Run Fonster, Run! by Larzan 2015-09-02T01:01:00
Nice job, very difficult, if the guards turned around slower it might have been easier to avoid them.

Nice job, very difficult, if the guards turned around slower it might have been easier to avoid them.
The most fun I've had with an entry so far, the shooting was satisfying.
Very cool, like Lemmings meets Canabalt. I liked the portal mechanic, definitely has promise.
Great audio design. I thought the game was unfair until I put headphones on and turned the sound up. It would be nice if you could move diagonally, it was a bit jarring to stop moving when holding two arrow keys at once.
Impressive accomplishment! I love typing games wish it was longer.
First person platforming? You monster! ;-)
Great! It would be even better with keyboard support. I found clicking the buttons slow with a mouse.
Great artwork and mood, nice job.
Amazing. Just needs music, other than that perfect and accomplished everything you intended.
So it will be decided by popular vote? So that 51% choosing the selfish action for Leon will create a personal shield for him?
So polished for 72 hours, amazing work. Probably among the best I've tried so far!
Really well done, wish there were a couple checkpoints though.
Awesome, really fun, which is what making games is all about.
I can't believe you accomplished this in 48 hours, beautiful, complete story, great mood. Amazing!
My favorite product of the jam even though it made me feel terrible. I'm so glad I have two sons...
My favorite product of the jam even though it made me feel terrible. I'm so glad I have two sons...
Thinking on this more: the player, representing society, is the monster. We expect teenage girls to adhere to a standard that we don't expect of boys. We might use every product and make the girl 'perfect' but we've failed at the important task: making her happy as she is.
Pretty cool, the repetition really served to put me in the frame of mind of someone going in and out of consciousness. I had trouble finding the correct dialog choices which made the game drag on in parts, kept me interested to the conclusion though.
Wow, I can't believe you pulled this off in 72 hours! I love Blood Bowl so this was a treat.
I love the story, and the frequent checkpoints, the mechanics are great as well.
There is a moment delay between pressing the spacebar and jumping that make avoiding the shooting blade very difficult (impossible?). Let me know if I'm missing something.
I loved the style of the models and the gameplay was solid. The tank-like controls of the player and limited field of view was sometimes frustrating but overall, in the timeframe, impressive!
Superb. Beautiful pixel art, great music, wonderful story.
Great job! I really liked your take on the snake game getting larger and larger.
The game is gorgeous, please finish it, I'd like to see what comes of it.
Amazing.
Web version worked great for me (MacOSX, Firefox). I love the pixel art (especially the mad farmer) and the music choices were fun.
Solid entry, it's like the Zelda 2 overworld map as the main game.
The mood was spot on, the music really helped.
I had lots of fun with this. Reminded me of being a botanist in SS13!
My only niggle was having to click the skull to see what was available in each location, other than that, great work!
Impressive accomplishment in such a short period of time.
Hey, amazing graphics and sound. I had a lot of control issues and the kill meter wasn't going up, tons of potential here though!
I et babies.
This game is, without question, the very best game I have ever played about a zombie Jesus juggling dead rats.
Fabulous!
Needs sound! But great start, nice 3d models.
Super cute, the graphics were great. My best score was 9.
Art and animations are excellent, love the concept.
Hey, I need spoilers. I got a battery and hooked it up to a fan and also a broom and something that looks like a mask or a coil of water.
Excellent, very well done. Fast attack + speed is a great combo.
The papercraft art is ace! I couldn't get the two middle bars, scared and anger, to move up at all, not sure if that is as intended.
I love those eyebrows...
Great start!
Perfect. The graphics, audio, and mood were amazing. Is it possible to protect the baby mammoths?
The 'A' button isn't working on my Macbook Pro with Windows 8.1, not sure if it is my issue or the games. Hard to play when I can't move left but I love the idea, graphics, and it has an awesome title screen!
Blurry for me as well, MacOSX and Firefox.
