This game is amazingly polished for a weekend! The graphics are sharp and professional looking. The music really suits the subject well. You can't really ask much more out of mood and theme. It does seem to be weak in innovation. It has pretty typical puzzle mechanics, but it's fun none the less. This game is all set for touchscreens, but I'm finding the controls a bit sluggish using a mouse. Still, very impressive overall.
@thecritterscove
Hey ! Thanks a lot for your feedback ! π
It's our first time developping a puzzle game, and we needed a simple concept as we started really late working on it on the first day.
We're actually working on the Android version, it was the first target for this game but it needed a little more work before being available, it will be probably be done by tomorrow π
Top notch animations, art, and sound. The mouse controls didn't feel good, but that's my only complaint. Great work!
It took me a bit of time to figure out how to move the conveyors on level 1. It just didn't feel natural for me using a mouse. By the time I completed level 1 (about 5 minutes) I understood the nature of the game. I played through to level 7 and quit out of disinterest. The graphics are nice. The sound fx are suiting. The music becomes redundant very quickly. The simplicity of the game is typical of a mobile game. Overall, not bad, especially for a game jam. I gave it a better than average rating. Good job! :)
wow, this game is so polished. One of the best graphics I have played in this LD.

Very nice graphics, but the game play is very stale. Even 13 levels of just slide puzzles without any new mechanics felt drawn out.

Very nice, polished puzzle game that takes components of the sliding puzzle and adds onto it. Could use a bit more level variety, like for instance 5x5 or 6x6 levels, but overall very fun.

Really fun! The visuals, sounds and gameplay are really really polished, and, although I didn't finish it, I really liked it a lot... but I think that the mouse controls are a bit unnatural. But overall great game!

Love the graphics, and great puzzle design! Thanks so much for bringing it by the stream!
The reset button also resetting the time, along with time being the means by which stars are determined, means you can always get max starts by resetting the time after you found the solution. There is no real reason to make me click the sacrifice button after I have solved the puzzle, do it automatically and save me the click. I feel the increase in difficulty needs to be much higher, this is feedback for potential future development. I realize time constraints make it hard to come up with a good difficulty curve.
I love the aesthetics, beautiful and evocative.

Your game is so polished ! I played it on Android and had no mechanics/control problems. The theme is perfectly respected and I definitively love graphics and sounds. Great job ! :)

Nice game, little bit strange controls with the mouse, conveyors only move when the click is released. Graphics are really nice and the music/sound is cool especially when the guy is near the "sacrificial hole".
Very well done for a weekend. I love the art style of the game, the puzzles are fun and the animations are great. For a weekend of work it was extremely well done. I played it on PC which as said is worse for controls. so well done!
That was really good, enjoyed of animations and SFX the most. Like it.

Nice graphics,Nice animations ,I give high marks.
The animations were amazing :) My gosh alot of polish was put into this game. From the animation when a dood is near a hole, to all the bouncing plants, well done.

Ahhhh. This is SOOOO good. It feels almost like a finished game (although short). It was SUCH a joy to play! I grabbed my phone scanned the code, installed the game and just played all 13 levels without even blinking.
Seriously, the art, theme, design, execution, sound. This is just too good. My only tiny complaint is that if you mess up the level restarts, I would have prefered being able to correct my dumb mistake.
Add some new mechanics, polish it a bit more and you have a great game to proudly release. Congratulations and thanks for being awesome!!!

I guess I'll just repeat what other people say - it's a great-looking, fun-to-play game! The only problem was with the controls - it's because you can move a block only one field a time. I guess adding possibility of moving it as many fields you want (and can) with single drag would solve this problem.

Amazing work, really fun take on the "15 puzzle" mechanics. Would love to see more mechanical variety (and better mouse controls - at least with some feedback regarding where we'll move the block), but had a lot of fun with this.

