LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Wallace by MaximBegunov 2018-12-04T08:23:09Z

Short but sweet! Mole glitched on me a few times, but cool concept!

Everything in this game feels really good. Although I'm torn between making the ship snappier and making it easier to kamikaze! And I absolutely love that art, the radar and spawn point are highlights. I only wish there was an end screen or stats screen, and maybe some power ups. But overall, great.

Very fun! A few things (these are mainly nitpicks, things that I would change, nothing serious): if you could change the abilities to buttons that would auto-use them like spacebar and e would be helpful and then I would probably use them more. I accidentally found out that the second ability can grab people from a distance, explaining that either through tutorial or gameplay would be helpful. There isn't much feedback for hitting enemies, maybe a health bar or knockback (knocking alive enemies into the pit would be cool). Also health didn't matter, I never died in level 1. And the camera is too zoomed in, I never got a feel for the level. Overall I like the artstyle, which reminds me of human fall flat (and i love the souls icon). And I like the excecution, a lot of games are about sacrificing people but this one makes it fun with the physics and artstyle.

Very nice graphics, but the game play is very stale. Even 13 levels of just slide puzzles without any new mechanics felt drawn out.

Cool game! I would recommend also hosting a download option for those with slower computers (me). Otherwise I would work on the camera, for most of the game it's zoomed in too much and when it changes it zooms in more, usually this doesn't affect it too much but for platformers people usually like to see where to jump very early.

Running Low by Daniel Grinshpon 2018-12-03T23:36:34Z

Pretty fun, the window sizing things confused me at first, but setting the resolution down helped. There seems to be a conflict of goals going on between killing spiders and surviving. Not being able to do one without doing the other. Which sounds like a perfect game for the theme "sacrifices must be made". It kind of falls flat in the arcade genre, which I'm assuming it's going for, because of how low the replay-ability is. Otherwise, very nice for a first entry!

Use velocity for player movement. look up gamesplusjames on youtube for some tutorials

Hungry God by fzillo 2018-12-04T21:40:54Z

Love them graphics! Also the audio in this game makes me happy :) I would only add one thing (and I know this is a big one) Progression. This is a huge change but I see potential in this game. You have to sacrifice things to help the people of your island. Sacrifice some chickens and they get food, sacrifice trees and there's a river. What I'm trying to get at here is give us a reason to sacrifice these things, some motivation to keep our villagers happy :)

@pukami Currently my unity crashes when I try to export it to anything but windows. But I'll try on another computer.

@jaydonteh Thanks! There is an ending, and while I wouldn't call it Shakespeare it does hint at Rat Vs Bird V 1.1! (Hint: New enemies, new areas, new everything!)

@kaldrin glad you didn't hate the manual fire lol, I was worried about what kind of feedback I would get.

@hukee slight oversight on my part, that will be on my list of changes to add in 1.1

@spigaru Thank you! Also frenetic, just looked it up, very accurate and thanks for some new vocabulary!

@planschi Thanks! I has a lot of fun making art for this game. I'm still disappointed with the title screen though. Due for an upgrade

@xphere Hmm, if it's really bad I would recommend switching your projecting options by pressing Windows+P and set it to second screen or first screen only. I also have two monitors but the transition area is at the bottom left. Also, thank you
