LD38 — A Small World

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-01T18:44:23Z

This game is absolutely perfect.

Great visuals, totally fitting the mood of the game, the mechanics are simple and intuitive, the quacken is genius, but the audio is the top of everything!

Very replayable and will definitely replay it.

Impressive work for 48 hours, this is very inspiring!

StopWatch by SkullPixel 2017-05-04T14:43:03Z

Wow, wonderful entry!

Everything is so minimal (start menu, UI, controls, graphics, music, gameplay) yet so effective!

It would be good to have own highest score displayed.

I also have lost because of an enemy hidden behind a tree.

But I love this kind of "survival" games!

Great job!

Command Ant Conquer by JuDelCo 2017-05-02T14:23:55Z

Well done!

Music is great, visuals are great, design is great, what can I say more? Totally enjoyable!

I was a bit concerned at the start screen when I had to play with 2 players, I thought I should play against myself, but instead I was glad I was against 3 AIs and not 4!

Great work, really

Protolife by icxon 2017-05-02T12:23:05Z

This game is absolutely clever!

As @gurbx said it is great to have a tower defense where you have to "build" the towers.

In a status of yours I've seen that the aminoacids act as the Conway's Game of Life, so I tried the Paul Callahan's 5×5 infinite growth pattern and it worked! One bad thing is that I only got to make it work at the second stage, since in the next stages you don't have enough time or aminoacids to do it.

This game is fun and I tried my best to make it progress as much as I can, but I think it gets too hard too soon (I think I stopped trying at the 4th or 5th level).

I guess you did it on purpose, but the fact that I cannot navigate through the infection sometimes made me stuck with the cursor between the infection and the wall, powerless watching my cell being invaded by the infection. Maybe a key to restart the level can be helpful in situation like that.

Impressive work, seriously!

A Small World Cup by rujo 2017-05-05T12:53:13Z

The hipster me is ashamed of how much fun I had playing this game.

Really, just add sound and this would be a perfect super-funny super-silly toy!

6/5 fun!

Carefulzilla by glimaleite 2017-05-08T09:15:16Z

That's hilarious!

Wonderful entry, visuals are very good and even for a generated music loop, it seems to match perfectly the mood of the game.

The toes are creepy and funny, the ragdoll effect add to the goofiness feeling.

Even the name is genious!

Great job!

Planet CLTV-8 by graebor 2017-05-01T17:22:33Z

Lovely, really lovely.

I already played it as soon as you loaded it on itch.io since I follow you since Sort the Court :)

Great graphics and interesting audio environment.

It's a pity there is no end to it, like knowing if I did good or bad. But you said it's a toy, so I guess it's ok!

Great work!

An Ant World by wolar 2017-05-04T15:59:12Z

Wow, I wish my game was like this...

Maybe some "goals" or winning conditions would have been good. Also I think I ran out of every resources, but the hive didn't seem to suffer for it.

It's impressive how much work you guys have done in just 2 days!

Very inspiring!

Run, U Fool! by zgragselus 2017-04-28T14:46:15Z

Wonderfully executed!

My PC is not the best performance, but with the fastest configuration at 800x600 resolution the FPS was acceptable, it just dropped dramatically when a whole circle of platforms collapse.

Nice and fun, great work!

P.S. I played with the WASD keys and the direction was slightly diagonal, not straight as the direction of the corridors.

Planet Desumaton by SiegfriedCroes 2017-05-01T17:58:25Z

This game is super cute. Love the art, the expressions, the trails, the animation, the mechanics.

Maybe I'd have liked much an escalation of levels and not playing from start against the big boss (I died a few times before winning), but the game is absolutely perfect!

Great work!

Edge of the Abyss by piscythe 2017-05-05T09:33:58Z

I'm not a real TD expert, so at first I thought it was too hard and unbalanced (the first tries I managed to survive at most 4 minutes...).

But then after reading the other comments I tried a strategy and got to 16:56.

Well, if it made me try to do better and better it surely means this game is fun! I'll definitely try to beat the 16:30 wave...

I'm impressed at how many items are in this game, great work!

