LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Tightrope Theatre by AdventureIslands 2014-12-11T23:55:00

Very fun! The controls were excellent, I never felt cheated by death, despite the intentional sliding due to the unicycle. Really well done experience. If you're planning on continuing development, might I suggest a Rayman-style 'Oooo! Ahhh!' system for particularly tough jumps?

One-Floor Dungeon by Ryusui 2014-12-09T08:30:00

Pretty solid action-roguelike! Would've loved to see more level variations, but what's there is tight and fun to play. I liked the player's speed and projectile speed, everything felt just right.

entropy by alyphen 2014-12-09T23:14:00

Liked the alternate interpretation of the theme, and I appreciated that the game was a bit different from other entries!

Outpost: New World by BMacIntosh 2014-12-09T05:02:00

Pretty cool concept, it'd be neat to see it fleshed out with more building types and upgrades. Had a fun time with it!
Music did a great job of building an eerie, desperate atmosphere, which the game reflected well a few years in once my civilization was crumbling. Nice job.

Dungeon of Jest by Ithildin 2014-12-09T02:14:00

I enjoyed the floaty jump... :)

Metal Killer Bee vs. The Gangstas by zompi 2014-12-09T22:13:00

That was fun! Nice to play a game with a decent skill ceiling. Full-screen would've been nice, as I also kept clicking other windows.

Fungus War by skonkan 2014-12-11T11:51:00

Neat idea, I had some trouble knowing if I was really making a difference though.

Rudolph by TijmenTio 2014-12-09T03:41:00

Very fun little game! Those reindeer sure are pissed.

Goblin Crown Fever by Nekith 2014-12-09T02:22:00

Had a nice silly vibe, thought the music and art direction were paired really well.

12 Hours by Wilson 2014-12-11T12:09:00

Really fun!! Simple stealth systems but they worked very well, I enjoyed that quite a bit! I wonder if you tried adding a different objective, like 'get to extraction zone'? Might change the formula a bit. Even still, I had a good time with it!

Don't you touch da bouncy by Phyyl 2014-12-09T04:40:00

Pretty fun! Nice use of screen shake and heavy bass sounds.

Modern Dwarfare by PoQA Games 2014-12-10T22:38:00

Revealing the map gradually was very cool, and the whole experience was very finely balanced (until I died, but I suppose that had to happen at some point). Pretty fun!

One life hero by komjaur 2014-12-09T04:36:00

Not sure what I'm suppose to be doing in game...

Abdominal Snowman by Dissiden7 2014-12-09T04:47:00

Fun little platformer. I liked the shrinking mechanic, made some levels very tense! A bit difficult to jump off the walls, but was still pretty fun.

Claustrophobia by OldPeculier 2014-12-12T00:08:00

Pretty cool little game, definitely would like to see more of it! More item variation, monster variation, etc. I lasted until 09:25, when my (Web Improved) froze. Not sure what happened.

Isiphudi by hbocao 2014-12-09T22:40:00

Enjoyed my second run much more than my first, where I was unable to afford any weapon before I died. Nice enemy variety forcing you to change tactics. Would've liked to keep my old guns and be able to switch between them for different situations. All in all it was pretty fun!

Pixplorer by Nega Drive 2014-12-09T04:01:00

I liked the zoom-in mechanic, thought that was a clever way to adhere to the theme. As mentioned controls were a bit floaty, but there were still some fun jumping challenges and good level design there! Eventually got stuck in the bottom right, with too daunting a path back to the next checkpoint. Checkpoint system was a great idea, too.

Pixel Adventure by Rnd 2014-12-09T02:58:00

Level layout was pretty thoughtful, with some more advanced checkpoints I think it'd be fun to keep trying the trickier jumps. Otherwise it has a nice pace to it!

ONE WORLD - DEFENSE OF THE SACRED SHRINE by CornflowerBlue 2014-12-09T05:12:00

Really fun! Liked the upgrade options, character controlled smoothly, pleasing art style (reminiscent of Ragnarok Online). Was pretty hard for me though.

ONE WORLD - DEFENSE OF THE SACRED SHRINE by CornflowerBlue 2014-12-09T05:28:00

Ended up giving it another go, changed my strategy, made it to wave 15 before I stopped. Pretty engrossing little game, nicely done!!