I love the tutorial via 'clippy'!
That was hard! I set a personal goal of 1000 points and made it to 1427 before crashing.
Great, really funny. Amazing job!
I got to 46 points and was wrapped a few times around the tower, what does it look like at a ridiculously high score?
Great job! We had fun with this. I love the double-jump. We didn't manage to escape in our couple tries though.
We liked this game a lot. Is it winnable? I tried leaving it up for a couple hours after building a yellow factory but the demand went down to %0.006 and it looked like we'd never get the 1.2 million we'd need to build the golden factory...
Oh man, I would be all over this game if it had a control scheme like Space War / Asteroids / Maelstrom. Connecting the movement and fire direction to the mouse is just so awkward. I love the mechanic and theme and high score board. I'm going to play it again right now even though I hate the controls, that's how much I like everything else!
Beautiful.
I kicked a plane.
Great job team! I found it compulsive, fun, humorous, compulsive, and very well done.
Super hard! I loved it though. I played it many, many, times even though it is annoying to push 'F2' on a MacBook...
I was wondering if the unresponsiveness was due to the javascript based emulator I used. It seems like a couple other people reported the same thing. Maybe this wouldn't be an issue if I could load it into a real C64. Anyone try that? ;-)
I had trouble getting the rocket launcher to fire, is there additional delay beyond the longer reloading time? Nice job!
It's "We're going to need a bigger boat" the game.
Excellent game. I got down to the red level before being killed by a Zapper. I'm guessing you need to descend as far as you dare and then come back out of the dungeon to bet healed? Kind of a push-your-luck mechanic? I've never had the patience to map games like this myself, I just used the 'hug the left wall' strategy which usually brought me to the next staircase sooner rather than later.
Beautiful artwork and wonderful use of parallax. It was tough to keep the enemies from taking over at the end because they were all spawning into the same pit. We were able to win finally by jumping into the pit and taking them out as they spawned. If we could have shot down we could have dealt with the enemies running back and forth below us.
This is really, very good, and worth some more time, it would be even better with sound effects and some more animations.
Good job, I never really felt like I needed to weed as I could just keep one row or two clear and keep myself busy planting, watering, and harvesting. Got a few hundred dollarinos and called it a day. Nice, relaxing, game!
Hats hat hat hats hat hat duck hat. Hat hat hat hat, hat hat, hat hat cat hat hat. Hat hat hat hat hats; hat hat hat hats.
In conclusion, hats.
I love the artwork and sound design, the enemies that hide as soul orbs are particularly devious. It's a hard game, any tips?
The gameplay is very polished, I found it fun and challenging. The best end game strategy seems to be throwing yourself into the lava after grabbing as many presents as you can as red presents exploding over the lava can quickly eliminate all your progress.
Really well done. I fried 62 eggs. I was running into an issue with the web version where I was moving the mouse pointer all the way off the side of the viewport and temporarily losing control of the frying pan, this wouldn't be an issue full-screen though so I'm not docking you any points for it. Super polished and the theme is original.
I got 90 / 40, did I win?
cray cray so totes tha woweeee!!!!! o.m.g.
Cool, the art style reminds me of Papers Please, couldn't figure out the game system after giving it a couple tries. I think the in-game Instructions are important.
We won and only got a little bit frustrated close to the end. Very original idea and well executed. Just the right length for a game jam entry, thanks!
You nailed it. I love the way the game teaches you the mechanics in-game and the names of the levels give you clues about how to approach the challenge. You took a lot of lessons from Portal (the good ones). Very polished. The last level was a challenge, but I beat it!
I loved it! The ability to grab kittens out of mid-air is great.
We got down to 16 coins... Beautiful pixel art!
I agree, there needs to be more interactivity. I have the game running in the background as I write this (waiting for my captain to sell the last 2 goods). The attention to detail is great though. The fish and weather effects and music is nice and calming.
Only 780 here... Nice job.
