Can't download windows version, 404.
Ok, I built it from sources. You should remove the code that writes debug data to the console before publishing the game. Also, on windows you can add -mwindows flag if you don't want to open console window at all. And another thing: instead of asking users to download SDL, you can put SDL2.dll file in the `bin` folder of your executable.
Downloads from dropbox requires registration. How about an alternative download link?
Guys who got the error, if you really want to play it, you should update your videocard drivers. The game uses OpenGL 4.3, old drivers don't support it.
I'm suprised that so many people have videocards witout GL4.3 support. Ok, I'll make a version for GL3.3.
It's strange. Ring can be used at any time after you pick it up.
Hm. I'll try to fix it.
Reuploaded again. Now it should work. (Tested it on integrated Intel videocard with GL 3.3 support.)
@Raphy
There are two types of doors. Thin ones open automatically when you touch them. Thick ones сan't be opened, they are solid blocks. Exit from start house and go to the left. There is a small thing near the alien ship, you can pick it up.
Thank you! In the nearest house there is a secret entrance to underground tunnel.
@jomomomo
It's C++ & OpenGL, there is no way to make a web version. :C
I can't figure out how to build tanks. LMB doesn't work.
10/10, cutest and funniest game I've seen so far. I will not be surprised if this game will be the best in the `Humor` category.
It's absolutely amazing! I love `Get rekt` death sound. It's the best death message I've ever seen. :D
Ok, I finished it! 106 deaths. :D
Nice and hard.
Nice, it remind me about Hammerfight! I completed it. It was not that hard, because character can push boss right onto spiky balls.
By the way, I found some problems: chains are very loose, it's hard to spin the balls around.
Also, after grabbing some separate-chain-attachment bonuses I can't even get the balls up from the ground.
The game feels very nice, I like the fancy pixel graphics and audio.
I would like to see some sort of more interesting ending, though.
And controls could be better: no horisontal friction in midair is ok, but lack of the moving ability is frustrating.
Also, how it's connected with the theme?
10/10, that all I can say! :D
327! Wonderful game! Graphics is simple, but looks very nice with all these particles and shaking screen.
I can't play it. When I start the game, my monitor turns black and shows the error: `Out of range: 99.4kHz/60Hz`.
I know why. Because he opt-out'ed all categories. -.-
Arts look fine, everything else needs to be polished. :D
I like the idea of having different types of weapons for different purposes. Recharge mechanics is also good, it makes game more interesting and difficult.
But I wish the controls were better: for example, ability to change weapos with mouse wheel would be nice.
Да, твоя тоже неплохо получилась. Тут не часто встретишь хорошо сделанное 3D.
А вообще, надеюсь, мою игру хоть кто-нибудь осилил. :D
@Iak , oops, sorry. There was a minor syntax error in my shaders, looks like some videocards are too pedantic about it.
I tweaked shader code, now game should work.
Crap, I messed up jump height again! And the game was impossible to complete. Now it should be fine.
Yep it is. You ride this screen during the almost whole game.
Yea, I know. Hotkey to repeat previous command would be good, but now it's too late. :D
Ctrl+Enter might help on small screens. What about aspect ratio, it seems to be broken on your side. :/
See the walkthrough, maybe you just jumped in the wrong place? :P
Symbols were hardcoded to specific keys. Sorry for that.
I wasn't even aware about existence of AZERTY layout when I was making this game. :D
Nice, but too hard for me. Can't beat the boss. D:
By the way, I fixed my game, now it should run on your PC. Thank you for that report!
Wow, surprisingly one of the most fun games that I've played here!
Nice. BTW, restart button is bugged: after I restarted level, I wasn't able to move water blocks anymore.
Not bad, but checkpoints would be nice.
Also, I found a bug: everytime you land after jump, you move ~2 pixels to the right.
I like the idea and the way you interpreted the theme. Difficulty curve is good, so game is interesting to play from start to end. And I actually managed to finish it (if it's a real end :D)!
It's very basic game, but music is really good.
Well, i managed to copmlete it! By the way, looks like almost all of us have the same problem: we make our games too hard! :D
The game is nice, but I really miss the sounds.
Also, I found a bug: to buy a sphere you need to have at least 11 points. Looks like you placed > instead of >= somewhere.
Nice, but very hard. Single mistake and you're done.
Also, looks like I found a bug: I managed to find the key and the door, but the key disappeared from my inventory when I tried to open it.
And another thing: You can't use that shout sound if you didn't make it. It's against the rules.
Very very nice game I must say! Very long, but still interesting. Finished it.
Nice idea and very good graphics! Sound also feels nice, but the game needs mouse controls.
It's sooo good!
The idea is very good! Sound is also not bad.
Better graphics would be nice. Also, these levels are too easy for me. :D
Very nice game!
This site lacks 'for girls only' flag for games. :D
This game is simple, nifty and interesting to play! I really liked the graphics.
Simple, but very funny and interesting! And graphics is good.
By the way, I fixed my game, now it should run for you. Thanks for commenting.
Wery nice mood!
But I'm unable to get throgh walls of text too.
I thought that I need to waste all my stats to change something, but when I did it, I just stuck with no buttons.
10/10, magnificent!
Can't launch it: "A Java Exception has occurred.". Also, "Web" links are for games that can be played in a browser.
But screenshots look nice. :D
Just amazing.
Can't play it:
Character always aims in the up-left direction (135°), mouse movement does nothing. Also, for some reason, character always goes left, as if `A` is pressed. I can go right if I press `D`, but I can't stand still.
I had similar issues with some old unity games long time ago. I have no idea what's wrong, maybe it's some old controls module from unity which doesn't like my system.
But graphics looks nice and audio is good. :D
Nice. Although, some goal or ending would be good.
By the way, I fixed my game, it should work for you now. Thanks for the comment.
I fixed it, now it should work for everyone.
@Jakob37 >_> My crystal ball is broken, what error exactly?
I have no idea what's wrong. Try to Alt+Enter to windowed mode, maybe it will change something.
As I said in you game comments, the error means that your videodriver or videocard itself is too old. Try to update the driver.
You're completely right!
It was 5 hours before the deadline when I remembered about them. "Oh shit, the theme says *weapon*, but my game don't have any enemies, I need to add them."
Magnificent. xD
Simple, but nice.
Same error.
I can't launch it too, nothing happens when I double click the file.
I like this simple, but nice and stylish graphics!
But for me it was just too easy. :P
A version without installer would be nice.
"A Java Exception has occurred." at startup.
Easy, but very fun game!
This game is very good! Levels are well-designed and interesting to play.
But I don't see any connection with the theme. And graphics feels unpolished.
Nice and nifty! I like the idea with this weapon, despite it's sometimes hard to aim. And graphics is good!
By the way, I fixed my game, it should work for you now. Thanks for the comment.
Very good game! But there are too few checkpoints. :(
This game is so good! And I completed it! :D
Simple, but nice and interesting to play!
By the way, you said that my game stucks with a black screen on you PC. Did that happen when you clicked `New game`? Or you didn't even see main menu?
Short but nifty!
Interesting idea! Very fun to play until difficulty becomes too high. xD
Interesting idea and nice lighting. Nice knowledge system, but I guessed all ultra letters manually. :P
I get `A Java Exception has occured.` with both jars.
Very nicely done! The game feels very good and 'juicy'.
But even more different weapons would be nice. :D
My Avast detects a `Win32:Malware-gen` in your game.
I finally won! Just by accelerating and jumping from a first hill and flying directly to the gate.
Finished it, very nice game!
By the way, you can put (possibly self-compiled) openal32.dll near the .exe instead of asking us to install it.
Despite being small, the game feels completed. Nice! Also, loved 'old monitor' shader.
Nice game and good graphics!
Great game!
Nice!
Nice idea! And I really liked the physics and 'main character'. :D
Very nicely done!
Great game, feels really completed!
Nice theme interpretation.
Nice!
Nice game!