Here are some constructive critics, just because I think this game has good potential and there are just a few things (IMHO) to make it perfect. Some are just my obsession for the interface, so don't take them too seriously: * I hate when the seconds are not padded in a time display, so, in the clock at the bottom right corner, 0:06 would be better than 0:6 * items creation buttons in the left side have on hover effect even if I don't have enough money to buy it. It's good only if you make a sound like a buzz if I click on it and I can't afford it * a tooltip on the items creation button would be extremely helpful, with that it wouldn't be necessary to read your game description. Something like: `Seraph: needs Temple. Health: 150. Range: 75. Speed: 200. Damage: 250/4s.` * when I'm positioning a building it would be good to have some green and red areas to let me know where I can put it and also a circle around the dragged building to identify the area that it will occupy * some simple sounds would have been good, even generated by [ChipTone](http://sfbgames.com/chiptone/), at least when my building explode * a better lose screen, so I can restart without refreshing the page (I played the web version)

Rocket Roller Space Polo by pkenney 2017-05-17T13:18:55Z

I don't know if this is the best game I played on this LD 38, but it is definitely the one I played most!

Sometimes when I'm waiting for the build to complete when I'm working, then I start Rocket Roller Space Polo and do a fast match.

So simple and so effective! It's funny how it can be so difficult even if the enemies have no AI at all.

Great job!

Prison Blues by Drury 2017-05-17T14:50:50Z

Great story! I want to know more!

I hoped that the game finished with "to be continued..." to be sure that you're planning to keep working on it, because the story is so intriguing.

The soundtrack choice also is perfect.

The only downsides are: * it is too short, but you focused on the story and in my opinion it worked, since I want more! * I know that I can press spacebar to skip the captions, but a full "skip scene" would it be great. For this prototype I think it is not necessary, because the most of the game is in the story so there's no need to skip it, given that unfortunately at current stage there is almost no replayability

Great work and please continue!

Dwelling by aeveis 2017-05-08T10:21:43Z

Ouch, that was a punch in the stomach...

What I get is: if you can't by yourself then sacrifice for the others, if you succeed is just because other sacrificed themselves for your sake.

Greatly polished, simple to control but a bit tricky to understand how to get to the top, and with a deep moral lesson too!

I didn't expect that much from a Ludum Dare submission.

Amazing job!

Super Collapse Guy by crazi456 2017-04-26T08:02:41Z

Wow, very cool concept! Maybe the guys with a knife could have been more challenging, but I really wish to play some more levels, so I think this is a good thing for a game.

Great work!

Time Loop by wellingtonbecker 2017-05-08T08:38:25Z

I love hardcore 2D platform games!

I agree with everything @nbylik said: I don't mind dying infinite times in hardcore games, but I want to be able to die 2754 times per minute, I don't want to wait some seconds after I fell. Also the game is already hard enough, let me jump from the edge of the platform!

Maybe I would have liked much jumping with the UP arrow instead of space, so I could scratch my nose while I constantly repeat the same level.

Apart from that this game is great: * minimal and simple graphics * the concept of zooming to the world is funny and effective * the music loop would have been too short for another kind of game, but it matches perfectly with your game since it contributes, together with the zooming, to let you run as fast as possible right to your death

Impressive work for a 48 hour game!

Tell me how can I know when you'll design some more levels in a post-compo edition!

A lone colony on a small planet by makiki99 2017-05-12T09:15:25Z

Cool! It took me 2 hours and 12 minutes to purify all the cells! (Not of continuous playing, I need to work, you know?)

The game is very solid nad I think the balance went out exactly as you expected, since at the end of the "purifying" there is very little room to colonize yet!

Also the idea of purifying the planet with quarries, coal and oil refineries is very clever :D

It could be a bit slow at the beginning, and maybe just my illness in seeing uncompleted stuff (like "oh no, there's a square I didn't explore yet") made go through the end of the game.

Maybe you were thinking about me when developing this?

Great job!

Bookolism by Germanicus 2017-05-16T10:35:31Z

I'm trying the web build but the game seems to not work at all...

I just see some objects sliding to the left and the writing "Game over" :(

Lead the Ants by matita 2017-04-26T21:29:17Z

Thanks for the kind comments! Being my first time at doing a game, and obviously first Ludum Dare, I failed to plan my work, so I couldn't fit a little level design nor a random level generation at least... I'm thinking about a post-jam version with different terrains and maybe some unexpected situations you have to resolve during some levels.

Lead the Ants by matita 2017-05-01T11:28:10Z

Thank you very much for all your feedback!

