LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Santa frowns to town by tanis 2018-12-05T01:19:32Z

First things first, loved the music and the spritework. The game itself is a bit repetitive though as you have well enough time to wrap all the presents and the difficulty never ramps up. With some ramp up in difficulty and maybe some variation in the kind of packages, boxes and wrappers you need to make this could be a lot of fun. Nice job!

Sacrifice^3 by simonhutchinson 2018-12-05T01:09:12Z

Great concept! Not quite sure how much it fits the theme but thats fine, it stands on it's own. The particles and bloom together are so pretty and I found myself playing just to see more randomized splashes. I could see this game going far if the level(s) was corridors and rooms instead of a big flat square since a lot of the time I wasn't sure if I was moving and where I was going. Nice job and hope to see more of this!

For the Team! by Ale 2018-12-05T00:57:41Z

This game makes me happy! Using your own team as keys makes all of them really valuable which is great. as previously stated, the key bind doesn't really work for regular people but of course this can be tweaked. Loved the art, the ant people seriously creeped me out. Some more work and I could see myself playing it a lot! Nice job!

Perilous Passage by Nick Rafalski 2018-12-03T03:59:22Z

For such a short and simple game, it was far more enjoyable than I would've guessed. Especially loved the soundeffects! (although one small thing i would change: Bridge collission so you can bump them to save more cars)

Greedy Slime by irwatts 2018-12-05T02:27:12Z

As this is more of an experiment in tool usage and less of a game I'm going to treat it as such (Because collission issues and exploits are boring). I'm really interested in how you got the slime so.. slimey. I guess. It looks amazing, and the way coins pile up inside it is great. I got some spazzy behaviour when doing quick movements which I am sure you will figure out. Don't know if these are visible at 60hz but I got them at 144hz. All in all a very interesting experiment and I am excited to see wheere you take this slime in the future. Nice job and gl!

Coyote's Satiation by boblova 2018-12-05T02:14:05Z

Very interesting concept and seems like you had a lot of fun making this. A lot of the previous comments I do agree with but as they have already explained the issues and given examples of fixes I don't have too much to add. Congrats on completing the game in time and keep making games, I think you're gonna do great!

Bloop Bloop! by Meenners 2018-12-03T04:16:04Z

I have literally no idea what i just played.. It was fun tho! :D

Defuse by Andrew Garcia 2018-12-03T04:26:26Z

Were this to cost, say 2.50 Euro I would buy it. Straight up. Only things I found odd were that there's no confirmation of when a module is done (guessing that would screw up some of them), as well as the blank ending. Otherwise a brilliant little game!

Slime Venture by MRUniverse 2018-12-05T00:44:02Z

As a concept, I think this is brilliant. An easy to learn puzzle game and 2d platformer at the same time! I found the only strange design decision to be the momentum based movement, makes it unnecessarily hard to solve the "puzzle" which I would've made the main gameplay mechanic (this might be subjective). Would also like to see some distinction as to where the goal is, got confused as to where I'm heading a few times. Excited to see where this goes, nice job!

Ludum Dare: The Game by Darylsteak 2018-12-03T05:35:26Z

Why did this game explain my life the last 48 hours?

Sacrificio Inc. by Reality Blind 2018-12-05T03:11:26Z

I played through all 13 levels without even thinking about it. Beautiful little casual puzzle game with a lot of potential as a mobile app. Everything is spot on except for the clunky mouse controls but as a mobile game it will be brilliant. Nice job! Excited to see where you take it :)

Land's Sacrifice by Benjamin123 2018-12-05T00:12:14Z

Was really interested but sadly, the windows version seems flawed. Getting a similar issue to @jared-york but got a little further but without most important gameplay mechanics. Really a shame as the idea seems fun!

To The Slaughter (LD43) by snakemuho 2018-12-03T15:52:34Z

Hardcore is just the first name. This is the only thing I would balance, make it a little bit more fair for new players (maybe I'm just bad). Devil daggers is a game which would be good to look at for this. Otherwise brilliant little game and had to physically stop myself from restarting in the end!

(Added to collection on itch.io ;D)

To The Slaughter (LD43) by snakemuho 2018-12-03T16:15:28Z

@snakemuho Mind if I make a video on it? Really did enjoy myself!

Maze of Death by hamrathdoesldjam 2018-12-05T02:52:57Z

First of all I'm intrigued you went through the effort of writing it for C64! Never got to use one but I've wanted to for ages and this gave me a taste of the experience :) Played it for a while and having to remember the route I took made exploring more exciting since I couldn't just run through it (at first). Having to do the same route over and over again was rough on my hand and in my 3rd run I got as far as the picture below shows before I had to take a break. Skärmklipp.PNG Loved the concept and had fun. Hope this project doesn't end here!

The Awful adventures of Awful Dave in Awful 3D World by Captain Tyx 2018-12-03T13:22:48Z

All the models are really funny, but cant kick em bc my pinky is too weak. Try to think about where the player will have their hands on the keyboard next time.

The Awful adventures of Awful Dave in Awful 3D World by Captain Tyx 2018-12-03T13:35:40Z

@captain-tyx I'm using a qwerty keyboard, had movement on wasd, attack on left ctrl(mouse left click didn't work), and special on mouse right click. Since you don't use the mouse for position or rotation, I would avoid using it for key input. Try using keys on the opposite side of the keyboard, like jkl; or control the character with the mouse (movement, rotation or both!)

