awesome job dude :D

The graphics and the audio were great! I missed an actual gameplay element, but it was still an experience for me!

vintersphrost 2011-08-22 18:57

reminds me of slo-mo canabalt, but this is not a game. altough nice graphics and sound.

agersant 2011-08-22 20:45

Super super pretty graphics and audio. I think gameplay would have distracted from the experience, I like it this way.

matthias_zarzecki 2011-08-22 21:13

Nice trick on making complex 3d-models, only to use the silhouettes. I'll remember that one :-)

ippa 2011-08-22 21:16

this looks and sounds awesome.. but seems I can't get anything on the screen moving. SPACEBAR is supposed to do something ye? I'm on Chrome 14.

foobaz 2011-08-22 21:53

Great graphics. But as others (and yourself) said, more gameplay would be nice.

kato9 2011-08-22 22:00

@ippa Just tested it in Chrome and it worked fine for me. My only guess is that the .swf wasn't in focus - as in, until you've clicked somewhere in the boundaries of the Flash media it won't recognize keyboard controls.

Very interesting entry, I have trouble considering it a game and more an interactive video. I felt this fit the theme very well, and the aesthetics really help sell the fear and distress, conveying a heavy mood that only makes you feel like you want to escape.

I really regret the lack of a more interactive experience that would move it closer to a game, I think this could be done by making exploration possible in multiple directions, and perhaps even removing the time limit and allowing the player some interaction with the world of some kind (crows that fly away when you get near?).

All in all, while lacking in the interactivity department, a memorable experience, and interesting enough for me to press the try again button a couple times.

(The audio was top notch too)

Can't get the game to do anything (and yes I clicked multiple times to put the SWF in focus.) It just sits there for about a minute while it rains and then the robot(?) whines and dies and it says I ran 0 meters.

hybridmind 2011-08-23 00:21

Appears I can't edit my comment. Anyway the game works fine in Firefox apparently but couldn't get it to work in Chrome at all. Unless I'm missing something you just hold spacebar until the end? This thing looks and sounds great but definitely lacking on the 'game' aspects which is a real shame.

scriptblocks 2011-08-23 23:42

It looks really nice.

krang213 2011-08-24 00:56

This game doesn't work in Chrome, seems fine in Firefox. Fitting that I just switched from Firefox to Chrome today, and a game called "No Escape" is forcing me to go back to Firefox ;)

Gameplay was... Well, you made the game, you know how it is. :P Makes a nice art piece though!

surrealix 2011-08-24 18:35

Unfortunately I couldn't get this to run in Chrome either. It animated and looked lovely, but there was no interaction whatsoever. I checked I had the flash focused too.

Although awesome atmosphere, I can't help thinking it's just a glorified movie - that required 38Mb to download something that should probably have been a 1Mb flash file.

Overall it was a very innovative take on the theme, that created a real atmosphere. I'll remember this game/movie/application/art piece longer than most entries I've played.

richmakegame 2011-08-24 22:47

I'm not even sure I would call it an interactive experience if you wedge down the spacebar :). however, as far as mood and audio go it's great :)

hamster_mk_4 2011-08-27 01:13

This is a game where my desk lamp is a better player than I am.

refrag 2011-08-27 23:12

Great atmosphere. Read your Layers Breakdown, congrats on focusing on what you know and building a "game" with the tools you're comfortable with.

nuria 2011-08-28 15:15

Please, make a game next time

orz 2011-08-28 17:36

Not really a game, doesn't fit the theme, and doesn't belong in this compo. But I really liked, the graphics & animation and hope you make one for the next compo.

shigor 2011-08-28 21:27

Excellent atmosphere, both audio and gfx. There's no escape...

But... this is a game making contest, not movie making contest.

arron-fowler 2011-08-29 08:27

I liked the fact it was more of an experience than a game.

rudy 2011-09-04 08:29

Very nice artsy style and great atmosphere. But this is not a game, because there is no gameplay. Fits the theme and nice interpretation, but holding space for a minute is not really interactive media.

angrygeometry 2011-09-11 08:42

looked and sounded utterly astonishing. i made it 57m apparently. i don't know what that means.

ajmilsom 2011-09-12 18:13

awesome graphics, not the most gameplay involved tho, great job

7hesama 2011-09-30 22:03

I would like this a lot better if there was some mechanic to your moving, like controlling each joint or button mashing, as well as a reason for your plight/adversary.
