Yes! Another omelette themed game! We had the same brain wave. Congrats on getting it done!

I'm having a lot of troubles knowing what to do. The attack buttons doesn't seem to do anything. If I lose my purple tank, is that basically game over?
@meijerson Oops, thanks for the reminder!
Very cool! Love the art style. Wish there was a bit more visual connection between my actions and the consequences. Trying to focus on my character, and the text and the bars was pretty tough. I like the concept though, congrats on getting done!
Awesome art!
Looks great, unfortunately controls were a pain pont for me. After about 5 minutes I hadn't made it even though one checkpoint haha. Once the enemies swarm the ball its really tough to win it back. Game looks gorgeous though and your animations are great. Definitely made me smile.
I really have to echo many of gonutz's comments. The pace was pretty slow, for the first several moves I had no idea what I was doing. Im not sure if the timeout between moves is artificial or not but the wait time felt pretty long. Luckily I found a gun. Everyone around me seemed to be weaponless ;) I thought perhaps I would shot in the direction I was facing but I'm not sure that's how it worked. The music loop could be a bit longer, I had to turn down my speakers. A cool concept and you got it done in time which are both things you should be proud of.
Happy to put you over the 20 review mark! I enjoyed the game, I've been brewing an idea like this as well! I'll echo what others said in that I wasn't sure what the towers would do. I'd appreciate even a reference just in the description since the game is pretty fast paced and even after buying a few different towers it was a bit unclear.
Cool game man! I found it a bit tedious to have to move things around so much but it was neat to discover the different items.
Also, I took your tutorial on grenade explosions (and some assets from DevAssets) and turned it into a Jam game. Hope you'll take a look: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/modern-bowlfare
I kinda wish that the rhythm aspect had more to do with the gameplay than just limiting when I can press buttons. (or maybe it does and I just didn't notice). Overall, I think the strongest aspect is how well you embraced the theme.
Music had a good beat and I was able to find the rhythm easy enough to time the buttons. Glad to see you were able to get it done!
Perhaps, the closer to hitting the button at the exact time, the "better" the card you get.
I'd say don't be afraid to change the rules of blackjack a bit to suit the game. Zach Gage has done well for himself on iOS by taking classic card games and giving the rules a good shake-up, I think you could do the same!
Annnnnd that's why Rac7 is bringing home Apple Game of the Year awards. Great job Jesse & Jason! My favorite part of the game is "accidental" farmer vs farmer combat. Ya'll should probably put the final coat of paint on this and release it, I'd play it. :)
Neat concept. The player who goes first has a huge advantage though, I'd certainly put some time into that. In turn-based racing board games there's typically a mechanic like once a player has passed the finish line, then all players get an equal number of turns and the player who made it the furthest wins. Perhaps something like that would help to even things out.
Neat idea! I died A LOT when I first played. It's a bit tough to judge where people are coming from. Felt like I was getting stabbed in the back/side a lot. Maybe spawn less guys and from further away but have them move a bit faster. I felt a bit overwhelmed by the opponents.
When I finally did manage to dunk it, I felt pretty good haha. I had to slide along the left side and hope RNG was on my side.
Congrats on getting the game done!
@GexAlmighty They do! You just need to nestle the grenade really close to them. When the grenade explodes there are 2 spheres that check for overlapping objects, one smaller one for destroying (and triggering barrel explosions) and one for adding some forces. Maybe I should be more generous with when barrels explode. ;) Thanks for playing!
@Almax Yikes, I forgot to disable jumping. For some reason jumping teleports the player and spawns all the pins, that's crazy I'll have to look at why the code does that. Please give the game a shot without using spacebar, I'll throw up a bug fix when I've got some time.
Would love a macOS build. Or at least mark the zip on Itch as Windows ;) Screenshots look great, seems like you really nailed the particle effects!
@Diblow Cool, I can test it out on macOS if you'd like. Feel free to shoot me a tweet @dwils if you make a build. Congrats on finishing the game!
Very cool. Took me a while to get the hang of it. It wasn't immediately obvious to me that the purple rock reset the board. When I first played, I was a bit confused about how to submit my hand, I didn't realize I needed 5 cards (seems obvious now). I haven't beaten it after a few tries, but I think he concept it really cool. Nice pixel art, it fits well. Hope to see this on the App Store some day!
Cool idea, I like that you took the idea of a deck building game that's more common in board games and added to to an action video game. One thing I didn't like was that I got pretty overwhelmed with enemies by the 3rd level. I spawned in the middle and there were so many bad guys forming a tight circle I felt I couldn't escape. Overall it was a neat game, I think if you were to put more time into it more types of cards would be welcome.
Hmm, I can't remember. I'll try to give it another play later on!
It's a bit unclear how to do well in this game. I assembled some pets I thought kinda matched the customer, but there wasn't any feedback on whether I did it well or not.
This was a delight. The characters are great but seeing them explode into a bloody mess is better. Overall I like the graphics and humor the most. The game garners a smile. The thing I think that could be worked on was hit detection, I had a tough time understanding when or why I hit something, and it was a bit unclear how far I could shoot. Some particles or visual representation of what I shot would definitely help. Over all I think you guys did a great job!