I know the game is not very challenging for the player and there is a lot of time the player has nothing to do... maybe it would have been a better entry for the slow game jam :D

As I said being my first game and my first LD I didn't plan correctly my time, so I didn't have time to think and program some real challenge, so I focused on making the ants behaviour the most realistic possible. Glad at least this effort seems to have passed through!

Sure I still have a lot to learn in gamedev...

Lead the Ants by matita 2017-05-03T07:30:02Z

Thank you very much for all your feedback!

@bestnickname actually it ended up more as a simulation than an actual game, so a totally automated mode should not be excluded!

As soon as I have time among work, playing, voting and commenting other games I will respond to all the feedbacks in my post-mortem post.

Smoke, the machine keeper ☁ by Plumepox 2017-04-26T15:34:35Z

Visuals are very cute! The objective of the game is not very clear, though. At first I kept fixing the steams and didn't get how the money indicator works or what's its use.

But a good job!

Chalk Run by TheMadPangolin 2017-05-18T06:43:30Z

Nice concept, and I think it matches the theme perfectly, with the "world" shrinking by erasing platforms.

The gameplay is very clear as soon as the other hand starts deleting platforms.

Maybe there should be more challenge, or at least give me a purpose other than just survive (like collecting coins, taking powerups, ...).

A great job for a first Ludum Dare submission!

Little Big Square by emanon 2017-05-02T07:39:15Z

Ha! Proudly made it to "THE END"!

That's clever, wonderful game design and level design!

Some levels seem like there's no way to beat them, but wandering around and making the brain work you know there is a way.

The graphics are a perfect fit for the idea of the game, but I cannot give the top score since other people made impressive work visually.

Just one note: it's not very clear how the hitbox with the light green area (shrink/expand) works. Maybe that's what you wanted since some times trying to center the box to expand is very frustrating.

So you guys made a complete game in 72 hours, impressive!

World on the Tip of a Ballpoint Pen by HacksawUnit 2017-05-08T10:38:27Z

The atmosphere is great, also the gameplay.

The weird language the characters speak, the contrasting colors, the strange flora, the complicated map, the misterious flame, the almighty eye...

I know it's short and it didn't come like you wanted it to, but it totally captured me.

Please tell me you're planning to have a good story and a 2-hours gameplay adventure in this world, because now I need it!

Followed you on Twitter just in case you'll actually do it ;)

Down the Rabbit Hole by those-30-ninjas 2017-04-28T15:59:52Z

Wow, this is one of the few LD games I played that can be seen as a complete game!

Super cute graphics, great music and a very strong game design.

Please tell me you had it already designed or at least deep thought before LD started, because the movement system it's working so well. It took me some time to get used to it, but when you get it it seems perfect. The bunnies also have a good AI.

I didn't get to the end, and it's also not very clear if there is an end. Maybe you did it on purpose to force the players to play as long as they can! But I bookmarked it and I'll definitely try to finish it.

Great work!

Crater Creator by navot 2017-04-28T12:30:00Z

Wow, that's clever!

I love how the coloured trajectories give an hint on the collision.

It is hard but not impossible, and this is a great push to let the player keep playing your game!

Just a couple of notes, but I can see other people already told you: 1. the validation is a bit strict, I couldn't go beyond 5% so far 2. shift for boost is quite uncomfortable, maybe I would prefer the classic W. Also on Windows if you press 5 times Shift consecutively it makes you enable permanent press for accesibility.

Great work!

Cartography by Zorg 2017-05-01T18:25:29Z

Great entry for LD!

I like the minimalism of the graphics and the short field of view is perfect to give an impression of claustrophobia and try to draw a map of the small world as the game title suggested ;)

I maybe tried a bit more than expected since I didn't have pen and paper beside me, so I tried to remember all the paths (even though at the end I went a bit random).

Great work!

The Dance We Do by PapyPilgrim 2017-04-28T16:25:25Z

Relaxing and poetic indeed. Totally not disappointed!

Very weel done, also I think the graphic is absolutely beautiful.

It was a little laggy when the pictures began to grow in size, but I enjoyed it very much.

Great work!

Marbleverse by Marc Grabow 2017-04-26T16:08:54Z

Pretty fun clicker! Love the graphics and the general feel. I didn't get the goal was to generate prays until the second try. BTW I scored 340p on my third try.