Dugeon Loop by sorle 2014-12-09T06:17:00

Neat concept, I like the idea of having movement restricted yet predictable. Could use more of a challenge, as it is now it's just a matter of running around enough. Nice idea though!

I HATE FLIES! by lukepilgrim 2014-12-09T22:07:00

Nice game, you made it very satisfying to squash flies with the screen shake.

Grid-based base-defender by Bronaldplo 2014-12-10T23:09:00

Very fun little game, nice idea and good variety of towers.

Square Dance by chaosed0 2014-12-10T01:14:00

I really enjoyed this game! Controls were great, very fast and responsive, and the combo system was well-implemented.

Adventure Smasher by Windmill Games 2014-12-10T23:31:00

Pretty fun game! I especially liked the adherence to RPG-player tropes: warrior charges the boss, ranger kites endlessly, mage stands still blasting with magic, and rogue ignores everything else and heads for the treasure.

Fido, Fiona & Fidel by pjimmy 2014-12-11T14:00:00

Great idea! It was a little hard, but I loved the concept of unreliable helpers (especially through lovable companion animals :)). I got there in end, nice work.

Touch of Light by XilenceX 2014-12-09T06:04:00

Fantastic atmosphere, music and sound matched up so well with the serene pace and movement of the game play. I almost think even the score at the game over screen is unnecessary - it was very pleasant just floating around the environment at my own pace.

Same Insane by hazzahazzam 2014-12-09T06:46:00

Very nice game! Don't know why you removed humour, I quite enjoyed a few of those challenges. Simple but engaging enough, was fun puzzling out each level.

The Sacred Glyphs by mokesmoe 2014-12-10T22:59:00

I liked the concept, but there was so much input delay when drawing/removing that it was frustrating to play :(

ManyQuest by SkullPixel 2014-12-11T13:16:00

Definitely a cool mechanic that's worth exploring some more. I'd suggest focusing on balancing - some levels seemed impossible (or I lost immediately due to enemy spawns).

Inventory by TheMeorch 2014-12-10T22:49:00

Fantastic, very funny, challenging but not impossible puzzles, great work.

Smash N Bash by 5k0d 2014-12-11T12:00:00

Cool idea, and some nice variation in enemies! Upgrades were satisfying to purchase (though unfortunately, I couldn't buy them for free like others :().

R by Floriaen 2014-12-11T12:16:00

Pretty cool shooter, it could use more variety but probably outside the scope of 11 hours :P. I liked the health system - very neat way of showing current hit points.

Attack of the Questionable Snowmen by nine baobabs 2014-12-09T22:18:00

Controls pretty well, fun to move around and kite the snowmen. Wish it was took less shots to knock their hats off.

Ghost Digger by lexi 2014-12-09T02:12:00

Nice tense game play, ghosts were pretty scary!

Silverwarrior by jangler 2014-12-12T00:19:00

Excellent feel to the game, really well done. Could see it being a great foundation for a local-multiplayer arena or the like. Dug the sound track.
Very curious theme too... throwing silverware at scorpions! :D

Maze of Doom by cyrixd 2014-12-09T02:48:00

Thanks for the feedback - I've added a description of the boss fight mechanics. Not sure why it's crashing, I've been running it fine in Chrome.

You Gotta Feed the Wizards by lycrashampoo 2014-12-09T08:20:00

I liked the concept of manipulating a puzzle board with a character, though I found it difficult to get the right item into the proper slot.

Of Carrots And Blood by Trite Games 2014-12-09T23:07:00

Simple & solid game play, I really dug the sound track and the art style!

Spacebank Heist by BoxedMeatRevolution 2014-12-09T08:44:00

Really fun game! Nice level layout with multiple routes, each with their own unique challenge. I liked trying different tactics and overall strategies, there's quite a bit of depth here!

Gnome's Dungeon by madmaw 2014-12-29T06:14:00

Really clever game! It took me a bit to really grasp the game strategically, but there are quite a number of interesting movement options. Very clever design, I enjoyed it a lot.

An Icy Night In Snowman's Land by Jacic 2014-12-10T23:20:00

Some good puzzles in there with tricky solutions, I enjoyed it!

Blockade by TheGreenTie 2014-12-09T05:05:00

Haha that was wicked funny, I did not expect the twist. Great audio and visual effects too, kept it very frantic.

