For anyone who can't start the game, the spacebar worked for me. In the east room, I would recommend deleting the nearest wall to the camera. I don't think it adds to the challenge and the difficulty as much as to the frustration of the player. As for the west room, I gave up jumping over the first gap after 3 unsuccessful tries. The music is pretty cool though!
Cool Game - I was following the progress on Twitter and was happy to see it ready to play! - Spacebar worked at the Title screen, yet not the "X" key as stated. - Some of the angles were difficult to know where to jump - Jumping on top of Pot leaves you floating in the air (Collision size thing I think)
I really had fun in this game. And now I can't stop singing "Ooo Bop Bop" - LOLOLzzzz Great Stuff - and I thank you for making it ! 2018-12-02 10_54_52-LD43 Sacrifices.jpg
Ah! I just forgot to update the title screen text. Sorry guys! Fixing that quickly now.
Just FYI, you're not technically meant to jump on the pots... I intended you to use the sword. Let's just call it a sequence break for the speedruns  .
Art is awesome, music is really cool, controls are great, camera is kinda weird tho ):
Very difficult platformer :p. Liked art/music. Nice job!
Nice! The character controller kind of made it more difficult than it seemed like it should have been, and it doesn't seem like you need the sword to get the shield (seems like you intended for the order to matter?) Anyway, the presentation is great, music is funky as hell -- i was playing on a PC, so i dunno whether the right stick actually orbited the camera or not on a controller, but I liked that my view was sorta locked head-on.
Definitely a great entry, right of the bat. The pixel art characters were cute and well animated despite it's simplicity and the game feel was actually rather good! The audio was pretty great too!
However, please don't make a jump in the z-axis with that camera angle. That one jump at the start of the game, left side of the room is straight-up unfair and annoying.
Great entry!
Very interesting entry. I liked the music and sound effects, and the retro look was well-done here. Some basic story, and then on to some nice challenges.
I was immediately curious about the camera, because it's very distinctive. It feels almost like a side-scroller at times. At first I assumed I wouldn't have to ever change camera views, and interesting notion in the 3D world, so I was wondering where you'd take that. But then I saw - middle mouse changes it! I had to exit the game to read that, but no big deal. (Same for ctrl and shift).
The jumping challenges to get the sword seemed designed to challenge my ability to manipulate the camera. I didn't even notice the platforms, looking from certain angles! There were a few times where the camera was off by a little angle (because I'd set it to be off, my error) and then I'd be going along and WHOOPS I fell right off because there was a diagonal aspect to my motion I didn't notice.
It was disorienting, but also a unique element of the game, and I kind of got used to it after flubbing the execution of what I thought should be basic stuff a few times. Once I saw that I had to leap down from the high area to grab the sword, I knew I had figured it out.
If I could tweak one thing, it would be the way that holding down jump re-jumps when I hit the ground a second time. I found I was holding down the jump key to try to get more air time, Mario-style, but if I held it a little too long I'd immediately jump again on touching down, sometimes right off the side. A minor thing to adjust to, but typically games don't check the button BEING down, they check is TRANSITIONING to down, for the initiation of a jump.
Cool little game with nice flair and style, good job!
Quite difficult, but guessing that has something to do with camera control and collissions. Really felt like I deserved to be sacrificed in the end for being so bad at jumping haha.
The lo-fi graphics are nice, and the levels interesting ; too the camera is a real fun killer, there are some places where you can't even see the player while jumping.
I like the art direction and some of the polish touches are nice. The camera looks really cool, but to be honest for me it was difficult to control and I couldn't even get the sword and shield, so I didn't get to see the ending.
Nice work! I was looking for a good fight with the shaman with my sword and shield to decide who will be sacrificed, but I was sacrificed in the end.
Unfortunate that the gamepad didn't work on the web version and a middle mouse button is missing on my laptops touchpad. Thus I played through the whole game without moving the camera believing that is how it was intended to be played. Nice short experience.
@gagapete Yeah seems like a lot of people are having trouble with the camera  I feel guilty!
3D cameras are hard and this is my first foray, sorry to everyone! If you can find the time to download and play with a controller you'll have a better time I promise.
@twopm No worries. I found it quite interesting to need to memorize the room layout and I actually thought it was intended like that. I had fun playing the game that way.
I absolutely loved the funky music, it made me feel cool despite falling down to the ground every second jump, haha. Fun idea and entertaining game!
I found it **so. much. easier.** after I reread the description and saw you could use the middle mouse button to control the camera (although at least with the mouse, you have the y axis inverted from what is *objectively* the right way) in that I literally tried for a few minutes to complete the left room and failed before I quit and saw that in the description.
One thing regardless of camera angle is that with the exact same texture everywhere it can still be difficult to see platforms and such against the walls (and other platforms, etc.). Other than that I was a fan of the retro-style graphics (although I'd probably make the player part of the world, not an overlay on the camera, tilt it high enough and you lose your head in the wall, and it'd be like the other character on the shrine).
Like so many others I liked the funky music (making decent music is something which is still beyond me - if anyone can point me in the direction of something that might teach me how, I'd appreciate it) and the sound effects fit in with the mood you're going for.
Pretty solid effort overall though.
The camera was a bit awkward with the middle mouse and the cursor was not locked on the window (in non-web windows mode). I really enjoyed the style and the mix between dungeon exploration and 2D platforming game, the graphics were also really nice and consistent within themselves. Really a good job!
The controls are the biggest problem I think, but I like the 3d 2d graphics, music was nice too
fun but my controller didnt work well like i couldnt jump or anything
Really liked the game and art, very fun!
