Art is adorable. :) The sword growing mechanic reminds me of 3d dot heroes on ps3. Really fun! Certainly one of my favorite LD34 games. Was kinda hoping for a boss at the end though.

Art is adorable. :) The sword growing mechanic reminds me of 3d dot heroes on ps3. Really fun! Certainly one of my favorite LD34 games. Was kinda hoping for a boss at the end though.
Such a cool idea! :) And for some reason I really like the word ''button sniper''. The gravity object feels a bit random without indicator. I would suggest to show field lines. Also some of the levels had (unintended?) easy ways to solve them without using half the level. Overall a very nice entry!
(Btw, thank you very much for the Linux build of my game! Added it to the download list with your username)
Interesting game! Reminds me of rowing(controls) and Katamari Damacy(growing). Turning is a little bit fast but after a while you get used to it. Eventually had to restart because I got stuck between buildings. Either an end goal or a highscore would have been nice but overall I enjoyed playing this game. :)
Sound effect are a bit too loud imo. (Compared to the music)
Cool game! Really liked that the music changed speed and pitch while playing. Only problem for me is that the frame rate wasn't very consistent. (gtx 670)
Became 77! :) Didn't marry in my run so maybe that helped me? Would have been nice if the different attributes were color coded but overall very fun game!
Great idea and execution! Only problem I had was that I would disassemble by accident a lot because I wanted to shoot and thrust at the same time.
This game is really cool! Aside from the sometimes weird physics and the 'I don't know what to do' moments when you enter a new area I really liked it. The diverging paths are great if you get stuck on a hard part of the game. Feels like you are inside a giant machine with all these moving parts. :) Played till the end.
Well done! Had fun playing this. :) Furthest I got was 48 http://puu.sh/m0ux6/8031b89cc9.png (It becomes so hard with 4 screens xD)
Somehow went through a wall once. :o Cool game and very fun! Good use of the theme.
The bucket is just adorable with its little legs. :3 Idea is cool but somehow I couldn't make the first jump? (Even when empty) So either I'm doing something wrong
Figured it out! Watering a plant at the top is kinda weird and unintuitive. Even though I had read the description it should be more clear in the game itself. (Probably would have been better to only water plants at the bottom)
Hope this helps you! ^^
Sprouted for 134 seconds! :) This game is fun. Played for multiple rounds.
Game worked for me. I'm sorry to say this but the game isn't very playable with these controls. It feels like the two button controls were only implemented to fit the theme rather then the game being build around the theme. What makes driving difficult is that after steering to the right you still keep turning to the right for some time. Because of this it's almost impossible to drive to the place you want, and that's kinda bad in a driving game. Graphics and audio are pretty alright though. :)
So much polish and content in one entry. :o Amazing! Very inspiring also. :)
Idea is fun! But still needs quite some polish. Didn't jump much because it didn't feel all that useful. A menu would and a way to reset the game without quitting would be nice. Still, overall pretty good entry. (And first place on the leader board baby! :p)
Character is a bit too slow in my opinion. Couldn't get really far.
Very well made game! Only real problem I had was that it's a bit too easy. Almost always had full hp and armor.
I liked the use of the theme in this one. :) Controls where pretty good once you figured them out.
Score was: 13615.27 :D (Combo 103 and 12.875 hits/second)
Fun little game. :)
Just a sidenote. Did you mean scatter instead of shatter? Because that's pronounced differently.
Idea would have been good but there isn't much to it. Would have been nice if the camera was zoomed out a bit more since the car takes some time to change direction.
Impressive that you were able to do this in 48 hours! Sadly the feedback from your input isn't very noticeable which makes it not very fun to play. Still impressive though!
Personally didn't like the music at all. Rest was pretty good! :)
@djfariel True, game balance was low on my list at the time so mostly in the beginning it isn't always helpful to increase length. (Though score multiplayer always scales with player length)
@pkenney Thank you for the kind words. :) Main reason why I didn't include the graphics/audio categories was because I felt there wasn't much to rate. Haha, in hind sight it might have been better to include those categories.
The parameters you are talking about do change during the game but I agree that the initial values are way to low. Takes half a minute before the fun gets started. (And even longer if you get hit, whoops!)
Fun idea and well executed! However I got stuck on level 7 and don't know how to progress. The only possible move is to teleport up but I don't have a teleport down so I'm stuck if I do that. :s
Cute but it was more of an interactive animation then a game.
