The beginning is quite slow (or I didn't get what you have to do before the tunnels are complete) but become hard really fast. I love how you can push enemies in from of the queen.

Really interesting idea and some great little sprites.
It would be good to be able to do something at the start - like tunnel out to the attackers so you can be tactical and proactive, rather than purely reactive - but an interesting idea.

The start is quite slow but it builds a certain level of fear watching all those soldiers closing in on the queen. Would have wanted the start to be a bit faster and maybe that the difficulty ramped up a bit slower but overall, very nice!
This is the best crafted and designed game up until now. Those sprites.... i just love the looks of your game. The only problem, as the others already said, is the beginning. It's just dragging on and teasing the player. It's dragging on so much, that i even though that i would have missed some controlls. But no, i just had to wait patiently for the enemies to arrive. Still the best game so far, by a mile!
Great job on this one! Graphics and audio perfectly fit with each other :) Only suggestion is perhaps the make the green bar fill up faster? I never could get to the evolve stage. But maybe I just didn't figure out a great strategy. I was able to keep it alive for a long time, and on my longest streak it only died because I waited too late to click the heal button. Great project!
Quick reminder to get more players: Use a thumbnail for your game. Otherwise your game is presented with this grey box. Some great Games are not played because of a missing thumbnail ... You can still change it by editing your submission page :)

I tried to play your game which did not start completely. Tried it on firefox, the music was playing but the image stayed dark grey. The music was nice and the privided screenshot looked promising though :)
ok worked on chrome. Not sure if it was my browser or some addon. The game was fun to play as others mentioned a bit slow in the begining. The Pixel art was realy good! And i liked the overall design.
The acid and evolve where not working or I did not notice the effect. But overall great entry and some promising mechanics :)

I like your game! Here are some things that could be improved though:
1. The start is slow. It takes so much time to fill a green bar. Would be nice to have more variety in actions from the start (since you already implemented all that)
2. The combat system is not clear. Should I press something in order to attack? Or just staying in front of an enemy is enough?
3. The actual action happens only in the middle of the screen. IMO, you could just zoom in 2x. It would also make the art more readable and visible.
@mulberg thanks so much! We will consider everything you noticed, because we are thinking on continuing creating this game. About combat system, we thought it would be obvious from a guide that you don't need to press anything, but probably not. Great idea about zoom, we were thinking to add some action on the whole map, but then didn't have time to realise everything we wanted (as usualy)

Nicely made little game. Would be nice to have something to occupy one's time during the tunnelling phase, and the healing rewards for the bodies vs how long it takes to actually kill the little guys feels a bit unbalanced, but overall the gameplay was fun and effective. Well done.
Very good pixel art ! At the beginning I did not understood how to kill ennemies but it and works well, and pushing the ennemies down on the queen is a good idea !
Fantastic artwork. It takes a long time to kill the enemies and the power ups charge very slowly. With some tweaking I think this could be a satisfying game to play. Nice music also!
Wow! Awesome graphics! Take me a minute to understand "why the corpses are glued on me?" Nice music and sound effects!

Got to 85 first try :slight_smile: I would have liked to use all the abilities, but after using the second one, the queen was at 30% and got outnumbered quickly. Maybe you can tweak those numbers a bit, but besides that a solid entry ! Enjoyed it!
Nice game! Love the graphics and art you made for the game. The Music is nice as well. Love the alien theme! That art you made for your header is amazing! great work
Nice stylish graphics, music and sound effects. It is hard to attack enemy on top of you: you should walk left and right to attack and you can push two enemies on top and they get stuck, so you cannot attack them. Sprites need Z-ordering: you can stand on top of Queen :) Also, game needs more variety of enemies and more dynamics, especially at the beginning.
@baubau this is the part of mechanics that you need to think when to use this ability, but the game is a bit unbananced so this is the problem that the first time probably is the last :D thanks for playing anyway!

Cool idea, but getting to anything other than acid seems impossible or at least extremely hard, even when pushing the enemies that pop up from the 4 corners in front of the queen to be eaten. Nice graphics and nice music. The ability to dig would be cool.
Really cool game. It was a little too easy to push enemies into the queen if they took the right tunnel (bottom left and right, mostly). Also, I tried to evolve a second time and my character seemed to disappear.
I liked the idea and graphics. However I felt there is an issue with the rythm of the game. I would have liked something quicker. Imho the game would gain fun by killing the ennemies quicker and having more ennemies. Maybe an ability to dig and/or to refill the digged tiles. Good work overall!
Nice pixel art ! I think I had a duplication glitch where lot of ennemies were stack in top of each other
Great graphics & music and the concept is really cool. Gameplay was pretty confusing and frustrating at first though. As others have said the beginning is pretty slow, so maybe it would be nice to have a couple enemies come one by one right off the bat. The body-pushing mechanic wasn't totally obvious in-game so I had to re-read the description to figure out how to do anything. The auto-attack is nice but I wonder if it might feel better for the player to have more control. (ie, have a stronger attack that kills enemies more quickly but you have to press a key to do it.) My next attempt, I could survive for a while but wasn't really making enough progress to make it to the other abilities aside from heal. I didn't realize you could push alive enemies into the queen until reading some of the other comments here, and even then that was pretty finicky (dependent on enemy position) and I could only get enough energy to use earthquake, which basically just made the game start over. With some gameplay tweaks and a balance pass this could be really cool, definitely has some potential. Nice work!
Sprites are the highlight of the game. Concept is also cool, I like the bomberman-like grid system. However, everything takes too much time for it to be gripping experience. You literally can't do anything for the first minute or two and enemies take too many hits to kill, especially when they're in a pile of 5-8 soldiers.
BTW, you are the #44 out of 70 games titled "Keep It Alive". :D
