I actually think this is a pretty good idea for a game, but the one thing I don't really get is the gravity, or why this isnt done from a top down perspective. It seems like every could become impossible to solve because of this (ie you've chosen the wrong path and there's no way to refill a tile) Hmmm... actually there's an idea, if you could re-solidify a previously dug tile that might solve the problem!
Gravity is there to make it harder then just simple Minesweeper. I realize that in the end it is too hard, so I think we'll experiment with ways to get balance better.
Ability to refill looks like in spirit of Minecraft :) However I am not sure it would be good fit, because then it would be basically equivalent to regular Minesweeper.
I think some new mechanics can be introduced by using different type of tiles – e.g. no mines and no digging of stone tiles.

This idea is such a good idea! I think you just had to polish it up a little more with gravity and stuff. I found the audio kind of annoying tho..But great job!
BTW, I offer free beer to anyone who wins the game and posts the screenshot.

I never liked playing Minesweeper, but I love Minecraft, so you're lucky ;). Never imagined a combo of the two. I would have liked an easier start and a digging animation or progress bar or similar. The theme is conveyed well, but I had difficulty using the controls at first due to the 'digging time'. I thought it would be more like an insta-dig. Apart from that, it looks pretty good and it plays pretty good. Powerups or the like would be a good addition to counter the 'luck' part, like an actual minesweeper gadget, radar or even armour. Great job overall.
I didn't get past two-blocks high; I kept losing :/ .
Good job, just the audio is a little annoying and the sprite only faces one direction. It could've used maybe an animation or something to make it feel more lively and smooth.
Otherwise overall great idea and nice game, but doesn't really innovate the theme.
I like the idea, but it seems to be too luck based. Make sure you cannot lose in the first move, and make it clear multiple blocks at a time (as in the original). Then you would only need some sort of climbing mechanic to allow you to get around after large spaces have been cleared.

It's too luck based, but a fun idea though
Cool idea, but there's not enough feedback for me to know the proximity to the bombs. I just lost randomly.
I've added link to updated version with slightly better balance (hint: stone blocks cannot contain mines). Also I've made audio setting persistent between reloads.

Odd, I only get the Blocks Left bar and a volume thingy (Firefox on Windows XP). What exactly is Canvas, and how can I find out if my browser supports it?