Regarding the hitbox issue (quite annoying) I saw using a Voronoi implementation to improve usability when clicking on a small chart with a lot of points of interests (e.g. https://www.visualcinnamon.com/2015/07/voronoi.html)

Good job!

Universal Journey by mundell 2017-05-01T17:08:16Z

This is fun!

I absolutely love the pixel perfect graphics and the gameplay is simple, intuitive and creative.

I also noted that sometimes the actual path does not reflect the prediction but it didn't make the game unusable.

Great work!

Little Sky Farm by H4kor 2017-05-03T07:12:54Z

I couldn't leave before I finished all the game, I wanted to play other games to vote but you caught me for 59 minutes and 45 seconds :D

Lol'd for the final scene.

The game is well structured, graphics are minimal but good, the numbers of the resources are hard to read, mostly on the stone item, it took me a while before I got that interacting with the mine actually incremented my stones. I suggest to put at least an outline of a contrasted color around the numbers. Also during the night almost everything is hard to see, plus the stars are in the foreground instead of the background, they are also above the house menu! (I played the browser version, if it's relevant)

Music is perfect for the mood of the game.

Great work!

Little Sky Farm by H4kor 2017-05-04T07:35:02Z

@h4kor is it a trick to let me play your game again? Well, you made it. I'm going to play it again and try to win faster!

smallworld by misterstripey 2017-05-18T15:24:12Z

Concept is funny and art is good!

Some notes about the game if you think they are useful: * I agree with @skruffye about the missile: if the missile is just a stun (like freezing me for a couple of seconds) then I could try to escape again * maybe also some kind of lives system could be good, like I have to be hit 3 times by the bad guy before I die, otherwise the game just seems impossible * a UI suggestion I care a lot about: when I only need one device to play the game (for example the keyboard, since I only need WASD to play), please don't force me to use another device (like the mouse) to do trivial tasks like skip the intro and restart the level. Just let me do them with the same device (like "press spacebar to skip/restart")

But you created a complete game with music, graphics, gameplay, and even a story at your first Ludum Dare! Great job!

Tiny Invasion by James Hartley 2017-05-15T12:43:54Z

Funny game! Graphics are super nice, there are a lot of objects in the screen, also particles effect and the framerate is always great, and my PC is not at all a gaming beast!

Here are some suggestions/notes about what could be better: * it feels a bit weird a game where you have to defend your planet but the best strategy is making enemies crash onto your planet by dodging them, it took me some time to understand that the health bar was not about the planet but about the character * I think it is cool to have the character react to things in the main menu (like following the mouse and shooting) but at first I thought the game was bugged since no enemy were arriving while I was waiting, then I noticed the "Start Tiny Invasion" button... Maybe you could do the button more visible * There are A LOT of enemies at the same time! It seems to be in a costant Zerg rush, which is kinda cool, but maybe the difficulty could have been more gradual. I just started the game to see the first wave I have to fight and it is like this: 20 red critters in a row, one yellow critter every second and three big yellow monsters, all of them in the same screen! * I recently saw a talk about how to improve action games "feel" and I think it could be of interest for you (if you don't know it yet) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U

Great job for a compo entry, given also that you couldn't spend the whole days programming! (Read it in your posts, hope everything's okay)

Going Home by Kyona Luya 2017-04-28T15:09:45Z

At first I thought it was too simple but I couldn't stop exploring and I needed to explore it all to the end.

Just one note: the background music that is not a proper loop is a bit annoying.

Well done!

Spabullare by Chuck Zelvis 2017-05-19T10:59:46Z

You know what? I think this game is actually enjoyable like it is right now!

I started playing without reading the instructions and this is what I thought: * the controls are intuitive and quite clear, I knew I could shoot because I saw your cover image with green bullets and it took me relatively small time to understand that WASD is the way, since the ship as a 4-way shape that's very clear * I felt the shoot rate and speed of the bullets was way too slow, and after dying a couple of times I thought "this game would be cool if I could buy upgrades for the weapons" then I noticed I could click on the cannons in the purchase screen and I was super happy! * the game is not very unbalanced as you advertised, I want my money back! Jokes aside, the only thing that I find unfair is that the enemies can aim at me instead of shooting just horizontal or vertical * actually you could sell the basicness of the game as a feature, and implement something like Evoland does and let the players decide if they prefer being strong or with cool appearance buy buying upgrades

Great job!

