I really liked the story! Though I agree with some above comments regarding the body in the first room needing to be a bit more obvious where to click and wishing there was a bit more interaction. Overall though, great submission!
Goodness me this was a surprisingly large game!! I'm very impressed. I loved the music and feel of it, I felt like I was in Oblivion. I felt the combat with the birds a bit awkward and the bucket knights a bit too hard, but otherwise I really really liked this!! Fantastic submission! :grin:
Nice work! I really love the implementation of the theme, it was really fun trying to dodge the monsters while getting coins! And a really impressive amount of dialogue. I would've liked a bit more time put into the graphics, but I think the gameplay being well thought out was worth the time and effort :)
Hey this was fun!! I really enjoy these kinds of games. The only thing is I wish in the Cloudy Day and Tropical Vibe levels, the buttons changed up a little bit more. I got a bit sick of just pressing the same two buttons in the same beat for 80% of the song. Otherwise though, fantastic submission!!

I actually really enjoyed this! I loved the humor and exploration. I'm unsure what happened though, I built the fire and a message briefly popped up but then the screen went black and back to the menu without having a chance to read the text. I think perhaps I died but didn't realize it because I didn't have time to read the message haha. I'm also not 100% sure how it ties in with the theme, but otherwise the graphics, music, humor and fun of this game made me really enjoy it!! Great submission! :grin:

Great concept, though I agree with some comments above that the gameplay itself doesn't feel terribly good. I agree with TheMonsterFromTheDeep in that some healing items would've been great as I also couldn't survive long enough to buy anything. Honestly though it's otherwise a really fantastic game!

I had the same issue as Philippe and FuriousWitch, but what I saw of it didn't look bad! Very nice animations at least and not a bad concept :)
Overall I really quite liked it despite your warnings of it being unpolished and imbalanced. Nice little city sim, I had fun trying to find the balance and keep my approval rating from dropping! And neat little graphics too. Great submission!

Wow, so many levels! A really impressive amount of levels. It was so satisfying using the claws. I really loved the character!!
I feel like the background graphics are a bit lacking, but with how many levels and upgrades there are I think that's understandable with the time frame, you clearly worked hard!!
Though it may have looked a bit cleaner if the clouds were removed and the cave backdrops were a solid colour/ just had some small rocks, I feel like the large shapes are slightly offputting/distracting? Just my 2 cents from an artists perspective :)

Not bad! I liked the look of the game and the overall concept, though it was a tad too hard and the laser SFX could be a bit quieter and have more variation as it got a bit annoying after a few minutes. But overall a good submission :grin:
Haha this was great! I didn't realise at first that you could throw the boxes, and when I came to comment to suggest that function I noticed the controls mentioned throwing so I gave it another go and I had a much better time! I think it would've been a bit stronger game if it started off with a very easy level and then escalated.
Overall this was a fantastic submission! I loved the graphics and music and it was a really fun challenge. I did not manage my stress levels well at all :joy: Great job!

This was so addictive!! Haha. This is a very well put together game, I found it so much fun. I think a couple of my cats were a bit *too* into each other...:wink: (a bug where one of my love boxes was permanently in use) and I sometimes had a bit of trouble clicking on a cat when it had a heart but other than that, such a fantastic submission!
Fun fact: While playing this game my real life cat decided to cough up a hairball and while I was cleaning it up almost all of my cats in the game died :joy:

Yeah @grentacular as most game jams probably go, I had planned to have the base coding finished on day 1 so I could have day 2 and 3 set aside for art and polish. I spent all of day 1 and 2 doing code/ figuring out problems, then pulled an all nighter between day 2 and 3 doing more coding and arting. Most of the game story was thrown together in the last 2 hours before submission haha. I would have LOVED more time to sort out the plot and the game mechanic with the monsters/magic instead of just making you invincible against them. I had it all written down damnit! I think I'll definitely make a "Final Version" later on and really flesh it out.

I completely agree on the issue with the theme, I had intended to make the monsters at the end more of a challenge and the player having a struggle between keeping the numbers of monsters down while also not being killed by the flowers, but in the end I just couldn't get the balance right time so I just made it easy enough to get through the game.
I look forward to fleshing it out in the future and finding that balance :D

Ah yes I've noticed some people having lag issues on PCs that are lower end. I'm super new to this, do you have any recommendations on how to improve that? Just try to avoid particle effects where possible?

I don't seem to get that on my PC so I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about. - Ah yes unfortunately I did intend to have another level with spikes, water and monsters etc but ran out of time. I definitely intend to do more with this in the future version of the game. - I'll see about making the particles look more effective on the overall character! - Saint11 is incredible, I have looked at his tutorial I'm just unfortunately new to animating and still understanding it haha. Thanks so much though I will definitely practice and try to improve on my run animations!!