Simple and lacks some polish, but nice! Good job!
Great game, it was really interesting to play! I made it to the end.
It lacks only one tiny thing: digital soul counter or any other way to quckly count them. :D
Nice! But don't get the idea with boy being a monster. :D
Nice!
Both link and player do not work for me. Chrome.
Simple but nice. Good idea. (But gravity is much too fast for me. :D)
Cute and nice, good graphics and 'plot'! :D
BTW, I fixed the camera and some stuff in my game that you've mentioned.
Thanks.
@AdenMansonGames Thanks! Well, spend a few years on it and you will be able to do it too... :D
Thanks! :D
Thanks!
Well, I expected players to imagine lacking parts of the plot themselves. :D This is more interesting that showing every secret.
Pretty nice!
Good game overall.
The yay:
Good sound.
Nice graphics.
Interesting idea with orders of magnitude.
The nay:
No smooth animation.
No backgrounds.
Old gameplay.
Very nice execution and good graphics! But more compex gameplay would be nice. :D
By the way, in the comments to my game you've said that you had some strange bugs. Can you provide more information? When they happen? How?
Ok, thanks! I fixed the camrera and collisions (I think). You can try again if you wish!
Looks nice, but I can't understand what's going on. :D A tutorial would be nice.
Small, but not bad. I would like to see more people to kill.:D
Also you've said in the comments to my game that you don't know how to complete it. You need to kill all 6 aliens on the level to proceed. Maybe you just didn't find someone? And if you're can't get on top of the tower because of spikes, remember that you can do short jumps if you don't hold a jump key.
Small, but not bad. I would like to see more people to kill. :D

I really liked the physics! If I were you, I would made it always auto sprint. :D
BTW, I've fixed the collisions in my game, so you have nothing to complain about. :)
Despite small size and programmer's art (:D), the game feels completed. Good job.
Simple but very nice!
Nice!
Woah! It lacks gameplay, but graphics, sounds and existing mechanics are very good!
Link does not work for me too.
Great idea and nice level design! Graphics is ok.
But you should really improve these physics and collisions.
Simple, but very nicely done!
Jumping and moving code is good, the only minor bug I found is that your vertical velocity is not set to 0 when you hit the top of the map.
I got this:

Nice!
Simple, but not bad.
Great game!
Very nice! But unfinished. :(
Great game!
Can't launch it, getting `This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.`. Windows 7 x64.
This is great!
This. Is. Great!
Most beautiful game I've seen so far!
I already see this winning some good place in the top.
Great! It's good that it has an ending.
Those games are very nifty!
I like the visual style. It's sad that the game is not finished.
Really awesome game!
Idea is good, but it really needs better graphics and especially sound.
Style is great, but you really should make jumps and falls accelerated, instead of keeping Y velocity constant.
Great game! I liked the difficulty curve.
Simple, but good and fun!
The yay:
Holy #$%^, visual and audio quality of this is so high! :O
Actual pixel-perfect graphics on unity! I have not seen this before.
Mood!
Many monsters.
Classes.
The nay:
Fonts are blurry.
There is no goal.
Random levels are often impossible, but audio and visual style of this game are great!
I really liked the idea!
Great! Especially loved visuals.
Ha, this is funny. Sadly there is not too much gameplay.
Simple, but very nice great game!
Nice game! Needs some improvement, but I like it.
Thanks everyone!
The Sun grows, that's where the theme is.
All I can say that it's possible. Maybe try another tactic.
Please provide full error log. Also, what system you're on? What videocard(s)? Have you tried to update videocard driver?
Woah, great! Insanely hard, but it's good!
Nice! But why controls are so weird?
Simple but fun! Idea is nice.
A bit more difference between level would be great.
By the way, in the comments yo my game you said that you got a crash. Please provide full error log. Also, what system you're on? What videocard(s)? Have you tried to update videocard driver?
Very nice! Graphics is ok, audio is good.
Link is 404.
That's what I call a GREAT game!
This one has the BEST mood I've seen so far. It makes me think about life and choices.
The music is very nice and suits well. And graphics is also very impressive!
I like the idea! Once you understand how it works, it becomes an interesting game.
The only thing I would add is some more difference between the levels.
By the way, in comments to my game you said that you stuck on a level. Recently I made a walkthrough, because want people to see my entire game, not only a first levels. Check it out if you want.
Great game!
First of all, you should really find a better file storage. Current one is veeery slow.
Visual style is nice. Enemy and player sprites need improvement; projectiles, speakers and backgound are great.
A better gameplay would be nice, because now I can just stay and dothing after getting the first level.
Also, I really liked the sound design, the fact that music gets more complex when you collect bonuses.
By the way, in comments to my game you said that you stuck on a level. Recently I made a walkthrough, because want people to see my entire game, not only a first levels. Check it out if you want.
Ha ha, great! I really liked all those acid shaders!
Same, 404.
Not bad. Small and funny.
A bit more overall quality would be nice.
(BTW, I replied to your comment on my game.)
Very nice! Good graphics and interesting music.
I like how you put everything a medroidvania needs into a such simple game.
And I found the secret ending.
My Avast antivirus complains about this.
Simple yet nice game. Movement and hand animations are GREAT.
Overall quality is nice too.
The only bad thing is that when you press both keys you always move left. This makes the game noticeably less fun.
Funny and clevel little game.
Simple, but has very good gameplay.
The only thing you need to fix is block attachment system, it's slightly glitchy.
Nice! But too easy. :D
I really liked the audio and visual design!
Wow, I call that theme usage CLEVER. Representing a kid as an astronaut is a great idea. Mood and audio are great too!
The only things you need to fix are death conditions: I couldn't die whatever I did.
More polish would be nice, especially for controls. And it's sad that there is no sound.
Apart of that, idea and visual style are great!
Also, where is the second button? I see "One button controls" here. :D
Nice concept! And I really liked the visual style. Graphics are simple, but look nice. Music is ok.
Unfortunately, I'm not so good at it, too hard for me. And I was unable to understand how to rotate guns properly, both of them only rotated CCW for me.
Overall, good job.
By the way, in comments to my game you said that you stuck on a level. Recently I made a walkthrough, because want people to see my entire game, not only a first levels. Check it out if you want.
404/
Very nice game!
Ha, small fun game!
Wow, gameplay is great for this type of game! I really like attraction mechanic. Also, his face looks very funny. :D
Not a bad game. Graphics are good and funny. But it's too easy for me. :)
Can't run this, just got gray screen.
Nice game.
Audio is slightly annoying, but visual style is great!
Also, it would be nice if new colors were unlocked faster.
The game is slightly glitchy, but idea is nice and gameplay is good.
Great!
Great idea and gameplay!
Idea is very nice, but technical execution is not so good.
Ha! Great game once again! I like how you made it very smooth and polished using only with very simple graphics.
Also, so many levels! :O
By the way, I found one tiny bug: Bats sometimes can stuck in the bottom window border if it's pinned and they hit it.
Also, I have a question: On some level real window moves and resizes with ingame one, but on other levels real window remains big and fixed, only ingame window moves inside. Bug or intended?
:O
Well, this was amasing! This game has the best mood I've seen on this LD.
Graphics is also excellent!
Sounds are good too.
I like how you adapted the designs to make them require different instruments, but I was able to make everything I needed with only one tool, the stick. :P
Btw, I've found one tiny graphical bug: the 'tools' button remains stuck if you press it and then move mouse to the left.
Again, I'm amazed by this game. It shows why you need a team to make something big. No one would be able to make this solo in such a short time and with such quality. Nice job!
dx10 build crashes at my system: http://i.imgur.com/JozqmhI.png
dx 11 worked for me. The graphics is nice, but gameplay is hard and seems to be pretty much luck-based.
At first time hard to understand, but then it becomes interesting. Great idea!
The only thing that I don't like is the lack of checkpoints! :c
This definitely has potential, but without a proper GUI and a tutorial (some advices on tactic) it's very hard do play.
