Very nice lighting effectds! kind of wish there were some O2 pickups or something, but maybe that would have made it too easy.

Very nice lighting effectds! kind of wish there were some O2 pickups or something, but maybe that would have made it too easy.
Really enjoyed this. Almost gave up twice, cause I didn't realize what my special abilities were in the first two sequences. Then when I did I felt dumb :)
This is a pretty solid game, there are a lot of elements to it considering how quickly it was made. Only thing I didn't quite get was how building walls worked - actually got stuck in one and then I died :(
Woah a metroidvania style game! The rising water level is a really interesting element - on the one hand it adds a more pressing danger, but on the other it helps you get around more easily since you can swim. A little too hard for me, but I really liked it overall!
Really solid game! Good mechanics and graphics. Really enjoying the games I've played so far done in Unity.
Cool, although it's a little weird the sentry lasers don't have a little turret sprite attached to them, seemed weird to be getting shot at by nothing!
Cool concept and very solid execution. nice job!
nice job, VERY hard though!
Really nice graphics, the shadows look so cool! I was able to kill a bird with a bomb which was kinda weird..but funny! Character movement could be a bit faster. Good job overall.
Yeah, the lettering effect is awesome. The game is a little tough though, I survived for maybe 10 seconds - beat that!
Cool game, I especially like the crowd mechanics. But i hit 'The Answer' room very quickly each time I played, which was kind of annoying - Obviously I would've liked to have a choice whether I felt that was the answer or not.
Ok I thought the white screen was a bug until I reread your description. It's a decent idea but it doesn't feel quite right. Whenever the white screen comes on you're just kind of waiting for it to change back. Cool pixel smoke effect at the bottom of the screen though!
da da da da...du da daaooowwww
Absolute insanity. Pretty fun to play, I enjoyed causing havoc and destruction to the people of Afrocity. The music in havoc mode is the stuff of nightmares. Overall, even though I enjoyed it, this may be the least 'alone' themed game I've played yet.
Well, I played this game by myself despite your explicit instructions and uhh well it wasn't that fun...but I could see how it WOULD be fun with two people!
Wow! This is really cool. The graphics looks awesome! It's short and there's not much to do, but it's definitely a great base for a bigger game.
Web link doesn't appear to load anything.
Cool visuals and intriguing start but I also had to much trouble with the section where the statues come to life. The hit detection seems very unforgiving to me, and after 10 or so tries I just had to give up.
Nice atmosphere and great work on the sound.
Quirky humor, nice graphics, but I couldn't find the key??
Really nice graphics and mood. Had no idea how to control the boat though so I gave up :(
Really cool game! I liked the atmosphere quite a bit. I have to admit though, reading through those psych evaluation questions was pretty boring to me so I decided to quit, especially because it seemed like there were like 12 more in the room.
Really quite amazing in every way, but having to restart from the beginning after touching the 'shadow' is way too harsh.
Kind of fun but the mechanics needs a little more polishing, I mostly just held down the right arrow and mashed on the space bar.
Surely the best peeing game I've ever played.
Reasonably fun gameplay, although the movement takes a bit too long to accelerate up to a reasonable speed. The 'cat' mechanic is pretty unclear, doesn't seem like they do anything or there is any consequence for killing of leaving them behind.
Pretty fun to play. Weird concept though, am I feeding the flower bird carcasses? Which of course can only be 'fed' to the top of the flower? Well ok then. Still it was fun, nice job!
Cute graphics and decent concept but as you've no doubt already realized, having the player have to restart the game after every death was a huge oversight which will cost you dearly muahhahaha. And now that I've rated this version, I'll go ahead and give the 'fun' version a try :D
Yes, the intro sequence is very slow. The gameplay is also very simple and quite buggy. Nice simple retro graphics though.
Good visuals and overall I thought it had a nice feel to it. I also like to keep photos of my loved ones lying on the ground in the mountains :) Too bad this is not the finished version, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
You probably know the deal by now - awesome visuals, repetitive gameplay. Could be an interesting game with more variety/challenge. The music started to drive me crazy after a few minutes. Overall good job though!
Ridiculously difficult! I tried man, but I couldn't get more than one hit on that damn dragon. Why do my bullets travel so slow?? Why do I have to wait so long before I can fire again?? WHY?!?!?
Nice minimalist visual style. The combat wasn't too compelling - considering it seems like you can't die there was no real challenge to it.
Sort of generic, but very competently made and playable. The inclusion of checkpoints alone makes this one of the best designed games I've played yet! Also, surprisingly long! Good work.
ok restarted my comp and tried in another browser and those performance issues went away. the controls are still brutal though, it's like walking in molasses that turns into ice whenever you gain any momentum! Still, the amount of polish you put into this is commendable, wish I could have gotten a little further!
Alright, this game made me laugh. Nice use of physics too. Got stuck in one of the boxes though on the first level, then got stuck in a wall on the second level :(
Uhh...well I'll admit I really didn't understand this at all. I tried typing in the equations you listed at the bottom of the page and nothing happened.
Very nicely done! The graphics were phenomenal, and I found the puzzles and other gameplay to be pretty engaging. The story went from being kind of light-hearted to being really dark by the end - which felt a bit strange, but overall this is probably the best entry I've played yet. Great job!
