But it was a little laggy. Maybe you should add some fog or shorten the clipping distance to make it more playable on slower computers.

And there should be lock cursor or something like that to make sure you don't mouse off of the screen. And maybe the character movement could've been smoother, but that's just me being picky!

I have to admit it's pretty good! The art style is good, and the gameplay is smooth, and the shadow is a constant enemy, making the game fast paced and exciting. The beginning audio could've been improved (it sounds a little default) but otherwise great!

There is no "level designer" script, I manually placed the level scenery using Unity's Editor, which is built in to Unity 3.4.

Something better to do to get the effect you were trying to go for would be to:
1. Change the ambient light closer to black
2. Have a light source on the character, such as a flashlight (or preferably a lamp)
3. Keep the black fog effect
4. Add textures to the walls
5. (Probably the most important) LOCK the cursor instead of HIDING the cursor. The game is really difficult to play when your mouse moves OFF the screen.

The game was VERY laggy on Mac Pro, for some reason. (Running using Java 7 and OSX 10.6)

But, fighting the lag back with sheer willpower, its a good idea and concept. :)

I agree, I think the character movement and controls could be improved, but otherwise you had a nice idea going. Also the lighting could've been improved and the crowd could've had textures or brighter colors. The ambient light is currently grey (Unity's default) which looks horrible with little lighting, so I think it should've been changed to black or had stronger lighting.

The game was a little laggy (you could've reduced the clipping distance or added fog) but most of the time ran okay. And also there could've been more animations to liven the game up a little.

Anyways those are just my perfectionist comments. :P Nice job overall!

I like the level, but a few comments as a fellow Unity user:

1. I hit escape to unlock the cursor and tried to click back in, but the cursor didn't re-lock. I recommend you put code in so that if the user loses focus (such as hitting escape) it pauses the game, and when you click while the game is paused, it re-locks and resumes the game.

2. I changed the sensitivity all the way down and came up with a negative number, I recommend making a limit to the min and max sensitivity.

Anyways those are just my picky comments! Nice job overall!

Thanks, but I don't know why the shots are not registering for you? There's a set range so if you try to snipe enemies out of range it doesn't hit. You have to be close to shoot things.

Thanks a lot guys! I've had some experience making the graphics look as best as possible with Unity Free, and I've learned from playing Limbo that ambient sounds make all the difference.

@ilo - you're right, if I had improved the sounds and maybe added some more effects, the sphere's "low-budget" look could've tricked the player, and thus made them extra creepy. Something I'll remember for next LD!

Thanks for playing! Sorry the sensitivity didn't work out... My mouse is apparently very low sensitivity and I'm used to playing games with it all the way up (pro gamer style).

Invert Y is definitely something I'll add to my base code, and expect it to be in next LD's game!

Thanks for that criticism, you said some problems I didn't even realize until now!

The spheres use FixedUpdate in Unity's Javascript, and I think that's not framerate independent (though I haven't really checked so that may be wrong).
I didn't any time at all to work on any models other than the spaceship and gun, so I just relied on lightmapping to make them look good.
The controls being clunky is something I have to disagree on. I work a lot on making the controls as smooth as possible and I do a lot of adjusting movement speeds, jump height and speed, and if there's any "clunkyness" I don't exactly know what its supposed to be other than what I had. Maybe the character was just too slow?

Anyways thanks for giving some honest critiques, I applaud you for that!

You did a good job with this game, though once again, the theme isn't really incorporated well. Also, for future first person games, I recommend putting a pause screen and some settings/options such as sensitivity, invert mouse, etc.

A few things: 1. There wasn't really any goal or reason as to why things were happening 2. Enemies could move through walls for some reason 3. The fact that you couldn't look up or down made it really easy to forget that turning was accomplished with the mouse. Maybe rethink your control scheme, but otherwise interesting game!

I liked the graphics though the story is kind of... well unrealistic... I mean the way the characters talked was a bit overdramatic and... that's a nitpick haha sorry. Ehh copying other games is not such a great idea... but at least it's playable... mostly.... The cursor isn't locked, and there's no way to change to the mouse sensitivity... and that bugs me a lot -_- But you do have a good graphic style.

Thanks for playing! Yes, there is an option for mouse sensitivity and my mouse is really unresponsive so when making it the default is 10, but you can always change it!!

As for the towers, I know it's hard to miss but they do damage, just not a lot at first. The epic turret upgrade is an essential for the later levels! And the sword really helps too!

Thanks for playing! Getting the turrets to aim was something that would probably have taken too much time.. so I had them set on a sine wave. The Stronger turrets do a lot of damage though!

Thanks for playing! Well.... that's sort of the point! They gradually change to 30 seconds though in the later stages. I mean it's not like I can tell when you want to buy upgrades or when if you need to fix your turrets....
