LD38 — A Small World

Starstruck Ducky by HuvaaKoodia 2017-04-29T05:02:05Z

This game is quite polished: the sound is good and the UI is very clear. I really like the individual touches you added to the ducks, as well as the various facial expressions, especially the crying one. I also thought the dialogue was very funny, though I encountered a lot of repetition.

As others have mentioned (and you've already pointed out), it's a very barebones game right now. It took me three tries to beat it, but I didn't really get a sense of accomplishment when I did because it felt like a glorified dice roll. However, I do like the idea of networking with people and attending events to move up a social ladder, and I think it could be a really innovative, fun game with some more mechanics. Maybe you don't know which ducks to talk to at first and have to figure it out based on social cues. Maybe you could even add networking so you have to talk with other real people! (I have no idea how that would work, but it's interesting to think about)

Again, I really enjoyed the humor and that the polish was great, so nice job! I can't wait to get an IoT toaster :o)

Pretty fun and polished game, would play a longer version!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

The Red Ribbon Killer by Avon 2017-12-05T12:27:05Z

Fun little point-and-click game. I really liked the graphics (3d graphics are hard!). Would have appreciated if there was a little bit more in terms of mechanics (e.g. a simple puzzle or something), just clicking on stuff got a bit boring. The story was good, but nothing too innovative - maybe it could also be made a bit more interesting.

Process Invasion by tuxmain 2017-12-05T12:13:44Z

Fun little platformer. I didn't understand exactly what to do to beat the game; every time I got to the final large sphere it told me I lost (even if I made an effort to delete the processes along the way).

I really liked the audio and the mood and the graphical effects for the most part, although a couple were a little too much (I think the flashing logos in the background were a little *too* twitchy). The physics felt good for the most part, but I wish there was a little bit more to the game/a bit more of a challenge.

Xmas Fair Drinking Simulator by Wakka2 2017-12-05T12:39:03Z

Really pretty game - I loved the art. I did have a bit of trouble figuring exactly what to do and which drinks were alcoholic. Once I did, the game was fun, although I feel like the controls never really did get that much worse when you were drunk (it seems like as you got more drunk friction decreased, but that doesn't really make your guy that much harder to control - would probably work better if you added some random movements or something). Like some other people pointed out, most of the time when I died it was because some other person walked into me.

LD42 — Running out of space

Roboss by Doc ill 2018-08-29T03:58:58Z

Nice classic boss fight! Really fits the "running out of space" theme. I think the gameplay could use some tweaks still -- getting hit by missiles almost feels good, because it pops you up in the air (which gives you more time to return to ground) but it was quite fun overall.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Shinigami's new assignment by Sun-Wukong 2019-05-08T05:02:07Z

Solid platformer. Really enjoyed the art style, and impressed with the amount of content you managed to pack in.

You mentioned this but yeah the game doesn't really use the theme in an interesting way which is a bit of a shame. Other criticisms:

- Level design: I feel like most of the levels are far too big. There are cool elements in the levels, but I feel like large parts of the levels aren't interestingly used and it basically becomes a chore to explore them looking for the souls. - Controls: I think the platformer controls could have been a bit more tight -- one example is it feels very weird that there's no aerial drag at all. I don't really mind the hitbox / ending lag of the attack move, it made it an interesting challenge, but I would have liked it better if the jumping felt tighter.

Use your heart by dick-claus 2019-05-11T20:34:36Z

Really nice use of the theme, wish it was explored a little bit more (there are definitely cool levels you can make even with only the mechanics you've currently implemented).

Register Revenge by Denzil Gomes 2019-05-08T04:23:46Z

This was a fun quick platformer, great job on your first LD submission! Would have liked to see the theme explored a little bit more (felt like I never really had to shoot coins and spend my life except for the 1-2 bad guys). Graphics could use a little bit more polish, but I really liked the audio.

I second what @ryusui wrote above about it being weird that there's a finite number of lives that aren't displayed anywhere (I died a couple of times in the water in the third level and was surprised when I had to start over from the first level).

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Descent into Midnight Trench by kfischer-okarin 2021-04-29T06:31:39Z

I managed to beat the game by just sitting a little bit off the left side of the screen and letting go of the controls (seems like basically everything spawns moving leftward so they conveniently move out of your way).

Liked the graphics / general ambiance of the game, and I liked the harpoon mechanic, but the game itself could benefit from a little bit more complexity I think.

Gloomby's Misadventure by don.shinski 2021-04-29T06:24:06Z

Interesting idea, but the controls / execution could use a lot of work, felt very clunky. (Like others I also had a hard time understanding what I needed to do until I carefully read the game entry).

Quick Scrap by Vimlark 2021-04-29T06:40:23Z

Pretty fun! Liked the movement, it's an interesting choice to give lots of flexibility over vertical movement (while giving less flexibility to horizontal movement). One nitpick; I felt like when I was going up I couldn't see much of what lied ahead, it would be nice if the camera adjusted more to which direction you were moving.