Very floaty physics...but hey I guess you are on the moon!
Pretty cool game. I dig the graphics and it has a nice atmosphere to it. Your level design is pretty brutal though - forcing the player to backtrack pretty long distances if they fall down the wrong hole is not super fun. At least I found the kitten :)
Genuinely brilliant. My favorite game of the compo so far.
This is a pretty cool concept for a game. With a bit of polish it could be really solid. As you've mentioned some more visual feedback would help. The platforming is a bit wonky as well. One simple fix would be to have the jump key work on key release rather than press. It seems like it's impossible to get to the highest platforms on the level?
The screen shaking effect was a little too much for me. Otherwise decent game!
I picked the right door apparently, but somehow still felt like it was a loss.
I can appreciate taking a slightly less game-y approach to make something a bit more artful, but the 'art' could have resonated a bit stronger if more elements from the poem were depicted in the game world. For example, instead of just walking through a dark cave what if he was chasing a floating 'beacon of light' that shatters at the end. Instead of the character casting a circular light, the beacon would be the only light source in the scene, and at the end you're left in total darkness. At least that's how i would've done it. Still a nice, thoughtful experience.
Really cool game. It took me some time to realize there was an offensive element to the game and when I did it really changed things up! I think this is one of the strongest games I've played in terms of the theme so far. Good work!
I have to say I think this is pretty good. You were able to incorporate a lot of different mechanics for a 48 hour game. Like tamat said the controls aren't very intuitive. Why W to throw stuff and not left mouse click for example? Anyway, very solid entry.
I think you've done a great job with the mood and feeling of this game - the sound and visuals are very effective. The basic concept behind the gameplay is solid but the execution is a bit too meandering. There isn't really any challenge, and as I was quickly progressing through levels I started to lose motivation to play, as the experience didn't seem to be changing or evolving in any way. Overall, a very strong entry, good work!
Pretty effing crazy game, but I like it! Of the three sections, the only compelling gameplay was in the second, but without the third section there wouldnt have been any kittens so i dunno :)
Cool zombie game! You got most of the basics working pretty well, but the game could use some more variety. The zombie movement was also very...mathematical - In that they all sort of swooped in at you in the same way. The music started driving me crazy after about the fifth repetition. Overall good work though!
Pretty solid game. I really liked the flamethrower jumping mechanic. I considered using stencyl as well, but I feel like it falls into a grey area as far as the rules go, since you are likely going to use a lot of premade code. Still, I think you did a good job with this one!
Ok I had no idea what the goal of this is supposed to be. Made some red cubes appear...and that's about it. Needs a tutorial or some more specific instructions. Sound was a bit abrasive as well. Seemed like an interesting setup, at least.
Decent effort but as others have said the game feels a bit broken. Nice music though!
Web link doesn't work...for me at least.
Man...you spent all that time setting it up as a three person puzzle platformer and then...well I won't post any spoilers, but I did stop playing once I reached the gauntlet. No thanks! Pretty solid effort overall though.
Really cool particle snow effect. I couldn't really understand what I was supposed to do though. Needs some more specific instructions.
Despite overall lack of content and gameplay it was a solid effort. Nice mood, interesting premise.
Ha, the first frame of your game is almost exactly the same as mine! Unfortunately I could not find the gameplay element here. After the dialogue ended I clicked around the whole screen and nothing happened.
Yeah it's a bit choppy. It's also kind of hard to understand what the game's about - ok I found some friends, now what?
Look at me, now back to the sky. The moon is a banana.
Ok, I really enjoyed how intensely weird this game is. Great music and visuals - his walking and bending over animations made me chuckle. Not really sure what the goal is. I fed the the bird the white thing and walked to the edge of the screen and...game over? Well, ok then.
Well it's a solid base for a game, obviously needs a bit more to it.
I flew into the sun. I'm going to consider that a victory.
Pretty solid game. I wish the sword swing was more of a semi-circle than the tiny slice of pie it is now, as it is a bit annoying how close you need to be to the enemies to hit them. It gets repetitive but overall I had fun, and would play again if there was more variety to it.
Hang in there, baby!
Pretty cool. I liked the music and the art was pretty good, was well as all the shaking and particle effects. I admit I couldn't beat the first level though - is it actually possible to get to the top without death by anxiety?
Really loved the visuals in this game. Obviously there is not much to the gameplay, but I was totally happy to just walk around take in the sights. It was a little weird when I died of loneliness very abruptly, but overall I really enjoyed the experience.
It does seem like this should be a jam entry though - maybe it would be possible to have it be changed by an admin?
Well as you've stated no this game is not very fun. One simple improvement would be to allow me to attack at a faster rate. Anyway, glad it was a good learning experience, the music was actually pretty good too!
Pretty cool game! Took a second to get used to the controls, and overall I still found it a bit hard, but the rope mechanic works surprisingly well. If you added in checkpoints for non-hardcore players like myself I think it would be a pretty great game.
