LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

An Adventure within a Deep Forest by BoltKey 2018-12-03T03:24:43Z

Super cool game. Excellent tutorial presentation, and the levels are mostly well-designed -- there were a couple of points where I'd jump a gap and be unable to jump it the other way, but it didn't seem to make anything unsolvable. Also, the perspective sometimes made it difficult to tell where an input would land me, especially when there were objects near me. Overall, this is really innovative! Nice work.

What this war claims by bigbadwofl 2018-12-03T05:36:59Z

I really like this. Not totally sure how it fits the theme, but the presentation is great, and it's a very zen experience overall. Well done!

EDIT: i get it now. this is a fantastic submission.

Casualty by foxor 2018-12-03T04:58:14Z

Neat concept. Always nice to see well-executed strategy or puzzle games in LD, since they're pretty tough to do well.

Faces by baknik 2018-12-03T05:25:37Z

Excellent. It was an aha moment to figure out how to delight the faces.

Keyboard Twister by Papercookies 2018-12-03T03:54:30Z

Love the presentation of this one, and the concept is as unique as it is well-executed (very). Loved the long-ass fingers. Nicely done!

Lava Luva by mcovert 2018-12-03T04:07:12Z

Cool little management game. Controls and workflow are really well done (your UI is about 200% more legible than most LD games). There are a couple easy ways to totally screw yourself, but overall this is a really good submission.

43 and Me by Atium Addict 2018-12-03T03:16:55Z

Interesting. My inclination is to say that to fix the UI's legibility problems, you might try to animate the tiles moving, so it's easier to tell where they were and where they ended up. Interesting concept, for sure. It has 2048-like appeal.

Quest for the West by tigerj 2018-12-03T05:58:00Z

It became apparent really quickly that anyone I sent out wasn't coming back. I appreciated that the frogs are harbingers of death. Nice submission!

The Happy Prince by Jisam 2018-12-03T05:13:36Z

Yeah, I found the controls to be much too difficult to manage. I think if I were able to change my direction without having to flap that might alleviate some of the lack of control.

Stupid Minions Battle Today and Tomorrow by Abeyance 2018-12-03T03:51:16Z

This is a nice little clicker-type game, and I enjoyed some of the bullethell aspects that the big enemies introduced. Wasn't totally sure how this fit into the theme, and the generator didn't seem to do anything -- also, I got several pretty bad framerate drops on a GTX 970M -- not sure what might have been causing that. Overall congrats for submitting something finished!

For The Will Of Gods by Erendelous 2018-12-03T03:11:43Z

Ok! I didn't totally follow how my interactions with the props really changed things, aside from clicking the stones reducing the gods' rage. At a point, it seemed as though there was nothing for me to do except die.

Alain's Sacrifice by Daniel_Abeleira 2018-12-03T02:50:21Z

Nice! Wasn't clear from the beginning which key actually made you jump, or that you can shoot with the mouse, or that you had to clear out the enemies in the stage to be able to sacrifice a gem at the end, but reading some comments on the itch page cleared it up. Enemy types were okay, seemed balanced enough, though the strategy for defeating all of them was basically the same (go outside the range where they can hit you, shoot until they're dead). Nice work overall!

Tezcacoatl's Dance Dance Paradise by numeralien 2018-12-03T04:48:19Z

Good eye! Bug! It has something to do with using local storage in HTML5. I might try building out in a more recent version of Unity to see if that fixes it. But since it's in there for now, you can consider it a personal insult.

Expendibots by pandan 2018-12-03T04:52:49Z

Love this one. Reminds me a lot of Katamari in the palette and presentation.

Do It for Their Sake by SuperGamersGames 2018-12-03T03:35:41Z

SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT.

Seriously, this is really good. The general feel is rally, really polished, and I enjoyed the concept a lot. My one concern is that the addition of the ghost-bullets sort of undermines the main mechanic (that being 'bullets move when I move). I'd have liked to have seen bullets that, say, move once every 2 moves, or something more similar like that. Really good overall.

Sons of Vanity by nkrim 2018-12-03T05:09:28Z

Managed to get a 57 by choosing one feature and only clicking guys that had that feature (like "square head"). Neat game, though, fun concept, and the art is horrifying in an endearing way. Well done!

Goo Glow by Birdwards 2018-12-03T06:03:07Z

Super unique and super well-executed! Really nice work!

Eskate Death by DougDevs 2018-12-03T03:40:53Z

Cool! Yours physics are really tight, and the visuals do a good job of establishing context despite being pretty minimalist. My one criticism is that you don't really gain anything by holding onto penguins -- it seems as though the orca is stalled for the same amount of time whether you loose it when it's right on your tail or immediately when you pick it up.

Depth by pvp 2018-12-03T04:13:19Z

Look and feel is great! However, you can totally just take damage at the start of the level and then plow though to the stairs without killing anything. I'd probably lock the stairs until you defeat all the monsters. Nicely done either way, though.

Hunger Sings by Swanijam 2018-12-03T04:34:42Z

Wow. Really nice presentation, you definitely made the absolute most of the limited time. Very interesting take on the theme, and also very refreshing to see a submission that relies heavily on writing that's actually well-executed.

cube mob by mbc 2018-12-03T05:05:43Z

Pretty cool! I ran into an issue a couple times where i had multiple cubes in my mob, one fell into the abyss, and the game decided that that one would take the focus, so i had to restart. Other than that, I'd have liked to have seen a moving platform or something to spice things up, but it was pretty fun overall!

Alien Escape by carlpilot 2018-12-03T04:38:02Z

Pretty nice! Well-presented, if a little overscoped. Wasn't able to restart the game once I died -- also couldn't find a way to get coconuts.

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-03T02:57:15Z

God, this is fantastic. The music, the graphics, presentation is all top notch. The mechanic is solid, the levels are well-designed, and I loved that each party member has their own unique tools -- my one qualm is that the controls are a little awkward. Some suggestions to alleviate that: - Automatically switch to a different party member when one dies - have A and S cycle to the party member to the left or right on-screen, or maybe even have one key to cycle them (like C or something).

Overall this is really, really good work. Congrats!

Manik Hungers by TwoPM 2018-12-03T04:02:35Z

Nice! The character controller kind of made it more difficult than it seemed like it should have been, and it doesn't seem like you need the sword to get the shield (seems like you intended for the order to matter?) Anyway, the presentation is great, music is funky as hell -- i was playing on a PC, so i dunno whether the right stick actually orbited the camera or not on a controller, but I liked that my view was sorta locked head-on.

Flying Farmer by relixes 2018-12-03T03:00:22Z

Ahh, this is adorable. Love the super-retro presentation, it reminds me of like, C64. Enjoyed the use of the theme as well -- pushing kitties off the platform is simultaneously cathartic and horrifying. Well done!

Flufy Hat Co. by JustWall Games 2018-12-03T05:18:31Z

Wow -- I love that the title screen is unicorn vomit and then as soon as you click you're confronted with an executioner, bloody chopping block, and imprisoned animals. Fantastic.