Duck, Jump, Die by Divitos 2014-12-09T02:40:00

I liked it, mood was very light-hearted and fun, music very bouncy and enjoyable. Controls could be a touch more responsive, and the wait between obstacles is a bit too long for me.

LD33 — You are the Monster

Run Fonster, Run! by Larzan 2015-09-01T12:05:00

Found it very difficult to get past the guards, they seemed to spot me when I was clearly not in their vision cone.

Abduction by Keon 2015-09-01T08:46:00

Quite a fun game! Really enjoyed the upgrade progression, nice combination of fighting and abducting. Never felt like I was in too much danger, so perhaps more enemies would've added to the challenge (flying enemies?). Really good effort, definitely had fun with this one!

T For Terror by Thorig 2015-09-02T08:12:00

Very difficult, had a nice old-school feel to it. It could stand some polish in the jump physics, as well as enemy fire. It felt a bit unfair that enemy bullets could travel the whole screen but mine didn't, plus it was hard to know when their bullets were coming. I battled through for a while and had some fun; keep at it!

Brood by SecondDimension 2015-09-01T08:27:00

Pretty cool concept, very well executed and polished. Loved the art style, plus your use of the theme is great. The management cycle of grabbing new eggs, feeding young hatchlings and sending out fully grown monsters was tightly tuned, but I feel like there's a key threat missing that would tie it all together. Something to give more urgency or over-arching strategy. Still had a good time playing until my nest was nuked. Great work.

Dungeon decorator simulator. by grifdail 2015-09-03T08:37:00

It's a nice idea, but I felt the pacing was a bit off. It would also be more rewarding to see the adventurers traveling through the dungeon instead of just increasing my gold. That would give me more incentive to build buildings, like a tower defense. Cool concept, with some more love I'm sure it'll be great!

Slime VS City by ItsSacraficed 2015-09-03T08:49:00

Oddly satisfying to destroy the windows...

Lurker of the Night: Shamzalla by VividReality 2015-08-25T06:41:00

Very pretty game, with good humor and great audio design! I liked the point-and-click style of it, too. I struggled a bit with knowing what was interactable and how, but eventually I scared the beejesus out of her. Nice entry!

I Am the Baby <3 by euske 2015-09-03T09:22:00

Fantastic game, one of the best I've played. Controls were just a touch iffy, and I got trapped a number of times by overly-friendly vacuum cleaners, but it was really quite fun once the difficulty was raised in the later levels. Excellent job.

Bombercat by orion_black 2015-09-03T10:47:00

Not a bad concept that I think could be quite fun when fleshed out a bit. I'd even experiment with making it turn based and more of a puzzle, given the distinct enemy interactions you have. Nice ideas.

Teenage Monster by dpisarcik 2015-09-02T08:31:00

Nice take on the theme! I wish I could've seen the ending, but after playing for a while my cool level had barely risen, I could never find enough hair gel, and then I wasn't able to open any more lockers. Controls were a bit tough to use, but I really liked the concept. Cool game!

Free Me, You Idiots! by GBGames 2015-09-04T07:57:00

Very creative, I can see a lot of potential for expansion as well! It could use some form of threat to make the player's decisions more strategic, but the core concept is very cool.

Monster in the House by Jani Nykänen 2015-08-25T08:47:00

Nice game, very focused idea. Good variety in children hopping patterns to keep it interesting. Art style is very distinct - I won't forget that massive chin on the wife!

Tale of a Mad Mage by gingerBill 2015-08-24T20:30:00

Really loved the aesthetic, combined with the old school controls and game play created a very nice experience. I took a lot of damage through the walls though, and wasn't sure if that was intended or if I could do the same.

Delicious Cortex by deepnight 2015-09-13T02:14:00

Wonderful game, so much polish and attention to detail. Great stuff.

Monster in the Woods by Move127 2015-09-04T08:53:00

Wow very ambitious to make such an interweaving story-based game for a jam! I think you just about pulled it off, too. Would have liked more clues from dialogue as to which items worked on who, but in general it wasn't too difficult to figure out. Had a good time playing through twice in order to beat it. Great work!

