Really good game... Its the first game that I have truly enjoyed. Really fun and the graphics are well made.
I think I enjoyed that more than I should haha! The worst part was stabbing the poor little pigs right in the face. The last level was probably the only one that was challenging. Once I got the rhythm down though I picked it up pretty fast. Maybe instead of levels continually get faster you could change when the god wants part way through the level. Like start with goats and then it changes to men. Keep the mind working. Overall though it was good. And I did a bit of an evil giggle when I saw the first level and realised what the game was.
Nice work! Here are my thoughts: - It's kinda funny how, in later levels, it basically turns into a very morbid rhythm game. - Half the time I messed up, it's because I forgot which of the two buttons killed and which one freed. Maybe that's just an inherent part of the challenge of this game; I dunno. - That said, I do think the freeing mechanic was a good idea, and adds some much-needed variety into the gameplay. - I like the difficulty of the last level, but I think the difficulty of the other levels ramps up too slowly. The last level seems to go at about twice the speed of the second-to-last level, so I think you have some wiggle room to make the other later levels go faster.
Nice, kind of reminds me of games like Guitar Hero. I agree with the others that the difficulty increased too slowly, a lot of the early levels felt like a chore to get through.
Fun game overall though, I like the concept.
Simple and fun. The beginning was a bit slow, but it wasn't too much of a slog. The later levels were just right. Good job on this one!
Nice done, the animation was oddly satisfying.
Thanks for the wonderful feedback so far everyone! @amanda-priest the part about the god changing his mind during levels was actually a planned feature, but didn't make it due to time constraints. I agree that it would've made it more interesting!
What this game needs is an infinite mode (with god changing mind as other commenter said) that speeds up a lot quicker. This is a rythm game i can get behind!
The menus were very well done, and I can tell you put a lot of effort into it. Perfect scores grant you a gem on the level select screen! I liked the brooding cloud effect in the background. The gameplay itself was simple and satisfying. The pig sprite made me laugh out loud. I liked that it saves your progress if you close and reopen.
Two options that I think would make it better: - Ability to stab the sacrifice multiple times (as of now, you can swing the knife but to no effect) - OR slide in the next sacrifice right after you have freed or stabbed the current sacrifice.
edit: The time it takes to get to the next sacrifice wasn't a big deal on later levels when it speeds up. Perhaps it would be good if the desired sacrifice stayed on the screen the entire level.
I agree with previous comments, this game would work best with an endless mode.

Too bad the only challenging level was the last one, I would have played much longer ! Maybe your should think about having like 5 different button and a top to down scrolling, with some music it would be even more perfect. and what's about a guitar shaped controller... wait...
Nevermind I had fun and couldn't stop playing until the end. Well done.
Fun! That last level was tough, so fast.
I think adding levels where there are multiple desired sacrifices would up the difficulty without needing to increase the speed - greatly increases the chance of messing things up.
The begining is pretty easy since you can spam the key in advance. Liked it, very good overall! Nice job.
The gameplay is smooth and satisfying, and the graphics are cute!
Cool game! I like how rules change all the time so you have to adjust to them. And to think of it, the idea of sacrificial conveyor is pretty neat :)
So simple but fun (:
I enjoyed this entry! The expression changes on the characters when sacrificed was a nice touch. The difficulty spike on the last level was unexpected but fun!
I think this game could be taken to the next level by leaning into the rhythm side of it more, get the backing music to go with it and it would work very well as, how someone a put it, "a very morbid rhythm game".
The sounds were satisfying, the cutting free sound could stand to be a little less abrasive, but it still worked well! I appreciate the effort put into the scoring and medal display system!
Overall I think this is a good entry! I hope you continue to work on it more!
Awesome game, very fun to play, and I love the look on the people's face when you free them :p The last level was the only one with an actual kind challenge, so I would definitely consider making more levels if you want to continue working on the game! Hit me up if you do :p Good job!
Nice and simple, very polished. I really liked the stabby hand animation for some reason, it's very smooth.
I think the gameplay was too easy though. Maybe if it could be made more difficult by making the selection criteria more vague or puzzle-like.
Anyways, great job!
Nice mechanics, loved the quotes
Cool, I just don't like bfxr sounds, but it's ok
Awesome game, the last level took me a couple tries but I managed! The thud when you stabbed was unnerving lol great game!
Great game!
I like those simple drawings 😁, they are so funny and and varied that I ranked up the graphics 👍. Maybe 🤔 it would be harder to make a choice if there were diffent sprites for each object, or making the game of only sacrificing animals and taking in peoples dressed up with animals costumes.
Web version doesn't load for me, it's just a white page :(
Great game! Would be even better with a some tunes to complement the rhythm of stabbing stuff
Just a few ideas to show you that you don't have to rely on just one mechanic to increase difficulty (in your case, speed): * You could make block the vision of the next table sometimes (something gets in the way of your view, or the light goes out), revealing it just when it's on the middle. * After some levels you could also cover the sacrifices with a sheet so you have to learn to identify just by silhouette.
Hey there! Congrats on your first jam! The fact that you started with a complete compo game is amazing, really!
The game is pretty simple and I agree with the others who said the difficulty ramps up too slowly and when it gets to the last level it drastically changes. One other thing I noticed is that the undecisiveness that you're trying to show us doesn't really come into play. He is actually very specific and clear to what he wants, hehe. If it changed mid level, then this aspect would've become more clear, I guess. Also, what @lex said, there are other ways to increase difficulty, but I get it, compo makes us go for the easier ones hehe.
Huge congrats on the entry!
Simple, well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/RJjn8MPNuQ4