Yeah, I agree. I'd play the heck out of this game if it were finished and bug-free. Doesn't even need fancy graphics and sounds...
Nicely done for your first Jam entry, congrats, keep it up!
I tried both the web build and the Windows build and couldn't make the firing work while moving. I had to sit still when firing and even then it was intermittent. It's really a shame because I loved the graphics and sound. The enemies that float over to you and sit right on top of you seem difficult, maybe they'd be easier if I could have moved backward and fired at the same time.
What a gem! At first I was skeptical ("why can't I just aim in one place and fire again and again") but the waves + rocking of the boat + sinking makes it a challenge the whole way through. I really appreciate that you created an AI that is challenging while being beatable. This game would also be great as a two player, single-keyboard, game (and easy to implement I'd imagine). Graphics and sound are great as well!
I just played again and noticed how the cannonballs knock shields off the side of the ship and also how you can make the ship tip over and sink. Amazing attention to detail.
Edit: My only criticism is the AI may be a bit easy(?). Make this a two-player game and/or add difficulty levels.
Wow! I am super impressed that you were able to complete multiple levels with distinct enemy types and music. The pixel art is amazing and the game could come straight out of the NES era. I'm thinking a cross between Kid Icarus, Metroid, and Super Mario Bros. Amazing!
I liked it. Is the music just one loop or does it change over time? It would be nice if the music were a bit more varied.
Wow, for a first entry to Ludum Dare I'm impressed. And native Java? I'm super impressed.
I'm a big fan of typing games like the Typing of the Dead so this is a perfect game for me. I'm at about 70WPM and this was too easy for me, even at the top difficulty. I didn't have the patience to get beyond Wave 10. Having a single keystroke hurt multiple enemies regardless of character order makes it way easier. Typing games like this usually require you to 'target' an enemy by typing the first letter and then type the word (or random characters) in order.
I had fun though, just wish it was a bit more challenging for me, I didn't even buy any upgrades! :-)
OK, I did as I was told...
Reminds me of Populous, I wasn't really sure how Blessing or Cursing would help or hurt me, maybe some more feedback about how my actions changed the villages would help.
Yep, sorry all, it's been in 'Draft' mode all night. I just published it so you should be able to try it out.
I'm going to bed soon but will be playing other games tomorrow night and will have a copy open in case anyone wants to give it a try in multi-player mode.
@schmavery Yeah, you played against me and then @toast-toaster joined while we were in the middle of our game and saw all our pieces on the cards. I've since fixed that issue, now each game gets its own copy of cards (instead of sharing them).
I didn't put enough time into the UI or the game to make it easy to understand, it really needs animations to show where resources are going and better in-game instructions for the cards.
@evogengames Thank you very much for the constructive criticism, that's more than fair; honestly, I only had about 8 - 10 hours to put into the game over the weekend and put a few more into it since the jam ended. The UI needs a lot of work in order to be playable by someone who doesn't know the game well (e.g. me).
The junkyard starts out giving 0 resources but randomly gets 0-2 of each type at the end of each round.
@scottgoldsmith The 'win state' is large text over the winning player saying: 'Player 1/2 won!' Needless to say, I had visions of actually animating the launching rocket but ran out of time. If you put a worker in the 'Launch rocket' space and don't win it should destroy your rocket and a worker and the game will continue. I /think/ that works...
I fixed some reported bugs including: - You now will no longer partially pay for (and fail to buy) components if you don't have all the resources' - The game now ends properly (no more moves will be recorded) - Choosing 'First player' when you are already first player will merely block the space and not toggle your first player status - The hire worker space will only hire 1 worker and will not fill all available empty offices - You will always have at least 1 worker, even if you can't pay them, there will no longer be an end-game state where you can no longer play - The junkyard starts with a random allocation of resources
I also added a game log and a player status message to the UI to make the game a bit easier to follow.