I just gave the game another whirl and found that I was able to play much better this time around. I think it's just a bit of a learning curve which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all. I think my main issue is that it's hard to gauge your momentum at any given time, so you end up not flinging yourself far enough or vice versa. A solution to that might be show a visible launch curve similar, if you've ever played peggle you might know what I mean - although I can't imagine that would be easy to program :/
Yeah I have to say this game is very (maybe unintentionally) funny, with the zombies falling all over themselves. I couldn't really find where to go and I also couldn't figure out how to look around. I've had a similar issue with other Unity games though (on Mac in Firefox).
You should change your web link to actually go to the game not your github page.
Well I think I was able to figure out what to do through intuition...sort of. I'm guessing I couldn't beat 'easy' mode because I made way more trees than water. It's an interesting concept but the game gets repetitive quickly.
Didn't run very well for me. Died at the mines twice, gave up.
Oops I scared myself to death. Well, I played it for a little bit. Can't really tell if there's a goal or an ending. Seems like a decent base for a game though. The graphics are simple but I think they have a charming retro vibe to them. F1 doesnt work in the web version, but I didnt figure out that right mouse click lets you use the flashlight.
Pretty cool mechanics, and I like his little flip jump, but the level design is a bit unforgiving and I found myself trapped at one point.
Very nice and polished feeling game. The sound and visuals are quite strong as well. I'd have to agree that having multiple characters detracts from the the theme. To say they don't interact seems odd though. Following the second character and then unlocking her is interaction. Them working together towards a common goal is interaction (albeit indirect). Of course, what that common goal is I had no idea, so after walking around for a bit and killing roughly one thousand red slimes I gave up :/ Overall very strong entry though!
Not really sure what this one is all about. Seems pretty broken in that there wasn't any consistent result from creating those arcs. Sometimes they made balls disappear most times not.
Very simple gameplay but I think it gives the game some charm. I like the concept, but I think you need to make the hitboxes a bit smaller. In level 3 I kept dieing even though on the screen it didn't even look like I had touched anybody. Better to give the player the benefit of the doubt!
I actually think this is a pretty good idea for a game, but the one thing I don't really get is the gravity, or why this isnt done from a top down perspective. It seems like every could become impossible to solve because of this (ie you've chosen the wrong path and there's no way to refill a tile) Hmmm... actually there's an idea, if you could re-solidify a previously dug tile that might solve the problem!
Surprisingly ambitious amount of storytelling in this one, although the story is very weird I thought it was pretty interesting. Then I realized you wanted me to solve some absolutely insane number puzzle, so I reloaded the game and walked into the space lizards mouth :)
The controls are a little...spastic, but overall I found this this to be quite playable and enjoyable. The puzzles were pretty well designed, and even though it was short, I felt it was a good experience. Nice ending too :)
NoOoOOO
Simple but charming game. Nice surprise ending too :D
Seems interesting but waaay too hard man.
Functional but lacking depth. Gets repetitive quite quickly. Solid effort but needs more variety (enemy types, weapon types, powerups, ect.)
Cool, sort of trippy visual style. The main gameplay mechanic took a little while to 'click' with me, but I was sort of getting into it by the end. As someone else mentioned, it does seem like holding right seems to be to solution most of the time.
Wow, I loved it! The puzzles were really good and some of them were very clever (the broom!). The world was surprisingly interactive, and I thought the first/third person perspective mechanic worked quite well. Even though this is short, I think it was really well done. Good job.
Cool game! Gets a little repetitive but the main idea is solid. It was cool to see the planet growing. I had a decent amount of performance issues (stuttering) on a pretty fast computer though.
Very funny/weird/quirky little game - I enjoyed it! The graphics are absurdly small, but as you mentioned you can zoom in with the browser. The minigames themselves aren't too compelling but the overall experience was good.
Pretty funny! Nice ending :)
Fun little game - would've benefited from some element of randomness though.
Decent concept and pretty good environmental graphics but WAY too hard. I think this would actually be a decent game if it started off easy and gradually got harder as you played, but right now it's just ridiculous.
For better or worse this game has a real old school challenge. Love seeing the whole game world at once. Nice job.
You really need some instructions for this game. Looks interesting though.
Nice start but obviously needs a bit more work. Movement speed is way too slow! Pixel art looks good though!
Pretty good entry but the one hit deaths are pretty brutal. This girl can't stand in two foot high water without dying? Very nice work otherwise!
Impressive how much stuff is happening on screen at once!
Really solid, well made game, but got a bit monotonous. With a little more variety this would be an excellent game.
First, thanks for your thoughtful comment on my game, much appreciated!
This game was really interesting and very unique. I can't say I've played anything quite like it - it's almost like an interactive Where's Waldo. I enjoyed the feeling of the game and the music set a very nice mood, but eventually I got to a level where I just could not discern which speck was me and had to give up. It might be nice if there was some kind of hint system, sort of like a marco polo/hotter/colder thing - not quite sure how it would work. Anyway, still a very creative and enjoyable experience.
Pretty cool digging effect but lacking in the gameplay department.
Pretty good entry - but for the main comp you should upload your source code.
Solid game, but frustrating - judging perspective from that angle can be challenging and waiting for the camera to rotate is painful. Unfortunately I had to give up because I just couldn't stop dying!
