NICE! GREAT! When I saw your update post I wanted to play that game! So as I can see I'm first! This game is awesome like as I thought. The use of the theme is just genius! Great job! Good Luck. :sparkles:

@falak Thank you! This is actually the fastest I've had someone play my game after posting it. Appreciate the praise and support!
Quite accurate. It is fun to play and the concept is quite good. Playing it while I should be making my game!
@sockyman Cheers for liking it, and good luck!
I like it! Although I don't understand what the polish button does? Or is that the joke? haha nice meta game!
please release a web version!
Truely this is art imatating life. I coded and coded and coded and the only thing that stops me from coding is debuging and hunger. I really like this game.
@pandan The polish button is pretty much the same as the 'code game' and 'debug' buttons. In game deving terms its basically making the game more pretty, user friendly etc.
Just ment to add variety, nothing more. And the more polish the better your rank will be.
@folex70 I don't really know if clickteam fusion can port to the web, can try tho but don't hold high hopes.
@theseusinabottle Lest you are a god, those two would hold you back forever.
And lack of motivation, that too.
LoL I didn't join this LD but now I think I just did. That felt like going through a Game Jam without anything to show for. Hilarious.
@glen-chang Well then thats atleast the 'humor' front settled, thanks for playing and sharing your experience!
@folex70 Sorry but the web thing is kinda outside of my skill level, since I've never dabbled in web design before.
Maybe next time.
Nicely done, very accurate ๐ .
Why did this game explain my life the last 48 hours?
@acoto87 Thank you for the opinion and the praise!
@codekim It can't be that bad, can it? Wish you good luck and a satisfactory life.
You're selling to the right audience here, that's for sure! A simple and well polished management game. I wish it were possible to know a little more about what goes into deciding if I make progress or not, because I sure didn't make much. Also sad that I got dumped and disowned :/
@squirmonkey Well its good to know this game is heading into the right direction.
'I wish it were possible to know a little more about what goes into deciding if I make progress or not'
Now that's an idea, a good one, might add a lil decision (or something) screen every time you finish something. Thanks!
And don't worry, it's the game that counts.
**Right?**
Oh, really cool idea, lol:) Seems like one of the best ideas at this LD(in my opinion:)). Oh, itโs like the life sim about last two days) Itโs definitely the highest โhumorโ mark, as for me:)
@erendelous Thanks for letting me know how you feel about the game, feedback is important.
Can you please use itch.io and not Dropbox for uploading games? You said that there would also be a Linux game in the description, now I can't find it...
I'll use Wine in the meantime, the game sounds cool.
Great game! Too bad it didn't have sounds though...
> Too lil features. Quite a few bugs. Needs more polish.
Hey there! First game I'm playing this LD. I really like the game idea, fits the theme perfectly. The dialogue was very funny in places, which is always nice! Usually I try to leave at least one idea of how to improve the game, but I really can't think of anything. Both execution and design are very solid in my opinion.
Overall, I really like the charm of what you created here. Nice job.
This game feels like the nightmare version of game jamming. I'm not sure if it's actually meant to be strategic because there is no feedback on why work didn't progress or how helpful it was to take breaks. It could easily be something very calculated that you have to puzzle out with a combination of delay timers(e.g. you can look at your calendar to see when the special events happen, and taking them will give you a stat boost that you can plan around; sleeping at night is more effective than sleeping during the day, and so on) and bonuses for following a certain priority (e.g. the code->debug->polish cycle is faster than others).
Also, it should model the part where you choose between advertising your game with blogspam and rating and commenting on other people's games.
@stepan-shabalin I can work on moving the game download to an Itch.io page, but it would take some time, gimme a few moments and ill get to work. I also apologize that I forgot to note that **to run the game on Mac and Linux, you would need something like Wine**.
@apace Thanks for the feedback!
