LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Snowball Rolling Simulator by Connors 2015-12-19T21:21:00

Simple and not really fun, but could have been a nice timewaster if it had some chill music and sound effects. Also google drive is renaming your .love to .love.zip, you might want to find another host. Or make an .exe for extra exposure.

Get to the Points by recursor 2015-12-15T16:10:00

Lovely little puzzle game. The graphics and the sound effects complemented it pretty well. The music had some weird moments, but it wasn't bad at all. Kudos for implementing a high score table.

ORB LORDS by TravisChen 2015-12-22T06:40:00

10/10
If this doesn't win I'm going to be fucking pissed.

Snekklr by keepee 2015-12-14T20:10:00

best game hands down

Clara Stirzaker and the Crypt of Time by vidarn 2015-12-16T14:42:00

Fun little game, well designed levels. Keyboard controls didn't work for me in the web wersion for some reason.

Vine by dvdking 2015-12-14T18:12:00

Michael Bay is that you?

Super fun game. I loved everything bout it. Nice implementation of the theme (and using the other one as setting). Fun gameplay, crude graphics but amazing visuals and camera, nice variety of enemies and obstacles. I loved it. I really want this to win something. My only complaints are that the music is too high pitched and repetitive, and some fuel cans are unreachable too often.

The ending was top-tier.

Coalesce by alyphen 2015-12-14T16:39:00

Couldn't find anyone to play, so no vote from me.
The lobby music was nice and the UI was pretty, tho.

Core Invaders by CogComp 2015-12-14T21:49:00

This has a really nice Demoscene/early 3d look. The music helps too. I liked it, but most of the time could hold up to win. Also the performance was terrible.

Good to see another wings/milkshape user.

The Serpent's Shadow by NuSan 2015-12-16T16:32:00

Amazing puzzle. Loved the idea and the graphics. Your "death" condition checking might need a tweak, though: http://i.imgur.com/4ePjlnk.png

Sugarcane by bobismijnnaam 2015-12-14T17:08:00

As usual, even when the Vc++ installers are included, installing stuff is a huge turn-off for most voters.

I loved what you did with such simple graphics. The game started fun, but became kinda tedious after a while. Kudos for making your own engine, that stuff is always some extra points from me.

qBen by smealum 2015-12-14T23:50:00

"Ben is a strong independent cube who don't need no player"
Best quote ludum 2015

Even though I played trough the tutorial, the game wasn't really clear to me. I think some better highlighting of the selected cube(s) would help a lot.

yaschiki by nuprahtor 2015-12-15T03:17:00

Amazing. Wonderful atmosphere. Spooky as shit. Even the completely out-of-place jingles sound spooky.
Loved almost everything about the game. Would love to have some indicator of "I'm being hurt" and "where I'm being hurt", but other than that, didn't see anything I disliked.

Green Fingers by nexust 2015-12-14T17:12:00

Well, it's rock paper scissors. With some strategy added, yeah, but it's mostly RNG (if you can guess the enemy pattern then I'm wrong, but I didn't feel I could do so)

The music is chill, the graphics are nice, the sound effects are -way- too loud. I didn't find it particularly fun, but it wroked well and implemented the theme in an odd way.

V BALL by longloaf 2015-12-16T14:32:00

Challenging little game. Reminds me of flywrench a bit. Great job.

Tiny Chase DJ by Alloyed 2015-12-14T14:09:00

This one's pretty fun. It's probably not the most original way to use the theme(s) in a game, but it manages to sound good and look badass while doing so.

Wellspring Wanderer by Justin Mullin 2015-12-17T02:51:00

Right now the .exe download isn't working. Which is sad because I really wanted to give this a try, but not enough to install java.

Snow Growth Island by Pontus_LSS 2015-12-14T23:38:00

There's too much waiting for my taste, but nice idea and implementation. Loved the art and the music.

Lillypup by tanjent 2015-12-14T22:58:00

What a weird game.
Interesting mechanics, music was ok, kinda got stuck after growing too big with no enemies that would damage me nearby.

circular triangulation by JulianMH 2015-12-14T20:25:00

This one's super cute and fun. The levels are well designed, it feels more like a good puzzle than anthing else. Sometimes the physics/collisions were a bit wonky, but nothing that can't be expected from a 48 hour game. Bonus points for using both themes.

circular triangulation by JulianMH 2015-12-14T20:29:00

I should add, jumping only when clicking instead of when the mouse button is down could help this game a lot.