@mrspeaker Yes, that's fair. If you haven't played Agricola or other worker placement games before it would be impossible to grok without a tutorial (even with prior knowledge it's tough).
@pellanor In Chrome, right-click the tab and select 'Mute Site'.
Thank you both for taking the time to try it out!
This is amazing, so good. Cook serve delicious meets surgeon simulator meets magicka. I wish I were better at it. I'll probably come back and play more later...
Yellow is the color of 'Thanks' right? I got a 'bad color' message trying that. Any updates to this game?
Ahh, I see, I was reading black as yellow but there's actually orange and yellow. I think I got it.
Someone's been playing a bunch of One Hour One Life....
Nice job, I escaped!
2:12 was my best score so far. Fun and well executed!
Hmm, stuck after cutting down the tree, not sure what to do. (I'm terrible at puzzle games like this.) Very well done and super polished!
I'm impressed, this is quite the achievement for 72 hours! The modular ship building system is amazing.
I really wanted to try this game but it crashes on launch (Macbook Pro 2013 running Windows 10 via bootcamp). Looks interesting!
Well done, reminds me of the old-school game Lemmings. Some levels were pretty easy, just go back and forth on each level in turn. The harder levels had water coming down from the top middle which split the ship in two.
The movement + mouse aiming feels great, really smooth. I didn't care for the lightning bolt because it stopped my character for too long. I also found the bombs hard to use because I was throwing them out of sight. I was able to cheese some of the later bosses by trapping them on terrain features and hitting them with bombs though. Altogether a great entry and very well done!
I found it difficult to tell where the paths were and where exactly I was placing the towers, also, having to go into another menu to buy towers took my attention away from the game where the action was happening.
The graphics and sound were top-notch and I found the mini-games to be an interesting take on RPG combat. Would love to see a RPG with mini-game mechanics like that taken to the next level. My only complaint was the camera being sluggish and zoomed in made it difficult to avoid combats.
Well done! I wish I had a sideboard to put the pieces on for better arranging but I'm guessing the difficulty was by design. Reminds me of one of those sliding block puzzles I hate... :-)
What's the trick for getting past the 'Alternate path' level?
Oh, NM, I got it!
Well done, would like to see an end game added as well...
Excellent. I 'won' and I'm not usually all that good at adventure games. Love the symmetry between the game win and lose states.
I'm not great at platformers but got stuck on level 2 at a point where it looked like I had to drop down and then dash left. I couldn't make the drop work, maybe making the platform above a bit smaller would allow the player to drop and dash left.
Great job team! The frequent save points were awesome, it allowed me to fail often without losing the 'flow'.
Screen Shot 2018-12-04 at 12.23.26 AM.png
Great first entry into the jam! I wasn't really sure what to do after I had 100/100 buildings on every score and my population hit 10,000. Reminds me of one of those cookie clicker games.
I survived 11 days. The numbers seemed to vary wildly, I'd have 80+ food one day and it'd be gone the next. I ended up using the remaining survivors to bury the dead, only seemed right.
Creative and innovative, well done.
Fired my mom out of a cannon, 10/10, would pull the trigger again...
Seriously though, absolutely fantastic! Everything from the music, the sound, the graphics, to the dialog was right on point. I'm impressed. The way you handle the dialog, where it starts when you look at a townsperson and continues where you left off, that's amazing. You nailed the theme too.
Congratulations! Much deserved, best game overall of those I tried.
Drop kick OP. Seriously, I really liked this game. The art style and level design reminds me of early Gunpoint prototypes. Is there an end beyond the starry sky area? I just got mobbed by cops and died. The protagonist with his borrowed limbs is super creepy and interesting.
Bouncy gma is OP.
Couldn't quite figure it out. I ended up holding 'w' until it finally told me I didn't have anything left to sacrifice.
I like the character model, reminds me of the original Alone in the Dark.
I was having some trouble where the left mouse button wouldn't always throw the baby. Great job.
