skiddings 2014-08-26T03:31:00

Hi there. I played it and it seems that the pushing physics bugs out on me consistently. This happens when you push two statues.

Tinyverse by Xaychru 2014-08-27T13:54:00

A very interesting puzzle mechanic. Very simple and yet so fun. It has that AHA moment after a few levels and you get the grasp of it after that.

Good job!

Rage: Destroyer of worlds by SwiftIllusion 2014-08-26T03:38:00

Clicking on the "Web" link asks me to download a file.

Cohack by Exeneva 2014-08-26T04:06:00

I love the ideas that you implemented on this game. For one, I like the idea where units leave a trail that cannot be stepped on. It forces you to plan out where you need to go. Plus, the ability where you can add a tile is a nice touch so you can build bridges (Consider adding a tile where you cannot build there, just for added difficulty)

One gripe that I have is that it's kinda hard to differentiate what units are yours as they are all the same look and color!

Regardless, I believe with a bit more polish this could turn out into a really good game. Good job, guys!

A Light In The Darkness by TobiasW 2014-08-27T00:35:00

Clap clap clap. Played this one with other people from the stream and it was an awesome experience. I like Multiplayer games that does something different and this one is one of them.

The mechanics really force people to team up and coordinate. There are a lot of text that appears on screen but I guess you could say that it adds to the challenge.

Great work!

Isles in the Sky by Tanner 2014-08-26T02:12:00

Game was confusing at first that I had to read the description. The construction mechanic is definitely a novel idea but the movement is so sluggish that I gave up with it. The concept has potential though. Goodluck!

Where have you been so long? by Satyre 2014-08-26T03:48:00

I can see that you have a message with this game. Try to make the game enjoyable and add more gameplay elements, otherwise people won't stick around to hear what you want to say. Hope this critique helps. Goodluck!

Nonomnia by robodylan 2014-08-26T02:55:00

Got stuck immediately when I spawned. The engine could still use some fixing especially on the movement and the collisions but you have the basic idea. Goodluck!

AlienScape by Kerdelos 2014-08-27T14:35:00

It is very challenging but fun! I can see this as a fun game to speedrun. Good job!

CheckPoint by DanqueDynasty 2014-08-26T02:36:00

It's simple yet I found it challenging controlling two ships at the same time. Would be nice if there was a clear consequence if you miss a red ship. Also, there are times when I could not avoid hitting a civilian because it is on top of an enemy. Still a fun casual experience!

Space Vikings by sharpcoder 2014-08-26T16:21:00

It has an interesting turn based mechanic. It's relatively simple but is still a cool concept.

The Wild West And Its' Living Fossils by toinfiniityandbeyond 2014-08-26T23:20:00

Man, the soundtrack has stuck with me. Props to the one who made it. The art is also gorgeous. The day-night cycle is also a nice touch which gives the game a really great mood.

Good job!

Close Your Eyes by nonetheless 2014-08-27T12:36:00

A very impressive mechanic. Nicely executed. The little touches of humor also adds to the experience.

There, Somewhere by maloki 2014-08-26T03:15:00

I'm sucker for really good puzzle mechanics and this one is really enjoyable. My only gripe is the camera angle. Would be nice if it is slightly more top down, or maybe add the ability to move it around so I can plan my moves.

This is a game worth expanding! Gooduck!

Human and Alien by BoskoSokolov 2014-08-26T01:18:00

Finished in 39.38. Controls could use some fine tuning (Characters not responding properly). Puzzles are nice and makes you feel smart. Overall it is a fun puzzle game!

Caelum by Rocketship 2014-08-26T15:06:00

I am sold on the BGM. It needs polishing visually but it is actually very fun with it's simplicity.

World Portals by Keevinw 2014-08-26T00:58:00

It was difficult at first but got the hang of it after awhile. If you are going for the Super Meat Boy controls, I'd say you are close with a little more fine tuning.

Don't see the theme though. Goodluck!

Galaxy Hunters by Konste 2014-08-26T04:54:00

I like how there is this pressure to get as many money as you can against the other countries. The tally on the left is a really nice touch.

Traversing the planets is a bit frustrating though due to the randomly placed tile blocks. How about adding enemies as the gauge for difficulty for planets?

Still a nice game. Graphics are gorgeous!

This Way! by Accidental Rebel 2014-08-26T03:54:00

Hi guys! Thanks for the comments. I like the idea where you can get more turns! Maybe there's an extra tile that appears at the start of the turn and then disappears at the end of the turn. Will definitely consider adding this to the post-compo version.

This Way! by Accidental Rebel 2014-08-26T04:21:00

Nice catch, @uberscientist. I've fixed it already and updated the builds! Thanks!

This Way! by Accidental Rebel 2014-08-26T07:18:00

Hi guys. Those are valid suggestions. The design has undergone a lot of iterations throught the compo and I too feel that it can still be improved further.

A big thank you for voicing them out!
