Loved it! The learning curve was a bit steep, but I figured it out and played it several times! I see you opted out on sfx, but the implementation was really great.
There's a lot to this game! I really enjoyed it, and played all the way through. Might come back to claim my crown since I lost to the CPU...
The game mechanics are a bit confusing at the beginning but this game could be a great mobile app. Nice entry
This one has a pretty good mood and mechanics, I like it very much. Nevertheless, some sort of additional race visualization (minimap / progress graph, etc) could add more dynamic and clearness to the gameplay. Great job!
@bbaf Thanks for the advise. Race visualisation is a good idea since I only did something functionally similar which is displaying the number of cards remain (0=end). That can be confusing.
@good-enough I opted out audio rating because all the audio are not made by me and they are in public domain.
@vilix64 @good-enough @Handle I made serval update before deadline to balance the cards and tried to low down the complexity of prasing the game rules.
@Marco I did intend for an Android build to be made but not for the jam.
This was a cool little mash-up. It took me a couple of rounds to get the hang of it, but I still managed to pull off a win!
I love the concept. It seems like it could be a lot of fun, and would honestly make a great card or board game as well as a video game. However, I think there's just too much going on with the cards, and it's hard to understand how to play. I thought you could only discard at most 1 card per turn, but the game lets you do more? And there's all this other stuff with turbo, acceleration, oil spills, etc. It's really hard to get a good grasp of what that means when all we see is each racer's speed and current position. Also, It's really not obvious which racer corresponds to the player. I found myself wondering which position I was in.
Took me a whole game to finally figure it out. I really liked it and will be playing again. Great job.
@david-boeger It is the design that allows the player to discard up to three cards. I put the text text at the bottom of the screen to explain that but it seems that no one ever read that. The core mechanics is swapping of position, which often happens when there is speed difference between nearby players. Originally, I intended this game to be learned through discovering animations. But then I added the tutorial explicitly teaching the player how to discard (I made this decision because discarding is a important mechanics that was always ignored in the early playtesting).
Nice concept, I'm not into the racing games, but this one is good. Nice job, man
Nice game, a bit difficult but when you get it you want more
Won my first race with a bit of tactic! Lovely thought :v: The choice between speed and keeping some key cards is indeed really nice! Good job
Very solid game. Great take on the theme with a genuinely fun result :)
I liked the game, it will look great on the phones :race_car: What I liked :
* Mechanics * Funny name. Good Conjunction * Animation of departing cards in the interface
What can add :new: : * Pit-stop
I would be very glad if you review my game [you review my game](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/last-stand-1) :mag:
I like the concept...wasnt sure what I was supposed to be doing at first. But cool game!
Wow this both a good entry and a good FIRST entry! The mechanism is quite good. The style and music you picked for this game both fit very well. I would personally very like to see physical cards for this game. Cuz why not! Mobiles and physical card collections are probably the best place for this. Great work!
Fun mix, very well first entry! I like the small animation details. Paying attention to the details means a lot.