Nice game, it had a very relaxing, peaceful feel to it. The mouse look was very jumpy for me but I was still able to play. It was fun to explore around - and I even met another grasshoppper!
It seems like you used a lot of outside resources for this game - since it's a jam entry I suppose that's ok, but next LD I hope you'll try use more original work!
Great concept and nice graphics and music. My only complaint is that once you've figured out what you're supposed to do it's a bit too easy.
Really great visuals and animation, but I am especially impressed by your boss fight design - they might seem tough but they're actually incredibly fair and reward smart play. The last boss was kind of a let down after the first two were so good though (I beat him in like 10 seconds, not sure if I somehow cheated the system). Great work!
Amazingly good. Somebody is making the most of Unity Pro's features :D Really fun, polished game. I wish it was a little harder, but overall really enjoyed it.
Great game, I liked the RPGish elements. I was sad that it ended when it did!
Wow, very complete, solid game. Great music and artwork, and the switching players puzzle solving mechanic works very well.
I'm not sure if this was a bug or if I got the end, but the last screen I saw had these two strange house icons and I couldn't do anything.
Anyway, very good game, surprising amount of content for 3 days work!
Good work! A good start, but as you said without a goal it's hard to find motivation to keep playing. The combat is a bit too difficult, especially since the controls aren't super responsive. Still, lots of good stuff here, very promising.
Probably the craziest interpretation of the theme I've seen so far. Very funny and very enjoyable.
Thought it was strange that the ant wasn't in the second half of the game though since it was seemingly the core mechanic. From that point on it became a bit more of a generic platformer and without any real penalty for dying there wasn't much of a challenge. Still a very solid and enjoyable game though!
The first game I've played this LD! Nice idea, good graphics and music. The basic mechanics all work very well.
I found there was no advantage or reason to ever be zoomed in, so I held down the zoom out key the entire game.
The black holes are an interesting solution to create level boundaries, but it seemed at first like they were there as a challenge, so I tried to get by them...then I fell off the edge of the universe. Whoops.
Overall, a solid experience, but a little bit too easy - if you had less 'health' (people) it would take a little more strategy to get to the end point, and the vine mechanic would also be more useful.
Pretty solid and interesting mechanics. Could be more challenging though.
Fantastic game, great art and sound and the tiny earth mechanic is killer - great use of the theme!
It's a bit challenging to understand how to get predictable results, but the trial and error is in some ways part of the fun.
Unfortunately, I couldn't beat the room with a ton of lava, but I still really enjoyed the game. Good work!
Solid effort. Nice graphics and smooth transition for switching planets. Puzzles could have been a little more challenging. I died when I touch the snake. Oh well!
This is a truly strange game. Doesn't seem like you can actually lose?
Solid premise and nice old school film look, but the gameplay is a bit too simple and it was quite easy.
Funny concept but way too easy, some random behavior on the part of the enemies would have gone a long way. Still, a good effort.
Very clever mechanic and an enjoyable game overall. I would've kept playing if there were more levels!
Good concept, but a little frustrating.
Decent game, the controls are a bit frustrating but I was still able to beat it. Could definitely use a bit more content.
Honestly not a very fun game (just clicking randomly), but cool psychedelic graphics!
Insane seizure inducing screen flickering for me (On Mac / Firefox). Sorry, I couldn't play it for more than 10 seconds.
Nice little story. I feel like this could have been an interesting puzzle game if you could change ages at will but that would obviously lost some of the meaning behind the story.
Great game - wonderful use of a wide array of game mechanics, and nicely polished animations. I did find it a bit too difficult, I suppose my request would be that instead of insta-death, the game could have a 3-heart system of something like that. Since it's a Metroidvania perhaps health power ups scattered along the way? Anyway, great work!
Really nice! Simple concept but executed very well. The enemy AI is actually pretty good (especially for 48 hrs). Graphics are solid as well. But why F5 to restart?? Haha, not that it's a big deal, but kind of annoying on a mac keyboard.
Hmm, I'm not really sure what's going on - when I start the game I can't move (w,a,s,d doesn't do anything) - so I don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing. Tried in Chrome and Firefox using both links.
Nice start, Im sure that bird and the walk cycle took a while to make! Looks like it has potential!
Hah, kind of funny, but a bit too simple. Nice idea though!
Ok, it took me a long time to understand what I supposed to do... There's a decent concept here but it's a bit too frustrating now - maybe go a little easier on the par times. After all, it's not like in golf when you dont hit par you have to play that hole over and over...and over.
Haha, well it's not bad...a bit short, and some wonky platforming. Nice effort.
Very cool, nice take on an old school genre. Kind of a cop out on the theme, but hey kittens who can walk on two feet and shoot guns - well, I suppose that's evolution!
Wow. VERY smooth and fast-paced gameplay. Creative game mechanics as well.
The generative sound design approach would have worked better if it was a little more harmonious, but the background music is quite nice on its own.
I feel like the game starts to get very visually cluttered once you have a lot of minions, it's really hard to tell where your character is and what the heck is going on. Still, an impressive effort!
Nice implementation of stealth mechanics, but yeah it does seem a little slow.
Pretty interesting simulation but the game moves way to fast to actually 'play' it. Would be interesting to slow things down and add some strategy to it.