@triplefox Yeah, the game was kinda built based towards the nightmare side of game jamming, there was some thought given to the other side, but out of worry for the project spiraling out of control was quickly dropped. As for more complex strategic decision making part, most of the ideas you pointed out are very good - including the last paragraph - but to properly incorporate these I would need to re-plan the entire game from the bottom, since the current version of the game wasn't made with such things in mind, and things can quickly get messy adding all these features without a proper plan. In fact, I might as well remake the entire game from stratch, not that im against it.
Nonetheless, thank you very much for honestly voicing your opinion, I appreciate it.
@stepan-shabalin Forgot to mention, there is in fact sound and music and everything, maybe its because of Wine?
**Download links have been moved to an Itch.io page!**
@darylsteak yup, it probably is so
I've seen many LD-themed LD games, and this one is the most accurate one I ever played.
@teapoly Thanks, that means I nailed the 'feel'.
Although it would be kinda sad for LD in general if that was the case
Nice game! I got really hyped with your posts during the event :)
@daniel-abeleira Thanks, im happy not only I was hyped about the game!
can you make a mac version :)
@darylsteak hey man i know what "polish" means in devving terms. haha I guess what I meant is the polish button wasn't functioning.
@pandan It does, atleast on my side, can you by chance send a screenshot or gif showing what you mean't?
@james-leib I'll see bout it :>
@james-leib Sorry James but... Clickteam Fusion is rly kinda old and I have no idea how to set up the Mac Exporter.
Sorry, but you're gonna need to stick to Wine for now.
Was just sleeping and coding the entire time, pretty accurate representation of what happened
lol๏ผI'm comments a ludum dare game made in ludum dare. Really cleaver idea and I love play sim game. Your game is one another game I rate high star. Overall, Great job!
@snakemuho Welp, I just ate and coded, so not much different here. Thanks for playing!
@sanyingli Thank you for the high star! I am thankful that you played my game, wish you good luck.
The vibe of this game is pretty good! I loved the ratings, It remembers me of Game Dev Tycoon and the comments on my games in the first jams I joined  Good job!
Incredible! I loved that life intervenes with your project!
Got disowned :( Really liked the rest of the game though!!! It was an interesting idea with a very nice art style! You definitely deserve high ratings!
I like the concept! I'm not really sure what the polish and cut content do because they don't seem to have any effect? Or maybe that's their intended becaviour? The comments at the end are too real
That is awesome! I really liked the graphics and the idea. Just a few notes: The cursor was the same color as the buttons, so I couldn't always tell where the cursor was. Also, what does that polish button do?
@pxlucasf Thanks for the feedback. The comments at the end were on of the favorite parts of the game for me, since it feels like people are somewhat actually kinda responding to you.
@gamers-blood-entertainment Thanks. The 'life intervenes' part is actually based on some of my previous jams were life got massively in the way (only the family reunion actually happened). Hopefully never again!
@august1413 Thanks for the high praise, promise I won't let you down!
@fullmontis I will need to investigate that 'polish and cut content' don't work part, since they really should. Thanks for letting me know!
@eldemarkki Ah, the cursor.... couldn't tell.... Well theres something to fix there, thanks for telling! Also, regarding the 'XXX doesn't do anything' problem, just keep clicking, for some reason sometime the clicks won't register, even after clicking for quite awhile. Sorry!
Great ! Feels accurate x) The reviews and ranking at the end are perfect x) A little UI drift bug occured when i played in max resolution(1440p) on the "real life" panels.
AMAZING GAME! Love the truth in the way the game plays, lets hope that my game for this jam isn't as bad as the way I played this xD Love the idea and usage!
@eryph Those review at the end are the fav part of the game for me, they add a lil life you know?
Oof, a bug, although I kinda didn't plan for <> 1980p, im honored you played anyway.
@owen-davies Don't worry! You grind away hard enough with enough determinations along with high expectations, and I assure you will hit a mark higher than you planned for. Good luck!