The heaps of snow look a bit too similar to the ground so it's kinda hard to see. Game was also very laggy for me so it wasn't easy to play.
Graphics and music are awesome! But I have a few issues with the game. For a game where it's so easy to die, there aren't a lot of checkpoints. Having to replay 4 screens because you hit the front of the stone with the sword in it sucks.
That would maybe be less of an issue if you got some time to look around when entering an(new)area but you instantly have to move. (And probably screw yourself over because of that)
Lastly I think it would have been nice if the snake moved smoother. A few weeks ago I made a snake game in Python and what I did was make the speed 1/X th of the tile size and only allow the character to change direction when 'on grid'. It's practically the same but there are more frames where the character moves. (Which I personally enjoy more)
Overall very nice entry!
Fun little game! Only problem I had was that it sometimes isn't (graphically) clear if you are blowing in the right direction and/or if it is effective till the object completely ignites.
Idea is good! Feels a bit like a Starcraft tower defense. Would have been nice if you were able to build more units and if your progress/results were displayed. Overall pretty good :)
Very nice game! But are you supposed to be able to jump more then once? I could just infinitely jump my way through all the levels. Dialog was fun. :)
Woohoo, finished the game! Those last levels were very hard. ^^" Took me some time to figure out the optimal way to approach a level. Music was lovely and really set a great mood for the game!
Bug:
In certain situations the player moves into the opposite direction before going in the right direction. Looks like the speed vectors aren't reset properly when you die. Made the game waaaayyy more difficult.
Cool little game! Would have been nice if the camera zoomed out as your speed increases. Sometime it's hard to see where you are going so when you see an obstacle it can already be too late.
Little tip about gamers: they are lazy. :p Basically by spam pressing left and right you can win every fight without having to actively think about it.
Pretty good game! Shows how a simple idea can still be fun to play.
I think the frustrating part was that I actually had to put in some effort to get this to run. Did give me a chuckle though so well done I guess? :p
Could have used a little bit more polish but the idea is good. I think the best thing about this game is the graphics. (Though the text feels a bit low res) Gameplay feels a bit simple since the difficulty stays the same. (Or I suck and didn't get far enough for it to change :p )
Would have been nice if coins couldn't spawn inside a cloud. For the score I would recommend to always make a highscore display. At the moment it's kinda hard to know your best run. (+maybe add distance to score)
Fun little game! Only problem is that there doesn't seem to be much progression so I stopped playing after reaching 6300 points. Also the character seems a bit odd since he is better detailed/other art style then the rest of the world.
Not very difficult but I liked the idea! :) The game feels very polished!
Cool game! Really liked the atmosphere. Transforming feels a bit slow so I felt that it was easier to just sneak past everything without getting detected so in stage 2 and 3 I never transformed.
Nice game, some sound effects would have been nice though!
Such a weird idea. xD I like it!
This is a cool idea! :) Only problem is that it doesn't really feel like a puzzle if I can't directly see how well I did. (The points feel meaningless) Keeping the configuration between levels is interesting but I feel like I can't really make a good estimation of how to get the most score with this. (Since the overall shape of the object doesn't really match with how much turns you need to go from one configuration to the other) Also, the particle effects when highlighting an object look kinda weird. Would have been better if you changed the color a little or something similar. Some simple sound effects would have fit the game nicely.
Awesome! Too bad it wasn't so long. Would have liked to play more. :)
Played both the WebGl version and the windows version and I like the Windows version better. Especially since the WebGL version doesn't have shadows which makes it hard to see where exactly you are in the space. Best thing about this entry are the graphics! Really like how the levels are switched out. :) Combat is a bit meh. Doesn't really feel responsive because the enemies barely react to your attacks and there are no sounds effects for the attacks. Overall pretty good entry!
I did ok, I guess? :p
Took me a minute to figure out the controls but the game is very fun!
This game is sooooo cute but I would have liked a version without time. Furthest I got was 2 boxes filled.
Cool game! :) Only issue I have is that it would have been nice if blocks with different functions had different graphics. First time I went past the disappearing platforms I didn't fully understand them.
Cool idea, but the execution could use some work. The Tetris part felt very unresponsive at times so I had a hard time building my ship. Also, please don't make me use both keyboard alone and mouse and keyboard. :p Combat felt a bit non interactive in that it's just keep hitting till one drops dead. (At least with the ship I had I couldn't dodge bullets or do anything interesting in combat) Still, overall cool entry! :)
@duskpn Thank you! :) Sadly that's how the game is made. :p Text was added in the last hour and couldn't figure out at that moment how to get the correct size/location + link them to the stage.