Graphics is so cool tho!
Hard, but nice little game!
I'd prefer different controls though. I'd make cursor visible and make it so that shape rotation is based on how the cursor is placed relative to the center.
Pretty nice runner.
I really like the idea!
But it's a shame that sometimes random levels are impossible to complete.
Oops, sorry, I haven't figured out that I can double-jump. Ignore my previous comment.
After I understood this, it became very fun!
Btw, Wizard laugh is great. :D
Nice job!
I really like the idea!
And you're already preparing for a commercial release...
Nice game!
Graphics is pretty good. Despite being too simple, it definitely has some nice style in it. Also, that shader effect on taking damage was fancy.
Sound is ok, but it could be heavily improved. I think it would sound a lot better if you would remove all high-pitched noises from effects using equalizer in Audacity or something similar.
Also, as others have mentioned, some checkpoints would be nice.
Good job overall!
Great game!
Sadly, there was no other players, so I had to open to instances and play solo.
Anyway this is a nice game, I really liked the mood that you've managed to make.
Also, I got that reference to a russian lullaby in the title.
First of all, the idea is great! It was kinda hard, but I've completed a few levels and it was fun.
I really appreciate that you've made some some kind of learning curve, but the game was still hard.
Exceptional difficulty makes it less fun.
I understand that you made it interesting for yourself, but whenever you make a game, almost always your players will be surprisingly unskilled at it from your point of view.
You're the developer, you're always going to be one of the best players in your own game.
Let me tell you about my game as an example: I'm (almost) not hardcore platformer player, but I'm able to complete all 15 levels with 3-6 death with little efforts. On the other hand, my players were often unable to finish. One of them who actually did, said that he got ~80 deaths. And that's expected result, I think other players got similar scores.
This should give you an idea on how better you are at your game than your players.
This is some ideas on how you can make it more player-friendly: You can, for example, spawn multiple boxes and let players freely place and destroy machines; remove 1 box limit, but add time limit. But that may sound too easy. If you don't want it to be that easy, you can at least add few seconds of delay before the box starts moving; this would allow players to think and to start placing machines before the box moves.
But, don't worry about this too much. The game is still fun to play and pretty unique. Good job.
Decent little game.
I really liked the beginning of music, btw.
What a funny game, lol. It would be nice even without the hints on top.
Effects vere 'a bit' trippy, but nice game overall.
I really like the idea! Funny sounds were nice as well.
It's a shame that sound from first transformation was not repeated on the next ones. :D
Unfortunately, I was unable to get it past 2nd platform, I always lose at the 3rd transformation. I don't like that the planks are so thin. It would be ok, but contols glich out a lot when you hit a wall, so you must move on the edge, which makes game a lot harder that it should be.
Good job overall.
P.S. To all of those who didn't understood the game: Well, you guys should read the description. The mage transforms you into a ball once in a while. To survive, you need to stand on flat platforms when it happens.
Controls work a bit stange on fruit sides.
And bit more challenge would be nice.
But graphics are great and that worm it's the cutiest thing ever!
I really like the idea, but in my opinion this game needs poper controls instead of a single button.
What a funny game!
The idea is nice, but voice acting was unpleasant.
You could polish it a bit more.
Overall, the game is ok.
@FloatingGhost @Tharky
It's nice to hear that you've liked it. C:
@cheesewhiz999 I'm not sure why that happened. I tweaked my code a bit, try again please.
Thanks @everyone for the kind words! I'm happy to see that fellow developers seem to like my game. C:
@Timeshapers Ha ha, well, there are 2 planes. It can shoot you through wall on one of the planes if there is a free space in same place on another plane. :D
@Pontifex @cheesewhiz999 I think I've found and fixed the issue. Try again please.
@Pontifex Well, crap. But I think I have an idea. Try to launch the game with following command-line arguments
--windowed --no-maximize
Use a windows comsole or a bat file to do it.
If it wont help, then I have no idea what will.
It's geforce gtx 750 ti. I have no clue what's wrong then. If you get any idea, you can find me in skype (login: iamsupermouse) or at [email protected] . Let's stop filling comments with discussion. :)
Oh wow. Thanks a lot, I'll do that and upload new version in a moment.
Yep, uploaded!
If updating drivers does not help, I can do nothing. Fancy effects that I've used require at least OpenGL 3.
Ok guys, we all know that this will get one of the best results.
I'm seriously amazed right now. The thing is HUGE. You've managed to make full-blown game in such a short time. Which proves that a professional team is always better than a professional solo developer. All animations, models and effects are nice, the world is big and interesting. And gameplay is pretty good, I like how you made the track in a such way that requires both flying and running. Music is good too!
Great job!
Very nice game!
Btw, when I change zoom, it's not centered properly. I think, you should fix that.
Ha, what a great funny game. xD
Everything works fine for me.
The idea is nice, but the game is too easy. It would be fun if player would get +1 box after every wall and if walls would move quicker. Also, a button to instantly move to the next wall would be nice.
The nice visual style, levels and some of the enemies remind me of 'Kirby's adventure' from NES, which was one of my favorite games once. Some parts of the gameplay look similar to ones from 'Megaman'. Reminds me a lot about the old days, even though it looks slightly *too* similar to those old games: sky city, cannons, birds and some enemies, landscape style from Kirby, health bar and menu screen from megaman. Could be polished a bit more, but anyway nice work on the style!
The only thing in visuals that I would change is flickering sprites. At least I would lower flickering frequency to 10-30 hz, if not remove this effect completely.
The character speech felt redundant, but that's ok.
What I didn't like is that the game felt slightly repetitive and definitely less challenging than needed. I would make the gameplay more fast-paced. Maybe, Maybe make enemies die from a single shot? Or make them take large knockback on hit? Faster and more long-range weapon maybe?
Anyway, good job overall, this looks good even if it's unfinished!
I've just made it to level 22.
And well, this is seriously good! You've made one of the most interesting mechanics on this LD.
Visuals are good and puzzles were really nice.
The music sets the mood really well (although, it get's repetitive after a while, but maybe it's just me).
Also, I really liked fancy rain effects and funny movement animation.
My only suggestion would be adding more visual differences between the levels, but the game is amasing even as it is.
Great job!
Nope, sadly mingw-w64 does not work, it lacks proper libraries.
It would be nice if you would make a windows version for us.
Btw, RedPanda is wrong. The rules no longer say that you need to share your engine before the compo.
Nice game. It was hard to reveal the truth on the first playthrough, but after 3 games it became clear that the 1st Mary is the real one. Good job!
Ha-ha, this is amazing! These cats are incredibly cute!
Controls felt weird sometimes, but maybe that's just me.
My personal best are astonishing 3 boxes in a row. :P
Nice one, finished all ten levels.
Some instructions at the beginning would be nice.
Nice game! I like how your ship is being upgraded when you kill a lot of enemies, and downgraded with you get hit.
Good job!
Btw, looks like you've messed up with the matrices somewhere, because player sprite is always stretched horizontally.
Isn't it possible to make a standalone executable?
Nice little game!
Btw, if you press I, you get transformed into an eagle even if you didn't get the powerup. And the you won't be able to land and transform back.
Even though the combat system needs a more polishing, the game is still pretty nice. Congrats on finishing it!
Btw, I've found a single tiny bug: When you open "options" menu and click "apply" for the first time without touching anything, the volume still changes.
Graphics is nice, but where is the theme?
By the way, it's possible to give away more fish than you get, resulting in negative income, lol.
* Game starts *
"Well, this requires some serious skill. I guess it's ok."
...
"Looks like I'm pretty much dead."
* Shapeshifted *
"Wow, second chance? Nice idea."
* Shapeshifted again *
"SHOOP DA WHOOP"
* Shapeshifted again *
"Seriously? Nope, I'm done"
* Finally died *
xD
Jokes aside. The graphics was nice. Music is good to. Good job!
Nice little game, music fits it really well.
Actually, graphics in this is pretty nice.
