LD21 — Escape

DrPetterLD21 by DrPetter 2011-08-24T20:07:00

A lot of possibility in this! And it's smooth and functional. So keep at this one!

Escausage by jplur 2011-08-24T19:15:00

Fun, very silly, but I found it often ended like a fight against the game rather than against the challenge the game posed, if you know what I mean. Still, a great contender, and something that deserves even more fleshing out.

Flee Buster by ChevyRay 2011-08-24T19:56:00

Not much that I can say that hasn't already been said: cool, challenging, fun, nice style and sound. Good stuff!

Stormcrow by someone 2011-08-23T19:38:00

The game is pretty smooth and all, if a bit punishing, but while it is functional it is not much more so: graphics are all right but placeholdery (not a real word). Nevertheless, it was a nice sense of accomplishment to beat it zoomed in and it did have a nice sense of panic to it as others said.

Fragmentation by Riley Adams 2011-08-23T19:33:00

I liked the aesthetic, and as the game went on the controls and switching and etc became more useful. Once I got the rhythm it was kind of straightforward. Nicely functional, if a little repetitive. Also, the visual feedback of the world collapsing, though neat, didn't really give you any warning or chance to get back your speed/evade or etc.
Neat, and nice graphics, but a few little problems that could be ironed out.

Block Faker by droqen 2011-08-24T19:51:00

Neat, and once I figured the mechanics out (:D) it was fun and straightforward. A bit more variety and a bunch of other levels or etc, or perhaps some measure of success like Gornova said could make it a good arcadey game. If that's what you're aiming for

Escape from Ludum Dare by AbelToy 2011-08-24T20:04:00

182! Very fun, simple, good execution. A little annoying at times, but nothing gamebreaking.

Save the Miner! by AClockWorkLemon 2011-08-24T19:37:00

Cool, fun, functional, and a nice implementation of the lighting/cave generation. A little straightforward/ordinary, but still quite good

Escape from Leong Mansion by Neonlare 2011-08-24T19:50:00

Graphics and music were excellent, and it had a nice retro feel. However, the controls were just really fiddly at times, and it could be a bit frustrating. With some work and polish, it could be great.

Planetary Mission by NMcCoy 2011-08-24T20:37:00

Haha, nice little parody. Strange, but fun and functional. Controls were kind of floaty.

Hello?? by Jhelle 2011-08-24T19:04:00

Entertaining, and nice work on the audio. Kind of wish I had more control over what happened, rather than sort of waiting to be told what I could interact with next. Nevertheless, a real contender and a nice take on the theme

Under a Watchful Eye by Acheron 2011-08-22T16:08:00

A cool little concept and a nice take on the theme, although the loop around was a bit of a kick in the head :D
I quite liked meandering around the terrain, but I never did manage to win, because that thing has some angry lasers.
Good all-round.

Escape in 60 seconds by Gornova 2011-08-24T19:24:00

A good idea, with okay execution. I found the sound and controls left a bit to be desired, but the game was still fun and functional, and it was a nice challenge. Could have done with more variety. With some graphical work and some polish and variety, it could take quick steps up in quality.

Cut Here by timgarbos 2011-08-22T16:26:00

Very neat application of a concept, although I think you could have touched on the theme more. Fun, interesting, functional, and easily expandable. Loved the filter fx.

Escape From Music Manor: A Rhythmic Roguelike! by Zachary Lewis 2011-08-24T19:54:00

With some more graphical and audio work, this could be really really great. As it is, it's pretty cool, original, and fun. Nice stuff!

Boat Escapade by wademcgillis 2011-08-24T19:34:00

Ran smooth, was pretty fun. Wasn't really playing urgently at first because I didn't understand the threat. Also, could not win the boss fight, because it ended up spawning a good 20 zombies I couldn't kill fast enough. Still, neat, functional, nice challenge and good take on the theme.

BRITAIN:2027 by Sophie Houlden 2011-08-24T19:21:00

Very neat, and some nice mechanics at work. Also, great take on the theme. I will say there didn't seem to be any incentive not to just charge around, because taking it slow didn't seem to give me any advantage. Nevertheless, refine this and keep working on it, as it is funny and has potential.

Asylum Escape by Amadeus 2011-08-22T15:55:00

I got the hang of it, I think. But I couldn't figure out if it was winnable, as the balance seemed a little off. The graphics were functional, but kind of hard on the eyes. And while the RPG system worked pretty well, the damage from enemies seemed a little unpredictable.
Nevertheless, it has some possibilities!

SUBJECT:7 by Kvisle 2011-08-22T19:37:00

Figured it out, and it all ran pretty smooth, except for some reason the menu graphics and text were all screwed up and repeating for some reason. Fairly mundane and functional, but worked smoothly and the lighting system was nicely executed.

Mountain Break by ekun 2011-08-23T23:13:00

Pretty fun! I liked the various level designs and the smooth functional controls. A bit too much relying on the jumping to the (1 up and 2 left/right) as a puzzle mechanic, which could get difficult at times with the player hitbox. Nevertheless, a solid entry.

Prelude of the Chambered by Notch 2011-08-24T19:44:00

A neat little adventure game, practical and straightforward and some fun little combat. A bit of a mess at the end with the ghost, but still cool.