Really impressive character animation for 48 hrs. Like others I had some trouble understanding how to use the inventory. Not sure if it's bugged or what but I had to give up.
Dang, this is awesome! A little bit on the slow side, but all the other great things about this make up for it. Really nice work!
Dang, I'm surprised no one's played this. Anyway, pretty good concept - the platforming is kinda rough, not enough control over the player. But the idea of stuff being programmed into the game while you're playing is cool.
Solid game. Took me a couple tries to realize there was more stuff going on to the right of the screen.
Wonderfully creepy, I LOVE the slowly intensifying noise overlay. Music and audio were good too. I saw the ending coming from a mile away but it still made me jump. Actually the apprehension waiting for it happen probably enhanced the mood overall! The hallways disappearing were very freaky and seemingly a pretty impressive technical feat. Great job!
Dang, I really liked this game, very unique and original mechanics. It's kind of tough but mostly in a good way. I wish the baby buffalo were just a little smarter, like for example it'd be nice if they got out of your way when you are charging at a wolf. There's a lot of other little tweaks that could make the experience friendlier, but overall I thought this was really good!
Intuitive this game is not.
Repeats the same questions over and over.
Wonderful visuals and really excellent music as well. It's a shame the gameplay seems so unfinished because this shows really huge potential. Hope you guys keep working on it! And again, kudos on the artwork!
Great ambience and wonderfully addictive gameplay. I'm just a little miffed that i was just a few gems short of being able to open the final '10' box...and no more trees in the whole world!
Very fun! Nice power-ups.
Pretty cool idea, it seems a little random to me, but maybe that's part of the fun.
Not too bad. As others have mentioned that one jump on the second level is a bit frustrating.
Really solid game all around, fun gameplay and decent graphics and music as well. Visually the game is a bit hectic - this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does make it hard to tell what's going on at times. Overall, I think the difficulty is a bit too easy - even the health pick ups are super generous - it's fun but without the necessary challenge its hard to find motivation to keep playing.
Sounds like this was a good learning experience for you, so here's hoping you'll take things to the next level next LD. Good effort though!
Pretty good! One thing that was kind of confusing - I couldn't really tell when I was allowed to spawn a new monkey. Would be cool if there was a resource gathering aspect to this as well so it was more like a realtime strategy game - gather resources, build more huts, spawn more units, ect. Anyway, nice job.
Hey! Hey! Hey! Dude! Check this out! Yo! Hey! Check this out! Hey! Yo! Check this out! Check this out! Hey! Yo! Hey! Hey! Check this out!
In other words, it was weird and interesting but kind of hard to understand. The rapid fire sound effects were brain melting so I had to quit.
Well not the most original idea...but it was pretty fun! Nice graphics!
Great game! Really fun and challenging in a good way!
Huh, well the first two times I played I 'won' without having any clue what I was doing or even which character I was controlling. Still, once I figured out what was going on, it seems like a pretty good idea for a game, just needs a little more challenge!
Hooooooooly craappolla - voxel magic ahoy! The ambient occlusion and glow effects are to die for! And it's all in real time, holy crapolla x2. Wonderful simulation as well, good potentially spend a lot of time messing around with this! A+
Well, it's a good start. Right now it's definitely too hard - enemy bullets need to be slowed way the heck down!
Not bad! One thing about the movement that feels off is that you move pretty slowly but turn very quickly - would probably be better if it were the other way around! A little too easy, but overall a pretty good effort!
Haha, awesome concept for a game and well executed too. I liked the how the difficulty steadily ramped up and the 'risk-reward' system for trying to get the miners to discover new fossils without hitting them is pretty clever. Great work!
Pretty good overall, but I'd agree the one hit kills are a bit much - why not just a de-evolution or something?
Hoo boy....pretty funny, but could use a little more depth.
Nice! Solid game, although It could use a little more variety. Your death trigger seems to be broken though, as I was able to keep playing even though I had gone into negative health!
It's a bit slow but pretty good otherwise.
Interesting, kinda bizarre gameplay = but even when you know the 'formula' it seems pretty hard to actually get these things to transform.
Nice game, it's a little simple, but still enjoyable. The evolution aspect of it is really subtle though...
Dang, this is pretty cool, but yeah kinda buggy. The level design is a bit too random, after a while it gets tedious because the game doesn't even hint at which way you're supposed to go. Great visual style, very promising!
hoo boy. Well, I played against myself - maybe it might actually be kind of fun against someone else, but the combat seems a bit too simple.
You might want to explain how exactly you're supposed to 'select 3 specimens'. it seems like I did it somehow, but just after mashing keys randomly. Anyway, the first level was ok, but the second was way too hard.
Pretty good! The nice bouncy cartoon style works well, but overall I'd say the game is too easy. I'm sure you didn't have time but it would have been cool if some additional challenges popped up along the way.
Nice visuals, and I liked your approach to telling the story. The combat was a bit too simple to be really engaging. The enemies need to have more randomized behavior, instead of just standing still and throwing spears at regular intervals. Solid effort overall!