@TheCain That is the end. It is 4 moveable rooms + 1 secret room.
You web version, isn't a web version. :p Music in first map and title screen is nice. The rest not so much. Like how the title screen text bounces around. :) The art is neat! Especially like the smooth animations. The different bullets are weird and since they don't look different I had a hard time using them at first. Couldn't walk back to read the tutorial text again. Overall cool entry dude. :)
I like how the whole game moves. :) The main problem I have with this game is that you can't react fast enough to the obstacles because you can't see far enough in front of you(especially after you avoided object for some time and are closer to the front) and changing shape is a bit slow. Also if you hit an object in the center you can barely get away from it due to the stun which is kinda annoying. Also the game sometimes generates rock formations which are impossible to avoid. Sound effects would have been a nice.
The web version of your game doesn't work well. It doesn't fit the window and when you go full screen the window closes if you try to click on the game. So I downloaded the game. (Would recommend to call the map something else then standalone to avoid confusion)
I like the idea but it is kinda weird that the object on the pillars change after you jump. Especially since these objects don't have a border it's sometimes hard to distinguish between the shapes. (Might have been better this way with a different background) Also would have been nice to have a visual reminder of which buttons correspond to a certain shape. (Kept forgetting :p) Menu music fit okay, gameplay music meh. The shape shifting itself felt unresponsive at times.
Can't get past the first few obstacles. It is impossible to change that fast. (At least for me? :s) Great graphics though.
The controls completely glitched out for me after a few minutes so I had a hard time playing this game. Player kept automatically jump and switching direction. I liked the graphics and the mood though! :) Audio levels are a bit too high for my taste so I had to scale down the audio quite a bit.
Very well done! Wish I could make such a cool game in 68 hours. :p My only issues with the game were the sound puzzle(too long) and dodging enemies felt hard sometimes. I think this might be because it's hard to predict were exactly the enemy will attack and your regular movement is a bit slow. Because of this it felt a bit unfair that there weren't any checkpoints. Still besides all the nitpicking a very nice entry!
Love how surreal this game is! Amazing graphics and audio. Didn't really like the controls though, especially the spinning. I think the phone scene is my favorite, felt very tense! Overall very well done!
Neat idea! Had a hard time using the map but eventually got the hang of it. (I think at least) Sailing was fun but scenery felt a bit samey after some time. Still, well done on your entry! :)
Good idea. Like the silly music! xD I also thought it was funny when a projectile is thrown too far away from the tower. Game could use some re-balancing though because once you get hit you can get in a loop where you get hit before you can wipe it off. The run button felt a bit redundant so I think it would have been better if that was the regular speed.
Very cool idea! Controls could use some tweaking though. The player felt a bit slippery and the snake moves so fast that it is quite difficult. Maybe it's and idea to let the player stick to the snake? Or change the balancing based on if you're playing alone or with someone else. Either way, well done on this entry!
Wow, amazing entry! Solid graphics and I liked that you had to activate a switch after completing a puzzle. Felt very rewarding! Some checkpoints might have been nice but that was only an issue with one puzzle for me.
Cool entry! The machine was very well designed, liked it a lot. Sadly my stack fell backwards so I couldn't complete it without resetting. :'p
Cool entry! I really liked how the camera zoomed out the further you got into the game. That's a really neat way of showing progress instead of a resources/time number. My only issue with the game is that the cost balance is a bit off. Going from a 10 cost building to a 15k cost building is quite steep. Having an option to buy more buildings at once would definitely be nice.
Some words were quite hard but I certainly would play a more fleshed out version of this on mobile. Well done!
Nice entry! Really liked the graphics with the dust particles. Game felt very polished for a 72h game.
Small nitpick: It's a good idea to name your folder something else than generic words like "Release". For people who download a lot of LD games this could be a bit inconvenient.
I think the idea is neat but it is very hard to control. Would be better if you could control all slaves in a menu instead of having to click on them. Still, well done on your first LD entry! :)
Cool entry! :) Just as Xero560 I started rapid firing because that is way more viable. Because of that the draw speed upgrade felt a bit useless. Also it seems like the arrow is not moving towards my mouse even though the arrow is going straight which seems a bit weird. Some feedback while hitting enemies would also be nice because now it feels a bit weird.(Either some knock back, hp bar or something else) Still, well done!