Woo, great game!
Great game!
I like the idea, but it feels slightly buggy.
It's sad that there is no windows port.
Decent little game. Nice, but needs polishing.
Also, looks like you've messed up character hitbox.
Btw, bouncy damage indicators were nifty.
The game seems like a small decent platformer.
But there were few issues:
First, controls: You know, people have different layouts, and AZERTY is definitely not the most popular one. You should bind controls to key *locations*, not letters. Unity surely has such feature.
If it's too hard to code, at least bind controls to arrow keys.
Second, no controls in mid-air. While this is physically-correct, it makes game too hard. It's usually a bad choice for a platformer.
Third, it's barely connected with the theme. Animations do not count.
But levels actually were nice.
Good job, but there is a huge room for improvement.
Nice game!
But it's sad that the plane can't fly any decent distance.
Ok, I've just finished it!
First of all, the graphics is AMASING. It's one of the best I've seen on this LD, if not the best.
I really liked the mood and the story. Music was nice too.
The level was interesting enough.
Lack of sound effects and HP indicator is a shame, but the game is ok even without them.
I found only one small bug: ferret hitbox is too wide on the left side.
The combat system is interesting, it kinda reminds me of the old Prince of Persia for NES, but imho it could be polished a bit more. First of all, damage on contact feels strange, but maybe that's just me. Then, with current system it's wise to always fight while ducking, which is a shame. In my opinion, it would be better if "upper" arrows and sword hits would still damage you even while you're ducking. If would make ducking and standing positions equal, kinda how it was is PoP.
Regardless of what I've said, it's still a great game, one of the best on this Ludum Dare.
Good job!
What a funny game! But where is the theme?
The graphics is really great!
I don't get what happened with grey copy of the wizard at the end though.
Music and sounds are nice, but I wish music was a bit louder.
Very nice job overall.
Btw, you have a misspelling: `Sometimes it ends padly`.
Looks nice, but how do I play? I press space and then I just stuck in this position: http://i.imgur.com/VksZ4Ur.png
The intro is GREAT, lol! Graphics feels nice to.
Movements in enemy forms are a a bii too slow in my opinion.
Also, it's 2 hard 4 me even on easy mode. :c If you like it to be so had, at least make a checkpoint at a start of every level.
Nice game! But some persistent hints about buttons for colors and shapes would be nice.
Funny little game!
Ha, I won and only then realized that I can not only shift blocks, but also move my character. Nice game!
Some run instructions would be nice.
Very nicely done1
I really like this one.
The idea is pretty interesting.
The design is nice despite being minimalistic. It's very well polished. I especially liked shape shifting animations.
Audio was good too.
But of course, there is a room for improvement.
I personally would like to see more "juice" in the game. Maybe, start the game with calm music and slow speed, and then gradually increase the speed (more notable than now) while making the music more energetic and complex and making background more flashy and fancy.
Overall, great job!
Background space is great!
I like the idea. It's nice how game detects how good your spell was.
It's sad that it is unfinished.
This is a funny little game, but there is a large room for polishing and balancing.
Wow, you've made a great game!
I really like mario reference, as well as interesting puzzle gameplay and nice graphics.
Sounds were ok, but some of them (snake and princess movement) were a bit unnatural. I suggest you to get a sound editor like Audacity and try to use the equalizer to cut high frequencies from some of the sounds. This should make them a lot better and pleasant to hear, especially this would help for noisy snake movement.
Btw, i'd make starting cell non-solid and act like normal floor. It just feels weird that I can't walk over it.
I've mentioned some things to be (in my opinion) improved, but they are tiny compared to all the nice things that the game has.
This is one of the few games out there that are interesting from the start to the very end.
Great job!
There is not too much gameplay, but it is very funny!
Nice job!
Idea is nice and levels are good.
Also, that 8-bit background music was nice.
But it became too hard for me too quickly. :P
Btw, if comments to my game you said that you got a error. I don't actually know what's wrong, but I tweaked my game a bit. It may work for you now. Try again if you want.
Hello again. Another guy with same crash of my game as you found a solution. Can you try the updated version please?
The idea is great!
But controls are glitchy and unhandy.
The graphics was VERY nice. The setting is also amazing, and so is the mood.
Once I figured out controls, the game became interesting.
But a tutorial would be nice. At least, add the controls to game description. Lost of people seem to be confused about them.
Also, make camera float ahead of character, so players can see enemies before it's too late.
Good job overall. Again, graphics is amasing.
Btw, what the left building does?
P.S.
@confused_people HERE ARE THE CONTROLS
* WASD/Arrows - move.
* Space - jump.
* Right mouse button (hold) - raise your gun (aim with mouse).
While holding RMB you can:
* Left mouse button - shoot.
* E - mind-control an enemy (only when you aimed your gun at him).
The idea is very nice, but controls made it very hard to play. It was almost impossible to jump upwards through a hole, because I could not tell from where I need to jump. As others said, you really need to lock movement to one plane (disable changing Z coordinate). It would remove the issue. Another option is place the light source exatly on top, so players could use shadows to see from where they need to jump.
Also, it looks kinda impolite to advertise your game in comments to another games. I've seen your comments on other games twice, and they both contained "plz play my game here: http://ludumdare.com/blahblah".
It would be nice to have a version without installator...
Wow, great game!
I liked the graphics. Even this simple visual style (which in other games often seems unprofessional) fits this game very well. Music was also very nice.
And gameplay is good too! Boss battles were mostly interesting.
Decent little game, why not. Btw, rules allow you to fix bugs, you can fix them after deadline.
Nothing too special about gameplay, but the graphics was amasing!
Ha, this was super cool!
It is hard at the beginning, but then it becomes fun.
Great game, fun & humor 11/10.
On my default 80-symbols-wide console your graphics is broken, so I couldn't play.
I really like the innovative idea and the fact that there are lots of levels.
Some of them were really smart!
But the game itself definitely needs some polishing and some bugs need to be fixed:
Better graphics/textures would be nice.
Audio needs polishing too, especially the music which gets repetitive after a while.
The game lags, especially when fast-forwarding.
And currently it's very hard to aim the ball:
White ring that shows the throw power is very hard to see because of the decorative animated rings.
Also, I have some bug reports for you:
Sometimes current level renders on top of the gui.
Edges of the gui were cut off on my resolution (1680x1050).
Moving objects on some levels are glitchy (the ball ricocheted incorrectly off a horisontally moving block; also on a level with downwards moving platform on which you need to shoot quickly before balls get into the pit, after the platform stops, it starts to vibrate, sometimes making finishing the level impossible, because the balls never stop).
Also, the power indicator ring behaves strangely (especially when shooting downwards).
And some feature requests:
It's very hard to aim, thus it would be nice to get some visual hints. I see two options: First, you can always show the player a fly arc of a previous throw plus a power and the direction they had used; second, when player drags a ball to shoot it, you can dynamically calculate a fly arc that it will take and show it to the player.
Also, as it is now, power and direction indicators are a bit inaccurate. The throw power and direction depends on where you press the button and where you release the button. It is inconvenient (at least to me) because the cursor position does not match the intersection of the direction indicator arrow and power indicator ring when you start moving your mouse not from the center of the ball. (It's a bit hard to explain. :c) I see 2 options for an easy fix: You can draw a ghost ball under player's cursor; or you can (which is better) don't take into account the point at which the player had started dragging the ball, instead always use the center of the ball as a starting point (optionally, plus the ghost ball under the cursor).
And of course, more features and more interesting levels!
I'm sorry for this wall of text. :P
Don't be upset about the bug reports.
Actually, the game is good. Polish it a bit, fix some bugs, and you're ready to release this on the mobile.
Nice job overall!
Pretty good game, I like how you implemented hammer mechanics.
Visual style was pretty funny.
Sadly, controls bugged on me and rock always moved upwards. I was able to hold it still by constantly holding down arrow and I even finished first level this way.