**I need to go to bed now, will reply to comments after more than a coupla hours**
I tried to make similar concept last year (Project Madness). Well I have to admit your game is way more polished. Great entry.
Loved the concept. It truly showed me that I have to commit to my project fuck sleeping and eat, right?
**I'm back!**
@iluvatar Thanks, maybe next jam you can do even better than mine! Who knows?
@racyrebel Well at least in real life you can have the best of both worlds!
If you're in a team that is.
If not well then good luck, im sure you can pull it off healthily. Thanks for the comment!
It is great! but hard to read..
@apccr Thanks for telling me, ill make a larger version in the future.
I got disowned by everyone I knew, but it was worth it.
@spidermonkeylord For the game, anything is worth it! Thx for playing!
Very realistic. I feel the pain of this guy.
Welp, at least your not the one suffering it.
Looks like the game about my weekend :-) Great!
@sargonius Thank you!
It was too bad I couldn't get a better rating even after making more sacrifices. Also, interesting there wasn't a drink coffee and not sleep option, haha, I know that is how a few people do Ludum Dare. I was so focused on the buttons that I was not paying too much attention to the screen, so while the graphics were nice, it was a little tough to appreciate them. There might have been a way to optimize what you were doing but I was not really seeing it. Still it was a fun game and maybe the message is, no matter what you do you'll get the same rating, so might as well just take every distraction that comes along.
Too real. Never have enough time for debugging and polish.
@dk5000p Hah, if that's what you think then that's what it is, even if it was not intended so. As for the coffee, no sleep and optimizing-your-game-development within the game (there isin't actually a way sadly), I'll see to it if there ever is a sequel. Appreciate the feedback!
@jeremy-ryan Shame, thanks for playing!
@darylsteak It was fun, haha. I just relate too strongly to the guy in the game. I always run out of time and don't get enough sleep.
Points for realism!
This a just great! Super funny, and very, very true at the same time. I think I am going to send this to all of my friends now when they ask me that the Ludum Dare is.
One thing I will say is that it some more sound effects, and maybe some more pop up text of what is being coded / debugged could have spiced it up well. (For example, when you are not getting anywhere, a pop up printing a stack trace). But you already had a good amount of that, and maybe more would have over-done it. Anyway, the result is great!
Keep up the amazing work!!
@artur-hawkwing Thank you for the praise, and about the coded / debugged text, I disagree..... I think their a great idea! And one that would not have over-done it.
Hell had I gotten the idea before I posted the game I would have added it for sure! Considering I still had about 2 hours left. Some more sound effects also can't hurt.
Thank you for playing! And say hi for me to all your friends as well.
This game is essentially Ludum Dare. Love the art and game, there was some off-centre phone text (Pick-up / ignore) but was nice and smooth other than that.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, I love how you captured the essence of LD in game form (And I'm now disowned by my family).
Thank you for sharing your game with me. I played it on my stream tonight at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames
I have rated your game, but all of my feedback was captured in the stream.
You can hear my comments in the archive at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/344422214
Nice compo, like in previous comments you managed to transcribe the feelings we all have during a GameJam. Nice work ! When you have some time, come rate our game.
good idea and the graphic is really wonderful! But always get a little bad ending? As i find that people on ludom dare are all so friendly, anyway nice concept and relaxing game, good job!
@saoi-games Thank you! Live feedback or recorded feedback is always some of the most valuable. Also sorry to hear that you were sick over the weekend.
Theres is also a second Ludum Dare:The Game, of the same name that is very good, you should go try it as well, not mine of course: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/ludum-dare-the-game-1 . Im also sorry about all the 'didn't make progress' moments, its based on how high your necessities meters are, the higher they are the more likely you will prgress.
Unfortunately this is pretty RNG based, and luck is not always win one lose one.
Once again, thanks for playing, and good luck!
@kanacell, Thanks for conveying your feelings of the game, and I will gladly come and play to the game you guys made!