I am amazed that you were able to create all of that art in 72 hours, that is impressive. Very good, like the Skyrim alchemy system as a stand-alone game. I like the reputation system and that you need to sell some "snake oil" the first week in order to pay the tax collector.
I loved that you could infect the people (and pigs) manning the turrets to disable them. The hand-drawn art is perfect. Well done!
@ondrasej Ahh, yes, tapping a button on the controller is necessary to enable it. That should be automated. I added the gamepad support in the last hour before submission and was unable to test on my Xbox controller (not supported in MacOSX). It really should support analog sticks fully. A restart button is badly needed but you need to hit reload at this time. Thanks for playing and for your feedback!
I added a "press R to reload" feature due to popular demand. Please feel free to rate the game as if it didn't have this feature (it literally just refreshes the browser window but helps when playing in full screen).
@chillwind You are too kind! That high score might stick for a while, I haven't made it much past my previous high score.
@shadoninja I'm sorry to hear you were unable to play, it might have just been loading the music? I should probably implement a loading bar while the assets load. If you get a chance, right-click and Inspect the page and let me know if you have any console errors.
@andrzej-gieralt Yes, the default resolution is 240 x 400 pixels. I recommend hitting the full screen button to make it playable. Better feedback for the bomb would definitely be helpful. We were considering a minimap or something early on but it was dropped due to time. Thank you for playing and for your feedback!
@joemid Huh, I'm not sure what the loss of focus could be due to. I think it's a fairly standard HTML5 game in an itch.io frame. Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback, it definitely needs more of a "game" than just being a score chaser. We'll put some more time into it post-jam.
Perfectly executed puzzle game with wonderful painterly graphics. The details are great, like how the tiles slowly shift up and down.
Hmm, getting Error fetching "https://v6p9d9t4.ssl.hwcdn.net/html/2145493/Take%20Care%20Of%20Health%20Care/"
Well done, very satisfying to get multiple zombies with one shot.
Nice lighting effects, the idea of being the ammo in a tower defense game is very interesting.
I heard about the game from @terrycavanagh. Not only a fantastic idea, also very well executed.
The sound and music are perfect, the graphics look like they could have come directly out of a Metroid-era NES. The concept is very interesting although controlling multiple vines seemed too difficult to be worth it.
Definitely needs a controller with an analog stick. I tried with arrow keys at first and it wasn't the same. There's something strange going on when running into the wind or up a hill that causes you to put your shield down even if you're pressing forward. I'd like to see a video of the developers beating all the levels, I got to one that I figured was unbeatable. (Waterfall near the start and a big upside down loop that puts you at the base of a jump). The character design is great and the game at its best puts you into a flow state. Some control awkwardness is preventing this from living up to its full potential. @deylinia you can press the start button on a controller to restart the level at any time.
@landberglife OK! I missed that you can jump and stick to the ceiling. The trailer is great and reminds me how much I liked the music.
We like the music a lot, great job building something with NPC and enemy AI plus multiple abilities, quite a feat! Great job.
Made it 38 days. The dice definitely turn against you after about 20 - 30 days... Well done!
The graphics are great, the audio fits really well, that darn fox is really annoying. Great job!
Oh, my... that music. I feel like I was trolled for 7 minutes. Hilarious, frustrating, well done.
Wizards are jerks! Always popping out of bushes and trying to ruin your fun. I ended the game hugging a bear, did I win?
Amazing, everything is so professional, great job team!
I love the hand-drawn art and the music is great and contributes greatly to the mood. I switched over to the hack wave and never looked back, being able to 1-hit ko the enemies and then use them to fill up energy was very powerful. Restoring lights and disabling sentries was an interesting mechanic but it didn't feel like the level design took full advantage of it. Thanks for the game!
I'm not sure who we were protecting and how they eventually died but had a great time while I was playing. Beautiful pixel graphics, great music, interesting gameplay, great job!