Nice graphics! The gameplay is a little bit crazy and hectic, but it's a cool idea and makes sense once you figure out what's going on. It's a little annoying how quickly your 'weapons' meter seems to drain once you've picked up a few guns. Because of this the game gets pretty hard, pretty quickly. Still, nice job!
Pretty cool! I've played a couple games with this concept already, but yours in the first that actually went into the 3d era. Just collecting yellow dots gets a little dull after a while, it would have been nice if there was some challenge.
Kind of wonky platforming and hit-detection, some seemingly impossible sections.
Cool, nice atmosphere - but the third level is pitch black for me, not sure how I'm supposed to play that. (Reading the comments now I see your supposed to detect them by sound but I couldn't really hear anything besides the normal ambience)
Kind of a cool tool to make interesting geometric designs, but the game side of things (matching the premade shape) seems virtually impossible.
Not bad - a little too simple but the idea is there. Good work.
Awesome! Great idea for the theme. I liked how the later puzzles seemingly could be solved in a variety of ways, made it more of a physics based sandbox. Nice work!
Well, yeah seems to be missing a lot on the gameplay side, but the graphics and music are great and the idea certainly has potential
Wow, great game. Awesome graphics, gameplay, audio - everything! Only thing I noticed that seemed like a bug or something was that I beat two levels without actually killing all the hearts - somehow they were destroyed on their own or something. Anyway, great job!
Cool man, I liked this a lot (can't believe you don't have more comments!!) Takes a little while to get the hang of it but when you do it's really fun! Overdrive mode is awesome!
Some things that seemed off - after you go through overdrive mode it seems like you get the opportunity to 'level up' a bunch - but this never seems to happen doing regular play. It'd be nice if the enemies occasionally dropped health power ups - and on that same note, the life bars are so minuscule I never had any idea how much health I had left anyway.
But yeah, besides those kind of nitpicky things I think this was a really good entry, hopefully more people will stop by and play it!
Cool, I thought the puzzles were pretty creative. The platforming is a little wonky, but besides that I thought it was quite good. Nice authentic looking NES graphics as well!
Sort of like like a creepy minecraft where you don't mine or craft, but instead walk around mostly in the dark and occasionally kill innocent people. What I'm saying is I liked it.
Now, I'm fairly liberal when it comes to the definition of what a game is... but a NON-INTERACTIVE game? Man, that's kind of stretch. Even though this idea could have been easily somewhat interactive, ie. you have to click somewhere on the screen to proceed to the next scene.
The artwork is good, and I do like how you've interpreted the theme of evolution, but in your efforts to be subversive I think you went too far. Or maybe you just ran out of time.
Nice graphics and mood, but I found the puzzles here to be pretty random.
Hmm, well I couldn't beat the second stage. I guess I don't really understand how you're supposed to tell what the result is going to be when you mate two students. It seems like a pretty good (and unique) concept but right now it's not very accesible. I had some issues with students randomly disappearing as well.
Your link doesn't load for me.
Cute little exploration game with a touch of metroidvania. A little light on gameplay but bonus points for laser eyes.
Cool! Very good use of the theme, imo.
As you say it's tower defense as usual, but quite well done. It took me a while to realize the benefit of evolving - apparently sometimes you can get stronger towers for cheaper costs.
As others have said - incredible presentation (even the web page is wonderfully designed), but the gameplay is repetitive.
Really great visuals with a lot of small details and polish - I especially liked the sort of flickery, blurred overlay.
The puzzles are a little convoluted - most of them seem to just require some random guessing. This wouldn't be so bad but with the timer and slow movement it gets tedious and after two tries I gave up.
I did watch the playthrough so I can see that I ended up missing a pretty sweet payoff at the end, so it's a shame it wasn't a little easier to figure out.
Still, I really liked the overall ambience of the game, and once again, great visuals. My game is also about terraformers living on Mars - although this is not something that's actually stated at any point in the game :)
A little too easy to fly out of the map boundaries. It's a solid game - but I definitely didn't notice any evolution in the enemies.
Really clever game design in theory, but I have to say the gameplay gets very repetitive after just a short time. Not especially strong on the visual front (that lime green color is blinding) but the music is pretty good. Overall, good effort but could use some refinement.
The web version of this seems pretty glitchy (easy to walk into walls, gun seems to fire inconsistently), but it's still playable. A pretty solid start, but needs a bit more work.
Kind of funny, but not especially fun and a bit too slow paced.
Ha! well is is a funny concept, too bad you ran out of time.
Well, very funny concept. Gameplay is a bit slow and the controls are kind of confusing (WASD and arrow keys at the same time breaks my mind!).
I like the visual style a lot. The puzzles are good, but the method to craft items is too convoluted, I would have given up if I hadn't read some of the comments.
My game was also inspired by a certain Kubrick movie, but more towards the end of it then the beginning :)
This is actually a pretty cool idea (and quite original) but right now it definitely feels incomplete. I feel like I game like this would need lots of visual feedback (ie cookies getting burned, or being a goobly mees of dough if undercooked) to really be understandable without so much text instruction.
Well, I dunno about this one. I actually ran away from my dog on purpose because there was seemingly nothing else to do. I think if the experience as a little more detailed - it might potentially have more impact. Nice music though!
