Dude, the visuals on this are increible!
Games made in 48 hours aren't supposed to be this good. The only real probelm I had is that I have real difficulty even inputing the diagonals which can feel a little unfair, but I mean the game is really good. Like I would pay money for this game good.
This was a funny entry, I like how the volcano god looks and the noises the people make are silly. Gameplay was good but I thought making diagonal movements was pretty tricky with arrow keys.
This game is so well done and feels very polished! Love it- but I agree with @adventureislands the diagonal movements were hard for my brain to process at first. Second time through I kind of got the hang of them.
This looks so nice, and I love the beat! It's too bad I'm absolute trash at rhythm games :( Still, it was fun regardless.
Really fun theme, I love the art. Too bad I stink and have no rhythm. I also feel like some of my arrow presses blended together into multiple 'notes', but maybe I'm just too slow xD
I really like this, difficulty and how long I lasted seemed about right. (Yeah, diagonals were the death of me) High score on the main menu still said 0 even after I did pretty dang good (in my pathetic estimate) so either a bug or personal insult, unsure :smirk:
Good eye! Bug! It has something to do with using local storage in HTML5. I might try building out in a more recent version of Unity to see if that fixes it. But since it's in there for now, you can consider it a personal insult.
This game is super well executed. Very slick aesthetic, sounds, graphics, gameplay. Everything seems to have come off well!
My only complaint is that on my Macbook keyboard diagonals are super tough to hit. I basically instant lost the game at that point.
Really nice job on this... great visuals, really funny, entertaining, nice  It seemed like there were points where I only hit the key once but it still failed... maybe my keyboard was too sensitive though, idk. Anyways, very fun game!
So funny. Great game, look forward to seeing what you make in the future
its very WarioWare, and that's a good thing!! haha i LOVE this one, the theme & graphics are on point :ok_hand:
Impressive!
The diagonals seemed near impossible though :/
Nice game! Love the graphics
I love the cute little volcano face!
Well done! Bravo! This is really a great little game. As others are saying, the diagonals are near impossible. I don't think they are necessary, as I was having plenty of challenge without them.
Super cute game! I'm terrible at it, but it's cute!!
Everyone else has covered the gameplay points I might make. So I'll just say, this is great. I love the visuals and the humor.
A short but super well made game. Well done.
Thought it was maybe a bit too easy, and then those wild diagonals got thrown in. Beautiful and fun!
Really cool 5/5 , excellent work. It gets SUPER hard, I got 25 I thought that was not too bad haha
Fantastic polish. I'm really bad at these sorts of games but I had fun. If I were you, I'd change it to mobile controls and put it on android play store. It can be a fun pastime game.
The game is pretty fun and simple, and looks nice:)
I love this game. This is the best one I've played so far. Everything about it is good, the face on the volcano, the dance moves, the noises you make when you hit the diagonal moves. I love it, fantastic job.
Ok, everyone said it already, very fun with good graphics and feel! I just miss faster sacrifices in shorter time for even better feel but that's minor. Good job!
Amzing!!! best entry ive played
Fun. Simple and i like the sounds.
Graphics and sound are great! The game maybe gets a bit too hard fast. The arrows could start slower. Oh and highscore on main menu doesn't work!
The most fun game I've played so far! Really polished gameplay with some great animation. The volcano explosion caught me by surprise! Well done!
I loved so many things about this. The graphics are cute, the sound effects are on point, the game gets challenging at good pace. And the little things such as screen shakes and many more work perfectly.
Sometimes, it was a bit too unforgiving in my opinion. But that is probably because I suck at rhythm games  . Got about 32 on second try.
Did you record/create all the audio yourself? Like the birds, volcano explosion and all that?
nice and funny game. graphics and sound is cool. i like animation when human flyed to vulcan (sorry for my bad english)
That was fun, and I loved the artstyle. The diagonals seemed to lead to a lot of fails when I felt like I was hitting them, but I really liked the pressure of trying to react quickly
Great funny game, cool graphics good for what the game was
Good job! Well polished with nice sounds(especially the volcano which startled me a bit). Great to see a rhythm game - something different! Only thing that could be communicated better is where they arrows "hit point" is. It took me some time to realize that you aren't supposed to time with the left most part of the arrow, but with the center of the arrow. Other than that it was great!
Awesome art!
Amazing art and really funny to watch the little guys going flying! haha thanks
Kind a nice game, great art and fun spin on sacrifice. I got spooked when you introduced the diagonal arrows, and it all went down hill from there, or should i say down a volcano.
This one's freakin' adorable. Extremely well polished and well made
oh man my timming after working on my game is pretty crap, i'll come back t this game after a good night of sleep, but beside my rhythm being crap i loved the minimalistic pixel art, i think the tempo is a little bit unforgiven, but this is a great game overall!
Pretty fun! I think one day thoes little people would go extinction, beacuse the volcano or not...
Nice & simple gameplay, but super polished. Good job!
This is my favourite game of the jam so far! Great use of theme and anything that involves mayan mythos is a winner!