Running Wild by Jannick Larsen 2018-12-05T01:32:59Z

Most complete game I've played in this jam so far! Visuals were great, audio was fitting, gore was *fleshed* out and I had a lot of fun making my gang walk in troop. Only things I reacted to were the camera not being moveable and stuck in an angle that doesn't let you see the full gang when you're orienting them and the cops having aim comparable to stormtroopers (lol). Will play this a lot more if the camera issues get fixed. Very nice job!

God of Indecisiveness by JakobTheQuizGuy 2018-12-03T13:54:29Z

What this game needs is an infinite mode (with god changing mind as other commenter said) that speeds up a lot quicker. This is a rythm game i can get behind!

Do It for Their Sake by SuperGamersGames 2018-12-03T03:24:26Z

Gave up on level 3/4.. Had fun but got a little confused when i dropped in and couldn't move. Simple to learn, hard to master: like a puzzle game should be.

Into the abyss by Snecko 2018-12-03T03:46:33Z

Got super interested in what, where and why i was; but struggled with figuring out what was killing me. Otherwise very compelling!

Slime MUST Survive by NinjaCatz 2018-12-03T13:44:16Z

Cute and hard little game, slime sprite looks wonderful!

cube mob by mbc 2018-12-03T04:41:34Z

Seeing the cubes fumble around was surprisingly fun. Only time I felt frustration was when a cube got stuck on what seemed like flat terrain. Graphics being simple isn't an issue, but some music would make it feel more complete! Oh and please do tell, does the amount of cubes entering the goal effect anything? Thanks! :)

Jim's Limb's by JoblessOrc 2018-12-05T00:17:50Z

Was really interested in the conscept but got confused when the player flew around at 500 mph. I have my suspicions on what may be causing this and I would love to talk to you guys and polish it up!

Fireboy by Cristiano T. 2018-12-03T15:00:50Z

Really like the concept, fits the theme perfectly! Suggesting some changes: make fire not collide with fireboy, and make the final bossfight more obvious. (had some issues with figuring out how to hurt him) Like the camera control but I would lower it a little to increase the difficulty and to balance it, add an arrow pointing straight to the boss. This is subjective though. Nice Job!

Time Out by CodeKim 2018-12-03T04:27:40Z

@sarwin I totally agree. Had planned to only go for jam, but had an almost complete game 15 minutes before Compo ended so decided to call it.

Time Out by CodeKim 2018-12-03T14:12:01Z

@titorrm Yeah struggled with that and then ran out of time, thanks!

Time Out by CodeKim 2018-12-04T14:08:06Z

@dougdevs First of all thanks for the extensive feedback! 1: Totally agree! Ran out of time lol.. 2: Yeah it's a bug with how i did the rotation, if the angle can be say 15 and -15 at the same time, it flips between them. Wanted to figure it out but ran out of time. 3: Wanted to show an E when an objective or button was in range, but it always looked weird so left it out. Totally agree though. 4: Yeah I only had myself to test the difficulty with, and the game was supposed to be THPS objective styled in the beginning, where you could go back and finish goals to get a better score and unlock more levels. Sadly ran out of time.. 5: Figured out that I could probably just set the reticle sprite as a custom cursor after it was built and turned in haha Hoping to fix these things and polish it to release a 2.0 version!

Time Out by CodeKim 2018-12-04T14:09:38Z

@captain-tyx yeah I agree about the jumping mechanic, needs some work. Thanks!

Time Out by CodeKim 2018-12-04T14:10:32Z

@boundtotheearth haha yeah I figured it would be. That's what happens when you work on your own and use yourself as a playtester.. Gonna tweak it for version 2.0! Thanks :)

Time Out by CodeKim 2018-12-05T18:03:19Z

@ale yeah I was creating my own tilemap and tried to give it a bit more depth. Something to keep practicing it seems :) Thanks!

Time Out by CodeKim 2018-12-05T18:04:50Z

@simonhutchinson we'll see, had some issues making it work. I'll look at it if you can't play the windows version :)

Cold Galaxy by PixelMeal 2018-12-05T00:33:30Z

Giving me some serious ftl vibes, but more fast paced and of course completely fits the theme. Some more confirmation on decisions, a pop up like "-10 stability (50 --> 40)" would make it easier to follow your actions. Cargo drop of felt kind of arbitrary as you never know where you're bringing it. Choosing a planet type for each unique cargo and tracking it would bring a clear goal and let the player choose their path better. Had a great time anyhow and the game looks great too for being mainly text based. Well done! (34 days is my record lol)

Manik Hungers by TwoPM 2018-12-03T04:11:20Z

Quite difficult, but guessing that has something to do with camera control and collissions. Really felt like I deserved to be sacrificed in the end for being so bad at jumping haha.

Baby Grenade by publicidadeba 2018-12-05T02:05:39Z

This game was so weird. I mean probably the weirdest game I've played on pc. Disregarding being weirded out and most likely scarred for life, I did enjoy the voxel graphics and the lovely music. Great voice acting as well lol! I don't even know how to give feedback on this but if anything: baby grenades spawn far too slowly, most of the time I had one grenade on the other side of the map which means luck plays a big part after the first ones have been used which means instant death. Great job but wow am I confused..