Very good entry! Especially liked the level of polish.(For example the skip level button and all the sound effects) My only issue with the game is that the scrolling isn't very smooth. Don't know if that was because of the .swf version but it made me a bit dizzy. Still, well done!
I like the sound effects but I think the game could have used some more polish even if that would mean there was less content. Font was sometimes a bit hard to read and might be a good idea to allow the player to move while text is happening. Still, this entry is definitely an improvement over your LD34 entry! :) (Which by weird coincidence I played at the time and can still remember)
Cool game! Really liked the art and the SFX/music. Dialog was also well done.
The physics could use some tweaking though. Personally I would make the rope stiffer and let the rocks have some more momentum. (Now they pretty much fall straight to the ground even if your ship is moving fast)
I also think that creating triangles is a bit annoying since you have to move far and make two different ones. Maybe it would be an idea to let the humans create two triangles from one cube instead of one from a rock?
Still, overall good entry! :)
@jscottmiller Well, can't fault you for that cause it does look like a lever. :p Sadly couldn't make a fire model in time. Would have probably helped if the game showed you if an object had an interaction or not. Thank you for the comment!
@SimonHutchinson Yeah, cat ending is best ending. :p
Well, I wanted to give some feedback but seems from your description that you already have a pretty good understanding of what could be improved on. I think the best thing about this entry is the atmosphere. Was fun to see another ~10 hour entry like mine. :)
Scored 405 points! :) Game is a bit hard to control but the idea is cool. Didn't even think of an elevator when brainstorming and this is the first game I've seen with one while it's a good fit for the theme.
Graphics and animations are really neat! Mechanics are a bit bare bones though (which is to be espected from compo) but would have liked to see atleast a blocking mechanic or some audio feedback. I quickly found out that spamming right mouse button is pretty much the best tactic so I only did that. Still a pretty good entry!
Neat idea! :) It's a bit hard to see everything though. Turning movement looks cool but it is a bit slow so it slows down the gameplay quite a bit. Would be nice if it was a bit faster. (Like turning a Rubik's cube.)
Cool little game. Start is a bit tedious though, especially if you lose at betting when you finally reach $100. Also don't really see a connection to the theme. Apart from that the game seems pretty polished.
Neat entry. Really like the start of the game after you pulled the cork. That's a pretty cool transition. Controls could use some polish though.
Neat game. Music really fits the game. Graphics are nice but it kinda feels like the objects are on a background instead of in the scene.
Neat game! Really like how the spiders first walk on the roof before they come down to play. :)
Really like the idea! Game is a bit on the hard side though. I think having building and breaking bricks on the same buttons and determine what happens by the pressed direction would make the controls easier. Currently it's a bit difficult to block an opponent that is chasing you. Still, very good entry!
The game is offline so I can't play.
Neat game! Especially the last level was pretty cool. Controlling the whole group is a bit difficult though mainly because bigger blocks can block the entrance and it feels a bit random to get the right blocks into the exit. Maybe it's better to make the exit some kind of sifting mechanic so you can just rub all the objects over it and have the small ones fall through.
Cool game! Game kinda reminds me of an old dos game called "Vinyl Goddess from Mars". Not really a fan though of the blind jumps and I got stuck at the forest part. Still, very well made and polished game! :)
Played it again after you left a hint about the forest part but I have to say I'm not really a fan of the later parts of the game. :( It feels very punitive, like the bad parts of an I wanna be the guy game. When you drop down in the third dream candle world you could possibly be killed by three blind fall traps and it makes that part feel very trial and error. (All three happened to me in a row. :( ) Especially the long death/enter dream world animation makes it feel very slow. Still think everything else is great just the level design is a weak point. (imo ofcourse)
Like the music. Really adds a lot to the game! Simple and fun game but don't think the mechanics are fun enough to play for longer than I just did. (~10 minutes)
Don't know why but this game reminds me of old school Runescape. xD Game is pretty neat but feels a bit unresponsive. Think some more control would help a lot!
Neat game! :) Tip: if you change the 0 at the end of your dropbox link to a 1 then the download will start immediately instead of first moving you to the dropbox website.
Awesome game! One of my favorites this LD. It's like a modern version of minesweeper. :)
Very good game! Really like the art and the music. Story was genuinely interesting. Not really clear about the ending though. The part with the random antidote and the officer was a bit unclear. Are there different endings?
