I think it would be more fun (for me) if there was more of a game element to it. Eg. when catching coins it would be cool to catch something that gave you more time etc. Also the having to click on the cup to move it doesn't feel natural, would be better if it moved with the mouse automatically? I like the overall game! Although not really "One Room"..?

It certainly looks great, fantastic backgrounds. The money catching seemed to takes ages unless I was missing something. I spent two days getting 100$ together only to lose it gambling! Gaaaah. The hairstyles were cool though, if only I could afford them

Cool little game. Start is a bit tedious though, especially if you lose at betting when you finally reach $100. Also don't really see a connection to the theme. Apart from that the game seems pretty polished.

sweet concept, being a begger never felt so ruthless

Pretty good entry all round! I like the begging minigame too but a little more variety could have gone a long way.

Really nice use of show-dont-tell humour too ;)

Super ridiculously grindy, but nice presentation!

It doesn't really fit the theme and it could use some other mini games.
I didn't see the point of sleeping except make the player wait a bit more in order to go to work again.
But I like that you spent time building a context around the one mini game.

Simulator of real life and it is very interesting. The way you can improve it, is to add some goal, and generate different type of work (for example snake)

lohii 2016-12-23 21:31

First of all, I don't really see how this game fits the theme at all, which is a pretty big deal. I liked the individual pieces and the ideas, but in the end it just felt tidious. The rate of which you got the coins was too slow, and even worse was that you could only spend so little collecting them in one session. I liked the look of the game, but I would've wished for slightly more cohesion in the pieces. Individually everything looked nice, but some parts didn't really fit together.

Kind of slow, and I didn't really understand the goal. Really good for your first entry though!

cmlsc 2016-12-23 23:33

I'm having a hard time telling if you actually made all of the art. Because it doesn't seem to match. I found it kind of impressive how much you were able to put in the game though.

This was a surprisingly addictive game. The only real issue I had was that moving the cup to collect cash with the mouse does feel slightly awkward so perhaps you could implement keyboard control with that particular mini-game. Nice sounds, music and artwork. Good job overall.

An ambitious game for sure - but a bit frustrating to actually make any progress. I would have expanded on the "begging" minigame, since that seems to be the meat of the gameplay, but the time limit is too short. A solid effort, but doesn't seem very connected to the theme either.

Interesting concept for a game and a great first entry! The art and the soundtrack are really well done! The only aspect where the game falls a bit short is gameplay. The begging minigame is fun, but you have to grind so much that it eventually become a headache to get to 200$ or more. Also when you get the money for gambling you can lose instantly without doing anything, this is where the game takes all the control away and it feels unfair, adding a card minigame would've made it perfect.

xanjos 2016-12-31 22:44

Pretty fun attempt at a "real life simulator". The main "game loop" (going to work and earning coins) is a bit slow and tedious though and I do wish you could skip the driving transition.

ijzm 2017-01-02 00:30

I like this idea for a game, but think there needs to be more time spent for the gameplay in the minigame, especially with that fancy transition and whatnot. There seems to be some sort of glitch with the audio where a duplicate of the track plays over the current one, and one of the tracks will only stop playing when the window loses focus.

You could definitely expand the gameplay further, maybe even have different jobs or scenarios for this "beggar". Also, the music isn't exactly fitting for the game. It's a little too...romantic and serene. But maybe further expansions to the game would justify it. The beggar can establish a romantic relationship or something haha.

Cool little concept, made a similiar game to this two ludum dares ago but this game was overall really complete and had a somewhat clear goal. Great job!

paulsinnett 2017-01-02 14:04

I like the inventive package of the theme and the mini-games. Very well put together with nice assets. What were the things you had to avoid in the coin collecting mini-game?

oldpeculier 2017-01-02 15:17

This feels like a great game that just didn't quite get done enough. I couldn't make heads or tails of the "going to work" coin collection subgame. Consequently I never got close to having the $100 needed to gamble, which presumably was the point of the game. At the beginning of the game the music started playing twice—twice at the same time. Another day or two of development could have made this great.

pixlwalkr 2017-01-02 18:48

Neat little game, The pixel art is also nice!

jupiter_hadley 2017-04-13 20:30

This game isnt here anymore :(