Yeti Trial by JoJoX 2015-09-05T02:05:00

Nice game. Turn-based movement was a great choice, made it a very strategic affair. I had difficult understanding why people were getting suspicious, even if I killed someone completely out of sight of the others. Felt a bit too punishing. Still had a fun time with it trying to disentangle the systems. Increasing the music tempo was a nice touch. Good work!

OMNOMNOM by Zupoman 2015-08-25T06:07:00

Really fun game! Very challenging level design, I couldn't get the level with the snipers on the buildings and helicopter overhead. Had a lot of fun though.

Monday Night Monsters by spotco 2015-09-05T15:09:00

Best game I've played. So original and genuinely fun. Would love to see a full release!

Flesh & Fish by metalchouchen 2015-09-04T08:18:00

Very unsettling game, well done for a strong take on the theme.

SludgeLand by MFEP 2015-09-04T08:13:00

Played the original version, so not sure if it's been updated since, but there are some serious control issues. Jumping is unresponsive and very floaty, and the friction amounts make moving a chore. Really need to nail those elements in a platformer.
That said, I was really impressed by the level design, and the novel use of the guns recoil to reach far away platforms. It's a shame it was so hard to control, but I struggled through the more difficult route and got the good ending and felt quite satisfied. Very cool to make two endings with a good take on the theme.
With tighter controls and physics this would be a great entry! Lots of good ideas in there. Thanks!

Crypt of the Minotaur by excaliburjs 2015-09-04T08:29:00

Very solid game. Control was very tight and responsive, well done!

Magical Monster Ballz by DerekRumpler 2015-09-04T08:37:00

Cool idea for an old school survival game! I liked the decision to make the 'shot' a bouncy ball with its own physics, added more things to dodge.
I did discover by standing in the far left corner you can effectively survive indefinitely by jumping to dodge the razor blade and shooting the solitary enemy that gets spawned. Lasted two minutes before I decided there was nothing to break the cycle.
Not sure why I am the monster though, given that I'm the victim of a wizard...

Troopers' Starship by RoundFork 2015-09-07T11:56:00

Loved the art style, really nice blend of 3D environments with 2D sprites. Controls were excellent too, it was incredibly satisfying the land the lunge. Had a lot of fun nailing guards with it. I think the level design could be improved, since I never felt like there were any particularly clever solutions, most of the time I was just baiting the AI or hiding behind walls they refused to go around. Very nice atmosphere though, and impressively polished. Great work!

Monster Disco by Four Quarters 2015-09-02T08:43:00

Nice combination of rhythm gameplay with the monster theme! I felt the rhythm timings were really punishing, and almost seemed to vary throughout my playtime? Also I couldn't tell if there was anything wrong with missing a beat. Love the art style though, excellent presentation overall. Great work!

Eat Sheep & Die by Conk 2015-08-26T12:43:00

Really enjoyed the look and feel of the game, very nice mood and controls. I didn't feel enough threat from the farmer or dire wolf to prevent me from slowly and safely eating everything. Really solid otherwise!

Bad Kaiju Ju by synchingfeeling 2015-09-04T12:43:00

Really nice story combined with the retro graphics, created a strong atmosphere that was just missing audio! Great use of theme too, the only game I've played where we control 'the monster' for a good cause.

Who's The Monster by wellingtonbecker 2015-09-05T01:53:00

Solid shooter, nice idea to swing the perspective. Maybe a simple combo system would've added some more strategy, rewarding extra points for killing multiple enemies with one shot? Controlled well though, my record was 134.

Monsters Under The Bed by Interface 2015-08-25T09:03:00

Cool game! I liked how you disempowered the monster, and the use of shadows for determining position worked really well. The whole environment was very cute as well, definitely felt a child's bedroom.

One thing that stealth mechanics tend to revolve around is waiting for enemies to move. My game also suffers from some periods of waiting without action. I think it's an interesting challenge to come up with a design that gives players something to do while hiding, some way to manipulate when/where/how long they hide.

Good work! :)

Monster System by freaknarf 2015-09-01T11:52:00

Really liked the pixel art style, and you had some great over-the-top effects like screen shaking and tons of explosions. However, these same effects made it difficult to interpret feedback, and it was hard to tell if what I was doing had any impact. I also think I had an endless soldier respawning bug :(. Nice work though, with a little polish I reckon it'll play very well!

