Great job
Checkpoints are for weak people
If you can not start due to missing OpenAL32.dll, you need to install OpenAL. Or wait, we will put the required files inside the download folder soon...
Just to clarify:
The different fishes you can catch have different properties, both damage, attack area, sell price, heal value, and how hard they are to catch. Thats why they vary.
And there is alot of sound.
To those that cant experience the sounds/music. This could be a problem with OpenAL, try updating OpenAL on your computer:
https://www.openal.org/downloads/oalinst.zip
Otherwise make a shortcut to the .exe, right click on the shortcut and go to properties, in Target add [ debug] without brackets to get a debug console. If there is any error messages please post them.
Nice
Nice minimalistic game. Annoying when the cursor goes outside the window though
Nice! Some things that I would like is faster movement, added sound effects and also I find this half-tilted perspective annoying when your directional keys are up,down, right, left. Helps some to tilt your keyboard 45°
Game does not start :(
The player falls through the floor. Sometimes at game start but also ingame
Based on a true story. Nice to see UE!
I cant get the file :(
I think I will use this every day from now on!
Graphics and sound are great, would like the gameplay to have some more depth
Mouse input would be nice
I must be getting old, too fast for me...
Please no installers in the future
Everybody likes clickers. Dont press the red button!
Funny run-animation for the guard. Here are som bugs: Guards seems to stop patrolling when in non-human shape. Guards can not "bust" you when in non-human mode. Possible to teleport outside the game-world if entering human mode near a wall. Otherwise fun.
Probably a very stupid question but... how do I start the windows version?
Well made and interesting gameplay. I like the extra time you spent on making the menus look good. I think the next step would be to polish the graphics some.
Wow! I am not a fan of dialogue games but this topic kept me interested to the end. The art style stands out compared to most other games here and one other thing that impressed me a lot was the menu system, that looked super professional!
Fun and intense gameplay. Many bonus points for the intro cinematics! I miss sounds though... Found a bug. After using the "laser relic" I could not use the normal attack anymore.
Snake is always fun! But it is also a very well-used game mechanic. A shrinking room is a nice variation but I think you have to add more non-standard snake features to have some variations. Maybe the room should decrease depending on the side you eat the food from or that it is possible to hold back the walls with your tail or something.
The music is top-level! The gameplay mechanics are classic and not much new there though but impressive that you could make random generated levels that work fine. This is quite often risky businesses when it comes to puzzle games.
Great models and graphics. For me the game is a bit slow though and the enemies have too much HP. I would decrease the HP and add more enemies instead. Great music!
There are surprisingly very few text-based games here so I had high hopes when I saw this. However, there should be more player interactions and not just reading a text. I hope you could add some options for a future jam!
Impressive graphics, sound and fun idea. The thing I would improve is the controls. I do not get a good understanding on how the player is moving using the controls and mostly just button-mash things. However, in a game like this one should not have too simple controls so it is a fine balance to adjust.
Fun idea! The use of photos make it look very nice. Easy to understand the controls directly which is a big plus. Would like to have some more explanation on how to "win" and maybe also some soundtrack in the background.
The music is amazing! The cellular automata is a nice touch and interesting to watch. This could very well be super fun to play, however, the big problem for me are the controls. They feel slow and unresponsive. Some tweaking there and this would be one of my favorite games this year!
Great graphics, really liked the art-style. This type of FPS-puzzle solving games is something that I like a lot. The "task-progression" and difficulty was balanced well. One problem for me though is that I think it takes too long time to get rid of the anxiety. Is mostly an annoying feature for me. But to summarize, I think this is the best game I played so far!
Great art style and well-tested gameplay mechanics, well done. One problem is the visual feedback that the ship is moving. If there are no asteroids on screen it feels like nothing happens. I suggest to add some kind of background that scrolls when the player is moving around.
Sounds and looks fun, but crashes at startup for me though :(
@samusoidal Windows, Nvidia GTX 1070
I am a big fan o physics games but often the controls and object behavior get clunky or unrealistic. This takes a long time to balance. What I think you could improve is the camera view. It was a bit annoying to have to control the camera as well as the crane (at least increase the mouse sensitivity). I also have to spend time avoiding the crane wires to flop around. Maybe these could be stabilized somehow... After some more polishing this game could be a really great game. Also lacks some sound/music.