2018-12-04 14:46
A fun and very polished puzzle, great job! I especially love the combination of sound effects (both music and their little oohs and aahs) and art. The only thing that was a bit clunky for me is controls - moving blocks right away when you first press on them would feel much better I think, instead of when you've dragged them to the next tile.
Thanks everyone for all this feedback ! π
We have a good starting point to improve the game on a **post-LD** version !
@mtanton : Changing the **grid size** is a very good idea, it could increase as the level goes on (every 15 levels for example).
@baggef : We wanted **more tiles with specific mechanics** to be available, but ended up with only the ones we have due to time constraints, but it will definitely be part of a polished version of the game.
@timeshapers : The timer was more important in the beginning of the development, but due to changes during the following days it became less relevant and will probably be changed by a **move counter**.
@gerardb : Good point, we didn't even thought about that ! **Losing should not restart the level**, after all we already have a button for that π
@wrnk, @spierek, @mortus : **Mouse controls will totally be reworked**, the game was too mobile focused during the development and we never touched the controls again once they were working.

Really good polished game. Graphics are very good. It's really professional work. Music is also good and fits to the mood. There is an overall coherence to it. And it's fun. The puzzled are complicated enough to keep it interesting till lvl 13 but not too hard so that you can still earns stars. Overall very good game, well polished and finished.
That was really good, enjoyed it :) Good job!

Wow. I really enjoyed playing your game (played it on android), controls felt pretty natural (would be nice if you could move belts multiple slots without releasing the finger - a kind of click&drag)
Graphics are extreamly polished for a game jam. Audio was great but a bit repetitive if you play all 13 levels in a row.
Overall you did an amazing job in that few hours.
Oh my god! What an incredible game!! Clever but very easy implementation of the theme, visual look is just pitch perfect, effective but simple gameplay! Damn this a a good game. Some would ask payment for these... Well done. Keeping this one installed on my phone you can bet it'll stay there.

It has been said a bunch already but this really is amazing work. Played on android and it worked great. Only complaint is I need more levels.
Excellent work!! Thanks for submitting your game to be played on my stream, I really enjoyed it!!
Loved the game, nice use of the theme. Totally my kind of game.
Loved the idea, it's so simple but fun! And the art style is a 10 out of 10 Congratulations, very nice game!

I played through all 13 levels without even thinking about it. Beautiful little casual puzzle game with a lot of potential as a mobile app. Everything is spot on except for the clunky mouse controls but as a mobile game it will be brilliant. Nice job! Excited to see where you take it :)

A deceptively head-cracking puzzler. You can easily "know" the solution by looking at the blocks, but getting them into place is the real trick, and I love it for it.
Sacrificio_Inc_2018-12-04_21-09-02.png
The whole game feels like one of those frustrating slide puzzles, but with an actual fun methodology to them, with very limited space to maneuver to get everything into place. The mix of the gorgeous artwork, the tribal-esque music and clever levels make this a top-notch entry.
By far, my favorite detail is how the sacrifices scream as they get close to the pit. That's the kind of polish that really outstands. Fascinating job!
[The team](discord.whalesandgames.com) were looking forward to check this out since the game was announced. We're looking forward to seeing where else will this team head in the future! :whale:
Very simple and very complete. Love the visual style of the game, and some puzzles had me retrying to solve them more quickly. The music and sounds fit well. Solid 4.5, especially seeing how well polished this game is over a weekend. Also, much better deserved seeing that the game has a multitude of clever puzzles and has support for both android and windows.

Amazing art and sound design! The puzzles are well thought out, I loved it! I enjoy the variation in villagers' designs and sound personalities, although I will admit that (on PC at least, it may feel different coming out of a phone speaker), the villagers and especially their death yells are the weakest link in the sound design. Still, really great overall, I beat everything with three stars (and then went back for a star I didn't notice I'd missed). I do have a comment about the menu: After unlocking everything, you can cycle back to level 1 from clicking the right arrow up until you're beyond the last level, but the reverse of getting back to the last level from clicking the left arrow isn't true. It feels a little asymmetrical, but I'm unsure if it's intentional or not. Great work though!
This game looks and feels amazing! It was pretty fun, too. The controls were a bit wonky for me, though, playing on windows. You can tell the game was predominantly made for android, so the mouse wasn't that responsive. I think it was from lack of feedback when dragging... idk. Great job though! I'll be watching out for yall.
Nice and clean art! Difficulty wasn't too high so I was able to complete all the levels, which is perfect for a jam game. I think since it's a puzzle game, the timer really doesn't go well with it. It felt like moving the blocks around lacked some feedback.