By the way, in comments to my game you said that you got a crash. I think I've found the issue and I tweaked the code a bit, can you try again, please?
Great little game.
Can we get a version without installer, please?
I think you should pack a proper build. It's weird that I need to download 3 different resource archives separately (from a very slow hosting, btw).
I really like the idea!
It's nice that it's not obvious what form to choose.
Also, shape shifting animation was good.
Any decent sound effects would make the game a lot better, but anyway, good job overall!
Nice game, but, well, "2hard4me" (c). :P
(Oh by the way, you said that you were stuck on a specific level in my game. You're not the only one, so I added a hint in the description if you wish to try again.)
Simple but nice game, good job.
This is hilarious. :D
I really like the visual style and overall amount of polish. You did a nice game!
Re: "Hahahaha amount of Polish !? Plz tell me what you mean by that :D"
Sorry, not a native speaker. ._. I mean I'm amased by how polished this game is.
Nice game!
But the connection to the theme seems very faint.
I really like the idea.
Oh wow! :O
Good job sir, as always. That idea is something completely new.
My crystal ball says that you'll get #1 in innovation, or at least very close to it.
Thanks for the kind words everyone. C:
@EtherealPsycheGames
Yeah, you're right. You are not the first person who told me this. :S
This is not a best gameplay decision, but I really wanted to give a player the feeling that if they die, they wake up.
You made some great music!
Retro graphics felt good too.
The link is broken!
Pretty nice game. Good job!
I really liked that you can tactically push your enemies around before starting. :P
The game is simple but feels nice and smooth. But where is the theme?
Oh, got it.
(By the way, you said that you got stuck on a specific level in my game. You're not the only person who were stuck on that, so I've added some explanations in the description.)
This is a good game. Visuals are nice.
But there is a problem that no one seemed to notice yet: you can't die in this game, lol.
Also, you have some tiny graphical bugs: 1) the altar appears above projectiles and player, and 2) player sprite is displaced by a sub-pixel offsets, which makes it blurry.
Great visuals!
I like how the dots can sometimes push you around.
Nice, but needs some polishment. I really like the music!
Nice job, I really like difficulty curve.
You managed to create a nice interesting mood, good job!
Same, the link is broken. ;_;
I really like the idea and graphics is nice, but it's sad that when I press "add planet" the amount of objects always doubles (lol).
Just FYI, you're allowed to fix bugs post-LD, so I suggest you to fix the bugs in LD edition too.
Woah, you managed to create a full-blown old school RPG which actually looks pretty in such short time!
This is one of the smoothest and definitely the cutiest game I've seen on this LD! :O
Nice job. It lacks sounds and proper graphics, has some bugs, but feels pretty good for such a small game.
@willdata That's one of the hardest parts. You need to destroy the diamonds first.
@pablodap Huh. So you couldn't even die to reset? Can you provide a screenshot of where exactly?
I thought I accounted for most possibilities. You can get stuck only if you deliberately ignore a checkpoint, run forward, mess up, and then go back to save. I don't think it happened to you.
@nofuel Ha! You didn't shoot long enough. FYI, that's not the end of the game. It's close to a half.
@pablodab Phew! Thanks for kind words btw. c:
:o Those scores tho!
10 out of 10, this is the funniest thing I've seen on this LD. And the music is good.
I'm in love with graphics, but this is so hard. :o
Really liked the funny sounds and the FoV implementation (especially respectable since it's your own engine).
Not a big game, but definitely has nice style! I like it.
What would be nice if the double jump would recharge in midair after killing an enemy,
(P.S. In comments to my game you said you've stuck on the boss. Probably you didn't shoot long enough, sorry. :P And that's not the end of the game, more like a half of it.)
A great game! Noticed it on a @elysiagriffin stream.
I really like this one. Graphics and audio are pretty nice!
Congrats on making a more or less complete game!
It's playable, but lacks death condition and the VERY loud sound when you start a game is VERY annoying since you have to restart every time you fall. And the windows refuses to remember the volume settings.
Same...
Despite not so polished graphics, this actually has some style.
Got a malware alert too (using Avast).
Controls felt sliglthly weird, but I really like the visual style and music!
The idea to use the eye as health indicator is clever. (I wish enemies wouldn't kill me instantly though :P)
Level design is good, but it was a bit too hard for me, but I'm not the one to complain, my game is no easy too.
P.S. Good sir @pablodap, in comments to my game you said there was a problem with it. I'm not sure if notifications are working, but I wrote a reply.
I really liked the graphics, especially particles and camera movement. :o Nice job.
Not sure where's the theme, but oh well.
@hoogmin The idea was that the more boxes/keys you collect, the harder it is to control the ship.
Thanks for the feedback :P
@sbeif Initially I had more boxes, but since people usually find my games too hard I lowered the amount.
I prefer not to opt out of anything and don't mind getting a low score in humor.
@krassenstein Come on. :P You were supposed to make a stick out of blocks and get the key.
I really like the idea, nice job.
This is hilarious, I like it! xD
The idea is interesting and fits the theme well.
Great game!
It's possible to achieve sustained flight by putting treasure under your feet, but I consider that a feature.
First of all, nice reference in the title. :P I liked how simple sketchy models worked with posing and fancy camera angles, programmers' art at it's best lol. The music was good. I only wish difficulty would increase faster.
Nice one, finished it.
I really like the graphics and mood, but for some reason shooting at bunkers wouldn't disable them.
Or maybe I wasn't aiming good enough. :P
Very nice game, with good visuals and audio. I liked the level design.
There is a bug though, the edges of the screen are clipped on low resolutions, making it impossible to see the gui and parts of the level.
Nice, an interesting game for sure. Killed everyone and finished it. >:3
I missed a damage sound for the boss, it wasn't clear that I could actually damage him.
An installer-less version would be nice...
Thanks! A nice little game indeed.
A neat little game! Got 168.
:D Nice one, fits the theme well.
A nice solid game! Liked the nice particle effects and obviously the fancy music.
Really impressive stylish game. I only wish enemies would have guns, otherwise it's too easy. :P
You did great my friend! Everything is on point: gameplay, graphics, music, level design...
@mitsu-artemius Of course it is. :P
-del-
@dries-vuylsteke Ye, it turned out a bit harder than necessary. It's C++&OpenGL, with a custom engine.
@truc-e @dagoret Dang. I'm looking into it but I have no clue what's wrong. Can you tell me more about your systems? Which OS, which videocard vendor? If you want to bother, maybe try updating video drivers...
@elodeon @truc-e @dagoret It took some time, but I've fixed it. It should work now.
@truc-e Thanks for the kind words. :) Also thanks for helping me debug the thing.
@endurion @shp Thanks!
"I’d wish for having mouse look to aim" I'd say that's a part of the challenge.
@the-shadermaster Huh. What bindings would you prefer? I thought ZX(CV)+Arrows is a pretty standard configuration, what's so bad about it?
@eclahn Ah thanks! You were almost done, you just needed to break the two orbs, and then finish the boss himself.
@wildcard Thanks!
> How did you get this done
A simple 'engine' was prepared beforehand. Otherwise I'd have no chance.
> Control scheme
Mouse aim is not happening, I specifically wanted the added challenge of keyboard aim. :P
You're not the only one who complained about Z and X. Which keys would you prefer instead?
@randomphantom Thanks!
> not sure how it fits the theme
Ugh. The size of the light circle decreases as the fight progresses, and since darkness is deadly, you have less space to fight.
@ursagames Thanks! c: I missed that stream unfortunately, but watched your playthrough a few days after. It was really enjoyable to see *you* enjoying the game and struggling your way through it.
A very solid entry! I've managed to get 196 in the first attempt. :P
The guitar music was a nice addition.
It's one of the best games I've seem on this LD so far, great job!
That's some nice character art and dialogues.
Since I've made a boss fight game too, I decided I just have to beat this. :P And I did.
It looks pretty stylish, and the music is good! And I liked the boss moves.