After I figured out the board control was related to the last layer who controlled the square rather than which card was there presently I was able to win a couple games. Interesting strategic game, great solo entry!
Fantastic hand drawn art and the music and audio fits perfectly. I had fun building my engine. I think I'll go back and try some different pieces.
I loved that each room had different types of party guests and associated music. Great job!
Fantastic pixel art, great atmosphere, and intelligent puzzles. I'm going to come back to it when I have more time to work out the later levels. Great job!
Fantastic job! I'm glad you didn't implement the bat enemies, I'm sure they would have been a pain.
Fantastic presentation, fun, and actually quite funny. It's perfect how the hats fall off and bottles get broken.
The presentation is perfect, I love the idea of the electronic guide you have to refer to during the flight. The sound and music was fantastic. Pretty much everything was spot on. I beat the mission on my first try and then went back into it a 2nd time thinking there might be a 2nd mission.
I played a solo game and will try to get a 2-3 player game together with my family later. I ended up saving the father and grandfather but losing the mother and child. I also won my secret objective handily: I was supposed to get 20 research points on one station and ended up being able to put two spare cards on a station last turn and got 27. It seems like Education will end up putting a card in the trash, delayed by one turn, with the benefit of a better roll next round. A roll of a 3 doesn't actually clean up the trash, only keeps the number the same. So the trash number only goes up, correct? I love that you've brought a physical game to a digital space, well done!
@alferbayter Ahh, that makes sense and also makes the game easier. I was putting played cards (that didn't go to the research station) in the trash. Discarding them makes sense. Thanks!
A perfect entry in length, difficulty, and execution. I'm really impressed you were able to produce something so polished in 72 hours. I think this would be very playable on a mobile device, in some ways easier if you could tap the screen in multiple places at once.
The art is fantastic, that cover image is superb! Keep working on it, I think this idea has promise.
This was fantastic, I think I only made it to level 3 a couple times. I think there is an internal size number that isn't always displayed visually. Sometimes when I hit a creature my color I eat them and sometimes they eat me.
My son, Henri, says "This is really fun!"
I got 34 reputation before dying. I regret accepting all those 0 and 1 rep friendships early on.
I really like this as a social commentary on the nature of friendships today. The protagonist slowly transforming from someone who walks around and meets people face-to-face to someone who sits in the corner on their phone all the time.
I'd probably run over fewer cats if I got off my phone when driving...
Great job, maybe a bit easy for a survival game. The controls work really well, I didn't find it hard at all to hunt and aim at the deer despite a lack of reticle. Meat is harder to come by than wood which is plentiful. Hunting is satisfying and the tracks left in the snow really add to the experience.
Great sound effects and graphics, I felt very bad that I couldn't save my baby.
Took us way, way, way, too long to beat this game. Finally got both the magic detector and the witches fire event to get 2 / 3 magic items. The art is great and the game is very well written. Good job!
Fantastic entry, excellent use of introducing new mechanics throughout.
I love the pixel graphics and think the theme is interesting. For this to be a tower defense game, my suggestion would be for there to be various paths that the enemies will come in on where you can place the traps. I found the traps to be more trouble than they were worth. If I knew where the enemies were going to be traveling I might have been able to place the traps more effectively. This is a great start for something, with some sound and a bit more work on the gameplay I think it will be great.
Reminded me of Rampage. I bet this would work well as a mobile game with the controls being tap and drag. I wanted to shoot down the boats and copters too!
Nice pathfinding! I'm thinking it would have played better as a twin-stick style shooter. I love the pixel art and the music is catchy!
This is fantastic, I've spent the most time with this game out of any of the entries. I still haven't beat it, the placement of the ladders and blocks is a bit finicky and the controls could use a bit of tweaking. Still, the graphics are perfect, the sound (the minions chopping or chipping away at the rocks, the music) is amazing. All around phenomenal job!
hilarious
Played the game, in the game, at an arcade, perfect.
