Fun little point-and-click game. I really liked the graphics (3d graphics are hard!). Would have appreciated if there was a little bit more in terms of mechanics (e.g. a simple puzzle or something), just clicking on stuff got a bit boring. The story was good, but nothing too innovative - maybe it could also be made a bit more interesting.

I love the concept. I think adding a mouse cursor change when over something interesting would help. I got to the point where I was just clicking all over the room trying to figure out why things weren't advancing anymore.

meles 2017-12-05 12:43

I feel like this had a lot of potential, but I couldn't advance past the first screen with the detectives after clicking the phone, laptop and body... there Doesn't appear to be anything else I can do except be told I can't leave yet. Some kind of visual indicator of how to advance would be handy, I see from your screenshots there is further content, I just have no way of knowing how to reach it (I clicked every inch of the screen!) I'd like to play more, how does one continue?

avon 2017-12-05 12:46

@meles There are two specific places on the body you need to click, the head and the sleeve.

tinco 2017-12-05 12:46

The end was funny. I'm not sure if there were multiple endings, but fun change of pace this game.

mipelius 2017-12-05 13:04

The story and the graphics were excellent. Maybe the game itself was a little bit too straightforward - just needed to click all the stuff in the screen and then you could go to the next stage. However, the overall mood of the game was nice.

Thank you @Avon I sense a lot of social commentary going on there, much enjoyed. Feedback remains the same, perhaps highlighting objects you can interact with when you hover over them, and perhaps a way the player can choose who to arrest at the end? But yes, a really well pulled of narrative. Good job!

bificommander 2017-12-05 13:24

An amusing point and click game, although it doesn't have too much interaction. The part where you're given a choice of what to say to the news doesn't seem to affect a lot, so the theme feels a bit of a stretch.

Couldn't get past the scene with the dead guy. cool camera work though!

avon 2017-12-06 05:54

@jsqrs thanks for playing, you're not the only one who gotten stuck there, you can see my comment above on how to get past if you wanna try again.

pcmaster 2017-12-06 09:05

Haha, very nicely done. I was even curious who did it! I like the faces and the camera move-outs :) You could have used a spellchecker, though, for a game with a lot of text :P

carraka 2017-12-06 18:28

I see there may be some social commentary ... heh. I enjoyed the silly faces and the changing settings. It was difficult to get out of the first room. I was missing the ribbon, and I only clicked on it by accident when I was about to give up, so having interactable objects glow when mousing over would have been nice. It was disappointing that none of the other scenes had the same amount of interactable objects, but I still had fun!

Cool! I like the art style & the writing, although the story felt like it ended a bit abruptly. Would've liked some puzzles or more elaborate gameplay but I still enjoyed the experience. Nice work!

chartman 2017-12-08 04:49

I really like the graphics, camera work, and music. It was nice playing a game with a written story.

mariobarone 2017-12-08 06:08

cool idea, feel like the ending was a bit rushed, but great concept overall

fluffi 2017-12-08 10:36

Wished for some feedback list to check when you found clues. But maybe that makes it too easy. Liked the humor in it. :-)

ramza 2017-12-09 16:19

Great little point and click game. Really enjoyed the humorous writing and the concept. It felt complete, and I had no trouble progressing, as I see some others did. Overall, awesome job!

The best game I've played thus far. It is really ambitious to do a detective game in such a short time but you have pulled it off. I liked the conclusion. As others have said adding a changing cursor would make the pixel hunting a bit easier, but after the first room I didn't have any difficulty finding clues. The character models have a goofy charm to them. Well done!

goat-toaster-games 2017-12-14 07:11

I really liked the story! Though I agree with some above comments regarding the body in the first room needing to be a bit more obvious where to click and wishing there was a bit more interaction. Overall though, great submission!

Thanks to everyone for playing my game and leaving feedback!

Changing the cursor when over interactable objects was on my to do-list, but in the end when I knew the game wouldn't have any proper puzzles I decided not to implement it as I was worried it would make it too easy. It did worry me the body in the first room would be too hard though, I hoped people would notice the ribbon in the sleeve and then guess they could click other places on the body, but people might have thought the ribbon was just blood. What I probably should have done was make many more parts of the body interactable so the player understood they had to search the body thoroughly, or at least give more hints through dialogue.

I was hoping to have at least one puzzle near the end, but I decided not to add an inventory system to save time, and that made it difficult to do puzzles. I was planning to add more items in the last room(and other rooms) to make the killer reveal more gradual at least, but in the end I was barely able to finish the story in time. I liked the idea of you having to guess the killer in the end, that could have been fun.

I was hoping someone would catch the references to The Wire, the idea of a serial killer tying red ribbons to the victim and biting them was stolen directly from it. Of course the serial killer does not exist, one detective made it all up to get the funding to solve another case. It's a really good show, you should all go watch it!

@bificommander My main goal for implementing the theme was to give every character a line that referenced the theme, but I think in the end I only had 4 lines.

The choices when talking to the media doesn't affect much, but if you make the right choices(give a lot of details and ask audience for tips) you get an anonymous tip that opens an alternative at the end, though its a very slight difference. I wish I'd made it easier to get the tip though, so more people got to experience it.

carraka 2017-12-14 11:50

@avon

I can't believe I didn't notice the reference to The Wire ... so ashamed. I second Avon's recommendation. Everyone who knows English should watch that show. That's all of you reading this comment.