My only complaint would be the slightly cheap laser hitbox, which requires you to time your jumps very carefully.
I've really liked the style too!
That's some interesting aesthetics.
I've spend more time than I'd like to admit exploring the dialogue paths. :P
An interesting nice game overall.
PS: In comments to my game you said it didn’t work properly for you. If you’re willing to assist and have some free time, you can help immensely by contacting me (on discord: HolyBlackCat#7530, or somewhere else) and running a few test programs for me.
Those sounds though, love them. :P
That's some good aesthetics! And the idea is good too.
I got stuck on a level with 4 moving cubes, since I just couldn't fit into the hole.
That's some interesting movement mechanic. Nice job!
Well that's addicting! I got to Jupiter, and probably would've continued if there were more upgrades after the guns.
The only thing I feel like was missing is a visual jetpack fuel indicator.
@ryzy27 "Lots of time", huh? :P It was done in a hurry, I think I threw together the second half of the map in the last hour before the deadline.
Glad you liked it though.
@lucien-catonnet Thanks for the kind words! The gems were checkpoints by the way.
Ok guys, we have a winner in 'Audio' right there. In the 5 years I've been doing LDs, I don't think I've seen a game with music & sound effects this good.
Graphics & gameplay are also on point.
If you don't mind me asking, what tools did you make this with?
What a game! It immediately gave me flashbacks to good old times when I was playing NES as kid. I'm impressed by the amount of content you've managed to put in.
There were some small issues, e.g. thin lines appearing between tiles when moving, and other stuff mentioned in comments above.
The graphics is impressive, and the music sounds good. Working with a team pays off, doesn't it? :P The gameplay is a tiny bit slow, but that's a part of the NES aesthetic.
I've not finished it yet; I got stuck trying to figure out how to bomb that rock blocking a passage (exploding a bomb near it did nothing?), but I'll definitely return to it.
It doesn't load for me as well. In the browser console it says `uncaught exception: abort(101). Build with -s ASSERTIONS=1 for more info.`.
@shared The executable works! @appoxgames Simply click the `>>` button on the dialogue?
Despite the simple graphics, the game felt very solid. The gameplay is good! The only thing I missed is an indication in which direction/how far a tower shoots *before* placing it.
I also found some minor bugs, like bullets colliding with each other and being able to place towers on top of each other.
I liked the graphics, and it looked like there is some deep lore going on. :P I've reached the 'chat in alien language' thing, and I wasn't sure what to do next. Repeating the messages I got didn't seem to do anything. I assume that's the end of the game?..
3 GB is a lot. :/
That's some great music!
It's impressive that you've managed to make a full-fledged game (with powerups, unlockable characters, and what not) in just 3 days!
The gameplay is a tiny bit repetitive though.
Great job on the level design! You've managed to come up with a lot of interesting puzzles based on a very simple game mecahnic.
My only complaint is lack of fullscreen mode.
There isn't much gameplay, but the ending sequence was impressive! :P
@jk5000 @xcvzxc Thank you!
Level 12 relies on an unconventional use of bombs. Try bombing something other than dirt.
@xcvzxc 17 in total.
@xpycm Thanks. I agree, should've called it "Press and watch". :P
@hamzaplayssssssssss @kubbl Hard do say anything without seeing the error messages. [Virustotal](https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/84207683fdae0a0b4030f2e97598062aed5dd8251c12c5a3747c46a40da5b997/detection) sees no malware here.
The warning could be caused by the file being uncommon (you being the first of the few persons to download it).
@vectrex28 Thanks. c: In that level, the exit is not where you think it is.
@ehtd Thanks. Hmm... It gets disabled when you're partially in a pipe. Maybe you clicked it just as you exited the pipe?
@tjm Thanks! Eh, apparently #8 confused a lot of people. The exit is in an unusual place there, I did my best to hint at where it is though.
@pipotchi Thank you. Yeah, I even though about making a new build with the crack, but decided it's probably best to leave it as it is.
@jimbly Thanks for playing! c:
@strangeryann The exit was in the recess in the bottom pipe, at the left. Yep, I got some complaints about that level. Should've marked the true exit with a small crack or something.
@f1krazy Thanks! Good job on figuring out level 8.
Insanely ambitious graphics! You've paid for it with a general lack of polish though. :P
A simple but solid game. Great music!
The ship is obnoxious to control, but I guess that's the point. :P
An installer-less version would be nice.
Great visuals! But felt somewhat hard for me.
Nice!
Nice graphics! Agree with the first comment.
The sound of deflecting a ball was too loud for me, maybe it's no scaled by the volume? Also I found a bug: you can heal after dying.
Strangely addicting. Screaming cat sounds were hilarious.
I wish there was some punishment for getting the minigames wrong (one of them can be just spammed to completion, and in the other you can try as long as you need to without any penalty).
Bought all upgrades and got to the very bottom.
NICE. Finished it twice just to see both endings.
Not sure how it's related to the theme.
Liked the style! The game felt decently polished, except for the camera zoom that was constantly & quickly changing, which is my biggest complaint.
You managed to put a lot of functions into a single button, but a separate jump button would be useful.
The asteroids are pitch-black for me, so the game is hardly playable. The flying creatures look great though! The camera was too slow for my taste too.
The problem might be caused by me being on Linux and using Wine.
Love the glitchy jank aesthetic. :D If only there was more gameplay.
The movements felt great! Loved the idea of enemies chewing off your tentacles.
@johnnysix There's a torch behind the middle spike. :) You can reach it before everything burns down and the spike falls on top of it.
@pixelydian In my defence, the first level has "hold to jump higher" hint, which isn't supposed to go away until you perform a max size jump. :P
Though apparently there is a bug that makes the message disappear if you regrab the jump button while falling.
I'll add it to the game description, just in case.
@jakobthequizguy Thanks! c: The lack of sound effects is weird, they should be there, along with some simple ambient.
@hori Thanks! The music is there, it's just quiet. :P
Great game! I feel it has some speedrunning potential: some levels can be skipped with careful long jumps. :P
Realy like the graphics, and how the game feels!
A but more difficulty would be nice.
Found a few minor problems: The cheese counter is not incremented on level 1. The cheese is preserved between runs, unsure if intentional. Also, when playing in browser, mouse wheel scrolls the whole page, and I didn't find any other way to scroll the weapon list.
NICE. The last level took me a while.
This game is almost perfect, I think we have a winner. :o
Hah, thought this for spam for a second.
Nice game! Liked the grapple playground at the end. The energy system felt a bit weird.
I like the idea, and the music is decent.
Unsure what the "drop" key is for. Was confused by what "plutoniums left" means, eventually realized it was health.
Oh. I see. :)
Nice little game. Level 2 got me too.
The death animation felt a little too long.
The screenshots look interesting, but the game doesn't load for me. Tried waiting several minutes on the loading screen, to no avail. ;-;
A downloadable build would be nice.
Yup, works now. Nice game!
Got stuck trying to save the kitten on top of the black shelf. I can get the kitten, but can't run to the shelves on the right fast enough.
Would've been easier if I could jump onto something while being directly in front of it, rather than having to judge the distance. :P
Well yeah, this couldn't be any more unstable. :P From physics, wheels randomly clipping into the terrain, to camera angles. I think you went a little overboard, and I kept wondering how much of this was actually intended.
It was manageable until that swaying bridge, but I couldn't get over it.
Great job!
Nice short game. I don't think I've seen this camera perspective in any game before.
Liked the gameplay, but the chromatic aberration/bloom felt a bit excessive. :P
The game had nice visual style, and the music is quite good.
Platforming physics felt weird:
* The horizontal movement is floaty, but you get used to it (faster acceleration/deceleration with the same top speed would help). * You don't zero the vertical speed when player touches ceiling/floor, causing them to stick to the ceiling when jumping, and to immediately gain downwards velocity when walking off of platforms respectively. * The character tends to randomly get stuck when gliding on the ceiling, and when jumping right next to obstacles. * Min jump height is too high for my taste, it barely differs from max height.