@joker-v,thanks for playing! As for the little bad ending, the more blocks (or tiles) you make by coding, the better the ending will be, which is kind of hard considering how RNG based progress is.
Really like the style and humor is great! Great work:)
Nice game, but I don't know how to create a top 10 game. What is the strategy? Nevermind. In the real life I don't know how can I create a good game, too :D
@madhumster Thank you!
Great game! Everybody feels like this, I think. I find it a little confusing develop buttons, but maybe it is because I'm not a programmer and I don't fully understand how coding works
Congrats!
Nice meta theme :)
I love the high level of polish, especially how the scene changes as time passes.
Perhaps the game mechanics could be tweaked a little to make the decisions feel more important.
For example: * Sleeping/eating/gaming refills the whole bar, can't be interrupted, clears progress on the current feature. * The success rate % is visible and decreases with the 3 other stats (player decides whether to stop or keep going until the feature is done). * Building a feature takes less time (seeing feature cubes drop is rewarding, I'd give the chance for more).
Overall, well done!
Really good. Tons of possible features to expand it. I love how it fits the theme in a non direct way.
I think there's a little bug. I played Compo and them started a Jam 4 months ago but started with no refilled bars - the same I finished a compo with. It's not breaking tho.
Goodjob!
What a great game! Congrats!
Really funny game - reminds me to "Game Dev Stoy" in some cases^^
The polish button disappeared for me and then people complained that my game wasn't polished enough
Yes. This is my life past 3 days)) Even calling friend, offering get some beer with him. I rejected...
Good game. Thanks!)
Enjoyed it, though it was a bit too difficult.
*Too lil features. Quite a few bugs. Not enough polish.*
:)
@spigaru Yeah, and I think the tutorial just made it even more confusing, ill be sure to make gameplay more easy to understand in my future works. Thanks for telling us how you feel!
@fre I agree, game decisions, and to an extend the game itself are quite shallow. I hope to change this in the future. All the possible fixes were also great. Thank you for playing!
@maksym Yep, there are toooons of possibilities for expanding this game, which means I might just re-design and re-make the game in the future, who knows? And yeah, that is one incredibly simple but major glitch to fix, ill get to it! Thx for your feedback!
@vojtiman Thank you, hope you enjoyed!
@neowhoru Thanks for the praise! I guess they are in fact similar in some ways.
@fat-cat Ooof, the polish button vanished? I'll need a screenshot for that. Thanks for pointing that out for me.
@vlad-dae Welp, I hope you guys are still friends after that. Thank you for playing, and I hope you guys have a good friendship!
@spierek Yeah, I need to scale down the difficulty, at least now you actually pointed it out! Thanks!
@maksym Patched it up! Once again thanks for letting me know, hope you have fun rating games :>
@darylsteak ^__^ All my friends know, gamedev for me is most valuable thing)
I may not have friends, a mom who loves me, or a new phone now... but I shipped a LD game =)
@hexbit-josh **The greatest sacrifice of all!** hahaha, hope you had fun, GL in life!
Saw this game in progress and I was looking forward to playing it so I'm glad I finally got the chance! It lived up to my expectations and then some. The only problem I had was that I couldn't quite tell if the debug/polish buttons were doing anything and there were some UI issues where the boxes would be too low and clip through the text. Other than that loved the idea!
The pop-ups were thematic, but didn't tie too much into the gameplay. Overall, it was very simplistic - just click buttons and eat, sleep, and game to make sure you don't fail. Not much thought needed from the player. The pixel art was nice though.
@cr0wns Thanks for anticipating the game and im happy it lived up to expectations! Damn that debug/polish bug keeps coming back to haunt me. Also I've never heard or seen the boxes issue before, hmmmmm (or maybe its just me).
@torn Yeah, the pop-ups were added to kinda drag the theme into the game. I also whole heartedly agree with you that the game was just a bit too simple! (At least in my eyes and I assume yours too) Most of the actions you do have no meaning and overall its shallower than a puddle.