Tiny Empire by Matthew Roelle 2017-05-07T16:10:30Z

I like the concept, and also the minimal icons for the buildings, ships, etc. is very cool.

Being a game done in 72 hours I think it's normal that there isn't a tutorial and not many informations on the items you can build, but with some try and fail the basic logics of the game are understandable.

My highest score so far is 7669, I don't know if it is good or not.

There are some things I don't understand: * is it me or maybe the game is a bit unbalanced? I couldn't manage to conquer more than 3 planets, and as soon as I get to that a lot of enemies come and destroy everything, like it was a zerg rush against a noob... * what should I do as soon as a planet finishes all the available resources (the number at the center of the planet)? Just use it as a ships factory? * it isn't clear that every planet can have only 5 buildings, maybe an indicator or a feedback when I try to build the sixth building wouldn't hurt * some stats would have been helpful about the ships you can build: what is a drone for? What is the difference between scouts and tanks?

Other than that I think this game has good potential!

Great work!

War of Quiz! by orquigames 2017-05-08T14:51:34Z

The concept is cool but it is a bit too easy in my opinion, mostly because 3 possible answers out of 4 are TOTALLY wrong. I managed to answer most of the questions without even reading the whole question: if a question starts with "who" and there is only one option with a name, while the other options are "Asia", "So happy" and "Zombie", then the correct answer is quite obvious, even if you don't understand the question.

But good job! You finished the game with graphics, development, music, start menu and winning and losing conditions at your first Ludum Dare!

War of Quiz! by orquigames 2017-05-09T13:11:33Z

@orquigames what you could do is having different lists of possible answers grouped by type, you store the questions with also the type of answer they expect, so the other options are taken randomly among the same list.

E.g. you have a list of names, a list of years, a list of videogames, and when the question is "who is the only man (at 2009) to have won motorbike and F1 car world championships?" you select the remaining options among the list of names.

(Sorry if I make too many suggestions...)

Den by La mecanique du plastique 2017-04-26T08:28:55Z

Wonderful atmosphere, I love the color palette and the background music. The narrow tunnels give a sense of claustrophobia but in a good way. What maybe could have been better is to explain what the player has to do to win the game. Also I was stuck in the last base, when I scream I still hear humans crying, but tried every corner and still cannot find where the last humans are.

Great work though!

MiniPolis by korvyashka 2017-05-11T09:49:34Z

Graphics are lovely, music is a perfect fit and the gameplay is innovative and simple to understand after the first run.

I'd have loved a timer that tells me how much I survived, in order to better see my progressions.

Also when a city is destroyed maybe the feedback should be more visible: the third time I was looking at the city on the corner and it took me some time to figure out why everything was still (I initially thought at a bug).

Good job!

Space Snake by Hunter Loftis 2017-05-15T13:16:57Z

Love it!

The art is minimal and essential, the fact that the worm grows appendices when it is growing is great, looking like a scolopendra is terrible, but that's just because of my fear :D

To make it even more minimal you could have used just one button to control the snake: basically it just switches direction to move forward, plus make it mouse-down or tap and you have a fully functioning mobile interface without the needs of any graphical button in the interface on a touch screen.

So bad it doesn't have audio, maybe it doesn't need a soundtrack, but some echoed sound.

I also wanted to play it forever, make me follow a caravan of escaping ships that lead me to another star and make me swallow the whole galaxy! (I know, maybe it is too much for a compo entry...)

Great job, really!

Edit: I forgot to add, Vanilla Javascript? You're my hero

LD39 — Running out of Power

Energy Collector by peremily 2017-08-01T14:54:30Z

Fun game and quite relaxing to watch, all those ships all that money flowing through MY financial empire!

Maybe it is too easy, seems like there is no losing condition, or at least it is very easy to manage the buildings in order to have the money always going up.

The controls are a bit weird: it took me some tries to understand that I deploy buildings by clicking with the right button (I always try without the instructions first, in order to see how naturally the controls have been implemented). I found out I can zoom out by mistake, I tried to scroll to read the description on itch.io. And since I'm doing everything with the mouse I expected I could pan the map by drag, I had to read your instructions to understand it was WASD.

But great job for a Compo!

Precious Cargo by CMLSC 2017-08-01T16:42:49Z

Great entry!