I made 21! The game is pretty fun! I love rythym games. I was laughing the WHOLE time everytime the sacrifices went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Hahaha
The diagonals are pretty hard to strike, tho!
I love Volcano's faces and sacrifices screaming everytime they went flying, hahahaha. But I think the diagonals are too tricky for arrow keys.
Great work!
Beautiful entry. I would have liked less downtime between each round, and also struggled with diagonal inputs. Great job!
Incredible. I love the little sounds you make when you get it right. I love the drum beat that tells your ear the tempo. I love the art. I'm not crazy about the diagonal directions though XD.
Loved the game ! Aztec is the best theme =P ! It's a bit difficult when you have to make not horizontal or vertical input but it's really fun ! =D
Impressive work ! Well done
Hey! Congrats on the entry!
What I liked the most: - Diagonals! I've seen tons of games over the last years use this type of gameplay, but they hardly ever use diagonals. - Game feels and plays great! Its charming and funny!
What I disliked the most: - Diagonals! LOL, I see why that's not such a common thing. It's hard to get it right and it usually feels like the timing is off (as a player) - It got repetitive real quick.
You did a great job, congrats again ;)
Cheers!
man after play 10x i can say, it`s one of my favorites of this jam, congrats for this incredible game
I am so bad at rhythm games, still very nice done!
this game is really game and its one of my favorits,i really like the face of the volcano and the art style in a wohle
you didnt really do thsi in 48h?? Wow nice one!
Fantastic *and* fun, *and* so much work in 48 hours <3 congrats
Hahahaha. Haha. Hahahahaha ROFL hahahahaha. (INHALE). HaHAHAHA hahahaha loooool haha. 5 stars would sacrifice again !
Really fun! It's hard and gets repetetiv quickly, but it is worth playing for a while! Love the pixel art and music
It was fun, and the art was very clean and cute!
I have a few minor nitpicks that might help the experience a bit - I noticed that if you did not release a button by the time it scrolls past the window to hit it, you'd be penalized as though you pressed the next button incorrectly. It took me awhile to figure out why I kept failing right after entering an input correctly, before I realized what was going on. Rather than checking if the button is being held down, you might want to check if the button was pressed down on a specific frame.
It also took me until the end of the game to realize that the volcano had a face that was telling you how close to erupting it was. If you make a future revision, you might want to give the face a little bit more contrast, so that it draws the attention of the player better.
Fun game, with cool graphics and awesome sound effects, as said above the diagonal combinations are a bit unforgiving, I think you should keep them, but not allow them to be generated one after another (that's the most difficult part of your game I think).
(P.S. : best volcano I've ever seen 🤣)
Very cool graphics & sound effects. Too bad there isn't any music (during the game)! I feel like it would fit this game very well. I love the screen shake effects you had going on too.
I enjoyed playing your game. Volcano and game mechanics are nice. What i don't like is, that sometimes, even the arrow is about half of it's size in the circle, the game does not accept my button press. I was quite often too early, misguided by the arrow. Perhaps you could tweak that a litte. Overall a very solid and fun to play game!
Nice work! I hope my comments can be helpful as both a rhythm gamer and a drummer. Here are my thoughts:
- The graphics and audio are delightful. I love how the game conveys its humor entirely through those, instead of explicitly writing jokes. - You chose your scope well, and it shows. The amount of polish put into each detail is impressive. - I love the subtle rumbling of the volcano telling you how close you are to losing. - Like everyone else, I struggled with diagonals, especially hitting them in rapid sequence. When diagonals are introduced, it seems like each arrow is equally likely to be diagonal or orthogonal. I think you should tweak the probability so that diagonals are far less likely than orthogonals when they are first introduced (maybe a 25/75 split), but get more probable as the game progresses, up to a 50/50 split. Otherwise, the ramp-up in difficulty feels very sudden. - I had the same input problem as @ild-games-llc. My guess is that you're using Input.GetButton or Input.GetKey to detect key presses when you should be using Input.GetButtonDown or Input.GetKeyDown. - It can be difficult to replicate a rhythm that contains a long rest. Likewise, when there's a long gap between the end of the drum sequence and the beginning of the dance sequence, it can be difficult to time the first arrow. I think there should be a backing track to compare the drum rhythm against- maybe a shaker softly playing 8th notes with an emphasis on beats 2 and 4. - The gap between the beginning of the drum sequence and the beginning of the dance sequence appears to be about one measure of 4/4 time. This can pose a problem when the drum sequences become longer than one measure. Dancing one measure behind the drums while the drums are still playing can be very disorienting/distracting. I'd recommend a gap of two measures, so you can generate longer patterns without disrupting the call-and response flow of the game.
Perfect! 5-stars. When the volcano erupted and the screen shook I realized I failed to appease the volcano. If you continue to develop this, I didn't notice feedback when I was on the beat of how that increasing progress toward volcano appeasement. I didn't notice a meter or animation indicating the volcano's appeasement.