Typing games are under estimated according to me so keep them coming :) However, I thing typing random generated words is not as fun as typing real ones. Just a tip for the future. I like the minimalistic approach.
A well made bullet-hell game that is fun to play. The 2 types of enemies made the gameplay interesting. I would like to have more enemies added over time to keep the gameplay interesting longer.
Looks like an extreme version of guitar hero (8 keys :)). What the goal is and how to get higher score was not obvious to me so please describe this a bit more.
Nice cover art! I think it would be more fun if you increased the game pace and maybe add some more gameplay elements, maybe powerups or different enemies. One big problem though, it crashed for me after a while.
Really fun idea and story but the gameplay does not last very long for me though. Interesting version of a clicker. I would suggest making the bin buttons larger and maybe have some more visual feedback on which chat that have lots of messages. There are the numbers but takes longer time to find/read than if the bar change color or something.
This is a well made brawler and that one increase/decrease in size when fighting is a great touch. This makes the game more unique compared to other brawlers. Impressive that you manage to make a working AI for this! For ludum dare I often ignore multiplayer since I think the testers do not have time to test this. However, this game would probably be at its greatest in multiplayer. Maybe something for a post-jam... Great game!
Well made gameplay and will therefore continue to be interesting after a while of playtime. The graphics is minimalistic but also well planned to separate the different enemies/powerups.
Fun idea, I enjoyed playing this one. The main thing I would like to improve is that the attack/sweep movement are too slow and therefore feels more unresponsive. Also, maybe unzoom the view more to get a better overview.
The movement controls were a bit quirky but very interesting to watch the creature move around with those "tentacles", very visually interesting. I like the pixely art style but I think the game was far too easy. You probably need to add some more features to the game to keep i interesting. Maybe some enemy type?
The most fun compo game I tested so far! What I would like to improve: - Frustrating to have to restart from the beginning after death. Would like to continue on the curent level. - Large step but anyway... Add some graphics, would like to have visual feedback on running, jumping and wall jumping to improve the controls.
Fun to play and well polished with details like screen-shake. The gameplay is quite standard but the shrinking of the level based on the enemies made it much more interesting to play. Good sound effects and good that you added some music! The difficulty level was perfect for me and I also liked the progression o increasing difficulty over time.
Well made runner, great for a first game. I like the simplicity, maybe a bit difficult in the beginning. Somethings to improve: The visual and audio feedback is very important in these type of timeing games. I lack the sound when continuing a roll, for example if I press roll when I am already in a roll, I want to hear that my input was registered. Bonus point for the menu system you made :)
Well done! At first I did not get the controls even after reading the "how to play". Maybe you could say use the mouse to control the wheel or something. The graphics style I liked a lot and the way you control the boat is excellent! One thing I would change is the zoom level. I would have zoomed out more so one could see the swimmers earlier. Now my reaction speed is too slow to dodge the swimmers and usually so the best way to play for me is to just go straight ahead. Sound was also good.
The 2D/3D switching gameplay element is a very ambitious thing to add but I thing you did it well. To which side view that you get when entering 2D mode was a bit confusing to me though. Some more markings on walls/floor would help to orient which side that you are looking at.
Simple, good controls and fun to play. What I would do to improve is to add some sound/music. It might be a bit too fast paced in the beginning (or maybe I am just too slow)
Fun idea. Would like to play more but the controls have to be improved. I would like to attack much faster and to have some more variation in the combat. Also, some sound would be great.
A way to parry attacks for example, or using your mouse cursor to make different attack moves by "drawing" simple shapes. Also, maybe adding different weapons.
You could sell this, everything is great! The graphics, music, gameplay, everything! One bad thing though, it was far to difficult for me in the beginning, would like to have something simple as the first level (maybe I am just very bad).
Looks interesting and have nice models and menues but I have problems with the GUI. I did not understand what to do really. Maybe too few encounters?
Looks super professional. A very graphical puzzle game. The only thing I mis is some kind of animation or graphical feedback when you move blocks.
Had to play this after reading the description! A bit too dark mood for me but fun idea and fun to play. I think the movement is too fast though. Bonus point for the game over win screen, haha
Nice graphics and animations. Gameplay was very good and fun to play. The difficulty progression was well balanced. What I miss is sound and maby some more features later in the game, like different weapons maybe.