The random sawblades felt unfair. D:< They fit the theme, but some indication of where they are going to fall would help a lot. They make some screens nearly impossible, e.g. that one screen near the beginning where you start in a long corridor in the upper part of the screen.
There were some minor problems with level design. Some screens had off-screen walls/spikes, and one screen respawned me right above some spikes.
Wasn't able to run it because it's a debug build (IIRC you need to have Visual Studio installed to run those). Suggest making a release build.
Could've compiled it myself, but the engine code is missing. :/
Not to play rules police, but if you don't want to share your engine, consider submitting to jam instead of compo.
The new build works, thanks! Ended up with a score of 16. Respect for using your own engine, even if things don't go smoothly. :P
The debug dlls you were missing are required by `freetype.dll`. So maybe you built freetype in debug mode?
Also I'm getting minor graphical glitches on top of the player:
1.png
The "go back" button didn't work for me on the linux version.
It worked when I ran the windows version using Wine, but then I had horrible FPS and no sound.
Nice! Loved the various sound effects with unique camera movements.
1.png
I noticed that if you don't move the mouse long enough, the camera starts vibrating. Unsure if this simulates shaking hands, or is just wonky math. :P
@bangthewall Thanks!
It didn't occur to me that doublejumps were so easy to do :face_palm: I'll at least patch out infinite jumps.
@rottenthunder997 :) Yes, this one: https://github.com/HolyBlackCat/imp-re
@peter-ondus Thanks! The idea with the theme was delaying the rising lava with time travel, or something like that.
@jeremy-ryan Thanks for the detailed feedback, and for talking time to do 100% completion. :)
Agree about the spikes, should've used a different color.
The lag after rewind is intentional. Otherwise resuming time at full speed (after it gradually slows down to 0 after you release the button) felt disorienting, since you can't tell when exactly it'll happen. I guess it wouldn't be an issue if time resumed immediately after releasing Z (without the gradual slowdown; but then it's harder to precisely select the time), or if I added a separate hotkey to resume time.
@arya-s The one time I neglected the camera, I get called out on it. :D Thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked it.
@studio-vykanic Yep, this is the first time I'm making a web build, and this is a custom engine  Did you get any errors?
@jeremy-ryan @arya-s Thanks. c:
Congrats on the second place to you too @jeremy-ryan
Dude! This game is **glorious**! Definitely the best game I've seen this LD, might be the best one in all my 16 LDs.
I've got to floor 8 so far, and will definitely continue playing.
You also have my utmost respect for making this in what appears to be a custom C++ engine (as I'm a C++&custom-engine guy myself).
I'll be waiting for the engine release, and any of your future games.
1.png
Nice-looking black hole! How the heck do you get the good ending though? D:
I only found a "secret" bad ending.
Crashes a second after opening the main menu. I'm on Linux and tried to run the Windows build with Wine.
That tongue cheese grab though. :P
This has to be the second-best game on this jam! :P I'm getting Attack on Titan and Factorio vibes.
Managed to clear most of the map and win. Didn't experience any lag in the web version.
The only thing that threw me off a bit is that having < 3 orbs had only negative effects, so I just delayed getting them until I controlled most of the map.
Really dig the style. The game is quite unforgiving, I've had 4.4 miles remaining on my best run, and had enough. :P
The sound didn't work for me, possibly because I'm using linux+wine.
An interesting game. Making the walls react to the sound was a great idea.
Respect for writing this in C. :)
Found a bug: the game speed seems to be tied to the refresh rate, so it's almost unplayable on my 144hz monitor.
Good job on having a working game!
There isn't much to do, but the style is absolutely beautiful!
Nice, polished game. Good job!
I found a small bug: pushing a brick cube from a cliff at the same time as the water rises to your height and kills you doesn't hide your sprite, unlike any other death.
Looks interesting, there's a lot gameplay going on.
Some kind of tutorial would help a lot, or perhaps tooltips for various tile types.
Nice neon aesthetic! The music fits well too.
The controls felt a little weird though: for max speed you need to hold a direction on WASD, *and* make sure you're facing the right direction.
Got to 47 points...
Nice little game. Interesting idea with the connected missles.
Really liked the music, did you make it yourself?
Really impressive art and funny dialogues! Didn't realize how far I have to fly to find the right asteroids, and didn't find any before getting the second radar upgrade. But managed to finish the game after that.
Ridiculously good graphics and very juicy movement. Managed to get to level 5.
Sound didn't work for me for some reason, possibly because I ran it on linux+wine.
Oh hey! I also made a game about a piece of flame for the previous LD!
I like how your size changes as you lose HP. Also the rat looks cool! There's a small bug with it: shooting it after it dies replays the death animation.
I'm a sucker for precision platformers and metroidvanias, but the controls were very unorthodox. Normally you make the character jump immediately, then control the jump height by adjusting gravity in midair.
Also the capsule (or sphere?) collider on the character threw me off a bit, it causes you to slide from platforms if you come too close to the edge.
Unable to launch, `UnityPlayer.dll` is missing.
Doesn't work for me on linux+wine.
I get a black screen with the health/timestop bars at the bottom. The music & sounds do play, so the game didn't hang.
Maybe a shader failed to compile? Not sure where to look for logs though.
Nice work for a first game! My only complaint is that sometimes you get unluckly, and your run ends because there are no planets around.
A neat little platformer.
Good job supporting both QWERTY and AZERTY, though I was a bit surprised to see the less widespread AZERTY to be the default. :) Manually tweaking controls for the layout shouldn't be necessary. I'm not familiar with pygame, but SDL2, which pygame seems to use, has the concept of scancodes vs keycodes, where scancodes keep their physical positions across layouts. If you use scancodes for the keyboard input instead of keycodes, you won't need to worry about the layout.
@jellycopter All levels have setups that work without pixel-perfect movements. :)
@brokenbridge Aha, my wife got stuck on it for a good 15 minutes too. I've added some hints to the description, just in case.
@sbeif Thanks for debugging the crash, fixed.
Hint for level 6 - it's legal to place 2 rods in a row in the editor.
Regarind the П design, it didn't occur to me that it also worked on level 1... :weary:
Regarding which side moves - when there's gravity, if one side sits on the ground and the other doesn't, the one on the ground stays still. This condition will suddenly toggle when a gravity block is attached/detached, so there's that. (If both sides are on the ground or both not, if one side rests against a movable block, then it stays still. Otherwise both move.)
@obittner Works as intended. :P There's a setup that makes it not pixel-perfect.
I too made a game about building contraptions to move a box, but mine has way different physics. :P
---
I really like the idea, but I feel it needs more polish (I assume all the time was spent on the physics engine itself).
You managed to add most the elements of a proper physics sandbox, which is impressive! (even collision layers!)
Algodoo was one of my favorite games as a kid, so this felt very nostalgic. I binged a few levels, but stopped playing that the one where you need to roll over a few gaps and throw the box into a hole, because the freezes got too annoying.
The web version freezed on me constantly, especially when the contraptions got complex. It would hang for 5-10 seconds at a time.
I wish the controls were a little more convenient. Also the leaderboards menu lacks the 'back' button. :)
Very nice game! Somehow felt polished, despite the simple graphics.
I also got my camera stuck around an empty point, with no enemies in sight.
Nice game, really liked the visual style and the overall mood. Soundtrack is great too.
Time freeze on hit felt a little too long for my taste.
Nice idea. I wish the enemies were a bit more squishy, and there was more of them.
The audio was way too quiet though.
On Wine (on Linux) crashes when starting a level. Would try to debug it, but there is no source...
The world is really detailed, and the art looks nice too. But some things make it frustrating to play, like the camera showing very little space ahead of you, no enemy knockback, and the very fast jump/fall speed (especially when you can't grab a ledge while falling next to it). Took me some time to realize I have double-jump.
