I get an error saying "Can't create an openGL 3.3 rendering contex" when I try to run the game.
i love the idea and the execution, control feels tight, i love how the slime can slid through the thin gap between object
I like the character movement, very unique, not really sure how it worked, but maybe that's what made it so good! I replayed a few times and I think I got better everytime, but a highscore would have been nice, and also score displayed while you are playing.
@ArtemFTW Godot sometimes gives that error at some computers. It might be because your graphics card/driver is old but thats rarely the cause. Sadly there isn't much I can do to fix it :(
It's quite fun. However, I have some issues with controls. When you are stuck under something, or trying to get through a very tight opening, you are left at mercy of a physics engine, which is a bit frustrating. Oh, and sound wouldn't hurt. But other than that, it's okay.
@RilleP Thanks for the feedback! Since you have asked I'm going to explain the movement:D The slime creature has 10 feet each are connected to the creatures center and to the feet next to them via springs that didn't behave as I expected but you can see it works this way too. When tryig to move, each foot applies impulse to the bodies it's colliding with (to the opposite direction of movement) while pushing itself in the movement direction.
@Ghen Thank you for trying out :)
Really interesting movement. Heartbreaking when you run out of food while trying to wiggle through a tiny gap. Love the characters flailing if you jump out of the top of the pile.
That's some interesting movement mechanic. Nice job!
+1 to “Can’t create an openGL 3.3 rendering contex”. Godot 3 doesnt working on my PC(
This is such a cool movement system, it really makes you think about the level completely differently. Works surprisingly well too considering how much it relies on physics and moving geometry.
Interesting! Standard gameplay, but an astonishing approach to graphics for the main character. Also, thanks for the insight about the game mechanics, looks like a simple system that has a complex behavior, I like that :laughing:
The mechanics of the main player are quite good. The camera movement is fluid, it is a bit on the easy side. The gameplay does not change through the run, and I did not felt an increase in the difficulty level. The graphics are good and coherent, however sometimes blur disenchants the pixel-art feeling sometimes. Music is well done, however the timings of the sound effects are bit wonky.
Overall, a complete game with a great core mechanic. Well done!
I really enjoyed the movement and the feel of slipping between the junk in search of food. I almost launched myself out of the entire area. Is that possible?
Music and sfx were simple, but worked well with the mood. Nice job!
The controls are ace. Sliding in tight spots, that spastic sci-fi monster movement feels amazing. Also great music for it's aesthetics, which are the right amount of pixel and play station 1 polygon glitchness.
Some thoughts: I couldn't read the first time the instructions because they dissapeared too fast so I tried exitting but ESC only works when the game is over (Let me quit!)
Fantastic job implementing complex physics/movement behavior. Also really enjoyed the art =)
@ravenflame Thanks. I'm quite found of the flailing :D It's cool that you enjoy the heart-ache (i enjoy it aswell)
@holyblackcat Thank you :)
@stillnotsure Yeah. I didn't even try to balance it much(yet).
@mshopf Thanks. The graphics for the main character is just the code drawing lines between the points (center and feet) on the main character, I think it looks amazing too :)
@arqcenick Thanks for the detailed feedback. There wasn't enough content to create a real (feelable) increase in difficulty though the food drop decrases over time to make sure nobody survives forever. I agree that the noise mix in the background is sometimes a bit too much (especially towards the middle of the background texture). I'm glad you liked the music :) This is my second time getting far enough in a game to be able to worry about sfx so I didn't have much experience.
@minibobbo Thanks :) Launching yourself out of the area is pretty hard with the current balance but it should be possible. Also thank you for making a post (partially) about my game. It's a great idea and i will make a "favourite games" post aswell, when I play enough games.
@2bam Spastic Sci-Fi monster :D Your concern is top priority and it will be the first thing i get to fix when I get my hands on the project again.
@kirb Thank you :)
Thank you all for all the love :D Making this game was a smooth experince so far (not much junk code) and I'm especially fond of how the graphics turned out so I'd like to continue the project a bit when I can (in a week?). I plan to start by applying some suggestions you guys gave, then rework some mechanics, make more junk types, enchance the audio and add some stuff I'd really like to be in the game. In the meanwhile if you want some junk types in the game let me know and I'll add them. (with a fixed ridiculousness / rareness ratio)
Great idea to the theme and execution! Controls and mood feel right.
Nice game. But I suggest changing the graphics resolution, because after playing for about 5 minutes, my eyes are bleeding :D. Anyway good game!
Controls were fun
Love the character and the good physics. Its strange but works well for the style of game. Only problems with the game is no warning for the incinerator. As well the controls are a bit tricky at times. Over all a great game and a good laugh.
Very nice game. Controls and movement feel amazing. However, I found the game over text a little hard to read. Overall, Great job!
Good job on finishing a game for this ludum dare! It's a great concept, with the slick character being able to dive through the tiniest cracks like a cat! That mechanic can feel awesome when you're speeding through the maze of stuff. Unfortunately it can at times also feel extremely unwieldy, sending your character flying miles up, while your hungerbar just keep trickling down and you don't have time to get food. I agree with other people about the readability of the text, maybe make it a bit higher res next time. Overall it's still a pretty interesting (and difficult, dare I say!) entry, so good job on making it :)

The movement controls were a bit quirky but very interesting to watch the creature move around with those "tentacles", very visually interesting. I like the pixely art style but I think the game was far too easy. You probably need to add some more features to the game to keep i interesting. Maybe some enemy type?
wow, very fun! i accidentally jumped out of the area though. :cry:
Godot doesn't work very well on my computer :/ But I wanted to comment anyway because the thumbnail caught my attention, so it's already a little victory. Cheers!
Good!