This game have been the most fun to play of the ones I have tested. The gameplay makes it fun to play and big bonus for nice graphics and sound. Great job!
Very well made. I have just one suggestion. I do not like that the walls are "sticky", meaning that one can not move up if there is a wall on the right side while you also press that direction. This makes the player get stuck in some cross sections in stressful situations. But good game!
An awesome soundtrack! This submission has very high quality compared to most other games here. The controls, graphics, gameplay, story are great. One suggestion that I have is that the player is so fast that it is way simpler to rush by enemies than dealing with them (just like in real life :)). One can run through the entire game without engaging in combat. One last suggestion is to have some variation between the levels. A simple changing of the floor color helps and it quick. Thanks for a great game submission!
It is very bold of you to make a 3D stealth game for LD and I think you manage to do so with a great result! What I suggest to continue on is improving the controls, feels like moving in syrup. And then some nice models for enemies. Thanks for a nice game!
Thanks for the feedback @rustycrow I agree that the good/bad indicator could be confusing. I made it so that if the bar indicator is on the right side it is a good thing for all properties.
@mika-la-grand The intro is a bit confusing, sorry. Strange that you do not see the top of the screen. Maybe your screen resolution is lower than the game-minimum. The game needs 1024x768 pixels. This is the start screen, or part of it. Just press some random buttons then press enter for the game to start. But it will be difficult to play if your screen is smaller than 1024x768 pixels.
@eddensoft I do not blame you, the intro thing is a bit farfetched... What you do is entering a DNA sequence (you know, A,T,C,G), assumingly you own since the idea is that the first and original creature was created in your image (a copy of you and therefore you, since the theme is "YOUR life is currency"). The creatures could therefore be seen as you and you are using their (and your) life as currency... hmm
@peringo The "aggression" stat shows a certain probability that the individual will hurt another nearby. So even if the bar is low there still is a chance of this to happen, just much lower than if the bar were far to the right. Best is to find individuals with zero (bar to the far left), these will never cause any problems, and let these reproduce.
@muchoswaffles Thanks! Wow, nice city. The cities I have left unattended have often just stopped growing unless you do not take care of them. Its all about probability.
Very beautiful and good controls. Some sound and music would have made it top level stuff. Something I miss in this game is some opponents to crash into and compete against. The AI for that might take some time but just a suggestion from me, this is a great submission!
Nice 3D world. I really like the neverending terrain. But I think it is a bit simple and the difficulty level increases too slow. I would like to have some more variating gameplay elements. Maybe some enemies or new features. Good game!
Good car game, reminds me of SNES mario kart. Models and soundtrack are great. Supernice that you have a leaderboard! The only thing I could complain about is that the controls are a bit jerky but otherwise, great game!
Graphics are very good, nice models. Music and sound are also very good and I can not find anything to complain about, but as mentioned above, some AI to play against would be a nice addition. Amazing results for a short game jam. One last thing, the music intro reminded me about the super hexagon soundtrack ;)
Looks good and fun to play. The music is the best though according to me. Nice to hear about a game-making family, must be very fun! :)
Haha, very funny! Graphics, sound and gameplay are all good. Just lacks some overall polishing from being perfect I guess. The boss battles are great but the levels are a bit simple maybe. However, the humor is what is best with this game, looking forward to your LD45 submission!
Amazing art and 3D model animation, nice!
Very nice for you first LD game. Pixel art animations are well made but one problem that I have is that the controls are a bit laggy. Maybe it has something to do with the web-version. Nice game!
Very funny idea and gameplay elements fits great! I also would like to see some more scenarios with some more random minigames maybe. Thanks for a great game!
Superb pixel art! Excellent gameplay, this is fun to play for long and I want more. Movement, graphics, sound are all great. This is the best submission I have seen so far. Here are a few things that could make your game better. The missions are very similar and I would really like to take the team out on missions, meaning that they follow you around and you have to fetch an item or kill a special enemy for example. Another thing that would be great is some music. Great game! I hope you continue post-jamming this one!
The graphics are great and the music fits excellent. The thing I would continue with is working on the physics, but you already ave a nice game there!
Really enjoyed the awesome 4K background!
Well made interactions and is playable for some time. Nice looking enemies but remember to stick with the graphics style. If you do pixel art it looks much better if everything is pixel art in your game. Some sound effects would your probably elevate your game a lot. Good game, thanks!