Neat little game! Was fun trying to figure out the reasoning behind the scoring system. Some music would have been nice though seeing that this is a jam entry.
Like the presents and character. :) Game could be a bit more responsive though. Feels like you're already dead when you see a package falling on your location. File size is a bit weird how it's so huge.
@Senor Salty & @ajayajayaj:
Mmm... that's weird because I am multiplying by Time.Deltatime and on all computers so far I haven't had this problem. Might be some specific problem with the webbuild? :s
@Rakart & @MegaLink:
Ah, just noticed that the web player size was too small so the restart button and level test button were not visible outside full screen mode. Changed it! :)
@Senor Salty & @ajayajayaj:
Ah nvm. I'm using physics to move but apparently I forgot and multiplied the speed by time.deltatime. So basicly it applied twice and became framerate dependent again.
@HolyBlackCat
The puzzles are "one room puzzles" kinda like the ones in Mario Maker.
Neat game! Perspective of the sprites feels a bit off though. Kinda feels like this could have been a game on the Super Nintendo with the sound and looks. :)
Cool game! Would have been nice though if the score was implemented in the table itself. Physics feel a bit weird at times but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little bit of tweaking. Really like the cooking theme of the pinbal machine.
Got 7980 points! :) Pretty fun game and well polished. Good job on this entry.
Kinda neat, but the womb looks a bit weird with the sharp edges in the lines.
Well... it certainly is a room... :p They say you can't polish a turd but this game is very well polished indeed. Good job!
@steve-johnson Hey, saw your comment on my game. Should have mentioned it was an unfinished mess, sorry you had to play it. :p
Just played your game a bit. Props on you for using Pygame! I love pygame. :) Used it myself during LD36. Really like that you included multiple background songs. Also throwing rocks that can be used by your opponents is interesting. My only real issue with the game is that you can walk into your own rocks which makes them a lot harder to use. Also the enemy AI always seems to pick the most optimal choice so sometimes it seems impossible to hit them. Overal pretty good entry. :)
I felt it was easier to just fly past all the enemies but the mood of this game is really nice. :)
Saw your post about the game difficulty so I decided to play it. It's indeed very hard. I think the problem is that you start with too little health and the spikes can very easily hit you multiple times. I came across the same problem with my game(our games are pretty similar in concept) and starting the player with enough resources really helps.
Really like the screen transition! Game is a bit glitchy though. Eventually there were two characters on screen and my energy depleted twice as fast. But overal still a good entry.
@jay-wye There is not enough time to collect them all so don't worry if you don't get them all. ;) Most we got in one run was about 90 I think. We put in so many so that you'll always have enough coins no matter which route you take.
@markd Yeah, I agree on the movement. We used the standard first person controller for Unity and it still took about a day to get it to were it is now. In hindsight it would have been better to make one from scratch since the controller isn't meant for platforming games. It also weirdly coded so expanding on it was quite difficult.
The goal of the game was a bit unclear but overall I think it's very nice. :)
Really like how you did the introduction. :) My only issue with the game is that the pacing is a bit on the slow side.
Good job on your first game! The graphics did a good job at setting the mood. The first level is very difficult though. It would have been better if you could see more below or if there were something like coins that show you the correct way. I think your game would have benefited if you let other people test the game during the jam because then you would get a good indication of the difficuly. The text at the start was also a bit slow in my opinion but overall a nice first LD. :)
Haha, the music made me laugh. xD So sad. Good game!
Love the mood, very upbeat and fun! Game was a bit hard for me but managed to get 3m high! :D
63.51! Great compo game! Like the flip you do when you jump and the simple fun arcade gameplay. Also props for adding a tutorial to the game! The only real issue I had was that the level generation can sometimes be a bit rough. Like swinging to a high platform can be pretty difficult to do in one go.
Dope artstyle. Crunchy sounds and polish. These set the mood perfectly. The gameplay feels a bit slow and after realizing I had to backtrack to find a coin for the vending machine I gave up.
Great art! Game was a bit on the short side but I had fun. :)
Nice use of 3 mechanics combined in one compact little game. Great job!
Nice experiment to create an unstable speed in a golf game. The gameplay isn't very fun though due to the unpredictability factor. Overall the design looks good.
Very cute game, well done! Last level was a bit difficult but the game feels very polished and the art is great!