I have reworked a number of things. The final level is a fair bit different now, I've tried to make it more of a challenge and more necessary to keep topping up your magic/arcanum to keep the numbers of the monsters down.
I have also tried to lower the particle amount, so if you're on a low level PC please let me know if you still experience lag.
I also tried to make the UI a bit easier to see and understand.

Oh yes it would've been great to implement being more powerful with more magic, but I ran out of time so the overall idea is just that there's a time limit on the magic so it lasts longer the more you have, but if you get too much you die. So I guess the difference is just not having to constantly top up on magic as much if you gather a whole bunch.
I really loved the cell phone idea, especially with the music app!
I agree that the game could be a bit slower at first. The dogs die a little bit too fast to begin with, might be better if they took a bit longer to die and then as the game progresses they die faster to increase difficulty.

The visuals on this are fantastic!! The jump felt satisfying, but I had a bit of trouble controlling him a bit. I fell off an edge when I felt like I shouldn't have and sometimes felt like I didn't jump off an edge when I should've. The only thing I wish is that you could move left and right with the arrow keys or AWSD, just because it was hard for me not to accidentally click out of the game. I do wish there was a bit of a tutorial or at least the controls listed on the screen, I had a tough time at first figuring out what to do. I also got a bug at one point where I went off the screen in the bottom right corner and couldn't find my way back.

This was so flippin weird, I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately it randomly crashed for me at some point. The dog came back for a second time and the lights were dark, he was in the middle of telling me he needed all my cash when it just froze and shut down. Unsure if that's on my end or something in the game, but worth mentioning.
The only thing I'd say is the text boxes were a bit hard to follow sometimes, I missed a fair bit of dialogue from not realizing I couldn't see the textbox because I wasn't looking at it. Something to ensure the player can always see the dialogue would be great.
Otherwise, boy I loved this. Great submission!

I think this game had a lot of potential. The exploration and mood was quite relaxing, but the turn based part seemed pointless and just kind of annoying.
I think it might've been cool if there was another spaceship that you were actually racing against, and each turn you had to choose whether to get a boost or turn left/right. Or maybe a turn-based exploration game where each "turn" you're given the option of exploring this planet or that one, communicate with that ship, talk to those aliens, shoot an enemy ship etc.
Great work though on finishing a whole game in such a short time :grin:

I saw this game in the RandomiseUser video, and I have to say it is absolutely one of my favourites from the entire jam. I think your game from LD40 was also in my top faves, you're certainly a fantastic team of gamedevs!
I've seen a few snooker-style games this jam but this one really mixed the roguelike/rpg gameplay into it super well, which really matched the theme. I thought it was interesting that "disenchanting" items restored health, though sometimes I wished there were perhaps health packs or something laying around that you could try and aim for, during the times where I didn't get any item drops because I had low hp and kept not managing to kill the enemies. It felt a little frustrating having low hp and knowing that any attempt I made at continuing the game without dying was impossible, because I would die the next time I hit an enemy. So it was just kind of pointless suicide then. Unless I missed something here and there were in fact other ways of regaining health?
The artwork, music and SFX were all brilliant and polished.
The shot charging felt very smooth and the outcome of the shot felt accurate to the amount charged, which is something I have struggled with in some of the other snooker-like games (where the charge was too powerful so it was difficult to do a small shot) so the game mechanic there seemed very well done!
All in all this is a really brilliant idea that I think could definitely be made into a fleshed out game for full release. Nice work!!
This was really great! The dogs were so cute and it was incredibly funny blasting them with water haha.
I did have some frustration with picking up the ball and throwing it. I feel like it may have been more enjoyable to have 3 guns, one that shoots the ball alongside the water and treat gun.
I also got a couple bugs. In-game when I pressed ESC, I got two buttons for resume or exit, but neither of them did anything when clicked. The dogs would also get a bit stuck sometimes and jitter around on the spot or get stuck in the fence.
Overall though, this was so much fun and a great submission!

I have now tried to fix the parallax problem with the grass and I have now also fixed the jump height since quite a few people have mentioned it being a problem, hopefully it's better now! I probably just got too used to it while playtesting.
Haha yes it is very harsh, though that was somewhat my intention (and also just made it easier to code in the short time frame), however I definitely wouldn't do this in a proper game so I appreciate the feedback here, that is a very neat idea with the gaining speed when hitting crates!

Theme-wise, it was supposed to be a farming simulator crossed with a platform runner. Farming sims are usually slow and relaxing (I've been really digging Stardew Valley recently) and I thought it would be funny if the farmer had to rush around doing all the crops and collecting stuff super fast, in a game-style that farming sims aren't typically done in (platform runner). I feel I did not quite get the "farming sim" part down properly, but I'm sure I'll do better with future themes!