I love your pixel art style, it could be maybe a bit of confusion when there are a lot of enemies around you, but you just have to keep pressing C and go to your target :D

The random generator sometimes it is too stingy, in one run I lost just because I only found 2 enemy ships with crystals and another one was too high to reach it.

Maybe a double jump mechanic would have benefit for the ships there are way too high.

But I had a great time struggling to reach the end!

Great job!

Lightbulb by Ltven0mI 2017-08-22T13:00:15Z

What to say? In the end it's just click a button... but in a very stylish way!

I really mean it, graphics and audio are really good! Not that there is much else, but you did a great job for a last minute entry!

Ministry of Synthesis by impbox 2017-08-01T15:58:17Z

I followed the development on twitter and was so keen to try it! Obviously the art is gorgeous!

The concept is very clever and interesting, but as other people already said it gets too hard too soon and you just try different combinations to see if it works. Some tutorial levels would have been great, but you already did a huge work for 48 hours!

Maybe also a playground where you can experiment with all the oscillators and the effects to see what the result wave is would have been helpful.

Needless to say I'll be following the post compo developments!

Pokkie by tijmentio 2017-08-21T13:45:49Z

Lol, very clever idea!

It would have been fun to also have a Facebook or Twitter app :D

I didn't expect that when I reopened the game again the smartphone would be still powerless, but luckily I managed to recharge it up to 200%!

I thought I would be the only one to put flappy bird in a LD game, I'm glad I'm not alone :D

I watched some progress on Twitter and couldn't wait to play it, not disappointed at all. (needless to say I love the graphic style)

Solaris by wenright 2017-08-17T15:11:53Z

A bit simple but funny game!

Loved the art and the recharging through the light.

Great job!

Dare to Ludum by matita 2017-08-01T14:00:03Z

@peremily I hope it's clear that it was a joke :) I originally wanted it to be just one of the minigames, but it ended up much more preeminent than I expected...

@red-fan-games I wanted it to be hard to reflect the difficulty of finding a fun idea for LD, but not that hard! Maybe I should have widened that gap.

Thanks for your feedback!

Dare to Ludum by matita 2017-08-02T13:01:58Z

@simonhutchinson I knew this was a risk, but I was too late in the development when I realized it...

@richard-jedlicka you're not the only one who told me this, I have made the gap a bit bigger, I think it is in LD rules to fix issues that stop players to finish the game...

Dare to Ludum by matita 2017-08-03T11:02:06Z

@j-nat I totally get it, thanks for your honesty. I guess I'll never do an error like this in the future...

@cnoble thank you very much! I had ideas for other minigames, but the scope was too big even at the current state... I'm so glad you liked it!

@prodigalson I'm so glad you got the spirit that was behind this game, the struggle of finding an original idea but falling back on unoriginal ones (the same mistake I did in the game itself)! Lol, the crash was not intentional, if you could give me some details I'll try to fix it.

@belga45 thank you for the kind words! I'm so glad you liked it!

@theflyingkeyboard you almost made me cry :')

@willdata I'm so glad you liked it! Yeah, I also had the feeling that coding was way too easy, the bug fighting with the mouse is actually a clever idea!

@klowner eheheh that was the point ;)

@easy82 Thank you very much for your kind words! I actually had the idea of making you play the game you made, but I should have think about a plethora of assets and gameplays! :D

Lantern by Kaban 2017-08-01T15:07:25Z

The game is simple and it works, but the art stands out and the audio is amazing!

You guys really created a perfect mood, a perfect simple horror game!

The main character art reminds me of Tim Burton, maybe it is what you wanted but it's a great fit for the mood you created.

Very well played!

Berzerk Hunt by TheFunAttic 2017-08-17T14:16:29Z

Great entry! Reminds me of this great old LD entry https://pietro-ferrantelli.itch.io/mobs-inc that I loved, so it is a good thing ;)

Good gameplay, and funny story!

As others said I also found the bug of a control that remains stuck, but you just need to re-press that button and it works again. If it could be of any help when it happens there is a little lag, like it skipped the frame when it checks if the control is not pressed anymore.

Great job!

Stellar Blackout by azsteak 2017-08-21T10:46:17Z

Love the atmosphere of this game!

Love the graphics, the different panels that shut down by lowering cpu consumption, the audio!