Very polished, great vizuals, had fun with it, have the urge to play it on mobile device at least one more time!
Awesome game! Altough the concept is a bit simplistic, I really loved it! For a jam game the amount of polishing is amazing. Beautiful artwork and aesthetics, nice music and fun levels. Good job!
Great game! The art style and the mood are very good. All the game is very polished too. Good job!
Once again, thank you all, it's really heartwarming seeing our work appreciated π₯°
@madrededios : One of the next steps for our team (we just had our first birthday on this edition of the LD ! π) is getting our licence for publishing on the **Play Store**, so don't be surprised if you find the game on it in a near future π
@moski : Thanks for this rather complete feedback π If you want to follow the rest of our work you can find us on **Twitter** (https://twitter.com/Reality_Blind) and **Facebook** (https://www.facebook.com/RealityBlind/) π
@papabirb : It was intended to be the case, but I didn't pay attention that it cycles back only if the previous level is unlocked (1 to 16 is impossible in this case), instead of checking and going to the last unlocked level π
@pranjalbisht : The game was first meant to be a **"race against the clock while solving puzzles"** (you had a few seconds before the game releases the prisonners) but we then dropped out the idea, solving a puzzle is more satisfaying if you have the time to first think about how you will do it, the timer is the only thing from this idea that is still in place, and it will be removed to a "move counter" which will better fit the new gameplay π We also will add **feedback for the blocks**, clouds coming from underneath when moving will do the trick !

The graphics look good, the audio and sound effects fit the game. I really appreciate the ingame tutorial. An options menu would be nice. It was annoying that I couldn't drag the belts multiple blocks.. But overall a really nice and polished entry.

Very good game for a ludum dare!! It is amazing how detailed it is to be done in 72 hours.
Superb! Excellent art direction, sound, and the puzzles were challenging without requiring hair-pulling. The little bits of polish here and there (wiggly safrificees, yells when they get close to the holes, etc) really up the bar compared to most jam games. (And the Android build is much appreciated!)
This is exactly the type of mobile game I like. Fell right in that "Just one more" state. Graphics are awesome, sound is great. Expected to have a move counter instead of a timer (which I see you will change in future versions). Great job!
Great work! I agree with the idea that the timer should be a move counter instead, which would fit the gameplay better. Simple concept, but fun and amazingly executed in such a short time. Love the graphics :) I hope we'll see it on the Play Store soon with more levels!

This game has an astonishing level of polish. I'm very impressed. The visuals and sound are spot on. Smooth animation and gameplay as well. The implementation seems flawless. My only complaint is that the game was too easy. Amazing job!
Well done! This is a great game which could be expanded with more levels definitely. I think, however, at the moment it's a little lacking on mechanics, so if you do expand it make sure to add some more gimmicks. Additionally, I feel like the theme of sacrifice wasn't incorporated into the gameplay at all which makes it seem a little generic. However, for what it is it is expertly created and I eagerly await what you create next.
Wow! So many levels, nice music and sound effects. The art and design is stunning. This was made in 3 days!?
Wow, what an amazing game! Wonderful graphics, cool soundtrack & sfx, the game concept itself is quite unique and innovative. You made an amazing job in 72h! I'd like to know how many people worked on this. Congratulations! :D
From a polish perspective it's great. Just let down by poor controls on Windows.
@catamariii : We will work on a new version for the Play Store (soon I hope, as for now we have two other games which needs to be polished), with new levels, and of course new mechanics π
@callavicka : It was intended to have more mechanics, but we did not had time to implement them sadly. For a polished version we already have ideas on what we can add (the prisonners could come from multiple points, more than one prisonner could be send, some of the conveyors could break after a prisonner have passed, forcing you to move another conveyor to fill in the hole, etc)
@skiddings : Actually less than 3 days, we had a hangover on the first day and were not really productive that day π
@game-mon : We are 3 in our team, there's my best friend, who is a UI and background artist and designed the levels, my girlfriend who is character designer and animator, and I'm in charge of the coding, music and sound effects π
@captainpilot : Yeah, sorry for the Windows controls, the game was too mobile focused, next time I will develop different controls if different platforms are targeted π

Another insanely polished and amazing ludum dare entry! Loved it (i kinda hope it'll be developed further in the future)
Quite engaging! Ridiculously polished for a game jam! Good job! I miss a 'click' sound for when I move the pieces.
Your game was played on my stream ( twitch.tv/ursagames ) for the second day of Ludum Dare streams - you can find the timestamp of your game here: https://goo.gl/N2rkr8
@ursagames Thanks a lot for the test and your feedback ! π
Nice little puzzle game! I think it is a bit easy maybe.
Great job on music and art! It's amazing how you could come up with such level of polish in just a week-end!
Really love it! Your idea is very original. Well done!
Very simple concept yet really polished, congrats ! Could use a bit more feedbacks on moving the slates and how the game deals with the star rating score, but it's overall a really good jam game, perfectly fit for mobile play.