Pretty solid idea, although I feel like the gameplay needed to 'evolve' a little more as it went on.
It would probably be funner if you could actually destroy creatures that you dont want - if the view was zoomed out a bit more you could have like a trash can, or a Bunsen burner or something that you could throw unwanted creatures into.
Anyway, good work!
It's a cool idea, but the payoff isn't so great. In the end it just kind of seems random.
The game could be more interesting strategically if a. you knew what colors meant beyond the few examples you gave and b. the enemy (in this case the ship) had different characteristics per level so the goal would be to try and counter that specific ship type.
Awesome concept and great execution...but yeah it's too hard!
Really nice work. Could use a little more variety in terms of enemy types/behavior, but overall a very solid TD style game (especially for 48 hours!)
Yeah, I also am having trouble understanding just what it is I'm supposed to be doing. Seems like an interesting simulation, but needs a bit more guidance for the player.
Wow, this is great! Wonderful atmosphere and the music is excellent. Good story and use of the theme as well. You definitely got a lot done in 24 hours!
I think my only complaint is that the game is too 'directed' in that instead of having to figure anything out the computer tells you what to do (almost) the whole time. Some light puzzle solving would have improved that for me, but overall I still really enjoyed it.
Oh, and for whats it's worth, my game is pretty similar in terms of tone/atmosphere/story. It also takes place on Mars but that's kind of a secret :)
Nice effort! Could use a little more polish, but the basic gameplay is there for sure. It seemed a little hard, but I was able to beat it so maybe not!
Really fun, polished game. Provided a nice challenge without being overbearing. The only issue I noticed is that the bombs are so cheap and powerful they basically become the easiest solution to every level. Still, great work!
Great concept and artwork.
Not bad - the bomb mechanic is pretty cool. The dashing was strangely unreliable though. After about the third area it seemed like the game could've used a bit of a twist to mix things up a bit. Still, nice work.
err what
Mechanics are a bit simplistic, but a decent effort nonetheless.
Really interesting visual style. The idea of using the thickness of the cross hatching to represent darkness of the shadowed areas is really clever. Obviously, missing some more game like elements here, but as a sort of technical demo it's really great!
Nice little game. I like the minimal color palette. I got him down to 2 and then died from crashing into a building. One thing though...I thought King Kong was the 'villain'?
Wow great job! Really fun, and nice polished presentation. Zombie vomiting was a bit gratuitous though ;)
Haha, pretty nice. The pace of the game seems overwhelming at first, but when you get the hang of things I think it actually become a bit too easy. Still, nice work!
Really nice visuals and cool concept. It's unfortunate it seems so incomplete, but it's definitely a nice start. Great color scheme and low poly models.
Awesome visual style with great looking post processing effets. The 'game' is simple, but the message is strong. Nice work.
Funny, weird, and very satisfying to send those guys flying off the edge of the cliff. The little bell explosion when they hit somewhere in the distance was a nice touch!
Well I've played this about ten times now...I feel like I get the gist of it but at the same time...not really. Could see this being really interesting with a comprehensive tutorial to ease you in to it.
Ermm..the use of the word 'poon' made me very uncomfortable here. Not sure if this was supposed to be a metaphor or...? Uh, anyway nice game - reminded me of the hunting bits in the old school Oregon Trail games.
Wow, incredible! Amazingly complex for 48 hours, but presented in an easily digestible manner. Really enjoyed this - my only complaint would be that it was a bit too easy. Great job!
Very strong entry all around - surprised how many layers there were to this. Besides the water section being a bit too cryptic, the mechanics worked pretty well, and could be great with a little more polish. And of course, the soundtrack is amazing!
Very cool, I think this is a great use of the theme, nice to see new possibilities open open up in the same room, almost like a super condensed Metroidvania. I couldn't figure out what to do when I got the machine gun, but I enjoyed it up til there!
Really creative and unique concept and well executed! I think visually understanding what interactions will happen during the play is a bit confusing and it can move too fast for you to even react. That being said, I enjoyed it!
Very weird, enjoyable little game. I feel like the humor makes up for the simple mechanics. I will cherries the time I spent with it :D
Very interesting vibe - kind of a creepy look into someone's subconscious. Well someone with a few issues they need to work out anyway. Gameplay is a bit fast and hard to get the hang of how to attack without getting hit yourself, but it's a pretty solid entry overall.
Great work for an 11 year old. Congrats and keep making games!
An ambitious game for sure - but a bit frustrating to actually make any progress. I would have expanded on the "begging" minigame, since that seems to be the meat of the gameplay, but the time limit is too short. A solid effort, but doesn't seem very connected to the theme either.
Really cool graphics (especially that title animation wow!), but the gameplay is very hard to decipher. Like am I supposed to let everyone in and why is the timing of the button press seem so hard to nail down? But still really solid effort!
Cool, very nice for a first game. That robot has maybe a tad too much health, but the mechanics overall are pretty solid.
Omg, I love this concept! Very fun to play too. Would be nice if scoring was communicated a bit more clearly, maybe if the blocks actually broke apart if hit hard enough. Anyway, nice work!
Guessing you ran out of time on this one? Seems like it could be interesting but obviously missing some important stuff!