Arkham Madness by Vertigon 2015-12-15T17:08:00

Ia! Ia!
After figuring it out, it was a short but sweet game.

Temple of Doom and Friendship by A333 2015-12-14T18:01:00

Lovely graphics. The "return" sound effect is way too loud.
Took me a while to figure out the gameplay, but after that it was pretty fun.

Wizard and The Sun by HolyBlackCat 2015-12-14T16:50:00

This game was mindblowing. The graphics are neat, the animations are tight, the overall oldschool feeling it has is amazing. Even the intro reminded me of the games I played when younger. It's also super fun, and the puzzles are tight.

My only complaint is that, so far (I'm kind of stuck in a level), I have yet to see the themes applied. Besides "The sun is growing" and "you use two buttons and the arrow keys" there isn't much yet. Will be pleasantly surprised and will change my vote if I'm wrong, though.

Seriously, this better win something.

Crusader Climber Quest 64 by SSJMetroid 2015-12-15T03:52:00

This is the kind of game that makes you rage like a motherfucker, but you can't help giving it another try until you find what's at the top.
Which is why I expected to spend the following hours rating random games and now I'm stuck climbing a fucking cactus.
Music is nice, graphics are simple but look great, and the sound effects are amazing.

Lovely overall.

One Day I'll Be A Flower by Ovidios 2015-12-14T20:19:00

Super cute. Music is nice, gameplay is fun. It lagged like a motherfucker for some reason (which is odd, considering I use Löve all the time and never had that much slowdown)

Christmas Eve Late Delivery Service by ajopart 2015-12-14T17:18:00

Holy cock what just happened.

Odd game. The voice acting over the simple music was wonderful. The game wasn't particularly fun, and I don't really think I "got it", but played for about ten minutes while laughing at everything that was happening and having no clue.
A great game for stoners on christmas, yes.

Christmas Eve Late Delivery Service by ajopart 2015-12-14T17:20:00

Also I'll add.
a) If you're using unity you should make a web build, that helps a lot.
b) This is a compo entry, you need to share your source

Reaching Skyward by SelfTitled 2015-12-15T13:45:00

Lovely prototype, would love to see expanded into a game. The font is sometimes unreadable.

Wöbble by joe 2015-12-14T21:13:00

Nice little game. I got myself stuck with not enough slope to roll too many times. The music was amazing.

Super Beard by Luke 2015-12-14T17:33:00

I would definitely switch the moving to rmb, because I've accidentally ran into my death too many times.
Fun game, played for a while without really noticing where the theme was and had to come back here to check. Music and sounds were nice, shooting felt satisfying.

Isoshoot by kiiro94 2015-12-14T17:40:00

The music was nice, and the simple graphics worked well. The collision is a bit too forgiving, imho.

The Artifact by nunesbarbosa 2015-12-20T22:59:00

Something like this minus the physics was my original idea for the jam. I'm glad to see it being real. Loved the music and the sounds, the graphics were an interesting choice, the level design could have allowed to build up speed to the left faster, but otherwise it was a sweet (and short) experience.

Captain Ninjabeard by GhostBomb 2015-12-14T17:04:00

Really fun little game. I almost didn't give it a try because the screenshot looked unappealing. Boy that would have been dumb.
Loved everything about it. The music could have been more piratey, but the gameplay was solid, had nice variety of enemies, and had me hooked for about 5 minutes.
Pretty simple implementation of the theme, but it works.

Shark is a fucking bitch.

Nine till Void by Ben Allen 2015-12-14T23:28:00

I love cryptic games where you need a manual by your side to play, so this was an extremely fun experience.

Loved the style, the gameplay was fun, I would have made it a bit easier to get coins, because running out of them is why I died almost every time. But other than that, an amazingly solid experience. Would love to see more from this game.

Two Finger Platformer by pedrocb 2015-12-15T04:39:00

Well, it certainly is an original concept. It's also frustrating as shit, but managed to beat it. Nice one.

Grow in the Hole! by ErgoMeSmart 2015-12-15T16:17:00

Really nice idea. The graphics are cute and the music is super relaxing. I did enjoy that you added a way to cancel a poorly planned shot. Most golf games with mouse/touch controls don't and I'll forever hate them for that.
The ball takes too long to stop when it falls in a round hole, only thing I disliked.