First time I see a submission made with processing, nice :) I like the pixelart but I would prefer if it was a bit more fast pace. It takes some time to walk back and forth to the seller every round. Maybe you should make the enemies more aggressive or randomly walk around?
Nice start animation and nice to hear some music. The gameplay is what sticks out in this game. At least this was something new to me and works very well. Should work nice on phones. A suggestion on what to do next would be to vary the levels more by introducing more game elements, maybe powerups or enemies. However, it is already amazing that you could do all this by yourself within 48 hours!
Nice music! And fun idea regarding the theme. The controls are fine but with some more polishing you can get them to super-mario-quality. Not often thought of but you manage to get really good-looking menues. I just have one stupid question... how do I press the button to open the gate? I tried standing and jumping on it with a full bag.
Very interesting concept! With some polishing this could become something really fun. Some better AI is also missing but I hope you keep on working on this or similar concepts!
Fun TD with the features you want. The sound is good and the sprite animations are great! But somehow I think the amazing models do not go well with the background and it all looks a bit messy. I also think that in is too much zoomed in. Tell your artist/animator he/she/them are amazing!
This was definitely the most innovative game I have tested. Very interesting but game-wise it feels lite something is missing. Also, I think life passes too fast :)
Cosy and fun little platformer with good controls, nice graphics and sound. Very good for a ludum dare submission!
Well done, I really enjoyed this FPS. Nice music and sound but the controls are a bit floaty in my opinion. It was fun to play but I was not very fond of that I lose HP when shooting, but I guess it has to fit the theme somehow... Thanks for a good-looking fun game!
Well done! I like the small graphicals features like pulsating text for example. The music is very good. It has been mentioned before but I also find attacking a bit uncomfortable. I would like some longer range.
Yes, the game crashes immediately for me too :(
Very nice game! Well balanced, but my problem is that the food runs out. Should new food not appear over time?
Looks fun, want to try but the windows link just have images and .class files. How do I start that?
Fun! Full score for that soundtrack! Difficult but not too difficult.
@lintfordpickle Thanks! First proper bugs I hear about. Good to get comments on this. I have not experienced jumping of blocks. Was this while shaking things around a lot or boxes that were still? Regarding sound. I use OpenAl to play sounds and some computers have a problem with this. Including the .dlls in the game folder, as provided in the download helps for some. Should help with installing OpenAl in case these drivers never have been installed earlier (often used in other games). Would be very nice to hear if you solved it since I have problem finding those who cant hear the sound for debugging :)
Good platform physics and nice animations and background. I had a problem not seeing the entire screen though.
As mentioned above, similar to binding of isaac, which I also enjoy a lot! Good controls, level design enemy variation and great music!
Looks like a LD submission by Zachtronics :) Very complex for a LD-game (which is positive) However, I would like an easier first mission to flatten the learning curve.
Fun! But would like it a bit easier in the start. Felt like grinding to collect enough points to build something.
Art and music are in top class, well done! Fun to play!
Just an empty folder in the link...
First time I see intro cinematics on a LD submission. Big bonus for that! Nice theme interpretation :)
Well made for that short time! Do not be harsh, this is good for a LD submission. And I would say very good. One of the more fun games I have tested this year. Fun game mechanics and animations!
A great start but needs some more gameplay element in the long run. Otherwise, great controls, graphics, sound and fun to play!
Took a while to get the controls. Had to read some comments. Not so interesting at start but to my surprise, it quickly got rather fun to play. Like the graphics!
Fun idea and well made game. Great use of assets. Nice litle physics game! Impressing that you had time to make a working AI opponent!
Tried the windows version but got this: Error: Couldn't load project data at path ".". Is the .pck file missing?
I got the same error as mentioned above in Array.h when i "fixed a leak".
Hmm.. I complete the levels before I realize what I have done. Got to level 7 before I got the controls, haha.
Interesting art! Like the animations. The movement mechanics needs some polishing though.
No link? No game?
Excellent graphics!
Wow! An entire vehicle builder and physics game. I am impressed!
Interesting game mechanic. Nice sound and music!
Fun little balance game. Liked the art-style and the simplicity of the game. One thing that annoyed me though. That I had to read the instructions at the same time as I was playing the game. That was stressful!
Well done for your first submission! It took me severeal years of game programming before I dared to make something in just 2 day.
I would like to use the mouse as control to pick up the cubes.