I love hacker games. This was a good start to a game, seemed a bit short, I liked how you hid the passwords.
Spoilers follow:
>! Hmm, after logging into root and typing `poison` is there any more to the game? I couldn't find anything.
Great job, the comparison to the Stanley Parable is spot on.
The music is fantastic, could be straight out of a NES game from the 80s.
I love the art-style! I found the upgrade menu a bit confusing but was able to unlock the super laser which was fun. The boss got stuck against a stack of minions who were trapped on a platform so I found the end a bit easy.
Excellent visuals, I especially like the two layers of buildings and sun rays shining down. I felt bad every time someone in town died. Is there any way to win the game? I ended up with 0 patients, 32 population, and 46 deaths, not that great...
Baby dragon with egg is super cute, the music fits the aesthetic well. Very nice!
Beautiful artwork in this game, I like the idea of using the faerie but not using it too much.
Yeah, I agree with @fire-phantom7 a white crosshair would have made the game much easier. I couldn't see the black crosshair against the dark background (especially the right side of the screen). Otherwise, congratulations on finishing a complete game your first time participating! It took me a few tries before I submitted anything playable.
A platformer where you you use a lamp to figure out your next leap is a great idea. The character design and animations are great. I wish the controls were rebindable or it worked fully on my gamepad (everything but the lantern movement seemed to work). Left wasd, ctrl and shift and space are not comfortable keys for a platformer.
Congratulations on submitting a complete game on your first game jam! I think the third member of your team may have influenced the design of the alien (who is very cute).
I was hoping this was going to be a typing of the dead style game. Having to keep one hand on the mouse and also type letters (while holding other letters) made this very difficult. The sound and music are fantastic and I love the colors and vibrance of the game overall. Great job!
The graphics: the character design, the backgrounds, the foregrounds, are all beautifully done. I found the combats difficult because the swings of the enemies were hard to predict. I ended up winning the game by running past all of the enemies until the boss and then very carefully 'fencing' the boss. Great entry, beautiful work!
Fantastic pixel art, great job. Congratulations on getting a working game submitted in 48 hours, a real achievement!
pretty hard but good. you could add more levels.
I'm really impressed with the 3d modeling in this game. Very original character design. Wish there was a targeting reticle and a bit more feedback about health and where damage was coming from. Otherwise, fantastic job!
I missed the "supply" tab at first and was just buying guards. Once I was able to buy suppliers the game went a lot faster. I went from +7 surplus to a warning that I was about to lose in 3 seconds and not sure why. It is difficult to know how many guards you need. Great job!
Fantastic game, audio is great, graphics work really well, dialog and humor are perfect and the instant restarts are welcome. Got too hard for me, wish I had a way to instantly switch to each with feedback (maybe jkl;). Very well done!
The most I managed was about 00:30. All the grues popping up after the fire went out was a great, creepy, moment.
Great job! Witty dialogue and realistic art.
Beautiful pixel art and the mood and setting were spot on. Keep working at it!
My high score is 1! That's a strong helmet you have there! The cannonballs are most dangerous rolling around on the ground where you might trip over them.
The music is awesome, I love that track. I wish there was more feedback for when you hit the notes correctly (besides the score counter) but this is a great first entry. Congratulations on finishing the Jam, that's quite an achievement.
You have your link incorrectly labeled as Source code, label it as Windows and I think you'll get more people playing and rating your game. (I'm stuck on MacOSX over here sadly.)
Super polished for your first game jam, congratulations!
A perfect entry, great humor, graphics, and gameplay. Very well polished and extremely impressive this was done by a solo developer!
Fantastic artwork. It takes a long time to kill the enemies and the power ups charge very slowly. With some tweaking I think this could be a satisfying game to play. Nice music also!
It was tricky to fend everything off while harvesting berries for the artifact. Plus, the music was great. Overall, spectacular game!!
The server hiccuped and double-posted, sorry!