Edurxcel Biolergy by peterthehe 2015-12-15T16:53:00

what did

Super Space HexaGUN by pk 2015-12-14T22:43:00

After figuring everything out, it was pretty fun. A tutorial would have been helpful.

The style and graphics are cool. The music is nice but the machine gun sound is annoying.

Give up Hope by Red_Fan games 2015-12-14T23:43:00

Really short, but fun and creative. Would love to see more.

AboveBelow by PaulJs 2015-12-14T17:45:00

Oooh, you're supposed to avoid them.

Fun game thingie. Well done for 3 hours. Would have rather have actual buttons instead of this mouse-touchpad-thing-ish, but that'll do.
Extra points for using both themes.

Eldritch Trance by TheWzzard 2015-12-14T21:18:00

Graphically impressive. But too slow to not become tedious after a while.
Still loved it.

Grow by Melusine 2015-12-14T20:42:00

Nice risk-reward gameplay. The music died at some point for no reason whatsoever. The collisions with the clouds were a bit unfair sometimes, but it was fun overall.

WAR GROWTH by Trasevol_Dog 2015-12-20T21:57:00

Odd little game. Loved the graphics. Music got really repetitive after a while, but I was too focused on the game to care.

Jack Lumber vs The Aliens by ryandali 2015-12-15T04:49:00

Your windows folder is empty, dog

Super Stones by lebrokholic 2015-12-14T23:19:00

Nice music. Graphics were a bit too small, but the "moving ground" effect looked nice. Pretty fun reimagining of the tron lightbikes.

Yggshroom by Ghen 2015-12-14T16:21:00

Hey, this one was really fun! Loved the gameplay, not super original but really engaging. Glad you used both themes, even when two buttons was used in the simplest way possible.

Little things I'd fix. If you win while holding an arrow, you'll miss the game over screen. And the wrench icon should appear a bit more often.

(why do you need water to fix the generator tho)

TWO FINGER TRACK STAR by LuckyCassette 2015-12-15T03:57:00

Same as keepee, the controls weren't as painful as expected.
It took some time to find the rhythm needed to win, and even after that it was still a challenging game. Love the properly done retro look.

Botany by Steven Miller 2015-12-14T23:01:00

Amazing concept, very well executed. I'd love to see this expanded into a full game.

I feel there was a lack of feedback when biting enemies.
Also the music was a cacophony, but that's understandable considering most devs aren't musicians.

stutter step by Evgenii Petrov 2015-12-14T17:30:00

Interesting concept. Not really a lot of fun, but a proper translation of the classic roguelikes we all love into two dimensions. The extra symbols as "bvackground" are a cute idea.

This is just personal opinion, but I think that you could add a lot of strategy and fun with some changes like
-after attacking them, enemies will follow you and pick up weapons in their way, so you can't just run until healed and try again
-holding both keys to pick up medipacks/weapons, makes picking up weapons not a chore (fuck you club stop fallin to my right side I don't want to pick you up) and some extra strategy involving saving health for later.

The cursed Queen of Exobia by gBouckaert 2015-12-15T15:58:00

Really good. Simple idea but great execution. The 'music' and graphics complemented the game really well. I think the monster grows too fast, not in a sense of "rate of growth" but how fast the new blocks appear. Many times I was in the middle of a jump and blocks appeared before me without giving me any fighting chance.

Love the spearjump mechanic. It wasn't really needed but you added it anyways, kudos for that.

Aukan and the Sacred Sprout by matiasbontempo 2015-12-16T14:16:00

Zamba?

Durples Christmas Adventure by wuppy29 2015-12-14T16:27:00

Even though you included an installer for VC++, it's gonna make a lot of people not play this. Which is bad, because it's a really fun little game, and also your first ludum entry.
Also kudos for making your own engine. That might not show on the final product, but it's something I personally like and was reflected in my voting, after some source code diving.

Puzzlerun by velddev 2015-12-14T14:15:00

This one is also pretty fun. The fast puzzle solving is an interesting mechanic. I do feel it's more suited to be a 3 button game (left, right, and forward) because having to wait for moving forward kinda ruins the rhythm. It looks good and sounds nice too, but the SFX are too loud.

My Dino by Reggianito 2015-12-14T13:37:00

Yeah, I had a lot of trouble with the handling of resolutions.
Also I added the dino literally 2 minutes before the submission hour ended because I forgot it the first time.
Thanks for playing!

