LD33 — You are the Monster

Monster Living in A Cave Terrorizes Nearby Village! by Unentokku 2015-09-01T23:42:00

The idea of choosing your actions and seeing then being played out is an interesting take on turn based combat and has a lot potential, but it seems that there is no way to determine in advance the actions taht the enemy is likely to take wich coupled with the fact that most of their effects are dependent on luck makes the combat feel a bit random, and this can frustrate some players.

Eggplant Escape by cinnamonmelonpig 2015-09-07T20:37:00

The graphics were very charming and the controls were well calibrated, the sound design worked well enough except for background music that became a bit distracting after a while.

One thing about the difficult is that I felt that it got too high pretty fast, but at the same time there wasn't any meaningful punishment for dying, for example after you get a key it is often better to die than to backtrack to the door , this made the game somewhat frustrating, it could've been a little longer with a smoother difficult curve.

Dungeon Decks by Nick Weihs 2015-09-07T21:18:00

Isometric turn-based tactics is among my favorites genres and I really liked your twist on it, just some things to be aware of, the drawing cards mechanics introduces a major element of randomness into the game and if the player can't tell exactly which actions he will have available it becomes harder to plan ahead, also it wasn't really necessary to display the enemy cards at all times as it cluttered the interface a little.

Purge by Lukbebalduke 2015-09-13T01:04:00

The graphics were pretty amazing and the gameplay very smooth and fitting for the theme, it would have been great to have a minimap or other way to increase the player situation awareness though.

Who's Da Monster ? by Natura-Time 2015-08-29T01:15:00

The concept for this game caught my attention and was very unique among the others entries but I think that it didn't do a good job at explaining the rules of the gameplay, also being sent back a level when you accuse the wrong person was very frustrating.

Don't Steal My Treasure! by dan.marchand 2015-09-01T23:22:00

Pretty interesting game, it is surprising that even with the small amount of time to develop the gameplay is so well balanced and has a lot of potential to be expanded.

Player Rush by Hot Box Games 2015-09-08T03:10:00

I must say that this is one of the better games I've played during this jam, while far from perfect in any one aspect, everything was masterfully put together and the end result is a complete and well made game.

Play by ChaosCult 2015-08-31T20:53:00

Superb atmosphere and presentation, all the assets are well done and fit together.
I started having some trouble with the camera, it kept shaking around, not sure if it is something wrong on my end I was using the windows version.

Don't Be Afraid My Son by r8berto 2015-08-29T00:37:00

This game was very well designed, you have a clear goal and a simple set of rules, but still it was hard to figure out exactly how to win and it felt satisfying.

KAIJU TYCOON by NoWandStudios 2015-09-01T23:54:00

The visuals are really great and reminded of the strategic view of games like the old Syndicate, really a shame that a more involved gameplay could not have been implemented in the short timeframe allowed by LD.

Power Lich by rattower 2015-08-28T21:13:00

The idea of playing a powerful lich on a quest to increase your power and is a lot of fun, everytime you kill one of those pesky guards or villagers and raise their skeleton to be added them to your army of darkness is a joy.

My main complaint would be the lack of some features like pathfinding for the skeletons and enemies and more enemy variety but that is understandable considering the time frame, the game obviously has a lot of potential to be expanded.

AM I? by DruhinM 2015-09-02T21:47:00

It is nice to note how the presentation and innovative take on the theme instantly made such straight foward gameplay a lot more interesting, well done.

Ghosts by Roboboy 2015-09-03T03:02:00

The idea for the game was exciting and had the right scope for the competition.

The big problem was that the gameplay ended up being somewhat ramdom as the player had no way of knowing where the pellets or pac man would be, also the ghosts being killed by pac man is potentially frustrating considering that the player is problably expecting to be able to damage him as a ghost.

The sound effect for catching the pellets made me giggle.

Excremonsters! by Ninja Garage 2015-08-29T02:28:00

The concept art and graphics were really attention grabbing and the competition to see who brings more poop to the neighborhood is fun even if a bit simplistic.

Annoyed Mummy by Obvious_San 2015-09-03T02:40:00

The game has a really nice look, kind like you are looking at a toyset, all the lights and little details on the wall made a nice atmosphere.
I thought that the girls had too much health which made the Mummy seem weak, also at the end it didn't show the score correctly, only a blank space.

The Skinwalker by Mothdan 2015-08-28T21:55:00

The audio and graphics managed to convey a creepy atmosphere and I liked the basic idea but I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to kill the guy sitting in front of the TV without being killed myself, it would have been good to have something indicating when I was hitting or being hit.

Attack On Cthulhu by lancemaker 2015-08-28T21:26:00

The Cthulhu looks really well done, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of challenge but to be fair you are controlling the great Cthulhu so that does fit with the theme.

TURN ON THE LIGHT by Avant-Marde 2015-09-01T22:15:00

The sounds, lightning and overall presentation gave a nice somber atmosphere, just had some trouble figuring out the mechanics and sometimes the characters would get stuck in corners.

The Slime's Journey by VDZ 2015-09-03T00:07:00

It is impressive the amount of variety one can get out of this style of gameplay if you are just willing to put in the time.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Magical Girl Cannon by dark_hunter 2015-12-16T22:39:00

The gameplay is the well known bullet hell stuff and it is not really my kind of game but the fact that everything is so well done and working fine is very impressive, an small annoyance for me was that I couldn't bind the movement controls to the "WASD" keys.

BeatMan by Fervir 2015-12-16T21:32:00

The music is catchy and the gameplay flows nicely, I'm not very into rhythm games but I don't really have any complaints, the game is perfectly well executed within its scope.

Tiny Chase DJ by Alloyed 2015-12-16T19:15:00

The presentation is really good, the visuals fit together, the music and gameplay speed complement each other nicely.

The controls are very difficult and somewhat float because the player can't really align with a lane, if you made the cube lock itself into the lane it moves to, it would feel much better.

The game could have a better pacing as well, most of the time difficult starts already at a high level and the player will certainly fail a few times before he can get used to the controls and this feels a bit unfair.

Spriggan by Shared 2015-12-16T22:08:00

The basic gameplay mechanic is very interesting, I loved the idea of an more strategic action plaformer where just running and gunning isn't going to cut it.

What was wrong with the enemy wasn't the fact that he is too fast, but that his AI is too precise, he doesn't have any delay between jumps or when changing directions and follows the player perfectly, this was frustrating and undermined the gameplay, for example I was expecting to be able to run under him and then grow a plant to block his path, that would feel really good as a player.

Even a hardcore game should easy in the player at first presenting situations and easy enemies that serve to teach the gameplay mechanics, specially if they are unusual or hard to use.

MotherCube (strategic puzzle) by Jacktheviper 2015-12-16T18:47:00

Thanks everyone, I appreciate that you guys have took the time to play and give some feedback, but I'm a bit confused by what you mean about the controls being off, it is problably because I've been become too used to the game

My Dino by Reggianito 2015-12-16T19:59:00

The visuals are nice and the lack of menus and special effects wasn't much of a problem for me and the music did fit really well with the game theme.

But the lack of information on what I had to do was frustating in beginning, but after I managed to figure out what to do, the game was very fun.

Two small notes, the fact that you must exit and restart the game after each try is annoying and I would prefer to use "WASD" to control the character.