I already knew it was going to be great, but I was surprised at how well done the levels are, teaching you new tricks along the way. My favourite level was the 13th, with the little airlock you have to do to get the right pieces at the start.
Of course the art is really great and very efficient. This is a professional game right there.
One of the best entries so far.
Fantastic juice and levels of polish in this one, almost feels complete as a mobile game! Playing it on PC, I did wish that I could drag the blocks all the way instead of having to push it one by one.

2018-12-06 19:05
I think the polish was extremely nice - I think the fact that the stars were based on the time meant that I was trying to just replay the levels faster, rather than more efficiently.
My only suggestion would be an efficiency mode - can you solve the level in the least number of moves possible - rather than trying to do this as fast as possible? I feel like that would force you to think through your decisions. I did enjoy it, a lot.
Also, the sound was REALLY loud and there was no way to turn it down, so I had to turn it down from the Windows system tray.
Very classy indeed. A nice theme take on a classic genre. Well done!
@ruba : We use Game Maker Studio 1.4 π
@aurel : That's strange, you're the first one saying that and on all our devices the sound is quiet normal, almost low (even on our good 5.1 the sound was pretty low compared to YouTube musics)
@namnam : You actually have a link to download it on Android π
I will post here a recap of what have been said so far, so you can find the answers to your questions π
π Quick recap on what will change in a future version :
- More levels with **different grid sizes** - More tiles with **specific mechanics** - The timer will change to a **move counter** - **Losing** a level **will not restart** the whole room - **Mouse controls** will be totally reworked - Cloud **feedbacks for the blocks** when they move (and more feedback in general)
Thanks everyone for your interest and feedbacks !
Enjoyable graphics !! The animations and the sound design are lovely. It's a very polish game, congratulations !
Like some said, 13 levels are too short and also they were really easy... Well done !

Looks great and fun with the victim sound.
This even doesn't look like a jam game, it looks fantastic! Great job on graphics, animations, polishing and audio :D Only thing that I missed in a game with this level of polish is fluent movement of tiles, that would be really nice touch. Puzzles are not very challenging but I guess it's targeted for casual players so this is not realy complain, it is how I should be. Amazing work.
This was pretty fun! I really liked the concept, and the graphics- along with the gameplay. Great job!
The game seems really polished - it seems quite complete. As others have said, the controls could be a bit better.
You seem dedicated to make it into full game, yet (and this is personal opinion) it seems very basic to me. The gameplay gets quite repetitive. This is general problem I've had with Ludum Dare games (especially my own games) - they always tend to have too simple concept to build on top of it.
Anyways, I liked the entry and keep up the good work.

Really awesome game, but it could've used a little more variety. Maybe different size levels, multiple people with alternate pathways, and different kinds of blocks. The controls could be improved as well, and dragging didn't feel great. Artwork was great and felt really polished. Also, you could still move blocks after you sacrificed.
Very polished game, felicitations ! C'est pas facile trouver un jeu avec ce type de detaille. La musique et le graphisme, impecable. Bravo !

Clearly looks as if it were designed for mobile. I really liked the art and audio, and the whole concept, though as you said before it might've been a better idea to use a move counter instead of a timer. Good work!
Great and fun entry! I was presented with a black screen with background music when starting the game, but turning off fullscreen helped that.

Technically, this is finished product for me, only more content is needed (but gj for making 13 working lvls in this limited time). Graphics, including animations and sound is top quality. Idea is simple yet effective. Congratulations, one of the best games I've played this LD. I can't really find anything that is bad. Keep up this kind of great work! Cheers :) Interesting comment from @nnikki about using move counter instead of timer, I agree with that.