Managed to get 37 points but got stuck between two blocks. Was really fun though and I like how you did the tutorial and how the difficulty progressed!
Amazing atmosphere, polish and sound design. The part were you are being chased gave me some serious Limbo vibes. The player controls felt a bit sluggish during the exploration parts. Overall amazing little game.
Wow I love your take of the theme. It's certainly unique, well done!
@taeghen Thank you for the feedback. It was an issue that was related to specific hardware that neither of us had run into before but thanks to your comment we were able to fix it pretty quick! :)
@justmars @ryusui @ranzor @jordan-neff @kasmilus @pierrez @mortusnegati Thank you everyone for the comments about the control scheme! We've taken your feedback to heart and now in addition to the old control scheme you can also use keyboard only (spacebar & enter) or use a controller. :)
Got to room 40! Really fun game to play! If I have to nitpick I would say that I would have prefered it if the game started windowed because the text is very difficult for me to read in full screen. Also sometimes I got sucked into the next level while I still wanted to collect something and since resources are very important I think it would be nice if continuing to the next level required a button press. Other than that allround great entry! :)
Really fun use of the tetris blocks! My only gripe would be that I found it a bit difficult to knowingly place bombs/stars in a good spot so those felt effects felt a bit random but other then that it's a very solid entry!
Awesome game! The game controls really smoothly and the ribbon effect looks very fun. I'm really amazed by how polished and complete this feels for a compo game!! My only gripe would be that I feel that the connection to the theme "Limited Space" is a bit light but other than that I think you've managed to make a fun little game this weekend. :)
Had some solid fun playing this with my partner! The game is really nice and juicy and I love how quickly you're able to pick this up and have fun. Hope your able to get enough ratings before the end. :)
Definitely the funniest game I've played this jam haha! I can see that your team had a lot of fun doing the voices. :) I love that they say something both when you pick them up and put them down and it made me real excited every time I saw a new "piece".
Great game, I love the concept! In lvl 1 I instinctively started playing the game and got blocked out immediately. That felt like a real aha! moment. Graphics are fine but the AI artwork felt really out of place to me, I think your game would've been fine without. I wasn't good enough to make it until the end but I would love to see a version that let's you keep playing to see the rest. Very well done for a solo project!
Awesome game!! Very easy to pick up and it felt very fun to tick all the rules off in every level. I also liked that it felt like there was a lot of room to come up with your own solution. My only issue is that in some levels you had a rule to place 0 ominos of a certain color but then there were no pieces of that color so that felt a bit redundant. Also maybe some chill background music but other than that this is the perfect little ludum dare game to me! :)
Love to see a pico-8 game and this one is so well done!! Amazing entry. :)
I reached lvl 52 with 22210 score! It seems eventually the game doesn't increase in difficulty anymore so I could just keep going? Would be nice if the game kept becoming more difficuly until you're forced to lose so there's an end point. Really fun little game. :)
I really liked the mood of this game, very chill! Some of the levels seemed very difficult at first but somehow I managed to complete all of them.
This is my favorite game I've played so far in this jam! Great game feel and the game is very polished. +1 for big woman.
Great take on the theme! I really like how the beaches change the landscape with time and that you can use knowledge checkpoints to become more efficient in later runs. The only thing that I would have liked to see is that the information you gather would be stored ingame because I had to rely on screenshots to beat this game. Overall well done on making a fun game!
Really nice game! I like how you can choose your starting loadout. I do think that a little more time on audio and less on the graphics would have made for an overall better entry but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is an amazing compo entry.
Good job on making a fun relaxing game! Really enjoyed playing it. :)
The window resize mechanic really took me by surprise! I felt so bad when the unicorn died you did a really good job in making me feel ashamed haha.
Good job on your first jam game! I really like the bouncy physics. Like other people have said walking up to the ocean with a box makes it really easy to win but when there are 4 angels it feels almost impossible to throw them in the ocean from a distance. But I'm sure you've learned a lot and I'd love to see what you make in the next jam!
I got 2:45! Love the music, the soundtrack is a banger! My only complaint would be that sometimes the collecting feels a bit janky when you've grabbed something and you keep rotating around eachother without collecting. But otherwise good job on making a very fun and well polished game. :)
I think the cups stacking at the bottom and filling up the room is a really clever take on the bullet hell genre! Initially I didn't understand that I needed to hold spacebar to fire so I think that could be better communicated and like others have commented a restart button would be good. The art has a lot of personality which I like. Overall I think some more polish would have really helped the game shine because I think that holds it a bit back now but otherwise this is a very good entry!