Nice animation, fun gameplay, but what impresses me the most are that you spent time doing great menues! Some sound effects would be great.
Reminds me of super meatboy!
Always fun to se something that is not Unity or unreal engine :) I also write my games in OpenGL. Huge bonus for making an icon! Nice music and sound. Very good pixelart! The game get quite repetetive fast though. As you said, the physics is a bit weird and could be improved. However, looks amazing! Well done!
Keeping a reactor stable was one of the ideas I had too. But I could not find out a gameplay mechanic that would fit. You found a great solution with keyboard tapping! Very nice graphics, well picked audio and nice humor! It has enough content for a LD submission but what I miss is some more features in the game. Maybe levels, checkpoints and progression. Maybe powerups, or some other event to vary the gameplay. However, a perfect LD submision, well done!
Need some more instructions :)
Well done, nice graphics and audio. However, too slow for my taste. I want faster scrolling.
Controls are very well made and it is fun to play, direct fun. The next step would be to add some more features I think. Maybe different kinds of zombies. Difficult when you start being surrounded with enemies, the back should be free
Maybe I am doing something wrong... After Unity has loaded, the screen just turns gray. Only me?
Fun start but I mostly got stuck in leave the room repeats, did I miss something?
@syrapt0r Ahh! Yes I played the first version, thanks!
Fun but the turn based feature quickly turns more annoying (but that was the theme anyway). Like the whole computer environment theme and some music would add much. RTS base builing games are rare at ludum dare, which is something that I miss so thanks very much for this!
Well made, fun to play. Animations are great and sound is good. I though it could be better not to have a direct game over when you do something wrong. Colliding with something could make you lose one follower or all maybe. And maybe you could allow a few chickens to go to the goal before you lose.
@incobalt, yes the game requires a screen height of 768 pixels, sorry. Still possible to play, just ignore the top/botton part.
@impiaaa No virus here. This is the problem with not using the standard game engines. I wrote this from scratch without any engines. I guess I have to pay Microsoft enough to not list all my software as virus... :)
@init-py Yes, sound and music is there. Maybe you have a problem with OpenAL. Could try and download and reinstall that.
@siuler-lm Click anywhere on the screen while the ship is landed to convert resources
@Slashee-the-Cow Thanks for the extensive comment. You can land at any time, you just have to land straight and if you push any buttons the plane will lift directly. Probably tricky in the beginning (I should have made this easier). The clicking was to add a sort of minigame to force the player to "work" for the resources and make the player having to plan times for resource conversion and fighting of the enemies.
Looks fun but one thing that disturbs me much is the slowness between turns. I would like to be able to skip though the waiting, to play more :)
This is the best theme combination I have seen so far. I normally can not horror games (I am a pussy) but all the focus on the clicking made it bearable. Good mechanics and fun to play.
It looked very simple at start but I got really fun. The difficulty level is well set and made me play more. The auto-fire feature was a good design feature which made it more fun to play. What to do next is to spend some more time on the models :)
Presentation was gold! Great humor! And also fun to play. Splitscreen rotation method was very nice. I am just missing some sound effects and maybe music after the voiceover.
This gameplay is something that should be explored more! Here are some suggestions to improve: Have a simpler start for new players with easier/less HP enemies in the beginning. Do not give all game features directly, spread them out. Sounds levels are uneven, some too loud. I would prefer to make it more fast pace. Good luck!
The models are amazing! Very nice graphics and the game runs nicely. Is there some strategies to consider or just test combos? It is very short. Maybe the next thing would be to have different types of opponents using different fighting styles, so that the player have to test new methods. So nice to look at!
I have wanted to do this type of game many times, but now I do not have to do it anymore :) Understanding the commands was very difficult. Some examples would be greatly appreciated!
Graphics are great, the 3D world looks well made and the 2D sprite of the player is very nice. I encoutered a bug once. 3D world just showed a blue screen and in the 2D world I was stuck in a wall. But otherwise, fun to play!
Very interesting gameplay! Have not seen this before
Looks fun but I was too bad at this. For us less musical humans it would help to have the same sound being generated by the enemies as the sound being played by the keyboard (at least to start with for the easier enemies).
Good game, very funny, nice levels and great soundtrack, then I ducked up...
I am so bad at this. How does one get the ball? Nice graphics but some sound would add a lot.