Chasteroids by pdehaan 2011-08-22T16:17:00

Pretty neat idea! And pretty fun... It did wear out a little while in, as I basically could have gone forever. Perhaps a difficulty ramp-up could have helped.
Still smooth, functional, decent graphics, and fun.

I Think In A Minute Or So I Will Explode by Hangedman 2011-08-22T15:04:00

Yeah, the game does get difficult as you go up. Or, it did once I patched the damn thing. First build was missing the difficulty code XD

I Think In A Minute Or So I Will Explode by Hangedman 2011-08-25T23:47:00

Thanks for all the great input, folks :D Also, feel free to leave your best scores, as I'm trying to think about how I can make an improved version and I'd like to get an idea of the scaling of difficulty.
At the moment it gets harder at 1000 and 2000.

I Think In A Minute Or So I Will Explode by Hangedman 2011-08-27T00:17:00

They weren't really changes, so much as a few fixes to broken code and bugs. But mea culpa.

Bomber Planet by adamatomic 2011-08-24T19:43:00

A little bit aimless, but interesting. Nice graphics, nice style, functional mechanics. With some development and variety it could be a lot of fun.

MageRunner by Toby Pinder 2011-08-24T19:09:00

Gotta go along with everyone else. Shows some promise, but keeps a lot of it hidden away. I'd love to see it with some graphical work and some more variety and design. Clicking is ok, but it can get tedious, some basic actions could probably use simple automation or implement more keyboard controls, etc. A good achievement, most definitely, but unfinished. Keep at it!

Escape Infinity by thatshelby 2011-08-24T20:39:00

Solid, fun, a little punishing at times, but some nice work all the same. I found the controls a bit fiddly at times, but that may have been my computer.

Escape Velocity by Murphy 2011-08-22T15:42:00

A few bugs, but I could see what you were going for, and a few good moments of flinging myself about. I kind of wish placing one would kill the last one, although that might be integral to expanding the puzzles later. Didn't really feel like I was in complete control of where i was firing.

Ernest the Plump Adventurer (in trouble) by agersant 2011-08-24T20:09:00

Solid, fun, and functional. A little bit frustrating with the jumping at times, when I knew where I needed to go but didn't quite have the distance. Still, a good solid entry and I'd love to see it fleshed out more

Escape the Brothel by e-vinyl 2011-08-24T19:06:00

Decent humour, getting through wasn't too hard, but it was an interesting little experience. The mixed-resolution graphics were kind of hard on my eyes at times, but that's likely just me. Nice work

8 ways by Meedoc 2011-08-24T19:13:00

I did quite like the structure of the game. Gotta agree about better indication of current objectives/etc, but still fun and an interesting take on the theme. Graphics were functionally simple, but I think with some odd and unsettling lowpoly or some low-res panel 3d, wolfenstein style, this could have a still lo-fi but creepy air to it.

Antagonist by Jonathan Whiting 2011-08-24T19:26:00

I did like the unique jump mechanic, but it did feel at times like it was taking control from me, which is generally not the best of ideas. Nevertheless, fun and functional and I like the lo-fi CGA-ish graphics. Keep at it!

Stratus by RichMakeGame 2011-08-24T20:43:00

So much (as of yet unrealized) possibility. Very cool, good style, everything. PLEASE make more.

Major Tom Rocket Driver by PsySal 2011-08-24T19:48:00

Neat little style, and a fun game, if a bit frustrating: one mistake usually cost you the level. Nevertheless, I liked the physics and the controls and graphics were good. Some visual feedback on when you can fire again after discharging an engine would be nice.

Rescue Support by Accidental Rebel 2011-08-24T19:19:00

Very cool. I can see a lot coming of this, with some graphical work and some more variety. I did have problems with turrets not firing sometimes, and I think a wave/level system would make the whole experience a bit more structured (although perhaps less frantic :D)
Keep at this!

The Collapse by wzl 2011-08-23T19:55:00

Graphics were functional but simple, but did the job nicely. Levels were a bit too narrow and frustrating at times, but I could see where you were going with it. Some more polish and it could be promising.

Not the Sharpest Sword in the Box by Draknek 2011-08-24T20:05:00

Simple, fun, functional! Cool stuff.

Flee your Fate by TellusE 2011-08-22T15:50:00

A bit of Warioware in there! Neat little games. The graphics and goals were confusing at times, especially in the last game. The second one didn't seem winnable, but that may have been the point. But it did suit the theme nicely and I liked the multiple games tying together the theme.

AWAYGET by mklee 2011-08-24T19:41:00

Cool little game, nice little graphics, has some good potential! A little too easy, but with some work and variety this could be very cool

Space Pirates Suck! by Xion 2011-08-22T15:36:00

Neat, and functional. Although I don't really see why you wouldn't want to be sneaking all time time, unless you screw up. Love the vision range displays, although enemies sometimes saw me from way beyond them if I was straight ahead of them.

Arenatron by ExciteMike 2011-08-24T19:27:00

A cool, functional, fun little dodgemup! Could do with more graphical work and variety, but it's smooth as is and all that would just be icing on the cake.