@Avon Ah yes, I thought holding down the jump button might make people feel that they have more control, but it seems that simply tapping it and a consistent height might be better for runners. Neat submission and interesting idea! I wish that everything was either 2D or 3D and not a mix, as the wonderful alien made the 2D graphics look very simple in comparison. But overall, nice work :slight_smile:

This was a very nicely polished game! The mood, visuals and music were great. The jumps went very well in time with the music. I got a strange glitch at some point after failing too many times where the music stopped, which was odd. I am unsure what could have caused this.
I personally got very stuck at the point where you have to start doing both the jump and up/down together, but I think that was just me not being very good at music beat games as opposed to the game being too hard. Though it did feel for me like it went from quite easy/doable to suddenly a bit hard/more complicated. At first I didn't understand that I needed to jump onto the blue block and then press down/up.
Overall though I think this is very brilliantly done and I'd love to play a more fleshed out version!

This was a super interesting idea and take on the theme! I really loved the graphics in particular. I had a difficult time jumping on the beat, the heartbeat icon almost seemed a little out of time with the music or something? Was a bit tricky but overall very fun and great submission!

This was really brilliant. Graphically stunning, very much reminded me of Hyper Light Drifter. Lovely music and SFX. I wish there was a dash or something to help move out of the way of some enemies, but other than this it was also very fun to play as well. Great submission!

This was a really neat take on tetris! I especially loved once I got past the first level and you had two things falling, that was great. I also really love how much personality you put into the jumps of the little box. Great submission!
This was a really cute game! A really interesting take on the theme and well done. I love the music and the little keyboard character Tap, the facial expressions were adorable. The only thing is I really wish there were shortcuts for the words as my hands got pretty tired after a bit.

I got some kind of glitch where I tried to click on the menu button, which was a bit off screen to the left, and it opened but then disappeared and suddenly all the SFX/music switched off.
Other than that little mishap though, this got very addictive! I really enjoyed it! Only problem is I ran out of enemies to shoot! :)

Really great concept, but I struggled a bit with getting the jumps right. It might have helped if the gaps were smaller or he jumped further. But other than that, neat little submission! Well done!

This was such a sweet little game!
I struggled a bit to completely understand how to farm, but I had a lot of fun trying! I wasn't entirely sure what the items did or how to use them, and no matter how much money I had I could never seem to use up or buy water? So I just ended up playing it for pinballs sake. Perhaps a brief explanation on how to water, plant and grow the plants and what the items/shpo menu do would be helpful :smiley:

Hmm I really want to give this a go, but for some reason I can't seem to get past the menu where it asks me for language. I can't seem to press any button on my keyboard that accepts and my xbox 360 controller doesn't appear to do anything either. Only the up and down arrows work, switching between the languages. Any idea what might be causing this?
This was such a great take on the theme, I'd considered a fighting/dating sim as well but I'm no good at fighters haha. I liked the dialogue with the girls and I liked the story between levels about him breaking up with the girl and returning to the park haha! It made me laugh. Nice submission! :smile:

This was a really great concept! I had tried to think too about how I could make a driving platformer with jumps but I didn't want to draw the cars haha. I feel like this has a lot of potential.
Your intro/outro and trailer are *incredible*, I mean just full on polished finished professional game level of quality. Like seriously I might have to hire you in the future to make some for me :joy:
However I feel like the time you put into making all of that flashy meant that perhaps less time was spent working on the mechanics of the game.
I feel like the gravity was way too "floaty", I think the cars needed to be heavier and have more of an impact when landing and more of a takeoff when jumping. I also think if the cars pointed downwards when going down and upwards when going up would've helped it feel much more "real" as well.
I also think that the incredibly detailed and polished intro made the game itself look graphically very very simple. I think even some clouds in the distance instead of just all one solid colour of blue, and perhaps a light texture on the roads would've really bumped up the graphics! Definitely think that the graphics being set to "ultra" should be a default also as mentioned in Elysias stream.
This was overall though a great submission and take on the theme. I think with some tweaking to the gravity/movement and graphics this could be a really really fantastic and fun game! I hope this feedback helps and I hope you continue to make awesome games :grin:

This was a great submission! It was really fun, I LOVED the tutorial room at the menu. I also loved being able to buy hearts for 1 coin.
I would have enjoyed this much more if the controls were a bit tighter, though. The slow attack felt very frustrating and like I couldn't defend myself properly. I also feel like a bit less friction is needed when walking, the character felt like they were slipping on ice a bit.
If those two things were improved I could absolutely see myself playing this for ages! The game itself was a great concept and really fun overall. Nice submission!!