My Dino by Reggianito 2015-12-14T22:39:00

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

@Jonathan: Yeah, while working on it people told me the tutorial pacing was fine, but after release everyone told me it's too fast. Sorry about that.

@Tom: Yeah, I didn't get to write a reset function. Sorry about the inconvenience. The music was hastily done in about 20 minutes, so thank you.

My Dino by Reggianito 2015-12-15T15:45:00

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

@pk: the difficulty curve was one of the last things I made before the deadline, and it was either make it a challenge or make it a walk in the park. I'll probably balance it a lot in a post-compo version.

@Ayaya33: Thanks, I forgot to scale the start and end screens. The dino scaling out of tube was supposed to be fixed, so I'll look into it. I think it's because the code considers 1366x768 to be a 16:9 ratio, when it's not exactly that, but I'm not sure.

My Dino by Reggianito 2015-12-28T06:11:00

Don't know why that happened, scorched. The links were working fine for me.

Temple of Growth by vhaugan 2015-12-14T20:48:00

Really, really good.
I really want to see a full game now.

Dungeon Surge by timeshapers 2015-12-17T19:29:00

Fucking amazing.

Cook!!! I'm Hungry!!! by WolvesOfOdin 2015-12-14T20:36:00

Unresponsive jump really kills this thing :(
It could have been fun for a while but instead it was just frustrating.

2 buttons, thats all by tozzi_a 2015-12-14T20:29:00

what

DeltaSwing by DeltaNegative 2015-12-14T22:11:00

"What the fuck is going on: the game"

I really liked it. Nice (ab)use of particles and graphical effects. Felt that it was a bit too easy. And there wasn't a lot of swinging with the way your grappling hook worked.

32r by Allthebees 2015-12-14T22:06:00

Congrats on your first jam!

Feed your demon by MrYoglu 2015-12-15T16:06:00

Interesting game, the controls were a bit odd, but it was enjoyable. It's also pretty challenging. Even if it would have clashed a lot with the graphical style (which is awesome by the way) I'd have probably had a better time remembering the different symbols from the tutorial if they had different colors.
Music is also p. cool

Careful with that watering can, Trevor! by antglynn 2015-12-16T03:22:00

Short but really sweet. I want to see more of this.

Poultry Punt by diest 2015-12-15T04:05:00

Not really original, but a fun implementation of the theme and a really well done game overall.

Abyssal Zone by Leddev 2015-12-17T18:40:00

Amazing puzzle design. The graphics are solid and "do a lot with a little". Sound effects are fine, but the game would greatle benefit from having a soundtrack, even if it was just underwater ambiance or slowed down whale singing.
As for the theme, I think that the extra challenge the 2 button controls add to puzzles are pretty well thought, but they feel really annoying when just traversing the level. And the way those spiky enemy things that move around stones were a bit too hard to understand at first.

Nice game, will definitely keep playing for a while.

Jane and the Sugar Cane by gabriel_pnc 2015-12-14T20:56:00

The GAME OVER sound effect is too loud.

The Legend Of The Last Plant by InsertNameHere 2015-12-14T17:00:00

Agree with Icel. The web player on this page didn't finish loading, neither did the one in your website.

I tried the windows download. The game is pretty simple. The tank(?) controls are a pain in the ass, but I had some fun with it. The music was kinda annoying after a while. You should make the noise intruments shorter.
Bonus points for using both themes.

Colonize by WeirdMind 2015-12-14T20:08:00

Gameplay is a bit confusing, but I agree with Ethan. It's a whole lot of gameplay for a weekend

Luxurious Panama Hats by RainFrogs 2015-12-15T03:22:00

After a few attempts, I found some rhythm to the game. It's weird, but fun. Could greatly benefit from having some soft sfx and some old time music (hint: lots of public domain old timey music over at archive.org), but everything in the game is solid.

Wings of the World Tree by hydancer 2015-12-15T04:28:00

Super fun, gets pretty challenging fast.
Graphics are cute but solid, music could have been better but isn't really out of place. Pretty good game overall.
Bonus points for using both themes.

MONSTER KING by rogberth 2015-12-14T22:03:00

Well, I do love a challenge.

This game reminds me of an amazing little game called banana nababa. Could have really used some sounds or music, but this'll do. I agree with jcmonkey on the boss hit thing

FEEDING TIME! by celsyum 2015-12-19T20:40:00

It's a compo entry, you need to share your source.