Some times it happens that the solar panels do not work anymore, without any warning or prompt to repair them. The logs say that if I noticed a malfunctioning module I should warn the administrator but I don't know how to do it :(

I wish I could manage to stay alive for more than 1 day, but I had fun trying it! :D

Long Distance Runner by easy82 2017-08-21T09:47:36Z

Simple but fun game!

As others already said there are some times where I cannot dodge any obstacle, a pure random is not always a good choice game design-wisely ;)

But I loved the graphics and the music choice, also the incredibly simple (in a good way) and straightforward UI!

Great job!

Dynasty Through The Decades by Jamie McClenaghan 2017-08-01T13:29:51Z

The concept is very cool, the copywriting is very well thought and the voice over is more than awesome!

I think what it misses is a losing condition. In my opinion a losing condition is the most important thing in a game. I honestly (sorry) wouldn't play it again to see if I can do better than before, since one time I managed to arrive to year 3000 doing literally nothing but dismissing the dialogs.

But it was fun to play with the actions (wow, so many!) and see how they influence the different kind of population. I noticed that usually supporting science lowered my power, was it because I had just a small percentage of scientists in my population or is it something like "the smarter the people are, the lesser are afreaid of the monarchs"?

Good job!

Batt(l)ery by Richard Jedlicka 2017-08-02T15:36:47Z

The concept of a shared battery is very interesting, but I don't think that it opens up to a lot of strategy, since it penalize both players at the same manner. But I played alone, so I don't know how would I react in a real game against an opponent.

When I first picked up the batteries I did wonder why the main power didn't recharge, then I saw the batteries near the heart and I understood I should have to use them.

As others already said the time you need to kill the opponent and to recharge is a bit too much (25 seconds? Ouch, make it 3!).

It seems I only have negative comments, but actually I liked the game very much, it sure has potential!

And the visuals are so cute!

Good job!

Furnace Knight by Juman22 2017-08-21T12:15:22Z

This game is fun!

I managed to burn 37 enemies and it is funny to see them flying to the furnace!

I maybe would have lowered a bit the platforms in order to be able to reach them with a single jump instead of double.

Great job!

Powerless Miner by MajamiLTU 2017-08-01T13:45:07Z

The game mechanics are very simple and effective! I was reading the first line of instructions but then I thought "nah, let's see if I can understand the game without instructions". And I succeeded! Or better, you succeeded. Love the way that in the first levels there's no menace, so you can just move around and get used to the controls. Love the fact also that in the screenshots you put in the entry there is no mention about the bats, so it was quite a nice surprise (I was thinking the game was too easy before the bats arrived).

A nice entry indeed, I would have loved some more levels but it is perfect as it is for a Compo entry!

Well executed, mate! Makes me want more levels, keep up the good work!

Type Away - a fast paced text based endless runner... with zombies by matita 2018-04-24T07:38:51Z

Thank you very much for all your feedbacks!

@stevenjmiller you're very right, I had not more than 24 hours to work on it so I focused on the mechanics and didn't have a chance to properly test it and mostly balance it. I'm already thinking about how I could improve in that direction, your comment is valuable!

@Carraka the absence of visual indication on where the menace is coming from is intentional, I wanted it to be fully text based in order to force the player to read and understand. I did want to vary the texts a bit more to make it even more unpredictable, maybe in an after LD version ;)

Type Away - a fast paced text based endless runner... with zombies by matita 2018-04-26T07:09:11Z

@Decentsauce that's the bad thing about testing your own game alone... You're right, I definitely should have chosen another command to start the game

@Toulou do you question why a plumber should jump on turtles in Mario games? :D Jokes apart I thought the same while doing the last playtestings before publishing, but it was too late and I said "whatever, at least it is playable"

@Cerdcee glad you noticed that! I tried to go for the "learn as you play" instead of having a tutorial

Thank you all for your kind words!

Thank you guys for your feedback!

@Bros. the pic is pure truth XD

@Hisfantor I didn't have much time to put any asset in it, but while testing it I thought that some well made sound could improve the experience a lot! I think I'm planning a post-jam version with a more thought random generator, some graphic improvement/text animation, and definitely some sound ;)

Witch's Escape by cristiano.m.garcia 2018-05-04T12:18:30Z

Well done and I love your pixel art!

Maybe the only issue is that it starts very slowly but the difficulty at some point raises too fast with both the obstacles coming one after the other with multiple spells to cast.

Great concept!