I managed to beat the bully! Wow I was really amazed that the game started out with a cutscene and has a really nice tutorial! Very strong start. I felt it was bit difficult to deduce how much snow I could take from a spot so what I ended up doing was take 1 from every space and that made it very easy to win the game. Great job on this solo entry. :)
Nice game! I think you managed to make a really good vibe with the music and the nice and clean graphics. I only wish the dragging was a little bit more fun because now it feels too tedious. This was especially when I was almost done with lvl 4 but the bookcase got stuck in another furniture and I had to restart because there was no way to get them unstuck. But other than that well done on this compo entry! :)
Really fun entry! I got up to 17/18 stars I think? I liked the progression of difficulty until the 4th color was introduced which completely overwhelmed me. But other than that I think the mood was great and the gameplay felt very fun and direct!
Good job on your first game jam! I really liked the UI for the jump recharge and the drawings are well done. Like others said the bottom platform feels a bit pointless so it would be nice if the player had more incentive to use the bottom platform. Would have like to have something like a timer to see how well my attempt was.
Really fun and clever idea! Also well executed.
Awesome game! The only issue I had was that run starts the game so when you go game over you can't read the text if you accidentally keep typing run. :p I think it said I survived in 45 seconds after I shot a zombie?
@kanity Thank you!
My original plan for the scene transition was to have an object "Scene Mover" in each scene with a reference to the next level and a LoadLevel function. Then I would have this object subscribe to a signal from the GameManager so I can trigger the next level whenever I want. But from what I understand this causes circular references which break the scenes. So yeah I think either loading it from a string path like you said or having one central scene loader would fix the issue.
And I wish I could export to web but sadly at the moment when you use C# code you can't export to web.
@zazzar Thank you for the feedback!
I think indeed the selection commands could be a bit clearer. Basically when you click on these commands you come in a selection mode that let's you select a unique building. Then the character will look around from their own point of view which buildings it can find with that description (green building). If the character can see multiple landmarks with this description it will pick the one closest to the direction it was already looking at.
My original plan was to also give the characters quirks like color blindness so you really had to think through how each character would react to a command. But this idea was probably already way overscoped haha ^^"
@mossgames Happy to hear. Linux is great! :)
@conradoclark Thank you for your comment! I really like "Is this seat taken?" so it was probably part of the inspiration for me.
Move towards/Turn towards are designed to be deterministic but the way I animated it makes it feel random. Also I just tested a little more and I think there's probably a bug in the logic too haha.
In theory a character will go towards the landmark that's closest to their initial viewing direction. There are two green buildings so a character looking to the right will go to the right one, and a character looking up will go towards the top one.
Glad to hear you still enjoyed it! I've continued working on it so I hope I can get a proper prototype out soon.
Nice graphics and fun idea! Kinda feels like a reverse tower defense game where you have to make your own path. Took me a while to understand that the boat only has to be in the signal for a little bit to go in a direction and not the whole time. At first it felt a little too difficult because my boats kept going into the towers. Feels very polished for a 3 day game!
Interesting take on the theme! For me the web build worked fine. I was able to get 3 out of the 5 dreams before I got to the ending. The audio was maybe a little too 'ASMR' for my taste but overall good job on having so many different sounds for a compo game. I'm a big fan of AstralShift and this reminded me of their work.
@kanity Yeah I love Little Goody Two Shoes! Can highly recommend playing it. I even have a plush of the main character Elise and I listen to the soundtrack a lot haha. I'm certain you'll enjoy the dream-like night sequences!! The 'sequel' Pocket Mirror is also fun but the story is a bit harder to understand at first.
Damn this is one of my favorite ludum dare games from all the years I've participated! Strong writing, cool mechanic and the art is a joy on the eyes. I really got pulled into the world with this one. Would totally play more of this. Has your group made other games besides these on ludum dare? I'm very intrigued.
Cool game! Took me a little time to figure out the signal mechanic because I could jump past the obstacle and encountered the monster. Half expected a monster to spawn when picking up the key haha. You definitely managed to capture the spirit of horror games so 5 stars on mood from me. My only complaint is that the noise at the end when you activate the tower is a little too rough on the ears. Good job on your first game jam.