Something I hope to fix in this game's sequel I keep talking about, no guarantee it will appear tho.
Great thanks for the honest feedback!
The game is nice. But I only played twice until I got bored. There is not enough replayability but the concept is innovative.
Dude, it's amazing: we made the same game!
I mean, we had two very different approaches but we definitely started from the same idea, and we chose the same title.
I like the way you did it, but couldn't have good ratings in the end. It's pretty hard!
@najmm Fair enough, thanks for playing!
You don't need to sleep and eat! You only need determination! (based on the personal experience. please do not try this at home)
I loved the visual aesthetic: kinda reminded me of the 90x software era =) and of course, very accurate representation of the LD process. I only wish you could participate as a team and manage the 'what do you mean we are not making a platformer?" when already 48 hours in.
@pantoufle Ah yes I noticed, hell I played your game as well, and in terms of executions yours was better than mine. Great job on it.
Also plan on lowering the difficulty a bit, thanks for the feedback!
@a333 Well, the time for team based game play will come when I get to be in one!
*I wanna join a team too dammit*
The anesthetic was based around games of about that era, and was mostly focused around dithering, glad you liked it! Also, health is important, not that I can say much with 5 hours of sleep!
Thanks for playing!
Absolutely hilarious. I love the implementation of resource management, where you gain/lose something at the same time. Fits in very well with the theme.
@nucleartide Thanks for the praise and playing!
**Need to sleep, will reply to any comments after I wake up**
This is great!!!
Very funny game. Real as life itself hahaha. And it fits the theme perfectly. Congrats!
Cool game!
I think i am better at ludum dare in real life than in this game haha
Nice twist for the theme, congrats on the game.
I liked the seamless mennu you made it's very effective. It took me a while to figure out that "game" meant play video games, who plays during a jam x)
VERY funny game !
Great and fun idea!
You know, if a guy isn't my friend after telling him I'm too busy to hang out, I didn't need that guy anyway. Cool game, though.
I couldn't get people to like my games :(. Just like real life, actually
Ohh! Does art imitate life, or does life imitate art? I liked it! The Code/Cut weren't clear to me at first so I kept on cutting and wondering why it's not helping me progress. (I imagined it as "cut away the excess".) Then I figured it out, and the balancing began!
I'm wondering, are there any secret rewards for doing the popup activities, or does the game reward more if you don't go, by letting you have time?
And I don't know if this was suggested before as there are many comments already (no wonder, it's such a fun/frustrating simulator!), but one small thing I would change is the order of eat/sleep/game and hunger/motivation/sleep so that they would be the same, it would be slightly easier to navigate.
I do like how it fits the theme really well, too!
nice idea bro!!
Cool concept! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if youโd like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/7Oqdb7VuCRQ
Nailed the accuracy, haha! Great game!
Pretty relatable stuff here. I have a feeling it will go over well with your target audience!
Wow, I also made a LD jam simulator haha. We executed the concepts differently but it's crazy how we were on the same page. Enjoyed the game. Hope your jam was less stressful than the virtual jam :)
Accurate ludum dare simulator! Nailed!
Good game but it could be that this was my first ludum dare i didnt understand it lol
Entirely too real! Hah! I guess it comes from a real place, eh?
The look and feel of this is amazing, and the take on the theme is clever. Success felt a bit random, though - it'd be nice if there was more of a link between your stats and the outcome of coding, or at least a more apparent one.
Similarly, having benefits and consequences for your decisions in the pop-up events would make things a bit richer - I know from my LD experience, sometimes I have to leave for something I might resent, but then when I come back to the game dev I'm recharged & reinspired. But sometimes... not.
Really like the art. Strong black and white aesthetic on the UI reminds me a lot of the early Mac OS and dithering always makes everything better.