Cool concept and solid execution, but definitely feels like it needs a bit more excitement because, while realistic in some ways, it does get repetitive.
Nice, surprisingly fleshed out w lots of animations and content. I think you did a decent job capturing the vibe of The Stanley Parable, but I think more humor and more extreme situations would help. But for a game jam this is really impressive!
Ok I feel like there's something cool going on here - the box you carry is also the room you are in or something like that right? But the controls and slippery movement make this close to unplayable, sorry to say.
Very cool, I've played Hoplite and I think you've translated the mechanics pretty well here. Of course some power ups or different abilities would spice things up, but for 48 hours this is very solid. Nice retro sound effects too!
Haha, well this is the first escape the room game I played where I actually won! Pretty solid entry, although could definitely use some more polish.
Definitely one of the more unique games I've played this LD, both in terms of type of gameplay and the HTML presentation. That being said, waiting for numbers to slowly increase just isn't that engaging so I couldn't stick with it for too long.
Cool, very solid little platformer with a nice variety of mechanics. One criticism: I feel like the dark areas slowed down the pace of the game unnecessarily. I also didn't really understand the "story" of this game... but still very good effort!
Wow! Really well done, very technically impressive. And great use of stylistic minimalism. Definitely deserves a longer version!
Very well made and cute game! Bopping those sock monkeys feels pretty good, and choosing which direction to launch is a neat mechanic. The game feels a bit too easy though, maybe respawning the bears every turn is too generous?
Good concept, but I feel like the gameplay is a bit hard to grasp. I "won" twice in a row without really understanding what I had done besides clicking the "light" button. Anyway credit for the ambitious idea and dark take on the holidays!
Very cool, nice take on the Tron light-bike style game! Art assets all look very polished and professional. Fun to play even against the AI. Nice work!
Nice, I like the aesthetic - it's a bit gross but in a good way, that fits the theme of the game. Obviously some more gameplay would add to the experience, but still entertaining for what it is!
Simple but certainly functional little shooting game. Definitely could use a little more variety to spice up the gameplay, but a solid effort!
Wow, love the awesomely weird aesthetics of this, feels like a lost classic straight out of the 90s. Dig the jazz man's laid back posture too. Surprisingly fleshed out platforming mechanics w a great twist. Get's a bit too hard to predict the rotation toward the end though.
Cool, pretty solid concept and fun gameplay, but I do think it gets a bit too hard too fast. The environment could use some more variety too, but overall nice work!
Cute game, nice visual style. Feel like the basic idea is pretty good here. Would be nice to have a shadow under the boot though. Seems like there could be multiple levels with increasing difficulty, multiple spiders, or more clutter in the room perhaps.
Nice! The physics here are very fun, if a bit silly, but you can't beat tossing around a giant bookcase. Seems like a very solid escape the room type game. I have to admit I didn't have the patience to solve the puzzles in the big room, but watching the video seems like you came up with some clever stuff.
Pretty impressive for a weekend's work. I think the base for an awesome boss fight is there, just needs some tweaks to the difficulty, and maybe a better sense of when your attacks are connecting.
I like this idea a lot, but the pace is way too fast without enough info to understand what to do to actually keep these cute wood people alive. Nice graphics!
Cool, I feel like this would be a really solid base for a bigger game - the obvious thing missing I think is racing other people, but I'm sure that AI would be hard to program. Anyway, very solid work!
Dang, very cool atmosphere - shame that it seems to end early. I was very intrigued by the set up, would be interesting to see where you were planning on going with this.
Dang, REALLY impressive art and animation here! Really fun to watch the zombie bodies pile up, but obviously a win/loss condition would help take the gameplay to the next level.
Really...strange game. I didn't realize standing in an elevator was so hazardous to my health. I do think being trapped in an elevator is great use of the theme, but the gameplay here isn't very clear.
Nice concept, cool to see the different routes that different characters can take. The controls feel a bit loose, making things a little harder than they need to be, but overall I think this is a solid entry!
Hmmm... it's a bit obtuse, I can't really understand how to interact with things or why things are changing. Still, it's graphically pretty good and the dialogue creates an interesting sort of surreal vibe.
Awesome! Very fun to blow the crap out of those smug rubber duckies. Using the shots to boost your speed is a cool idea, but hard to see where you're going when aiming backwards. Maybe some specific time goals for each level would create a bigger challenge, rather than just going for your personal best. Nice work!
Cool concept, but definitely some room for improvement. It would be nice to be able to control the direction of your attack, it's a bit counter-intuitive to need to run into enemies to attack them. "Feeding" the room is an interesting mechanic, but seems like it requires a lot of resources to make any difference.
Pretty unusual concept, I'll give you that. A bit hard to understand at first, but using the seed to lure the bird to was pretty clever. Solid entry!
Awesome visual style plus the great audio makes for a really nice mood here. Seems like a very solid puzzle game but I have to admit I didn't get very far. Still, I'm impressed!
Nice, good take on the Monument Valley mechanics. It's short but sweet!
Haha, well I certainly think this will do well in the humor category. I mean I'm not sure why my poop doesn't want the other poops to get out - maybe you can explore some or the lore and backstory in the sequel. Anyway, nice work!