A mix of a racing game and a VN, why not. :P
Couldn't figure out what to do after driving to the end of the first level, is that the end of the game?
...and the broken English threw me off a bit.
Interesting idea! But yeah, I suggest adding an instruction of what to do to the description. It took me a very long time to figure out how to spawn new ground tiles, and I'm still need unsure what yellow and brown boxes represent.
Oh, and car-steering-like movement was annoying, I wish A and D always rotated me in the same direction.
Nice little game. I also got stuck on the level with three flowers in a row.
@clintor24 I've added a little walkthrough/explanation. :P
@rinevard Yep! Only SDL3 and some other libraries, including my own.
@dhim Hi, thanks for the list! :P If you're willing to experiment with it, I believe my game should run fine in Wine. I'm myself not on Windows (but on Linux), and had to test in Wine and in VirtualBox.
@gdman Thanks! SDL3 itself is emscripten-compatible, but SDL3 GPU isn't yet. The webgpu backend is still being cooked.
@henk Yeah, some interactions ended up a bit jank. :P
There's an image above in the game description explaining the mechanics better.
@cassowary Thanks for the kind words. :P
I just realized you're the person who made https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/the-great-flood, I remember playing that one.
Great job! Love pixel platformers in general, and this is a great specimen. :P
It's definitely on the level that wouldn't look out of place in Steam (maybe with more levels). I wouldn't have guessed that this is made in just 3 days if I saw it on Steam.
What software did you use to make the music?
image.png
image.png
@placeholders The author told me after my first walkthrough that you can in fact click on them to detach them. :P
Nice little game! Took me a minute to realize I need to press [1] to start. Also ZXC didn't work for some reason, I had to use WASD + Space to shoot.
A really interesting idea, but it ends up being very simple with only one degree of freedom. Most levels end up being solvable by looking only at the teeeny area around the center of rotation.
This would be really inreseting with a freely rotating camera and an entire skybox of stars.
1.png
Very impressive! Looks like a full-fledged game.
Quite a fun game! The art is quite nice too.
1.png
I didn't understand the instruction how to bounce. At first I thought "tap close to ground/walls" meant I had to specifically click them with the mouse while standing still, but figured it out myself randomly.
For better or worse, the timing of the bounce is lenient, and there seems to be no cooldown, so spamming it effectively makes you immune to the fall damage. Though this is probably the only thing that makes sense for the view area this tiny. :P Harder bounce timings would only make sense if you could see where you're going, I guess.
Nice game! Gives me Snake Rattle 'n' Roll vibes, which I loved as a kid.
The physics is a bit jank, but that's probably to be expected. :P
A small bug I found is that while WASD works for movement, A collides with restart. This confused me for a moment until I realized I can use arrows too.
Great game! I like the art style a lot.
Having the little guys to equip is so cute. :P
Found a minor visual bug, in addition to the magenta triangle posted earlier: (this is the material list for second boots)
1.png
I really like the visual style. Being able to see all the layers below is cool.
A really creepy mood, nice!
Harpooning fishes is hard. :P Managed to get one fish.
Either direction spread is too big, or it only works properly in certain facing directions.
Really clever main mechanic!
Can't seem to rate this game for some reason. Did you intentionally opt out of all categories?
Yep, works now!
I really like the art style. The fonts in the main menu didn't load for me, but worked fine in the rest of the game (I'm on Wine, so maybe some fonts that exist by default on Windows are missing here?).
1.png
Took me a while to understand that you can move between layers by flying through the upper and lower edges of the screen.
Couldn't find the portals mentioned in the description, so if there are multiple levels, I've only seen the first one.
After answering all questions, the text appears momentarily and then my entire browser crashes. D: Using FF on Linux.
That's the jam version. Post-jam version crashed after answering 3 questions.
Yup, works in chrome!
An interesting idea, never seen anything like that on LD before. Also nice to see people openly entertaining something other than strict physicalism, this is rare in the technical community. :P
I also couldn't shake off the feeling that the final screen was an identity function of my answers, it just expanded on them a bit.
It would be really interesting to have the game argue with the player, and dynamically ask them difficult questions about their answers.
~~(LD site posted my comment twice)~~
A really solid game, great job.
I like the little bonk effect when you smash into a wall. :P
Got to level three, got stuck at the computer puzzle. Didn't have any lag issues.
Doesn't work in Wine sadly. Gets stuck with black screen on startup most of the time. When I get past that, the shaders bug out (see below). The text seems to be clipped by the bottom of the screen too. 1.png
I get a lot of the following warnings in the terminal: ``` 0214:fixme:d3d:wined3d_context_gl_bind_shader_resources Shader 0000711008B52230 needs 40 samplers, but only 32 are supported. 0214:fixme:d3d:wined3d_context_gl_bind_shader_resources Shader 0000711008B6B550 needs 39 samplers, but only 32 are supported. 0214:fixme:d3d:wined3d_context_gl_bind_shader_resources Shader 0000711008B80970 needs 37 samplers, but only 32 are supported. 0214:fixme:d3d:wined3d_context_gl_bind_shader_resources Shader 0000711008B96060 needs 42 samplers, but only 32 are supported. 0214:fixme:d3d:wined3d_context_gl_bind_shader_resources Shader 0000711008BAF890 needs 45 samplers, but only 32 are supported. 0214:fixme:d3d:wined3d_context_gl_bind_shader_resources Shader 0000711008BD0DC0 needs 42 samplers, but only 32 are supported. ```
That works, thanks. Will take a better look at the game tomorrow...
Oh, a match-3! I don't think I've ever seen those on LD before.
Sadly crashes at startup for me in Wine. Crash report: https://pastebin.com/HLiFJzaZ
Not gonna be easy debugging this without the address sanitizer. :P
I can't rate this game for some reason. Did you intentionally opt out of all categories?
I won. :)
1.png
The gravity felt a bit too high. I'd also recommend rebinding "shoot" to a keyboard key, if the mouse doesn't control the direction.
Fun little game, but it took me a few minutes to understand how to play. (Didn't realize I had to use E to pick up items at first, and then didn't realize I can dump unwanted ones into the holes.)
@Vasco-Freitas Can't believe I forgot that. D: Try now.
@Gurbx Thanks for the feedback! I've just added the mute button.
And actually I admit that the music didn't turn out too good this time.
@aaron-nemoyten Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, initially I made gems kill you when they move too, but then decided to remove that to reduce difficulty. Probably should've made them safe on landing too. But, but... the Vsync is enabled by default. Maybe you've disabled it in your driver settings or something? The engine could turn it off automatically only if your PC can't handle 60 FPS, but that's unlikely. This game doesn't use a lot of resources.
I really liked the aesthetics, great job!
Win 7 user here, crashes too. Managed to get a stack trace with a debugger, not sure if it's of any use:
FallingRooms.exe caused an Illegal Instruction at location 0000000000D87CFF in module FallingRooms.exe.

I got the same problem, the red blocks didn't appear. The ball is tricky to control, but it's not too hard. Otherwise I liked the game, especially the style!
Great job, feels very smooth and the graphics are very nice. I can already see this winning in some if the categories. :O
This is a nice one. Slightly hard, but fun once you understand what's going on.
Definitely the best graphics I've seen on this LD. Great jub dude, great job!
I really like the graphics, and the idea is interesting too.
Great art man, reminds me of Titan Souls
Not a bad game, finished it!
Ha, this is great! The controls are terrible in a good way, and I like how the character looks.
(BTW, in comments to my game you said it didn't start for you. I fixed it and pinged you, not sure if you got a notification.)
-del-
Great aesthetics!
Lol'd on on "Do my feathers make me look fat?". :P
I only wish dialogues would appear more often and the correct choices were more obvious.
A nice game, feels very smooth indeed! I like the music.
But I couldn't figure out how to enter space stations. Pressing E did nothing. Only once I saw [E] image on a space station, but it disappered when I got closer.
The tutorial wasn't as bad as Waveston said, but imho teaching players as the game progressed is more convenient.