Fantastic entry! Well deserved praise. I know you claim there are some bugs but I couldn't find them. What a great game that really hits us all right where it counts. lol. I loved being able to simulate skipping on all my responsibilities for once. XD Thanks!
Really accurate XD. Lack of playability, but have a nice concept and innovation. And it fits the theme perfectly lol
Nice one.
**Oh god that's alot of comments to reply to**
@random-wizard Thanks!
@themarioga Thank you! I was hoping to capture the feeling of just life getting into the way of some things!
@arcus Thx!
@xcvzxc Well that's good new isn't it? Thank you for playing!
@anstabo Welp, some do, especially when they reaaaally hate the theme. Also, thanks for complementing the menu! Glad you had fun!
@craftlord Thank you!
@ravarion Some friend are just not worth having! Especially those. Or maybe hes just drunk who knows? Anyway, thanks for playing!
@toast-toaster Oof, you know, let me give you some advice on attracting players:
**One:** ***play*** **and rate games**
Im pretty sure you know this but by playing and rating other people's games, you earn "karma". This gives your game higher priority and places it higher up in the list, letting more people see and potentially play it.
**Two: leave feedback**
Leaving feedback gives you coolness points! This also gives your game higher priority, and a lot more than rating! Just please leave good, honest feedback, people appreciate it.
**Three: advertise via blogs**
At least 80% of my players were from my blog ad campaign. Advertise your game by posting blogs, and make your ads attractive. You want people to go "ooooooooooo", not ignore it. Some variation also helps.
Thats about all the advice I can give you. Wish you luck next time!
@ynneblack Art shall imitate whatever it's creator wants it to! Or at least mostly (cough cough NoManSky). Im sorry that the cut button wasn't immediately clear to you.
Sadly... no... there are no sekret rewards for accepting pop-ups, but I plan to make then have good benefits in the game's remake! Finally, I will change the buttons to make them better suit the player, because the customer is always right.
Thanks for the feedback!
@der-finski Thx for playin!
@jupiter-hadley OOOOOOOOO MY GAME IS IN A COMPILATION, YAY! Thank you! I really thank you for featuring the game in your compilation, I hope you had fun!
@jared-york I nailed everything but the nice side of game jamming! Something to which I hope to add in the game's remake. Thanks for playing!
***When I typed till here the first time I accidentally closed the tab, and had to re-type everything above this line..........FUU-***
@stu I sure hope so! Thx for the opinion!
@silvae And here comes the creator of LD simulator nbr 3! Yes! There are 3 LD simulators! In the same LD! ( https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/ludum-dare-the-game-1 ) And man were the results different. Anyway, thank you for playing! And yes, the real life jam was slightly less stressful, hope yours had none!
@velvetlobster I sure hope so! Thx for playing!
@potatoez Oh it is? Well you should try the real LD one day. I assure you it would be a looot better! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@rjhelms I can safely say the idea was from a real experience! Although yes, success was quite in fact too random, something I need to change in the game's re-make. I also agree on the pop-ups, it could really make the soup tastier! Thanks for playing!
@drevilbrain Thanks! That was kind of the effect I was going for. I also made the person view full colour in an attempt to mix art styles. Hope you had fun!
@kindred , thank you for playing the game on the stream and I greatly appreciate the live feedback. Im sorry I didn't stick around soon after my game was played. I had some stuff I really needed to do... sorry.
@nightvision65 I agree, the playability was baaaad. Thanks for complementing the others tho, and thanks for playing!
@catbutt Thx!
***Done, Jesus this reply list is longer than my post-mortem***
It reminds me of my [game for LD37](https://martincohen.itch.io/fiil-mark-37), so I obviously liked the idea! :D Good job!
This is AMAZING! loved the idea of a Ludum Dare game about the Ludum Dare xD we need more Ludum Dare Simulators!
Hooooooly ...... a lot of activity ... looks like something I should try - at work right now - will try when I can :) and great concept BTW
This was hilariously accurate. Good job. Fun game!