I really liked this game a lot! When I was sneaking past a monster in the dark and it sniffed, my heart raced, what a nice touch. The music is really nice. My strategy was to avoid candles at all cost and hug the walls, I'm not sure if I was in any danger but I certainly felt like I was in danger. Fantastic job!
I'm super impressed with everything you were able to accomplish in such a short period of time. Everything worked great, the controls were good, graphics and audio were very nice. I don't have any complaints, I agree there could have been more variety but given the short period of time, this was a great success!
@nullval Yes, we had six songs planned but entering in the notes turned out to be very labor intensive and the last three songs were even more intricate, the size of the arrows made it hard to see what you needed to press so we ditched them, thanks for playing!
@steinuil Thanks for playing! We had planned 6 songs but entering in the notes and timing ended up being too much work and the last three pieces were more complicated which made it too hard to see the overlapping arrows. The score screen was totally planned but axed due to time.
Everything was great, you nailed the theme, nailed the mood, graphics and sound fit very well. My number one game so far.
Not baaaaad! Where's the rating buttons?
Very nice art and music, relaxing.
Very well done! I played through the first three levels. I liked the introduction of the water gun, very neat. The switching back and forth from red to blue every ten seconds fit the theme very well. The jumping was a bit 'floaty' but I didn't really have any complaints. Very impressive and well done.
Wow, you got a lot done in a very short period of time! The controls changing every 10 seconds was very frustrating, which I think was the point. I'm not sure if the enemy spacecraft are destructible, I was able to destroy astroids but not enemies. A health bar would be helpful, I wasn't really sure what the effect of damage was. I'm amazed you put an upgrade system in as well. So many features!
Very well done, the idea matches the theme well. I was very impressed you made multiple levels and the music and tileset was different for each level. I made it half-way through level 2, I think it's beatable but it seems very difficult to make it from charging station to charging station, basically I was just making it with a fraction of a second to spare. My only complaint is getting hung up on the terrain when jumping.
I survived 39 days. The theme is because each day is 10 seconds? I was also thinking it could be related to the Doomsday Clock, you know "10 seconds to midnight". I felt like there was a theme of environmental protection in this game, cutting down all the trees to light fires and try and drive back the new ice age. I played through to the very end, with my final tiny fire in a small patch of green in the gigantic screen of ice. Very well done!
I was able to win in my third or fourth try by putting some crossbows up early and then digging deep for a bunch of gold and filling out the rest of the spots with the higher power weapons. This game is an absolute success! You made a complete game, that works, is fun, matches the theme, looks and feels good. I really have no complaints, well done!
I'd give it points for humor if that were a category. I actually really enjoyed this despite not knowing what my goal was as the pigeon. I'm guessing the every 10 seconds is related to how long a pigeon can fly. I ended up just staying on the ground the entire time because I could outrun grandma without flight and was vulnerable after landing. Graphics were well done, the music fit the feel well. Good job!
Are games art?
Great job! I spent way too much time playing this game. The skeleton wizards are OP. I have about 15 of them and they just mop everything up. I'm guessing there's no end-state just never-ending increasing waves of enemies?
Sorry, everyone! Just published it.
Wow! Really scary, the thumping of the monster chasing behind me definitely got my heart rate up. I didn't get much further than past the first door. My sense of direction is pretty bad to begin with and the monster didn't seem to let up. I'm going to let more skilled players beat this one I think. Great job!
Really well done, I think there's room for more games like this. I'd like to see this expanded, having the ability to search through crates, for instance. What's really missing is a day timer and the instant feedback about whether you made any mistakes. What made Paper's Please so good was the time and money pressure along with the tension as you let someone through and had to wait to see if you would be penalized or not. I think adding that element would make the game more compelling.
Are we only able to send treaty proposals on behalf of the Blue and Green factions? Is there a way to change the colors in the upper right corner?
It says "we desperately need food, we desperately need tools" who are "We" are we one of the factions? What color?