2018-12-09 14:05
A very good entry, the looks are very polished. You may be able to improve the PC controls by allowing to slide several blocks at the same time.
The level design however was a bit lacking (I know designing puzzle levels is hard, so I donβt blame you! I just hope you can work on better levels for a future release). I thought that only the last level was actually challenging. Most puzzles (except level 7) seem to have a single solution, so itβs pretty easy to guess the final position by starting from the end. It could be interesting to have more than one free tile beside the sacrificial pit in order to increase the complexity.
The level of polish is incredible as is the sountrack and the visuals are lovely. Some other mechanics would be great and/or bigger grids.
I'd also appreciate if the game didn't restart the state on reset (rushed to finish the level only to notice I flipped 2 tiles and had to redo the whole thing, which is a bit tedious) and if there were a seperate reset button. The stars score could also be based on the number of tilemoves as opposed to time.

This game is amazing!! I really love the art style, which is very clean and professional-looking, extremely impressive for a game made in 3 days. The levels are all well-designed and ramp up nicely in difficulty. After finishing the last level I went back and got three stars on all levels. Overall an excellent and polished game!
Fun game, simple mechanics but still provides a moderate challenge. The graphics are definitely a great fit for the game as well, simplistic yet conveying the exact theme you wanted without being too distracting.
Wasn't exactly able to determine where the thresholds for different star ratings were, most levels were really easy to get 3 stars for, and I definitely think you've got a great game foundation to build upon in future updates. You already seem to be planning the few suggestions I had for how to improve upon the base you've clearly nailed down here, so looking forward to seeing more from you!
Love the mix of Pipe Dream and Number Slide puzzle mechanics! The art style was beautiful and I wish we could have seen more of the characters since I really liked their animation style. The controls were a little awkward for computer but I imagine it's perfect for mobile. Great work!
Wow this is super polished for a game jam game! Well done
And excellently polished entry with high quality art and an atmospheric soundtrack. The game itself might be a little too easy though, I think I only got less than three stars once. I think there would have been a little more excitement if the character being sacrificed would get dropped onto the conveyor belt after X seconds, rather than me having to puzzle free of stress and finding out how many stars I got at the end.
Like I said, the art and audio are of a very professional level. My only gripe is that the bottom side of the up/down conveyors isn't shaded similarly to the other blocks, making it look flat compared to the rest.
Overall, a very high quality entry!

Really solid entry. I loved the animations and how well it is prepared for smartphone. Great job
The game was fun and interesting. the theme of the jam is central to this game what is very good. The puzzles are too easy for me but this is more a personal opinion. Overall I like the artwork and style. The game is really polished. Congratz ;)
Wow! What a game! Fantastic graphics, sounds... all! The mood is incredible! Maybe you all can polish the mouse inputs and the interaction with the stairs, now the players don't have the "feeling" that you are dragging squares. Also, the UI distribution can improve, is not too much important the level that you are, but the time YES! Anyway is an amazing polish game! Congrats!! :clap_tone3:

It's a pretty game ! All graphics and sound are really nice. The game is instantly readable and understandable, nice work on UI ! The 13 levels are simple and really fun !
There is just a point on the theme, I don't feel the theme around the mechanics but only around the graphics. It can change wildly and fit to another theme. It's also an opportunity to have more mechanics in a completely different universe.
Otherwise, you've develop the game for every platform, it's huge ! You've prioritize the number of platform to reach a larger number of player, it's well designed !
Well done for the team !
First of all, from a polish standpoint it was top notch. 5s all around or art and audio. I didn't notice any bugs or anything like that which is great. I just have two main pieces of criticism.
First, the theme didn't really play at all into the gameplay at all. These could have been conveyor belts could have been reskinned to carry anything, and there is nothing about the game itself that relates to sacrificing. Second, The lack of mechanics . There is only so much you can do with your setup of sliding conveyer belts on a small grid, and I think you covered almost all of them already in 13 levels. Everything is just a little simplistic and unambitious on the gameplay front for my taste.
That said, It is super polished and I am amazed at what you were all able to accomplish in just a short time.
2018-12-16 21:46
Super solid, played all the way though. The puzzles were challenging but not too challenging. This is a solid build
Great job with this one. The controls are a bit funky since you just kind of click and drag with no visual indicators, but it still flows pretty well. The game felt nice to play. I got to level 11 before stopping. It was hard to keep playing without knowing how many levels total there were (I see now that the comments suggest 13). No real complaints overall. This is a solid entry.