Congratulations. It is a really good idea i like it

Nice game, the sacrifices I made didnt seem to make any difference could never seem to improve my standings. I like the sound effects.
Just like Ludum Dare
Broke up with my phone. 10/10
Interesting one, left me with a "Stanley Parable" sort of vibe. It's like The Sims, if Sims joined game jams and it's a recap of my previous weekend: no friends, no family, just me, my computer, my DAW and my fellow teammates working on our entry for LD43. It was cathartic to say the least. Luckily, my family didn't disown me because of the game jam
Really fun idea, though yeah a bit too real at times. I wish there were some other ways to recharge motivation besides wasting time on a game. Maybe a combo bonus if you get on a hot streak developing? Nothing is more motivating than seeing a project come together. But I honestly had fun with this over several playthroughs. Nice work!
Awesome game, and it's very accurate. Not only did I have to make a game about sacrifices, but I sacrificed spending time with relatives and other life events to enjoy this game making challenge.
From this, I think I learned not to ignore taking breaks from jams~
It was so fun!
I really love it, very nice work! :muscle:
The idea is pretty good, the sounds are very nice and retro, the game graphics are awesome!
Wonderful game, very good job! :v:
Amazing game with cool graphics!)
@martincohen Oooooh! That's a really beautiful game! Props to whoever did the art! Thanks for playing!
@arvejeitor Hah! True, but they say too many chefs spoil the... something (I think it was broth or soup, idk) Ether way Im glad you liked it! Thanks for playing!
@crosenlund79 Yeah, this game got waaaaaaaay more players than I expected, so many I also think I don't deserve. Thanks for wanting to try my game however!
@gerardb Well if you got a laugh out of it then Im happy! Thx for playing!

@digitaldude555 I agree, I never got to implement a more important impact for the sacrifices sadly. Hope you enjoyed tho!
@sockyman Hope it goes better than ingame! Thx for playing!
@totalaj The phone wasn't worth it anyway! Thank you for playin1
@kitarraman Well thats an interesting experience. At least nothing really bad happened during the real life jam (I hope not at least). Thanks for playing! Hope you had fun!
@rumor That's a good idea! And I agree, nothing is more motivating than great progress. Thanks for playing!
@lexyvil You might not need to sacrifice everything for a game jam to be fun. In the end, it's the experience that matters. Thx for playin!
@myfriendtames Thank you for the praise! And thx for playing!
@gri-bel Thx!
Review given :) Fun little spin on luduming ;)
@darylsteak Yeah, the art was done by me ;)
Wow, this is probably the biggest mood I have ever seen. Captures the feeling of participating (other than getting disowned?), and the art was really nice! I liked the balancing part of things. Nice work!
@crosenlund79 Thank you for playing the game! Glad you did in fact played it.
@martincohen Niiiicccceeeeeeeee!
@watdowtal That's good news. I feel that mood within a game is extremely important. And this can be hard to nail because of all the different things that can effect it (scene, music, sound effects etc...). And I admit there were quite a few aspects of game jamming I didn't catch sadly. As for the balancing, I'm glad you liked it! Tho I need to make it less RNG based. Thanks for playing!
I don't think I have to say that this game is very good. Just look at all the comments :P
I did encounter a slight bug though. When my first jam finished I was still coding, and when I started the next jam, I was still doing what I was before. Nothing game breaking at all, just a little thing that should reset after each jam :)
Overall great game!!
Wow, my LDJam weekends looks very similar like in this game! Just less sleep ;-) Funny entry!
I've seen your game in many posts in the feed, so I couldn't resist to keep it a try XD It was fun to play and I think it summarizes the weekend of us all (for me with less gaming tbh :3). Nice idea, and well executed :D I really like the visuals too, simple and minimalistic :)
It really reminds me of my first Ludum Dare experience :) Balance could be better, also I had a few UI glitches. A solid entry overall.
Nice game keep it up!