Groll's Revenge by cyrixd 2015-08-25T06:43:00

Sorry about the confusion - the build is a Windows executable that should run on Linux/Mac. I'll remove the Linux/Mac links to make that more clear!

People Can Be Monsters by amras0000 2015-09-06T08:30:00

Really cool concept that took me a few tries to figure out (including losing during the 'tutorial'). Would be good to have a slower introduction to ensure players know all the mechanics before they can lose. Great interpretation of the theme, and a pretty fun game as well. Nice work.

Elevator Monster by MrKOHCEPBAHT 2015-09-01T08:57:00

Pretty fun little typing game. Had interesting strategy since you could only pull one row per column at a time, so you had to go through each column of keys. I was confused as to when the acid color would change, which made planning ahead difficult. Nice entry!

Crazy Alien by approxx 2015-09-05T01:42:00

Well done! The art style and music worked really well together, created a very nice mood. Would've loved to see more levels, but what is there is good!

Massacre Monday by wg_phancock 2015-09-03T08:07:00

Excellent entry! Really great visual and audio feedback, the game had a great feel to it.

Village Defender by RedFil 2015-09-12T00:35:00

Neat game, the music and art style fit very well. Mouse movement felt a bit clunky, but was manageable enough.

Boblar's Ascension by AzureAspect 2015-09-11T23:51:00

Application crashed while loading on my Windows 7 laptop.

Pacmon by SpiritJZL 2015-09-11T23:57:00

Nice idea, the roadblocks are a good addition. I think the score system could use a little balancing, particularly since at the end I had no idea how well I had done. Good take on a classic game!

Sly Slime - Revenge On All Players by reckhou 2015-08-26T12:33:00

Really liked the intro cut scene, very impressive to get that done in addition to the entire game. Visually very nice as well. I felt the shooting mechanics were a bit hard to use and understand, and wish there was more feedback from dealing/taking damage. And even though the power ups were a bit unclear on their use, they added a lot of depth and fun to the game.

Monster Chomper by PokeyOne 2015-09-04T08:59:00

Solid little entry. Controlled well but could've used a bit more variation. Would've been cool if monsters were sized according to their size; could try to make jump height inversely related to size for balance?

Jamie Oliver: What's Cooking? by BOBANY 2015-08-25T08:35:00

I have no idea what just happened. It was definitely an experience.

Werewolf Quest by Yrr 2015-09-02T08:01:00

Really excellent entry, very complete game. Had an excellent old school feel to it.

Monster Fighters by REIN1 2015-09-06T12:11:00

Nice little fighter. Pushing your opponent off the building is a good touch. Not sure it was intended, but our characters kept falling down just by walking? It was cool to knock each other over, but falling from walking was a bit hard to control.

The Mammoth: A Cave Painting by inbetweengames 2015-09-06T08:45:00

Excellent work. Told a very strong, realistic and morally ambiguous story in a powerful way. Great use of theme and really nice mood created. I was desperate to keep the children safe.

Murderers by Gammel 2015-09-13T02:03:00

Nice idea, I appreciated the different skills and play styles between the characters. More feedback from using abilities would've helped though, since it was difficult to figure out when I was hitting or being hit.

Defense of the ancient treasure - An stealth RTS by Jacktheviper 2015-09-03T08:21:00

Very well executed, once I realised I could kill the soldiers. I thought I had to sneak past them entirely at first since my initial kill attempt didn't work. Afterwards I could clear each level with a single scorpion, just baiting the soldiers towards me. Had a lot of fun with it though, very nice work!

Bush Man by willchil 2015-09-04T08:24:00

Cool game. I felt the frequency of police was a bit high, I had a lot of dead time just waiting for police to pass or turn their backs. Nice concept though.

Sunset Monster by dregamr 2015-08-26T12:26:00

I enjoyed a lot of the bullet patterns, but as others have said, the near instant firing of the laser feels very unfair and makes it frustrating to progress. Other than that the game is quite solid, I wish I could get further!

We Missed You! by RHY3756547 2015-08-25T05:44:00

Fantastic game, love the art and the brilliant use of theme.

Boss M.O.B. by Bitterdeath 2015-09-03T09:03:00

Awesome idea! I really had a lot of fun with this. Great application of the theme. There was just enough strategy to keep it interesting without becoming overwhelming. I think you could expand this into something really special!