Great game! Wasn't too challenging, and I beat all 13 levels! I enjoyed the experience, especially the little shivery animation + sound effect before the guy gets sacrified.
Not gonna repeat the praise from previous comments, it's great all around, so some very minor nitpicks: - Each stage was 3 stars, but I wasn't really sure what the star rating was for, since I got 3 stars for all. Is it for the timing? - I assume timing is for star rating, since it doesn't seem to be tied to any mechanic e.g. countdown timer. But I can easily reset and the timer goes back to 0. Maybe keep the timer running? - I would've liked the option to be able to speed up the sacrifice animation (I'm too impatient to wait 5-10 seconds to see the guy slide down the conveyor :) - Might be better to package it as an ELF executable instead of a .deb for Linux, since that's mainly for Debian based distros (even though I was also able to unpack it on Arch) - This game should be played on mobile, I understand that. I played on PC though, and the mouse controls got abit tiring with the click dragging.
Again, want to highlight these are my personal minor nitpicks, it's still an awesome entry. Good job!
Simple but short and sweet. There's a nice package here to expand upon!
- Changing to a move counter (as you are already planning to) would definitely provide a lot more replay value for people who find the base puzzles to be on the simpler end. Figuring out the general solution to these puzzles was generally quite straightforward, but optimizing for move count seems like it would be very nontrivial! - I know this was totally outside the scope of the jam itself, but if you plan on improving the PC version, I think keyboard controls would handle **quite** nicely, with a single key (space or something) to "pick up" and place an active piece, and arrow keys to move it around. I'm sure I could blaze through most of these puzzles with that option.
Small feedback aside, I love the theme and look you guys have managed to deliver on. Great job!
Nice to have an android option, which is what I have rated. I am going to keep it on my phone even though I am running out of memory. That is my review, high praise indeed! Great work.

How is it possible to create something like this in that short time o.O It looks and feels amazing and the sfx and music is nice too. Very very nice :D Like it a lot!

Great presentation, animations, sprites, colour scheme, audio were all really nicely polished. Controls felt unresponsive due to the lack of real time feedback and because I had to click multiple times to move something further than one block. Levels got a bit repetitive quickly and I didn't really feel challenged most of the time. I think that I "got it" pretty early on and then the game didn't add anything new. There were some strange flickering issues on texts. I'm not sure why. I played it on a windows 10 PC.
Your idea to change the timer to a move counter sounds like a good plan! The timer did nothing for me, personally ^^ Optimizing move count would be an interesting challenge though.
Good luck with further development!

Looks very well polished, the graphics were cute. I wished there was more variation in the levels β different mechanics, switches, etc. As it is, there is a nice amount of levels, but they start to feel monotonous after the ~sixth one. Also I wasn't sure about the timer β the restart button resets the timer, so you can keep clicking it until you know the solution (if you really want to bother abusing this β¦). For a puzzle game like this I would think a turn counter would be better. Good job overall :)
 The graphics were very well done, they looked great and made what the player had to do easy to understand.
:point_right: It would have been nice if the game had another mechanic... as it is only level 13's switch at the bottom engaged my thinking as a sliding puzzle, and the conveyor layout was trivial. Sliding the pieces around was a bit difficult since they could only move one tile per click.
:star: Overall good job, and thank you for making this.
Nice work keep it up!
I disagree with the "lack of variety" complaint because it's a jam game. (My personal approach to this issue is procedurally-generated content. It's a little trickier to do with a puzzle like this but not impossible.) The graphics and theme were great.
A suggestion for non-mobile play control would be to permit dragging as far as you want, or to pop up directional arrows on a click so a move is click-click that you can manage quickly. Repeated short drags are particularly challenging with a trackpad.
Good game! I actually have it on my phone now

Very polished! The graphics are well made and animated and the game mechanics are solid.
I was wondering whether the stars should be given based on time or based on moves. That would force the level design to be a little different to allow a few solutions.
All in all, really good work!
The game looks very good and the screams are a nice touch. The art style fits this type of game very well. The theme was there but it's not really a player sacrifice which is more interesting in my opinion. I also think the core puzzle mechanic is too easy to make the game truly engaging. Overall a very well polished game but the puzzle mechanic lacks depth.