I actually make a point to inform people about what I'm doing so that I don't get pestered. But other than that, the game was accurate.
Needs more polish
This hits me right in the feels. In my playthrough, I got disowned and blew my friends off but I definitely had time to get laid. 8) I also didn't polish at all, how accurate! I'm such a last minute jammer, working on features and content till the very end!
I really love the implementation of this sim. I really love that you made this. I think my only constructive critique is i wish there was more audio feedback for when you can't click a button/you don't get anything done. I found myself trying to spam click code occasionally and not immediately realizing why I couldn't (lack of motivation or sleep, etc) Then again, that kind of adds to the experience in a way. Was it intentional? To mimic the feeling of not being able to solve a simple bug because you haven't slept in 22 hours and you can't understand why you can't make heads or tails of the problem. (You end up solving it within 5 minutes of looking at it again in the morning. :)
Brilliant! Oh man. This game you made... mmm. It's a good game. I played this several times and I feel like each time was way too accurate than I'm willing to accept. I would love to see a "Spouse and kid" sequel or modifier to this game, cause... that's my Ludum Dare life now. Again, Great job! 10 outta 10!
**Sorry for the late replies, I was on a long holiday. And I wasn't comfortable typing them on my phone. Anyway:**
@drikdrok Oh, that bug... I though I fixed it actually, oh well. Thx for pointing it out though! And thx for playing!
@wdebowicz Thank you! The visuals was the main focus for me for this jam. Although this slightly sacrificed sound and gameplay. As for gaming, welp, one round before back to programming right? Just one round.
@kszaku Yeah there were balancing issues. Something I need to fix next jam. Thanks for playing!
@franciszek-pyrc Thank you! My next target is 320 ratings next LD! Also, great job on your game, I like the concept behind it.
@flashviper Good job, its always a good idea to let people know when events like these are going to happen. And thanks for playing!
*More polish? No....waaayy......*
@aim Thanks for the constructive criticism! Because I mostly focused on the visuals, the other two aspects (sound and feel) kind of suffered, sound especially, which is sad which I think every game deserves a good range of sound effects and music. As for the 'Why-you-no-get-shet-done-no-feedback' part, it was, for better or for worse, not intentional.
And sleeping on problems do fix them sometimes surprisingly. :>
@ratherjolly A "Spouse and kid" addition... mmmm theres an idea right there. If I ever make a sim of the sort again I assure you ill try to add one! Thanks for playing! Happy LDing!
Not sure if anyone noticed, but the popup on Give Up was pretty funny =)
Great take on the theme, I actually loved the artstyle, reminds me of games I used to play on my floppy. Maybe it's me, but I felt the game was a little hard and random, wasn't sure how to optimise my score. Best I got was 1457 in Jam with 2G 2D 3P (IIRC). Regardless, I had fun, great entry!
@jusw85 Well, some themes just want to make you go that way tbh! And I'll admit, that's basically what happened to me.
As for the art style, I wanted to try out dithering, which I used *alot* of. What resulted wasn't so bad, although there can be some improvements. This also gave it an old 'retro' like effect, looking like something that originated from a time where there were just so few colours to work with.
As for the gameplay, it is in fact quite random, and the problem is that you don't get to see how random, which can lead to some frustrating moments unfortunately.
Thanks for playing nonetheless!
The dithering really does give you the effect of feeling tired, haha. I love pixel games, and this is well done given the short amount of time available. It's too bad about the click bug, but I'm glad you pointed it out so I kept trying. What a harsh family, to disown someone for working hard, fff. It's an entertaining game and I enjoyed testing the limits.
@firebug Is that so? I like nicely done pixel games as well, along with simplistic art styles in game jam games (not that I don't like complicated things). Im also kinda sorry about the click bug since I was unable to fix it (I seriously have no clue why it happens). As for the family part, it was more or less intended as a joke. Mainly about a not-very-big situation blown way out of proportion. Thanks for playing!
